The Wisdom of We the People

All governments ultimately draw their authority and power from the consent of the governed.

That is a truth that may not be observed at times because the world has in it both good and evil.

As a human being, one of the most powerful and profound parts of your nature is your Free Will.

The Power To Choose Good vs Evil

Every single human being who breathes the air of the earth is endowed by their creator with free will, and like so many things in life can be used for either good or evil.

According to the author Ervin Staub, “evil is often associated with conscious and deliberate wrongdoing, discrimination designed to harm others, humiliation of people designed to diminish their psychological needs and dignity, destructiveness, and acts of unnecessary or indiscriminate violence.”

It is not new that evil exists in the world. But there are ways that you as a human being can, through your free will, have power and influence over whether or not evil wins or prevails in the world.

There is a long arc of history in the world of men and women that bends toward Justice as Dr. Martin Luther King observed long ago.

The battle between good and evil has been a part of the human experience as long as human beings have walked the earth. It is present in the most ancient of stories and myths dating back to the Garden of Eden and included in the stories and myths of indigenous people of every culture across the diverse divide of humanity.

In the ongoing conflict between good and evil one element is crystal clear and that is where free will comes into power and play, it is always a choice.

That is where there is a sacred, one might even say Divine power and promise that is given with free will to all of humankind. You and by extension “We the People” are given the power to choose.

That ultimately means choosing between Love and Hate. It also sadly also means choosing between Truth and Lies. Those choices in life have long ranging impact, evil has learned how to use lies, fear, and misinformation to manipulate humanity to have its way.

Calling Out Evil

As Edmond Burke observed long ago,

The only thing that is necessary for evil to prevail is for good men (people) to do nothing.”

What makes that principle especially important is the hesitation to call out evil as evil.

That hesitation is both dangerous and damaging to the “wisdom of we the people.”

Evil has long thrived by attacking truth. Evil is only defeated when good people make a stand.

It seems the time has come again in the long arc of history when calling evil, evil, has become of paramount importance.

The technological advances of humankind have made disinformation, lies and a manipulative technique called gaslighting a tool that is making it harder and harder for TRUTH to be recognized.

Merriam-Webster dictionary defines gaslighting as “psychological manipulation“ to make someone question their “perception of reality” leading to “dependence on the perpetrator”.

Propaganda and disinformation are a new way to distort truth and fuel lies called “alternate facts” as a tool of evil that is striving to confuse people and empower the forces of evil.

In such a time, and against this effort “We the People” must stand strong. “We the People” must reject disinformation, gaslighting, alternate facts, and seek and stand for TRUTH.

Knowing What Is Truth

“We love truth because it’s the way we’re created by God. It’s built in, so to speak. And every step we take in the direction of valuing truth and resisting falsity moves us closer to understanding that God is Truth and to fulfilling Jesus’ promise that this all-important truth will heal us and make us free.” – CSMonitor.com

Wikitionary.org defines, “God’s honest truth” as, “Unquestionable, absolute truth.” Unfortunately, this doesn’t stop evil from trying to confuse TRUTH to manipulate humankind. I am reminded of Pontus Pilate at the crucifixion of Jesus, asking the crowd, “What is Truth.”

Pilate therefore said unto Him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.

Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all.” -John 18:37-38 KJV

Fortunately, the way to answer that question and to determine not only what is true, but also inspire and inform you to know right from wrong was given to you, and to each and every person who makes up “we the people” and that is your Soul, your spiritual essence.

Your Soul is the spark of Divine Light that informs your consciousness of those lofty determinations of right from wrong no matter how many lies, alternate facts, and disinformation you are being fed. That spark of Divine Light is inherent and when called upon enables you to know TRUTH when you hear it.

TRUTH resonates within you. That is something upon Free Will relies. That is a safeguard upon which the wisdom of “We the people” counts and the group Soul of a people such as the Soul of America depends.

This is a determination, a choice that we are all being given across the planet.

Deep in the heart of humanity is an awareness of what is right, and even more important what is wrong. This innate knowledge is very important when we consider what seems to be happening in the world today.

