Two Secrets To Ignite the Law of Attraction

Two Secrets To Ignite the Law of Attraction

Appreciation & Gratitude to Ignite The Law of Attraction

There are a number of secrets in what is known as the Law of Attraction. It is by incorporating them into your life that you will gain mastery and abundance.

The Law of Attraction, like many of the universal principles that govern life, is stimulated and empowered by what you do.

As with all of these universal laws and principles, the more consciously you employ them, have appreciation in the moment and then take action, the more effective they are. This is the far-reaching benefit of living a conscious life.

Living a conscious life means having the willingness, curiosity, and courage to stay present to your thoughts and feelings, to the meeting point of body, emotion, mind, and spirit.

It means staying present to the impact you have on others and your environment, as well as the choices available to you. To live a conscious life—to be awake and aware—is to be gloriously alive!”
      – Dr. Jennifer Howard,
Host of the weekly radio talk show, A Conscious Life

1. Living A Conscious Life

Living consciously involves understanding and incorporating many of the tools and techniques that are available from the Ageless Wisdom.

Conscious living is an underlying theme in most of the Wisdom Wednesday blogs I write because it is a key element in living a happy and successful life in which the choices you make have a direct impact on your experience of joy and life.

Revealing and encouraging you to use these ageless tools and techniques and to learn to live an integrated life where you can express and enjoy your life purpose and your Soul purpose, is what this Wisdom Wednesday blog series is all about and what fuels all of my meditation products.

You may have noticed that Abundance is a theme that I address repetitively because it is a challenge in so many lives.

To assist you, I have a free download on the home page of my website called Invocation of Magnetic Attraction. It is available for you today along with a downloadable PDF of the Invocation that you can print and use. In addition, two of my most successful products, “Awaken to Success” and “Soaring to Success,” offer affirmations for abundance. You will find that this is an area of life that responds to the conscious focus of the technique of affirming what you are striving to achieve and has the added benefit of increasing your enjoyment of life’s adventure.

Appreciation and gratitude signal your mind that this is something good, this is something you want, this is something that you desire. Therefore, the act of conscious appreciation works as a powerful magnet to bring to you more of what you enjoy.
      – Genevieve Gerard

2. Gratitude and Appreciation

The very act of appreciation works in many ways.

First, it focuses your attention on what you already have in a positive and dynamic way. This unleashes the subtle power of the Law of Attraction. Immediately upon noticing what you have that you appreciate you are affirming your abilities. When your attention is upon what you have accomplished in life and have already received, you are naturally stimulated to consider creative solutions to current goals and desires.

This starts a chain reaction that leads to even greater success. Your creativity is stimulated with new ideas. Solutions to issues you have held in the background of your mind open up to you. This is a subtle alchemy that influences your life.

It is no surprise that people are more open, receptive and generous to those who express their gratitude. This is a significant factor in successful relationships, both personal and business. Appreciation is a powerful stimulant to do more and give more of what is appreciated. That is a subtle dynamic of how the Law of Attraction works that is both logical and easy to understand.

This energetic principle also utilizes the dynamic principle that “energy follows thought.” These combined forces make a powerful tonic for creating success in your life. To use these tools to enhance your success just makes sense.

Just as thoughts, send out vibrations to which there is a creative and attractive power, gratitude stimulates the field of etheric energy that surrounds you on a subtle level to bring into your life more of what brings you joy.
      – Genevieve Gerard

The Law of attraction and the dynamic principle that Energy Follows Thought are at work in the world whether you use them or not. They can be used consciously for your advantage or denied and ignored completely. Whether they are used or not, they are still at work. That is the nature of universal laws and principles. They are amazingly impersonal. Yet, by consciously using these laws and principles in your life, you have at your command ways to impact and influence your life for good, for success, for joy.

Expressing your appreciation works by energetically magnetizing to you more of what you appreciate. When your appreciation is expressed to someone else, everybody in the situation feels good. That seems like a pretty great result by doing something that is easy to do.

Appreciation is a wonderful thing: it makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well.”
      – Voltaire

Consider your life today. As the year is winding down into the oblivion of the past and a shiny new year is ahead, it is a good time to take stock of and consider the many ways you have been blessed. I suggest you use this period to try an experiment.

Create an Appreciation List

Make a list of 10 things in your life, which you truly appreciate about your life. As you move through your days leading up to the New Year, express your appreciation for those things.

If there is someone who enhances your life, let them know you appreciate them.

As often as you can throughout the day, remember what is on your list and express your appreciation for it, even if it is only in your mind, silently. Let yourself be filled and strengthened by the satisfaction and happiness that expressing your appreciation brings.

It is helpful to review your “appreciation list” every morning. You can make a copy of the list to post on your mirror or copy it into your mobile phone. Make it available and accessible, easy to consider, easy to remember, easy to express.

So much of our thinking is habitual. If you make it your habit to appreciate what you already have you are incorporating one of the most effective techniques of conscious living.

In the weeks before the New Year, consciously observe what opportunities and circumstances reveal themselves to you around the items on your “appreciation list.” I think you will be delightfully surprised.

Igniting the Law of Attraction in your life can have far-reaching impact. Using the powerful principle of appreciation as a magnetic force for what you wish to attract can enhance your effectiveness.

I suggest you experiment and then observe your life on a variety of levels.

At the end of this posts are some related links that you may find helpful and supportive. I invite you to share your impressions either in the Transformation Stories page of my website or as a comment at the end of this post.

Choose to take this fertile time and open up to the new possibilities and promise of a New Year. Through appreciation and gratitude, you will be taking an important step in creating the life that you desire.

Namaste,

Genevieve

Principles of Goodwill

Principles of Goodwill:

Start With Harmlessness and Right Speech

Read Harmlessness and Right Speech blog post by Genevieve Gerard

Goodwill has been called, a saving force in the midst of world need.

Its keynote is liberation of the human spirit, releasing consciousness into more creative livingness.

The Ageless Wisdom teaches that there are some essential principles to guide the actions of men and women of Goodwill.

They are Harmlessness and Right Speech.

It is significant to note that even before considering doing good in the world, is the instruction to do no harm. This principle of Harmlessness has far-reaching implications.

In order to live by this principle you must consider the consequences of your actions. Those consequences are often far-reaching and can be unintended. In order to live without doing harm, it is necessary to be conscious of both yourself and others.

Perhaps that is why the masters of old instructed by emphasizing this principle. It is significant that in the ancient teachings this principle is paired with the important concept of Right Speech. It is interesting that the principle of Harmlessness requires that you consider not only what you say but often what you leave unsaid.

Words are powerful. They are alchemical aspects of the process of creation. Right Speech is a basic tenant of the similar principles of Right Action and Right Relationship. These are wise guidelines for conscious living.

Any fool can criticize, condemn, and complain – and most fools do. But it takes character and self-control to be understanding and forgiving…

Let’s try to figure out why they do what they do. That’s a lot more profitable and intriguing than criticism; and it breeds sympathy, tolerance, and kindness.”
      – Dale Carnegie

It is certainly easier to avoid damage than to heal or repair it. I have often thought that this fact is the greatest significance of this guidance. The awareness that focusing on these two principles requires accomplishes a great deal in creating a happy life with successful relationships.

As I write these words, I am reminded of Dale Carnegie’s famous teachings in his bookHow to Win Friends and Influence People.” His book was one of the first best-selling self-help books, selling over 15 million copies and was certainly an important guideline for success. It not only focused on business success but personal right relationships with others. Check out a free pdf copy of the book using the link at the end of this post.

Fill your mind with thoughts of peace, courage, health and hope.”
      – Dale Carnegie

Being successful in life is a key to manifesting your life purpose. Being in right relationship with others and successful and mutually supportive and having loving relationships is a cornerstone to that happiness. Note: Being aware of the factors of harmlessness as you observe and consider your behavior can be a powerful guideline for you.

These are active and dynamic principles. When you add your scrutiny of the factors of your behavior and consider Harmlessness and Right Speech as the desired standard by which you live, a myriad of pitfalls and possible future problems will be avoided. I think everyone would agree that it is easier to prevent a problem than to have to fix it later. This is one of the benefits of applying these principles of consciousness to your life.

