Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day

Read the Happy Mother’s Day short article by Genevieve Gerard

At this time of the year, we acknowledge and honor the great sacrifice that Mothers make and have made since the beginning of time.

We also acknowledge the great transformation that Mothers have set in motion.

A Mother’s Perspective is Different

From the beginning of our awareness that life is growing within us what is important to us, what fulfills us, what we want from life subtlety changes? This is true no matter how you became a mother, through giving birth, through adoption or from accepting a spouse’s children as your own. This change is born of holding a love in your heart that is greater than you ever knew was possible. This change grants mother’s a vision of life that transcends how things are as it affirms what deeply important in the continuity of life and in the demonstration of love.

This shift of consciousness is powerful, life-affirming and real. Any woman who has ever embarked upon the adventure of motherhood notices that this experience impacts your life in many different ways.

Mother's Day 2017 - Genevieve Gerard

By sharing this poem written by Julia Ward Howe in 1870, which was the original proclamation of Mother’s Day I honor all mother’s with gratitude. The sacrifices you have made to nurture the next generation will live on as the love you have given and the wisdom you have shared ripples through time into eternity.

You as a Mother are a part of a vital force for all that is life-affirming and good in the world. The sisterhood of Motherhood has the power to ignite change and new awareness, as the proclamation below does. Together the principles of right speech, justice, truth, and honor shall continue to be taught.

Julia Ward Howe’s Mother’s Day Proclamation

Arise then…women of this day!

Arise, all women who have hearts!
Whether your baptism be of water or of tears!
Say firmly:

“We will not have questions answered by irrelevant agencies,
our husbands will not come to us, reeking with carnage,
for caresses and applause.

Our sons shall not be taken from us to unlearn
all that we have been able to teach them of charity, mercy and patience.

We, the women of one country,
will be too tender of those of another country
to allow our sons to be trained to injure theirs.”

From the bosom of a devastated Earth a voice goes up with
our own. It says: “Disarm! Disarm!
The sword of murder is not the balance of justice.”

Blood does not wipe out dishonor,
nor violence indicate possession.

As men have often forsaken the plough and the anvil
at the summons of war,
let women now leave all that may be left of home
for a great and earnest day of counsel.

Let them meet first, as women, to bewail and commemorate the dead.
Let them solemnly take counsel with each other as to the means
whereby the great human family can live in peace…
Each bearing after his own time the sacred impress, not of Caesar,
but of God

In the name of womanhood and humanity, I earnestly ask
that a general congress of women without limit of nationality,
may be appointed and held at someplace deemed most convenient
and the earliest period consistent with its objects,
to promote the alliance of the different nationalities,
the amicable settlement of international questions,
the great and general interests of peace.

As society takes this time to honor and exalt mothers I invite Mother’s everywhere to take a pause to understand and affirm the amazing power you have as a Mother to mold the generations of the future. In your hands, we have placed a sacred trust.

To help empower and support all of you in this great adventure I offer you some affirmations that can help you focus and energize you in this great duty.

Mother’s Affirmations

  • I take care of myself, for I realize I cannot give from an empty container.

  • I release those I love from any expectations that may be limiting their life.

  • I am gentle with myself, my spouse and with children, letting compassion guide me as I strive to be quick to forgive.

  • I do my best to give those I influence love and support.

  • I acknowledge I am not perfect, but it will be enough because I give with Love and the intention to guide and support all.

  • I trust that love will prevail connecting heart-to-heart, mind-to-mind and Soul-to-Soul with honor for the differences between us and respect for the ties that bind us.

Call to Mother’s of the World

Realize that as Mothers we can transform the world through the values we instill and the guidance we provide this next generation of humanity. This is a sacred honor. We owe this duty to the future. As a group and as individuals, we stand firm in teaching right from wrong. We are women, we are Mothers and we are stronger and more empowered than we imagine.

We are the mystical representatives of the Divine Feminine, the Divine Mother, and Gaia, the Mother Earth.

This Mother energy we bring into manifestation and expression is a sacred honor which we bear.

During this time, the world is honoring motherhood. Let us also honor the Sisterhood of Feminine Energy to offer one another support by rejecting competition and enhancing cooperation.

Let us honor one another and support one another in our varied roles and responsibility so we can together build a world where all children can thrive, grow and become successful.

This is a gift we can give to one another during this special time of the year as we honor the unique blessing we, as women of the world unite in Motherhood and Sisterhood.

Namaste,