Knowing what is right and acknowledging what is right is not enough. In order for the goodwill of humanity that empowers “We the People” there comes a time that it is necessary to make a stand. To make a choice and require and demand that the will of the people becomes the laws that govern people.

I suggest that time is now, especially in the United States of America, but also around the world for “We the People” to reject the manipulations of lies and disinformation and honor and demand TRUTH.

Fortunately, humanity has been created and endowed with an internal arbiter of truth that we only need to call upon to help us see through the illusions and lies that are being pitched by evil and that is the divine wisdom of your Soul.

Because at your creation you were endowed with a spark of Divine Light there is a built-in safety feature that signals what is right action, and whenever we as the greater group of humanity stray too far from doing what is right, that kernel of TRUTH, that spark of Divine Light that was given to humanity to guide it and teach it becomes activated.

The very essence and nature of the Soul is Love. So deep in your Soul and deep in your heart is the archetypal sense and awareness that Love is the guiding principle of what is good and right. What separates and divides people such as hate, with all of its superlativeness is wrong. The long arc of human history has proved this time and time again.

Every Divine World Teacher has taught humanity to “Love One Another.”

There is no path of religion or philosophy that advises hate to be the way “We the people” should interact with one another.

Love, or at the very least compassion and kindness is the common thread through all world religions and world philosophies advise.

Love is the INNER TRUTH that is the common denominator in all of humanity. It does not rely upon dogma, or the many divisions, lies, and hatred created in its desire to disrupt and divide the human family, because deep within every man, woman, and child there is a Soul whose very essence and nature is Love.

Although evil can delude and disguise TRUTH, humanity has proved time and time again that ultimately people reject evil and make a stand for right against wrong, good to overcome evil.

That time is NOW! You are being called to Make a Stand. You are being called to reject evil!

Called to Love

NOW is the time for us to learn how to demonstrate Love for One Another.

It has always struck me as significant that Jesus when He walked among us really only gave one commandment and that was that we “Love One Another” and He described and demonstrated how to do that by His example described “As I have loved you, so you must love one another…”

When you consider the life, the example of Jesus that is shared in the scriptures “We the people” are left with the understanding that Love is the path Jesus was advising that His disciples follow.

That is what those who call themselves His followers are being called to do.

As I ponder these profound life and social issues, I keep coming back to the understanding that each of us is given a choice, for that is both the power and the purpose of Free Will.

You can choose! You were created and are empowered to choose love over hate. You are called to choose TRUTH over lies! That is the power upon which Thomas Jefferson and all the Founding Fathers of the United States of America relied: that “We the People” would have the group strength and power to be our better angels to form and develop a more perfect union to stand as USA President Ronald Reagan once described America as “a shinning beacon standing on a hill.”

Time for you to choose!

A Spiritual Solution
to the Current World Problems

I am not a political person.

I consciously avoid even commenting on politics.

However, as a citizen of the United States and the world, it would be disingenuous to stand silent as I watch this great experiment fail.

The seeds of society’s problems have, unfortunately, been growing unchecked and unattended until they have reached a critical tipping point. It is evident in my mind and heart that it is TIME TO TAKE A STAND and let our light shine.

It is time to ask yourself, “What do I stand for?“

Then it is time to consider what you are being called by your moral compass to do to make a stand.

I ask and invite you to turn first to your moral compass to consider this issue because I believe that deep within each of us, there is a certain sense of what is right and an equally clear sense of what is wrong. And for me, as I begin my day with meditation and contemplation on what I can do to make this world a better place, I feel compelled to issue a call to action.

As I write these words, I freely acknowledge that taking a stand is never easy. It is much easier to go along to get along.

STAND FOR TRUTH

Sadly, as the world has moved forward, values society has long held dear are being eroded. Truth is under attack. I say this not as a political statement but as a simple observation of the world as it is today. If I consider how this happened, I see that as many problems, it was a gradual decay of compromises and acceptances of little lies, accepted because what society has required as acceptable behavior has given way.

The lack of Truth in advertising strikes me first. The rise of the well-funded Super Packs, greedy Corporations and media/social spin (on the part of all political parties) has taken our society away from requiring TRUTH.