Applying the principles of consciousness to your life can have far-reaching implications as it affects the life you create for yourself. The principle of energy follows thought is woven into these profound consequences. Managing your expectations of yourself and others can have a profound impact on your personal happiness and success. Conscious living can be its own reward.

So many of the tools that can enhance your life are found in striving for an understanding of the fullness of your life. Being a happy and successful human being is empowered by increasing your awareness of all that you can bring to your life by the integration of your body, your mind, your emotions and ultimately, your Soul.

It is this intention to live consciously that considering the principles of Harmlessness and Right Speech empowers. There are many ways you can influence your life and gain and maintain a happier and more prosperous life that are included in the teachings of the Ageless Wisdom. There are meditation tools and techniques that can help you transcend your fears. In fact, there are practices in meditation to resolve most of the challenges of living. Learning to use them and apply them in a variety of situations and circumstances can give you a real advantage over life.

Key issues of successful living can benefit and be brought into mastery through meditation. The range is as vast as life itself. I believe that life does not create challenges that cannot be resolved. The very fact that you are facing a particular issue or challenge is a sign that there is a lesson, method, practice or technique that can be applied to bring you to a definite solution. This goes for even some of the most difficult issues.

Life is a school, and the curriculum is custom designed to
teach what I need to know exactly when I need to learn it.
      – Genevieve Gerard

Miraculously, each lesson builds on what I have learned before. I am given the opportunity to demonstrate what I have learned and to avoid mistakes I have made previously. This is a dynamic, ongoing process. Ponder on this!

I have found along the way that some of the life’s lessons are simple, once they have been learned. Even if they are simple, does not make them easy. Simple and easy seem to be two very different things. To apply what I have learned and then integrate it into action and relationships makes it real.

Not surprisingly, I have found that my personal struggles, issues, and challenges are also the struggles, issues, and challenges of others. Therefore, what I have learned through trial and error can be provided to help others gain mastery and success. This motivates me to create, write and teach on an ongoing basis. When what I have produced in my body of work helps you and serves others, it gives me a sense of great satisfaction and joy.

Joy, delight, and fulfilling the purpose of your Soul are a significant part of why the adventure of life was created. It seems that we are each on a quest to enlightened awareness. Although it is a personal journey, we travel it together for our mutual success and advantage.

That makes these principles of Harmlessness and Right Speech of paramount importance. It makes forgiveness, of others and as important forgiveness of ourselves essential. It makes releasing unrealistic expectations significant.

It makes eliminating negative criticism of others and oneself important. It focuses us on issues of Right Relationship and all that it entails crucial. It makes it essential that we understand the implications of how what we do affects others paramount.

In the human experience, a fellowship is available for mutual support and mutual benefit. That is the source of many of the greatest challenges and the greatest successes. It is in the awareness of our unity and common humanity that we can fulfill both our personal destiny and our group destiny as humanity.

Harmlessness and Right Speech are just rules of the road to help you live a happy and successful life. Therefore I suggest that you consider your actions and your speech in light of these principles and then observe how much happier and more successful you become.

Plato is said to have recommended this test to consider before you speak.

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it beneficial?

Apply this standard and incorporate these principles of Right Speech and Harmlessness as a test to what you say and do.

The supply of goodwill in the world today is limited only by the minds of human beings. According to the Ancient Teachings as shared by Alice A. Bailey, part of the Plan for this cycle is goodwill for all people, and through all people, goodwill.

The energy of the Will of God serves to awaken the latent Will-to-Good in the souls of all men and women. When dynamically awakened, this Will-to-Good will stimulate the expression of goodwill in all receptive hearts and minds.

Living consciously and incorporating these ancient wise principles can be cornerstones of your success and happiness. Please don’t forget that Goodwill is contagious, and once set in motion it will permeate the world consciousness so that right human relations can be more rapidly established.

Namaste,

 Genevieve

Discover How To Love Yourself

Discover How To Love Yourself

Read Discover How To Love Yourself by Genevieve Gerard

What does it mean to love yourself?

Discovering how to love yourself is an essential part of good mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Loving yourself is also demonstrated by the ways you take care of your body, by eating well, sleeping well and giving yourself the things you need to thrive, to grow and to be successful and happy.

Loving your self is one of the first and important steps to a successful loving relationship.

It might seem that to love yourself is so basic that it is easy and natural. However, in my many years as a counselor and a coach, I have found that for many people this is a challenge.

There is a lot of glamour and illusion about what it means to love. That is true when it comes to relationships and especially true when it comes to loving yourself. Loving yourself, honoring yourself and respecting yourself are foundations of a loving and healthy relationship.

It is said, that before you can love someone else you must first love yourself. So ask yourself what you can do to learn to demonstrate self-love if you realize it lacks in your life. Take the very first step to understanding and acknowledge that you are worthy of being loved, exactly as you are. In one of my previous articles “The Greatest Love”, there are eight affirmations you might find helpful in this process. (I have provided a link to that article at the bottom of this article.)

Relationships with others, especially romantic relationships, all too often fail to result in the fantasy of “happily ever after.” To sustain a real relationship you need to establish realistic boundaries of what you are willing to give in a relationship and what is not acceptable in a relationship. Knowing yourself, respecting yourself and being true to yourself in a relationship is vital.

Shakespeare said it well in Hamlet with Polonius’s advice to his son.

To thine own self be true. And it shall follow as the night to the day, thou can’st not be false to any man.

Being true to yourself and honest in your agreement’s with loved ones are critical.

My grandmother once gave me the sage advice:

Don’t put up with the first day in a relationship behavior you are not willing to accept for the rest of your life.

When I think of the times and ways that I failed to heed that advice, I see many of my life’s mistakes that could have been avoided in friendships, in romances and even in business relationships.

How To Love Yourself

Integral to my grandmothers advice is to both know and respect yourself, and honor and love yourself, as someone who is both deserving of love and who loves themselves.

It is wise to honor yourself, know yourself and then, in any new relationship consider what is acceptable to you. In this way, you are true to yourself, and you are beginning a new relationship open to a future built on honesty and mutual respect. This establishes a context in which you can learn to love one another, grow and thrive together.

A part of learning to love yourself is letting yourself both accept and receive the love that is all around you. There are so many ways that you can demonstrate your love and so many ways that love can enrich your life. Love is something that spans all of your relationships. It guides your relationships with friends, with family, and lovers. It is integral to your relationship with the Divine.

Love is available for you. Open your life to it. Love is all around you. Let yourself accept the love that is coming to you, from relations and God. Your Soul is an unlimited source for loving yourself. I have found you can open yourself to that love and receive that love directly through meditation.

Love truly makes the world go around and is fundamental and reflected in all of your relationships. Loving yourself is a guideline you can use in all of your relationships.

Accepting and appreciating Divine Love affirms that you are a spark of Divine Light, and you are worthy of receiving love. Using the love of God and the love that your Soul brings to you, demonstrates to you what it means to love.

Having received love, you are also a source for love in the world.
        – Genevieve Gerard

An essential element of your ability to love is also your ability to love yourself. In the love that you give, you can be a blessing to others. Ponder on this.

When you love someone, you value and appreciate who they are and accept them. The same is true about loving yourself. You are unique and special. Appreciate, accept and enjoy who you are.

You are not perfect, but there is no reason you should be. Treat yourself with the compassion you would show to another. You have made mistakes in your life. Forgive yourself. There are faults and issues you are striving to resolve. Be gentle with yourself.

You are in an ongoing process of growing, transforming and becoming more and more of the person you are meant to be. Support that in yourself, for yourself.

Life is all about learning lessons. No mistake is meaningless if you have learned from it and grown from it. When you show patience and compassion for yourself, it becomes easier to show patience and compassion to others.

By forgiving yourself, you become a more forgiving person. The compassion and grace that you open up to become available in all of your relationships. As you learn to accept and respect yourself, you are also learning how to accept and respect others.

Learning to love yourself is an ongoing lesson in how to love, that makes you a better person. By loving yourself, you are demonstrating the skills and behaviors that are needed to demonstrate your love to others.

Ultimately, you know love because God loves you unconditionally and this love is shown to you with unlimited forgiveness, profound grace, and acceptance. When you let yourself accept and receive this love you are empowered to be a force for love in the world. You become a better person, a happier person and a more successful person.

You can be love, give love, demonstrate love with respect and honor for both yourself and others. The more you love, the more joy that comes into your life and the happier you become.

Namaste,

Listen To Your Intuition

Listen To Your Intuition

– A Thanksgiving Story About Intuition

Listen To Your Intuition - A Thanksgiving Story About Intuition by Genevieve Gerard

Intuition is one of the most useful and powerful spiritual gifts we have.

If I think back over the scope of my life, I can recall times when I felt that glimmer of warning that said do not do this or that, but then I ignored that still small voice and went ahead and did whatever it was I was planning to do.

And, when things did not work out as I had wished or planned, I may have conveniently forgotten that still small inner voice that warned me.

Have you ever done this?

The fact is, if I am really and profoundly honest with myself, many of the mistakes I have made in my life could have been avoided if I had listened to the still quiet inner voice of my intuition.

That voice can be so quiet that it is very easily dismissed. Also, the needs of others, or following through on previously agreed upon plans, can silence that soft urging.

Story About Intuition

One incident that I often use to remind myself of the value of intuition occurred on Thanksgiving many years ago.

My husband and I were getting ready to go to his Mother’s house for Thanksgiving dinner. We were bringing the cooked Turkey for the entire family to feast on.

He had just carefully loaded my larger car and as I was getting into the car, when I had a flash of intuition. We needed to take his sportier smaller car, not mine.

When I told him, I felt we needed to take the other car he was annoyed. He felt we just needed to get in the car and go.

About a month earlier, we had been in an auto accident when a truck turned in front of us without room to stop. After that accident, I had commented that I had felt an earlier intuition, which I had not mentioned. He stressed that I should mention these feelings.

So this time, I stopped and tuned into the intuition a bit more. Then held my ground saying I think we will need to make a sudden stop that my larger car would not be able to make.

Grumbling, my husband loaded the other car, and we were off.

Of course, after an exchange like that, one always feels a bit foolish. It seemed silly to take the time to move everything to a different car because of a still quiet thought to intuition. It could so easily be wrong.

As we proceeded to his Mother’s home, we were just starting on a Freeway ramp when from out of the sky a car flew down from our left and rolling in the air finally landed on its roof right in front of us.

We were just barely able to stop our car from smashing into that car.

When we stopped and got out to see what the situation was, my husband helped pull several small children out of the back seat of the inverted wrecked car that was now leaking fluids. They were frightened but uninjured and alive.

If we had taken my larger car, we would never have been able to stop as fast. The children would have undoubtedly been injured, perhaps fatally.

It seems the driver of the car before us, who was unfamiliar with the area, was taking the children to a movie when she missed a ramp and swerved to catch it, not realizing that it dropped off a steep incline and was not a continuation of the road.

To harm those children, even though we would not have been at fault, would have been devastating to our lives and the families of the children. They would have been injured for life or most likely killed.

By that brief decision to honor the small quiet voice of intuition, all of that was avoided and lives were saved.

Of course, my husband never got the smell of the spilled Turkey Juice out of that car, but that was a small price to pay. This reminded me of an Oprah story on How a Hunch Can Save Your Life and avoid what could have been such a disaster.

Listen To Your Intuition

As I look over my life I can see other times when I ignored that nudge of intuition and had to live out the consequences of things that deep in my heart I know I was warned, very quietly, very subtly not to do.

Failing to listen and then proceeding to do those things were actions that have proved to be some of the most damaging and foolish mistakes in my life.

In those times that I failed to listen to my intuition I realize, with the always clear advantage of hindsight, that to listen to your intuition may require stopping doing something you had planned or committed to doing and the flash of intuition seemed to come too late to stop it without disappointing others. Had I had the strength and wisdom to act on that flash of intuition several devastating life mistakes could have been avoided.

Having ignored the still voice of my intuition I had to live out the consequences of what could have been avoided if I had let myself stop and be true to the urging of my intuition. In most of those incidents to act on my intuition would have required standing up to others, or disappointing others, as I did not follow through on established plans.

Accept The Gift of Intuition

I realize as I consider many past situations, I could have avoided a great deal that was painful and difficult in my life if I had had the courage and conviction to honor and accept the gift of my intuition.

The only real valuable thing is intuition - Albert Einstein

Now, older and I hope wiser I listen to the small silent voice of my intuition recognizing it as a prompting of the wisdom of my Higher Self.

Now, I encourage you to listen to the still voice of your intuition when it speaks to you and to honor it.

It may require quieting your mind and asserting yourself with no proof that what you are doing differently is actually avoiding a disaster.

It is only hindsight that can confirm to you that acting on your intuition avoided a disastrous circumstance. In fact, many times when you listen to your intuition and act upon it, you will never know if what you avoided would have happened, since everything changed when you honored that intuitive urge.

Recognize your intuition as the guidance of your Soul and honor it,
by trusting it.”
       – Genevieve Gerard

In my life, I have learned to listen to and honor that still quiet voice of my intuition and I encourage you to do the same.

During the time of the holidays let us give thanks and have gratitude for the gifts we are given. Especially those where we are guided by the wisdom of our Soul.

Namaste,

   Genevieve Gerard

The Parable of the Cup of Tea

The Parable of the Cup of Tea

The Parable of the Cup of Tea - Genevieve Gerard

There exists in the stories of those who desire enlightenment, an ancient parable of a wealthy and powerful man who heard of a great spiritual teacher who lived on a mountaintop.

This wealthy and powerful man was used to the best of everything and was used to getting whatever he wanted in life.

One day he resolved that he should have the best, not only in life but also in his spiritual teaching. Having made this determination, he journeyed to the mountaintop to seek out the most famous wise man and engage him as his teacher.

When the man finally arrived at the mountaintop, he was dismayed by the rustic and simple nature of the teacher’s home. The guest quarters were not up to his standards. He found himself rethinking his decision to seek enlightenment from this man. Surely, the best teacher would have a better house. Certainly, the place for those who come to study should have more comforts and more amenities. Finally, full of judgments and disapproval, he decided to stay and see what this wise man had to offer.

The man’s frustration began to increase daily as he was told that the master could not see him yet and he would have to wait. He did not like this at all. After all, he was a prominent and successful man. Didn’t the foolish people who served the master know how valuable his time was? Maybe the disorganized and disrespectful way they ran the business of managing the master’s engagements was why they could not afford a better house for the master, and better quarters for their quests. He resolved to provide the master with this insight as soon as he saw him.

As the days passed, the man found himself growing increasingly impatient and angry. He resolved that if he did not see the master the next day and start to get the instruction he had come for, he was going to leave and look elsewhere for his instruction. After all, this was not the only master on the mountain. He had only come here because he had heard this master was the best. He was certainly reconsidering that opinion.

The next morning a messenger came to tell the man that the master could see him. “About time,” he thought, but now that the time was here, he resolved to meet with the master to accomplish his purpose of beginning his enlightenment instruction.

He was delighted that he was served a steaming hot cup of tea. When the master entered, he sat before the man, took up the teapot, and said, “Let me serve you some tea.” He then began to pour. As the teacup began to overflow, the man cried out. “Stop, can’t you see it is overflowing, you fool.”

The master calmly stopped, looked at the man and said,

I cannot teach you. You, like the teacup, are too full.
You are filled with your own opinions and sense of importance.
You must first empty yourself out, to be able to
receive real knowledge or understanding.
      – Tea Cup Parable

Ponder on this.

When you decide to grow, to change and transform your life, it is important to open your mind to new ideas and concepts. A part of growth is letting go of old ideas or ways of being, to make room for new concepts that will serve you better.

The journey through life is an adventure. To grow, you must expand your awareness to new thoughts that will serve you as the person you are becoming.

All that is past, both your failures and your successes, are resolved as you open yourself to the power of the present. Open your life to the promise and potential that is unfolding and being created in the miracle and magnificence of an open mind and an open heart as you explore all of the ways you can awaken to the new opportunities and the successes and joys that are in the process of being created for you by life today.

Embrace the possibility of transforming your life as you shed the old and open to new opportunities right here, right now, today.