We have been torn down by the sheer volume of lies that we can’t keep up with.

We even have ways that a lie is excused as just a little white lie or an acceptable excuse for bending the truth. Then, in the very recent past a very strange and new concept has made its way into the mainstream. That is the concept of “Alternative Facts.”

I ask you what an alternative fact is? A lie? An illusion? A wish? A distortion of the Truth?

As a Spiritual writer, I often ask you to pause the noise of your life to tune in and listen to the wisdom of your Soul, to that inner sense of knowing that will always reveal the Truth. Now, it is easy to ignore that inner voice. It is much easier to believe something the media is saying (or our leaders) or something different from what your inner voice is telling you.

Being aware of your Higher Self (your Soul) may require acknowledging all of the little compromises you have made in your life that are not congruent with what you know, deep down, to be right. It may require you to re-examine concepts that have gone out of fashion in our modern world. I believe the Truth is worth it.

STAND FOR HONOR

Unfortunately, the concept of Truth is not the only one that has been under assault. There is “honor” that does not even seem to make it into the conversation in today’s world. The morality codes that we all learned as children, ways of guiding human behavior that go back in time to the known beginnings of time, such as the Golden Rule, have been ignored.

It is not that we don’t still know these codes; it is that morality seems to be vacationing in a world where right is compromised for convenience. This has led us to a society and an almost unbelievable world.

The United States, which had long been seen as the shining example to Truth, is now being led by a man in 2020 who has, in his leadership, told over 20,055+ well-documented false or misleading claims and mostly only thinks of himself. Yet, many of us repeat and spout his lies (because we have been financially enriched) as if Truth is not real but rather something of political opinion. It is as if him saying a lie will somehow make it real. I point this out not as a statement of politics but as a call of consciousness to the people of the world.

Right is still right and wrong is still wrong. How we treat one another matters. We are each responsible for what we do and how we treat our planet.

It is an inconvenient truth that harming others ultimately harms you. No matter how many excuses you may make for yourself to justify acting against what you know deep in your heart and deep in your Soul to be wrong, you know you are not living what is right.

These compromises with Honor and Truth have been worming their way into our society for a long time. However, that does not make lies into Truth. We as Americans have watched somewhat powerlessly as children are ripped from the arms of Mothers who came to America believing in the promise of America inscribed on the Statue of Liberty in our New York harbor.

Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me; I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

This honorable statement has long demonstrated the aspiration of the United States of America. And although like all hopes we, as a nation, have not always shown the Truth of these words, never before has a political administration had the hubris and shamelessness to amend these words.

Where is the outrage of the public? Where are our Senators, our Congressmen, our advocates? We are supposed to be a representative republic.

This act is one more example of the violation of morals that is currently plaguing our society. It is one more example of the Golden Rule being tossed aside in favor of money and greed. It is one more example of how the pure qualities of kindness and compassion are being compromised by the desire and greed that evil has introduced into our world.

Likewise, history has taught us the vast danger of allowing lies to replace Truth in a society. Nazi architect Joseph Gobble proved that.

The whole Nazi part of the history of humanity was based upon telling lies so outrageous that they became ignored, even by good people. It is dangerous to see the possibility of history repeating itself.

The amount of documented false or misleading claims by President Donald Trump varies because excuses are made for him by removing from the count lies pundits say may just have been ignorance. These are just a part of the compromises with the Truth that are being woven into our society by evil.

TIME TO TAKE A STAND

When as Edmund Burke observed, good men (or women) do nothing, they are letting evil triumph. It is time for some accountability.

I am calling on you, who read my words to open your heart and your mind to the wisdom of your Soul and take a stand for Truth and let your light shine.

Take a stand for right human relationships. Take a stand for what you know is right and speak out against the travesties against justice, Truth, honor, kindness, and compassion that are invading our world today.

It is time for the men and women of Goodwill to take a stand and apply Spiritual Truths to the material corruption of evil in our world. Right is still right. Wrong is still wrong. America has long identified itself as a Christian nation. I ask you all now, where is the Christian Church in this moral crisis?