Namaste,

Ways to Use Affirmations

Ways to Use Affirmations to Transform Your Life

Ways To Use Powerful Affirmations | Genevieve Gerard

Affirmations are a powerful tool you can use to help you transform your life.

When you use an affirmation you are consciously deciding what you want and then activating the energy to help it manifest.

What you are affirming is activated energetically to enable your affirmation to become true. That is how it works. That is why it works.

When you use an affirmation, you are also affirming the truth of your role as a co-creator in your life.

According to Wikipedia, affirmations in New Thought and New Age terminology refer primarily to the practice of positive thinking and self-empowerment—fostering a belief that “a positive mental attitude supported by affirmations will achieve success in anything.” More specifically, an affirmation is a carefully formatted statement that should be repeated to one’s self and written down frequently. For an affirmation to be effective, it needs to be present tense, positive, personal and specific.

Through affirmations, you engage a number of very important universal laws and principles. One of the most popular of the universal laws that affirmations utilize is the Law of Attraction. The other important factor when you use an affirmation is that energy follows thought. The very decision to invoke an affirmation in your desire to transform your life begins an energetic force of subtle energies to bring about what you are affirming into manifestation.

When you identify with something, especially when you make an evocative declaration, by an “I am” statement, you are guiding and directing things to what you desire. This becomes an important factor in your self-talk. You then begin to think in a way that is congruent with that affirmation and feel in a way that is congruent with what you are affirming.

Using positive affirmations can help you achieve a specific state of mind or state of consciousness.

To demonstrate this point let us try a very quick experiment.

Say to yourself in your mind:
I am at peace.

Then truly believing what you are saying,
repeat that phrase in your mind three more times.

I am at peace.
I am at peace.
I am at peace.

Do you feel more peaceful and calm? Almost everyone does. This is a very simple and easy technique you can use to calm your mind and your body by using an affirmation.

Affirmations can be extremely helpful in the art of transforming your life when you target them to strengthen an area where you realize you need to expand or enhance a specific quality in yourself.

When using an affirmation in this way you can magnify the effectiveness of the desired change by placing the affirmation on the mirror and then observe yourself saying the affirmation. This works on multiple levels.

  1. You identify with your image in the mirror.
  2. An affirmation is most effective when you resonate with it emotionally as well as with your mind.
  3. Saying an affirmation before a mirror activates your will by focusing your creative power to help what you are affirming manifest.

I Am Calm Centered and Confident Meme by Genevieve Gerard

Memes, especially those with a picture that evoke a strong and positive emotion that is congruent with the words of the affirmation are a good way to use affirmations.

Likewise, having positive affirmations played in the background while you are doing other things can do a great deal to empower you. Your subconscious is easiest to influence when your mind is busy with other tasks. The success of this method of using affirmations was a primary factor in my creation of my affirmations for abundance CDs, Soaring to Success and Awaken to Success. You are in complete control to pick which of the affirmations you like to listen to (there are no subliminal embedded audio in any of my products.) See the link at the end of this post.

These work especially well as a tool you can use while you travel to work or go on any errands.

There is both an art and a science to using affirmations. Using an affirmation is most effective when you create and say the affirmation with all levels and layers of your being.

  1. An affirmation is a way of activating your co-creator role in your life in unity with the Divine, so you want what you are affirming to be aligned with your life purpose and Soul purpose and be realistically attainable.
  2. An affirmation activates the dynamic energy of thought reflected in the wisdom: “As a man thinks, so he is.”
  3. An affirmation emerges from your desire and therefore activates your will to do, in cooperation with your will to be.
  4. To then behave in a way that is congruent with what you are affirming empowers you by “Acting as If” you have already achieved what you are affirming.
  5. It is great to affirm what you need and desire however, you still need to take action on those thoughts to attain your ultimate outcome.

This incorporation of your mind, emotions and then action, aligned with your Higher Self and your life purpose is an integrated way to empower your life and bring about the transformations and change that you have chosen.

Using affirmations is a powerful way for you to gain mastery over your life. When you resolve to make your life better, affirmations are an instrument you can use to increase your effectiveness to live the life of your dreams.

As a gift to you and to support you in this quest, I want you to have instant access to a downloadable meme that I created for you that you can post on your mirror, place in your car or on your desk, or anywhere that it can serve as a reminder to you of what you are transforming and affirming in your life. [Click on link above and then on a PC right mouse click on image and choose save as.]

I invite you to remember as you affirm that:

You are the most important person you will talk with today.”
      – Zig Ziegler

What you think especially about yourself is important. Using affirmations to help you be the person you want to be and want to become is a reminder that you are the director and creative force in your life.

Affirmations are a tool to help focus and direct your attention into specific areas where you have determined you could use a little help and support in your process of growing and becoming. They are simple to use and easy to do and they put immense power at your disposal to be all that you are meant to be and all that you want to be.

You might find it helpful to keep the affirmations you have chosen to focus upon in a journal. This way you can find a quick reference to the affirmations you are currently working on, and have a way that you can look back upon the ways you have been successful in transforming your life.

Ways To Relieve Stress

Ways to Relieve Stress

No Matter Where You Are or What You Are Doing

Ways To Relieve Stress blog post by Genevieve Gerard

Today you are going to learn quick and easy ways to relieve stress.

First, know that your body gives you tools you can use to overcome stress.

Second, your mind can be used to modify stress.

Third and most important, you don’t have to let stress become distressful. Stress is a normal part of living.

Stress is one of the places you can most see the mind-body relationship active. Because of that you can learn to both control and gain mastery over stress. To conquer your stress, it helps to understand how your mind and your body can best work together.

When thinking about stress you can see that stress has always been a part of life. From the earliest evolution of life, stress has been a reality of life. The stress that is created by the needs of human life for survival has existed since the dawn of time. The fulfillment of those needs fuels most of the stress today.

Educational Psychologist Abraham Maslow created a hierarchy of human needs that explains this relationship brilliantly.

Maslow Hierarchy of Needs leads to reduced stress
Maslow Hierarchy of Needs

The most basic of human needs are food, water, sleep and breathing. Fulfilling those needs for yourself and your family remain the primary causes of stress. Likewise the need for safety and shelter from the elements is a universal need. The failure to manifest those needs threatens survival and can cause stress.

Yet, once those steps of food and water, safety and shelter have been satisfied you can move onto needs over which you have more control. Those first two steps on the pyramid as identified by Maslow are so basically physiological that unless they are achieved they remain the primary needs.

However, even within these very basic needs are decisions and choices that can certainly affect how much you stress. In truth, it is the way you choose to fulfill those needs that create lots of stress. Therefore, discriminating between need and want becomes an important aspect of learning to manage your stress.

I do not wish to be naive or cavalier in considering this factor. Indeed, as the old folk saying reveals, “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.”

So much stress is created by the failure to determine whether something is a need or want.
       – Genevieve Gerard

Ponder on this statement.

Being proactive in your choices about the commitments you make is an important way to limit your stress, however; although that is about avoiding future stress. It is more important to find ways to relieve the stress that is challenging you today.

10 Ways To Relieve Stress

Here are some quick ways you can learn to use your mind-body relationship to release stress and be more relaxed and centered, that you can do anytime and anywhere when you start to feel stressed.

1. Learn From Your Lessons. Whatever choices you have made, mistakes or errors of judgment, evaluate them and then let them go. They are as of this moment, now in the past. Let them be in the past. You now have new decisions and choices that require your attention.

2. Let Go of The Past by taking a deep lung expanding bottomless breath as you exhale. This works as a subtle physiological factor that uses the important mind-body relationship to release and relieve your stress.

3. Forgive Yourself and open yourself to receive what the unlimited potential of life is bringing to you.

4. Forgive Anyone Else from whom you are estranged.

5. Say A Positive Affirmation with your whole heart, mind, and Soul. (You may wish to have some favorite pre-chosen for just this purpose.)

6. Consider Your Perspective, is there a shift you need to consider that will shift what you are thinking or feeling.

7. Ask yourself “Are My Expectations Realistic.” You are not perfect and you do not need to be perfect.

8. Monitor Your Thoughts, reframe, and re-write any “Stinking Thinking.” There is a positive side and a negative, side so it is up to you to decide.

9. Look Around You and find something for which you are grateful. Then express that gratitude deep into your heart and mind.

10. Free Your Emotions to find your centered calm. Let go of your hurts and your anger to let yourself clear away any negativity. Open yourself to what life is opening up before you that has never been before.

BE All of You

BE All of You

Be and Become All That You Can Be

To come into your full power as an individual and to achieve success and experience real happiness takes becoming aware of and activating in your life all of who you are.

As a human being, you are a complex and multi-dimensional being who functions on different levels simultaneously. Increasing your awareness and potential within those different parts of yourself can empower you to achieve great things.

The more conscious and integrated you become of the fullness of who and what you are as a human being, the more you can harness your abilities and focus them on fulfilling your purpose and your destiny.

What it means to be a human being may seem to be self-evident, but within each of us are untapped powers and potential that can become manifest when we utilize them with consciousness and awareness.

To activate your full power and potential it is advantageous to understand the ways that the different aspects of your human nature can work together for greater health, happiness and success.

To do this let us explore our multi-level nature. Each of us is composed of a physical body. It has very specific very physical requirements and needs. Among the most basic of these needs are water, food, and shelter from exposure to the elements. A body not provided with these very basic needs will not survive long. This is self-evident yet important to understand because the quest for survival and the fulfillment of these basic needs motivates a great deal of human behavior.

However, a human being is more than just a body and both, its needs and its talents are more diverse. In addition to our physical body and our survival needs, we have emotions, a mind, a personality (a merger of our body, emotions, and thoughts) and a Soul (our Divine Spark that makes us more than an animal.) As human beings, we are a most amazing being.

We, in this miraculous merger of the physical body, emotional body, personality, and Soul are stronger than we imagine. To harness the full scope and power of our full potential is what man is evolving to become. Humanity in its present form only has been on earth a relatively short span of time when we look at the history of humankind.

I was listening to a few T.E.D. (Technology, Entertainment & Design) programs published on N.P.R. recently that made this point quiet well. Humanity emerged from the cradle of civilization to occupy the planet a short span of time ago in evolutionary terms. Yet science is looking to a newly evolved type of human being emerging.

As I listened to these two programs, I began to wonder at the deeper meaning of this and consider what all of this means to you and me as we strive to live happier more fruitful and empowered lives.

I began to consider what this all means in relation to principles and concepts I have previously written about in the concept that “energy follows thought,” and a concept I have mentioned previously that we as human beings were created to work in cooperation with the Divine as co-creators of our world. It seems these rather “woo, woo” concepts have a basis in new scientific discoveries. The concepts of what is known as The Ancient Wisdom about how thought can influence material reality are being revealed in the newly explored field of Noetic physics.

I realized that discovering and manifesting the power of thought in the creative expression of your life are important keys that need further exploration and demonstration. Thankfully, you don’t have to be a scientist to explore and demonstrate these powerful principles. You have your whole life as a living laboratory.

You could simply use the powerful tool of affirmation and observe how your life changes. Alternatively, you could watch your thoughts and gain mastery over them in a way that transforms your daily events and experiences. On the other hand, you can practice and refine the tools that will change your life as you hone the discipline of your mind.

It is, in my opinion with the power of your mind and with the focus of intention that you will be able to experience and manifest the next step in evolution. It is in this exciting integration of your Higher Self as a co-creator with the Divine that humankind will evolve.

When you use the power of your mind to empower and transform the events and circumstances of your life, you are joining a movement to bring this new kind of human being into manifestation. When you share your success and wisdom with others, you are actively demonstrating the promise and potential of what being human can be. You become a guide for others on the path to becoming.

This is an exciting time in the evolution of consciousness. This adventure into the awareness of what it truly means to be a spark of Divine Light on planet earth is thrilling. It is an amazing time in which to be alive, grow and thrive.
      – Genevieve Gerard

As a resource, I have listed a number of posts that include techniques to create awareness, in the related links at the end of this blog post. There are also other articles and blogs that you can search out on this website. One will undoubtedly work better for you than another. Sometimes a simple shift in how something is said clarifies a concept or grants a new perception.

Most important in any experimentation or exploration that you do is to incorporate your Higher Self and your intuition into the process. In this way, you can use your whole being and your whole self to empower your life experiment as you change your life.

A Brief Technique to Empower You

Sit quietly and receptively. I encourage you to “Calm Your Mind, Open Your Heart, Invite the Light.

Imagine a beam of Light descending from your Higher Self into the top of your head filling your mind with insight and understanding.

Invite from your Soul (Higher Self) the intuition of a clear vision of what you can do better to bring into manifestation the opportunities you desire to achieve the goals you have identified in your life.

Stay with this for about 10 minutes and record your thoughts, your impressions, and direction in a journal you keep for this purpose.

Then go about your day keeping your thoughts positively focused.

If you think you can do a thing or think you can’t do a thing,
you’re right.
      – Henry Ford

Remember that today is the first day of the rest of your life. Celebrate it and enjoy it.

Namaste,

Genevieve

The Last Step in Forgiveness

The Last Step in Forgiveness

Open Yourself To Forgiveness - by Genevieve Gerard

This morning in my meditation as I was considering the concept of forgiveness I was granted a new understanding of how forgiveness works. Something I realized is the last step in forgiveness.

Forgiveness has long been a pondering point in my meditations. It is a subject on which I have often written. It is a spiritual work that my life experiences required for me to become free of assaults and indignities that I suffered in my childhood, and sorrows and betrayals in my adult life.

Therefore, to have a new revelation about how the subtle and energetic workings of forgiveness impact life is very exciting for me.

To understand the mechanics of forgiveness in this new light expands the power of what is already one of the most powerful tools of transformation. Forgiveness is a liberation that frees pain and sorrow and allows it to heal. It unravels the chains of anger so that you no longer have to carry the past around and trip over it.

I shall try to share this new understanding with you because I know it is important. The way that this disclosure that I am calling the last step in forgiveness released the energy around a wrong committed by another released a whole new layer of forgiveness that I had never seen before. If you have read any of my previous writings on forgiveness, you know that I teach that the best reason to forgive another is to free yourself from the burden of the past. This then opens you to the unlimited possibilities of an unformed and now unfettered future that is just coming into manifestation.

As such, I have advised you to forgive another, not so much for them, but for you, for it is your life that is freed from the past, and it is your burden of anger and betrayal that is laid down. All of this is imparted in my prior writings and can be explored in detail in the links to related posts at the conclusion of this blog.

Let me start by saying that Forgiveness is profound spiritual work, it, however, is also one of the most life-transforming tools you can use for your personal growth and development.

When we have opened ourselves to give forgiveness or to accept forgiveness we have opened ourselves to touch the Divine.”
        – Genevieve Gerard

Today’s revelation and understanding go beyond anything I have ever written about the importance of forgiveness. It is not only something I have never talked about before, but it is also a new understanding of the dynamics and workings of forgiveness on an energetic level that makes the act of forgiveness much more powerful than I have ever realized before.

It works on an alchemical energetic level. It works with the powerful principle that energy follows thought and it relies on the truths expounded in the teachings in the field of Neuro-Linguistics. It requires a new layer in the process of forgiveness that has the power to transform the one you are forgiving.

It speaks to an age-old question about forgiving that has always been intertwined with the concept of forgetting. Yes, it has long been argued I can forgive, but I cannot forget what the other has done. In addition, since what has been done in the past cannot be changed, that has had to do.

We all know that it can be a challenge to forgive, so to forget throws it over the top. It is just too much to consider for most people. What we are forgiving in another are usually the most painful things they have done. Just to forgive something seems to be enough.

Indeed, on many levels it is too much for most people. Nevertheless, the insight that I received this morning in my meditation and indeed the whole purpose of this article is to take forgiveness to a entirely different higher level. A level that can bring about real and lasting change in the life of both the one who is forgiving and the one who needs to be forgiven.

Thoughts, as I have often written have great power. It is a universal principle that energy follows thought. Thoughts, in fact mold the world around us in creating our experiences and our reality. They influence the very fabric of matter itself in the world around us. This is part of the new knowledge that began when the world of physics discovered in recent times the workings of subtle energies that are being explored by the newer field of Noetic Studies. The secrets becoming known are beginning to confirm what have long been the teachings of the occult and have been passed down throughout time as the Ageless Wisdom.