We are, as a world and not only as a nation, in an epic conflict between the forces of good and evil. Human consciousness is at a crucial step in evolution that is bringing these issues to the attention of the world to enable and encourage us to make a stand and grow as a society.

Make a stand for kindness and compassion. Make a stand for honor. Make a stand for justice. Make a stand for right-action. Make a stand to be able to leave your children and grandchildren a world where good is demonstrated, and evil is defeated.

It is up to you! You are responsible! You can make a difference! You are not powerless! It is time to let the truth of your spirit shine!

If you have had enough, I am asking you to consider my words a call to action for you to TAKE A STAND. To listen to your sense of what is right and listen to the voice of your conscience about what is wrong and to honor yourself and honor others by standing up right here, right now, today.

Will You Stand For Truth?

I do not spend my time writing about politics. That is not my life’s purpose. It is not my mission.

I do not even make political comments on Facebook.

My focus is on spiritual values and right relationships, love, harmlessness, right speech.

So, imagine my amazement when the direction I received from my Soul in my morning meditations was that I must write about the topic of truth. Now, I have written about truth before, but never because of something political. This is entirely new for me. But there are times in life when it is important to take a stand for truth.

Sadly, my stand today must have a political overtone to it. That stand is that I cannot be silent as I let the truth be hijacked by lies.

ALTERNATIVE FACTS

Kellyanne Conway, President and CEO of a Polling Company and Counselor to Donald Trump (the current President of the United States at the time of this post), came out to the American people trying to make obvious lies acceptable by calling them “alternative facts.” That is just wrong!

The truth is such a powerful force that I have often suggested that you listen to the inner promptings of truth as the arbiter of what you believe. I have even asked people to use that inner sense of truth to determine whether what I teach and say should influence their lives.

That, of course, comes from the understanding that truth is the truth, and, as such, has the resonance of the Soul to it. What is so very dangerous about this concept of “alternative facts” is that it is a perversion of truth and just plain evil in its nature.

Opinions are always open to interpretation. Your perspective on something can be modified, and that modification can determine how you experience something, particularly emotionally, however; a fact, by definition is a fact. It is objective and real, and it is not subjective.

ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is.

DEFINITIONS OF FACT

Wikipedia Definition: A fact is something that has really occurred or is actually correct. The usual test for a statement of fact is verifiability—that is, whether it can be demonstrated to correspond to experience. Standard reference works are often used to check facts. Scientific facts are verified by repeatable careful observation or measurement (by experiments or other means).

Merriam-Webster Definition: Something that truly exists or happens : something that has actual existence. : a true piece of information.

Dictionary.com Definition: Something that actually exists; reality; truth: A truth known by actual experience or observation.

When someone tries to convince people that something that is true is not a fact or an “alternate fact,” that is a lie.

It is important that you realize and understand this. It is important because truth is a powerful force for knowing what is good and right.

Jesus understood this and taught this when in John 8:32 he said,

and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
– Jesus Christ (King James Bible)

The truth makes you free because that resonance that the truth responds to is the resonance of your Soul (and Love.) Connecting to the wisdom and promptings of your Soul is what guides you in right action in life. It is what makes clear what is right and what is wrong. It is The Truth.

ALTERNATIVE FACTS ARE JUST WRONG

Perhaps the most dangerous part of what is happening with this concept of “facts” is that you must silence the wisdom of your Soul to believe an “alternative fact,” which is not a fact at all, just a lie dressed up to serve a particular political agenda.

To play fast and loose with the truth is morally wrong. It is not ‘just politics,’ it is just wrong.

It is wrong because it is “Gaslighting“ (a common technique abusers, dictators, narcissists, and cult leaders use.) Because truth resonates deep within your heart, your mind, and your Soul, I believe a lie takes you to your dark side.

When spoken by someone in a position of leadership a lie can be dangerous. It is dangerous because people must move away from the knowing in their Soul when they try to believe a lie. The more they force themselves to believe a lie, the more they must reject their internal sense of knowing and connection with their higher source.