This ageless truth is also the basis for the teachings of many past and present thought leaders and motivational speakers. It is to them that I reach today for the words of how to explain this new layer of forgiveness, this new revelation about how forgiveness works.

My Insight on How To Forgive

We all hold in our mind thought forms about one another, just as we hold thought forms or beliefs about ourselves. These thought forms, these beliefs that we hold onto about ourselves often are a focus of our personal work and often must be removed consciously when it is realized that they are “limiting beliefs.” As any practitioner of N.L.P. can tell you and most counselors, life coaches and therapists would confirm, releasing a limiting belief about yourself or making a conscious decision to revise that belief to bring about a desired change when you can affirm “that was true of me then, but now I am …” is a life changing transformational tool.

What I realized to be true that relates to forgiveness is that these beliefs, these limiting beliefs we have of one another create a reality manifested by our thought forms, expectations and the power of the energy we give to it. To release the negative and/or limited thought form you hold in your mind about the other person gives the act of forgiveness the life transforming power of empowering them to change. Ponder on this.

If we can, when we forgive another, also release the thought forms we have created in our minds about them, there is an energetic discharge that frees the person you are forgiving and empowers them to go on in their life and become the person they are striving to become.

To forgive, without this dynamic extra step in the forgiveness process, dare I say the last step in forgiveness, adds to both the probability and possibility that they will again live up to our expectations (and energetic thought forms) and continue to do exactly what they have always done before that needed forgiveness.

Certainly, the best predictor of future behavior has been past behavior. That very expectation, that limiting belief held by both you and the one you are forgiving creates a huge obstacle to their change. Likewise, when you forgive down to the level of shattering the limiting belief you are holding in your mind about the one you are forgiving, you open the door to real and lasting change for them to take full advantage (and responsibility) of the possibilities and potential of the unwritten emerging future with a real freedom that simple forgiveness without this step does not grant.

So, when you forgive, although you may never forget what was done, if you can within your own mind, with the love of your heart, release the limiting belief you have held of them and hold the image in your mind of how they can be and who they can be, freed from the hurtful and painful behavior they have exhibited in the past, you are by your forgiveness, setting them free.

They can release all of the failures and foibles so that they can be, all that your love desires them to be and all that they desire to be for themselves. Then your act of forgiveness has the power and potential to expand into an act of transformation that will make you, and the one you are forgiving and who has needed forgiveness, much happier.

As I was pondering this, I saw the image of the person I was forgiving shatter into millions of shards that exploded and released an amazing rush of energy.

Releasing a Limiting Belief

To release a limiting belief, whether about yourself or another, requires being aware of your mind chatter and what you are thinking. Then you need to change the thought “change your mind” and thereby “change your life.” This is done by editing your negative or limiting thoughts and replacing them with positive, transformational or healing thoughts.

As soon as you catch your thought defining someone (including yourself) with an “am” or “is” statement such as “I am . . .”, “He or she is . . .”, immediately revise the negative or limiting thought with a reframed new positive, limitless thought, now free of the negative limiting belief.

This takes vigilance and consistency. Energy follows thought, that is both the rule and the underlying principle but conflicting thoughts undermine the efficiency of the desired change especially when it requires changing ingrained patterns of behavior. Ponder on this rule.

Know that, with this process transformation and change do occur. It begins with the alteration of a single thought, which works its way energetically into manifested substance, until one day you notice that the limiting thought or belief is no longer in your thoughts. Interestingly, it is often only vaguely in your memory and at that point, you truly know that you have exercised your role as co-creator of your life.

I encourage you to experience this last step in forgiveness, releasing the negative thought forms you have held in your mind about the other and watch how their lives may transform.

Know that this new aspect of forgiveness can bring about real healing in relationships when forgiveness is being asked and being granted.

Remember the past is finished. It has no power over you or over them when with your forgiveness you also free them from your thoughts that have held them in that past. The future is now revealed, as the unfettered and unlimited possibility, to evolve as the fulfillment of all of your dreams.

Namaste,

Genevieve

Perfection Brings Imperfection To The Surface

Perfection Brings Imperfection to the Surface

Perfection Brings Imperfection To The Surface - Genevieve Gerard Serenity Sunday Article

In the world of consciousness, among those who have been long upon the path, there is a phrase that it is very important to understand when you embark upon the journey of transformation.

The phrase is “perfection brings imperfection to the surface.”

This is often a very frustrating and disheartening part of the process of growth and change because just when you have started to have greater understanding and insight you are faced with the parts of yourself that are the antithesis to what you are striving to bring into your life.

Your personality now faced with the increase in light that is coming from your soul, often begins to act out like a long undisciplined child who is now required to behave. Faults, long buried or kept quiescent are now visible in the light and stand revealed, warts and all. How you deal with the imperfections that have become known is an important transition in your transformational adventure.

When you strive to be happier and more successful, there is a tendency to be highly critical of yourself. This is particularly true when you begin to be successful in transcending your fears and gaining control of your life. After having ridden a wildly out of control bucking bronco of life, when you finally get the reins in your hands there is a tendency to be self-critical. I caution you that this is just a less damaging version of the negative self- talk that you have just conquered.

Often, the tendency is to rebury the “negative” trait, denying and ignoring the truth that it shows. However, it is in these revelations of your shadow self that the real work of growth and transformation takes place. It is in dealing with these less attractive and less desirable parts of yourself that you have the opportunity for making a powerful difference in your life.

Make failure your teacher, not your undertaker - Zig Ziglar

It is in the process of revelation and resolution that you require compassion, and forgiveness in a context of complete profound honesty with yourself. To look at your shadow self and then light the candle of awareness to illumine all of the glaring ugliness of your faults, gives you the perspective of deep self-compassion and self-forgiveness. While this may be painful for you, it also will be profoundly healing and astonishingly powerful.

This interweaving of who you are becoming with forgiveness and compassion for the mistakes and failures you have experienced through your life is a balancing act. It is important to be gentle with yourself.

Whereas insight can be easy, it is a basic truth in life that change can be hard. To change your way of thinking requires both vigilance and attention. Understanding this principle that perfection brings imperfection to the surface can reassure you that you are changing and growing.

It is in this process that the freedom of being in the now is most needed and most appreciated. This weakness of the self that is revealed can be released in the present time and relegated to history, allowing a new opportunity for the future to emerge. You can see your faults and make the choice to put them aside, as a child puts aside a toy it has outgrown. In addition, although there may be parts that are habitual, awareness helps you break the habit.

Once the imperfection has been brought to the surface, accessed honestly, and evaluated in the emerging understanding of growing awareness, the draw and perceived benefit of the fault is diminished. Once the consciousness has made this shift, the “fault” never again has the same lure because your perspective has changed and the excuses for the negative behavior are no longer valid and sustaining.

It is in imperfection that we discover what is perfect for us.
     – Unknown

It is a subtle shift that you may not even notice for awhile, but one day you think back and realize that a particular fault has faded into the barely remembered past, and why you had ever behaved that way is vague and unclear to you. This is the healing benefit of seizing the opportunity of self-examination and release when perfection brings imperfection to the surface.

You can observe a behavior, thought form, or limiting belief you have held, but after you have let the light and awareness of your Higher Self consider it and consciously decide to reject it, then you can become free to be different, to be who you know and desire yourself to be.

Each and every time you act congruently with the way you are now choosing to be; each time you catch yourself in old thought form patterns, each time you let the imperfections come to the surface and then conquer them, you are reinforcing and manifesting the change you desire.

Change, growth and evolution are an ongoing process of giving up as you take up. Each time you catch yourself in old negative thought patterns, stop it and then change them. You win. These little victories are ways to achieve the peace of mind, the success and the release from fear that were out of reach when you began to grab the reins of your thoughts and decided to stop letting your fears, insecurities or limitations control your life.

The more you grow, the more you know.

To transform your life into the life of your dreams is a choice only you can make. It is your life to spend as you wish.

Three Things to Ponder on Today to Make A Difference

  1. Realize that your thoughts are a power you can use to create the life of your dreams.
  2. Consciously be aware of the content of your thoughts (about yourself and your life.)
  3. With clarity and intention, affirm what you belief to be true about yourself and your life.

Follow these steps and you will begin the energy of change and transformation. Add to them an underlying expression of desire and intention and give your creative mind the attention of focus and affirmation and you will be on your way.

Remember, this is a new way of thinking and a new way of being. If you find yourself falling back into old patterns of self-recrimination and negative thinking be gentle with yourself. Consider objectively what is coming to clarity.

Often negative self-talk is the “voice” of someone in your past. Evaluate and consider what comes to light in your process of becoming who you want to be. Let the Light of your Higher Self bring your mistakes and failures into clarity so that you can put them behind you. The Past cannot be changed. Let it go and be free of it. The present is offering you gifts that have never been available before. Open yourself fully to receive them. The future is before you as an exciting adventure that is unfolding right here and right now.

Remember, you are not limited by what has ever been before. Let the future stand revealed. You now have the opportunity to clear away any of the imperfections that your invitation to your Higher Self may have revealed so that you can embrace the unlimited possibility and dynamic potential of being, who you want to be, and all that you are meant to be.

Namaste,

Genevieve

Ways To Change Your Life

Ways to Change Your Life

and Experience Transformation

Read "Ways to Change Your Life" blog post by Genevieve Gerard

Many tools are available to change your life and increase your joy.

By your conscious decisions with your awareness and intention, you can have a dramatic impact on the joy you experience in your life.

Today I give you my list of actions you can take on your own to change and transform your life and have better relationships, greater joy and happiness.

1.   Love Someone Unconditionally

The greatest gift that you can give to others is the gift of unconditional love and acceptance. – Brian Tracy

When you transcend your own needs sufficiently to love someone without expectations or conditions you are opening your heart to a bond that can comfort and sustain you all the days of your life. To truly honor, cherish and treasure another without criticism or judgment is a way of loving that supports the good and the growth of the beloved. This is a powerful gift that is a transformative touch of the Divine.

2.   Forgive Yourself

Forgive yourself for your faults and your mistakes and move on.
– Les Brown

When you forgive yourself you are freeing yourself from the pain and bondage of the past, and are opening your life to the unlimited possibilities that all you have ever desired can manifest for you. You no longer need to bear the shame of past mistakes. You are now free to live your life in a way that is new and different from what has been to express your full power.

3.   Forgive Someone

When you forgive, you in no way change the past – but you sure do change the future. – Bernard Meltzer

When you forgive another, even of what may seem unforgivable you are creating a grace that frees you from past hurts as you enter into the NOW, no longer bound by what used to be. You are, by your forgiveness releasing both you and the other from the limitations of the past. Forgiveness changes everything. When you forgive you are enfolded in joyful grace and compassion. The one you have forgiven is now freed to become what they are meant to be.

4.   Express Gratitude

Develop an attitude of gratitude, and give thanks for everything that happens to you, knowing that every step forward is a step toward achieving something bigger and better than your current situation.
– Brian Tracy

Your expression of gratitude and appreciation opens a portal for abundance and blessing to flow freely to you from Source. It magnetically draws to you what you need to receive more of what you desire and what you need to manifest your Higher Purpose in Life.

5.   Align with Your Higher Self

When you connect with your Soul, also known as your Higher Self, you become aware of a part of yourself that is so glorious and magnificent that experience is often transformational and profound.
– Genevieve Gerard

By consciously aligning with and inviting your Soul presence into your life you are opening your mind to the wisdom and insight of your Higher Self. When you call upon Your Soul to guide you and listen in the silence to its promptings and guidance you are opening your life to living in a co-creator relationship with God.

6.   Practice Harmlessness

Make a habit of two things: to help; or at least to do no harm.
– Hippocrates

As you move through the events and circumstances of your life this week consider your words before you speak and the potential impact they may have on others in light of the principle of Harmlessness. Thinking of the impact of your words and actions on others transforms your relationship into stronger, healthier and more mutually supportive and loving bonds.

7.   Give Generously of the Gifts You Have Received

True generosity is an offering; given freely and out of pure love. No strings attached. No expectations. Time and love are the most valuable possession you can share. – Suze Orman

When you give to others freely and without fear, you open a portal of abundance and blessing into your life. An important part of abundance is the multiplication factor of giving and sharing. Each time you freely share and freely give you are demonstrating your faith in the future and reinforcing the powerful thought form that you have enough and you are enough for whatever the future brings.

8.   Surrender Your Personal Will to Divine Will

Whatever I will become will be what God has chosen for me.
– Elvis Presley

When you surrender your personal Will to Divine Will your life is guided by a sense of purpose and joy that is sustained. By this mighty marriage of doing all that you can do with the alignment of your physical acts of doing, with action, your emotions freed from fear and your mind with clear intention, surrendering an affirming that God’s Will and God’s wisdom are greater than what we can see and know from our human perspective you are imbuing and empowering your life with a Higher Purpose as revealed from your Source of Higher Power.

9.   Release Your Fears

Fear keeps us focused on the past or worried about the future. If we can acknowledge our fear, we can realize that right now we are okay. Right now, today, we are still alive, and our bodies are working marvelously. Our eyes can still see the beautiful sky. Our ears can still hear the voices of our loved ones. – Thich Nhat Hanh

When you release your fears, you take your place as a co-creator with Source in your life manifesting what you need spontaneously. Your mind is the most powerful creative force on earth. When you release your fears, you stop creating what you don’t want and you are empowered to create the life you are meant to live. Each time you release a fear and replace the negative thought with a positive thought from your mind, and align with your Soul and life purpose, you are gaining power to manifest the success an abundance that you envision and desire.

10.   Love Yourself

I have an everyday religion that works for me. Love yourself first, and everything else falls into line. – Lucille Ball

When you love yourself, you are affirming the truth that you are a beloved child of God and will be nurtured and provided for with love. When you accept and love yourself, you are aligning to empower your life with the guidance and wisdom of yourself to help you be and become all that you are meant to be.

When you bring your body, your heart and your mind into unity and relationship with your Soul, the universe expands to incorporate a vision that is timelessly and endlessly sustained by love.

By opening yourself to the love of your Soul you realize a state of oneness and unity that transcends the material world so that you may fly on the wings endless bliss, peace and joy beyond time or space.

When you are aligned with the power and the purpose of your Soul, magic, and miracles manifest. You are able to use the fullness of your being in the joyous expression of your human adventure as a Divine child of God here on earth.

If you open your heart and your mind and your Soul to each of these thoughts and intentions each morning of the day as a part of your spiritual practice, you are tuning up your life to use the gifts you have received to have a happier and more fulfilling life.

By focusing on your intention to manifest these qualities in your life this week, you will find more joy, more peace, and more prosperity in your life by this time next week.

I wish you the best as you open up to ways to change your life and experience transformation.

Namaste,

Genevieve

Gratitude Works Magic

Gratitude Works Magic

Read Gratitude Works Magic blog post by Genevieve Gerard

The way of life has little secrets in it that once revealed and practiced have great power to influence and affect your life.

Gratitude is one of those secrets that influences your life.

Amazingly, gratitude is one of the most powerful portals to a life of joy.

To practice gratitude and to incorporate it into your daily habits will transform your life.

This is true on multiple levels. From our youngest days, we were all taught the importance of saying words like “thank you” and “please.” In fact, I remember a children’s rhyme from my own childhood that said: “these are the keys that will open any door with ease, thank you so much and if you please.”

However, since these simple phrases often can be layered with demand, criticism and judgments it is easy to avoid saying them to one another. Worse than that, you may end up saying the words without really meaning them, which from an energetic perspective could be worse than not saying them at all.

To begrudgingly express gratitude, not from a sense of real appreciation but because of a demand or simply because it is “manners” or expected from you, dissipates the impact that gratitude has.

Gratitude and appreciation are the handmaidens of “The Law of Attraction.” When dealing with Universal Laws, like the “Law of Attraction” or the universal principle that “energy follows thought” you are inside of the very matrix of creation. Their insincere words expressed without the heartfelt spirit with which the words are usually infused are automatically ignored and therefore lack the power and energy to have an impact.

Therefore, to unlock the magical power and profound impact that gratitude can have in your life I caution you to make sure that your expressions of thanks are sincere and heartfelt. We have all received a perfunctory or polite “thank you.” You have probably ignored them or didn’t even fully register them. They can turn into a meaningless social communication with one another.