The Psychology Today website states that people who “Gaslight” mostly use the following techniques:

They tell you blatant lies.
They deny they ever said something, even though you have proof.
They use what is near and dear to you as ammunition.
They wear you down over time.
Their actions do not match their words.
They throw in positive reinforcement to confuse you.
They know confusion weakens people.
They project (and accuse you of the same wrongdoing.)
They try to align people against you.
They tell you or others that you are crazy.
They tell you everyone else is a liar.

Do the techniques above sound familiar? You know what they are saying is an outright lie. Yet they are telling you this lie with a straight face. You know they said they would do something… you know you heard it. But they out and out deny it. It makes you start questioning your reality. And the more they do this, the more you question your reality and start accepting theirs.

Gaslighters are masters at manipulating and finding people they know will stand by them no matter what – and they will use these people against you. By telling you that everyone else (your family, the media) is a liar, it again makes you question your reality. What is so amazing is that you usually have never known someone with the boldness to do this, so they must be right, right? No! It’s a manipulation technique.

Many good and well-meaning people have let their love of their political party lead them down this slippery slope that evil will use. History has shown us, and I pray taught us, the evil consequences of people making compromises with truth. To compromise your morality is spiritually dangerous and can be politically disastrous.

Hitler’s propaganda chief supposedly said,

If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it,
people will eventually come to believe it.
– Joseph Goebbels

Although it is not clear who first said this, it seems that idea predated Goebbels and Hitler. The bottom line is that harm is created with a lie and it brings you out of resonance with your inner sense of knowing, an inner moral compass which knows the “real” truth and directs your life.

That is why it is important to call a lie a lie and not dress it up with fancy words that dismiss and diminish the importance of the lie by calling it a falsehood. That is why the political art of spinning what happened is currently so damaging to the world.

Evil is tricky. It tries to dress itself up to look good. That is how it makes good people, moral people, complacent.

The fact that this is the second time I have felt compelled to use the above quote in a brief span of time is because the world is at a tipping point. This is particularly the case in the United States of America, but as I ponder, meditate and pray about this issue, I realize the slippery slope of playing fast and loose with the truth has been going on for quite a while. This trend is not only in the United States but has been growing throughout the world.

TIME TO TAKE A STAND

As happens in the world, events and circumstances have emerged at this moment in time that requires you to decide what you believe.

It is a time to decide where do you stand? Do you stand for truth or are you willing to accept alternate facts, racist comments, and lies as truth?

When you get to the core of the above questions, they really are not just political but rather spiritual.

Many people have responded with anger and fear to the recent political decisions that have been made on both “sides of the pond,” as they call the Atlantic Ocean.

As Master Yoda put clearly in the movie Star Wars,

Fear is the path to the dark side.
Fear leads to anger.
Anger leads to hate.

The answer to the challenges of this world moment is not anger or hate.

The answer is Love.

Humanity has come to this critical moment in history not as an accident but as a crucial stage in our spiritual and moral evolution.

Choices lie before us; decisions that will affect not only our country and people but the evolution of the planet as a whole.

The consequences of greed and separateness are now becoming more apparent. What happens next is your choice. The fate of humanity hangs in the balance.

I believe it is more important to stand for what you believe than it is to stand against something.

The world your children will inherit, and your children’s children will inhabit is just one of the many decisions that hang in the balance of this moment of moral history.

I choose Love. Not the “sticky love of attachment and need” but the powerful transforming dynamic unconditional Love that Divinely inspires you throughout your human adventure of life.

Along with choosing Love, I choose Unity and Brotherhood (and Sisterhood). I choose Truth. I choose Justice. I choose Liberty.

I choose Right over wrong, and I choose Good over evil.

I invite and encourage you to look into your heart and connect with your Soul and make the choices that resonate as right for you and your country.

We the people of the world are at a time when it is necessary to decide and choose. I encourage you to choose Harmlessness, Right Speech, and Right Action not only for your highest good but for the highest good of all.

To make the right choice requires honoring the truth. That requires honesty not only with yourself but also with the world. Truth is not a “situational reality.” It is either real or not, a truth or a lie. Your Soul calls to you to honor what is true and take a stand.