When I say that gratitude works magic I am not talking about the results of automated heartless responses. For the magic of the Law of Attraction to be truly released, the expression of gratitude and feeling of appreciation must be real. When you genuinely feel grateful, it is accompanied by your heart feeling full and love energy is ignited in a transpersonal and unconditional way.

If you pay attention to the feeling that you have in your heart (chakra) area when you are feeling genuine gratitude and appreciation for someone or something you will know what I mean. It is that energetic spark that ignites the magnetic impulse of the Law of Attraction that brings into your life greater abundance of exactly what you are appreciating and enjoying. This is the secret power that unlocks the deep magic of gratitude.

When you send out a magnetic impulse, to bring into your life more of what you have truly appreciated, you invoke an energetic response that is a manifestation of your co-creator role of your life with the Divine. It is through this mystical mechanism that thought leaders and spiritual teachers have said that you are responsible for what you attract. Ponder on this.

Just as thoughts, send out vibrations to which there is a creative and attractive power, gratitude stimulates the field of etheric energy that surrounds you on a subtle level to bring into your life more of what brings you joy.
            – Genevieve Gerard

These universal principles, such as the law of attraction, energy follows thought and countless others, are the subtle dynamics that impact energy in the alchemy of our role as co-creator whether you choose to use them or not. The laws of the universe, although they can be used to work for you, continue to work even if you never attempt to utilize them to have a better life.

Much like the Sun shines the same on the rich and the poor, these creative principles, such as the law of attraction, energy follows thought, and the law of repulse affect the laws of physics. Their true nature is just beginning to reveal itself with the study of noetic science. This has been changing the understanding of the world since the revelation of quarks and other unseen factors of energy that are just coming into our conscious awareness. Interesting enough, this new science is proving many of the truths long held by the esoteric teachings of the Ageless Wisdom.

As more and more understanding of this subtle world reveals how thoughts, gratitude and fear and worry impact the world of our experience and manifestation there becomes an increase in the understanding of how much you can impact your life experience by using these subtle laws to create the experiences you desire. Likewise, you can see your responsibility in creating what you experience.

Principles such as energy follows thought and the response to expressions of gratitude are some of the easiest ways to demonstrate the truth of these universal laws and principles because they react so quickly to manifesting. Almost everyone who has begun to practice gratitude and appreciation in their life can tell you a story of how their life has become more joyful, happier and they have ever-increasing reasons for which to express gratitude. This is why I call gratitude, magic.

For some reason gratitude has an accelerated noticeable response time, perhaps because it is much easier to express gratitude, than to stop negative thoughts, fears or worries, although the subtle principles of energy field theory are exactly the same. The key is learning to manage your thoughts to what is positive and what you desire and not what you fear or worry about.

A technique that can powerfully transform your life to align with these subtle laws and principles is to increase your awareness of the content of your thoughts and then, once observed, take an active creator role with them, focusing on what you are enjoying and appreciating. Then, immediately express with that deep sensing of gratitude your delight.

What you are appreciating will range from simple to complex. The response of the increased joy is significant. All around you, everywhere you go today, there are opportunities to practice appreciation and gratitude. These sensations will be so strong that they can dispel fear or worry and bring you into greater alignment with your Higher Self and your Higher Power.

Therefore, I invite you to practice the magic of gratitude. I know your life will respond. Enjoy.

Namaste,

Genevieve

Healthy Hugs

Healthy Hugs

Please read A Heathy Hug, blog post by Genevieve Gerard

I recently read an article about the health benefits of hugs that is directly related to both the healing advantages that came from hugging and how we hug one another.

The real health advantages in a hug occur when it lasts at least 20 seconds. The average hug, the author lamented lasts only 3 seconds.

As I began this blog and looked for pictures it was interesting to see how many of the hugs that were available on the photo site I use, were given sideways. The energetic blending of life force that to me represents a healthy hug is heart-to-heart.

Twenty-second hugs help depression and anxiety

In a heart-to-heart hug, you both give and receive concurrently. That is part of the magic that unleashes the physiological and psychological benefits of a hug. Oxytocin begins to be released after 20 seconds in a hug. Oxytocin is nature’s antidepressant and anti-anxiety neurotransmitter. In that way a “healthy hug” is healing.

The information that hugs result in better health and wellbeing is not new. Over 40 years ago, when I worked as a counselor in a community mental health center in Los Angeles, there was research published that proposed that for optimum mental and physical health an individual needed to receive 7 hugs a day.

Of course as mental health professionals, we were all into optimum mental and physical health. Among the staff, a tradition began that changed the work environment in a way that made it less stressful to be in a very intense and stressful work environment. The staff began to hug one another in the interest of health and wellbeing. Since you cannot really give a hug without receiving one the atmosphere of the workplace began to transform into an environment that was much happier and supportive.

Teams became much more effective. Networking and interdepartmental collaboration improved. Patients and clients who were by professional ethics not eligible for hugs seemed calmer and I know in my program migrated back out of the hospital and into society much more rapidly. The measures for success improved.

If I was a researcher, which I am not by nature or inclination, this would have been a wonderful opportunity to understand the healing power of hugging. My observations remain anecdotal and completely subjective. Of course, as others and I migrated into other work environments I realized how rare and special work environments like that little community mental health facility long ago were.

Actually, I had not thought about that experience in years until I read the article about hugs achieving their optimum effectiveness at 20 seconds and realized that even in non-intimate situations where hugging is considered socially appropriate average hugs are so brief.

This realization made me evaluate the nature and duration of the hugs I give to close friends and family members and resolve to relax into a hug and sustain it beyond that brief socially acceptable 3 second parameter and I have found that the researcher was right. A hug of at least 20 seconds is more relaxing.

Stress and tension I had been unaware that I was holding is released in the longer hug. Breathing is deeper and in just a few days of my own brief experiment with healthy hugging, I seemed able to return to my work tasks more creative and focused. In a longer hug, you seem to share breath and the life energy or Prana.

Now, to make a healthy hug also a healing hug add the power of your intention and the principle that “energy follows thought.”

As you are hugging heart-to-heart imagine the person you are hugging being infused with love, from your heart to theirs, and see them being strengthened and supported in what is right and good for them. In this way, your hug becomes a healing force in their life.
            – Genevieve Gerard

This you can do without any personal needs or expectations. This hug is a gift you can give freely. This is a gift that by giving you receive. Your gratitude as always enhances the experience.

Since you have to feel comfortable with both the person you are hugging and the concept of giving and receiving a hug it is perhaps the mutuality required in the act of hugging that enhances the power and effectiveness of a hug.

Consider this simple way to reduce stress and enhance everyone’s wellbeing.

When you hug, linger a bit longer and make it a healthy hug.

So as a way to reduce stress, increase joy, and in general, live both a happier and more healthy life I encourage you to hug one another. Relax into the hug and let your hearts blend, and enjoy!

Namaste,

   Genevieve

Be The Director Of Your Life

Be the Director of Your Life

Read "Be The Director of Your Life" blog post by Genevieve Gerard

The nature of thought is that it directs what is created in your life.

This is the subtle principle behind the Law of Attraction and the teaching that “energy follows thought.” This is why thought leaders of diverse backgrounds tell you that to change your life you need only change your mind.

In this simple statement of truth about the nature of reality and the nature of life is a powerful tool that you can use to create the life of your dreams.

Universal laws, such as the “Law of Attraction” and the principle that energy follows thought reveal how the world works. And, it works that way whether you believe it or not, whether you choose to use this information or not. The workings of these forces can be something you bring to your conscious awareness or ignore. Whatever you do, whatever you choose does not change the law. It works and operates with or without you consciously doing anything at all.

Whether you say you can or you can’t, you’re right.
       – Walt Disney

Your mind and your thoughts are always sending out messages that affect the creation of what you experience. That may be a painful thought for you to get your head around because most certainly in your life you experience both situations that you want and enjoy, and circumstances that you do not want.

As you read these words you might find yourself arguing with what I have just stated as you think about some particularly unpleasant situation and contend, “well I certainly didn’t want this or that.” However, whether you were conscious of your thoughts or not, this is how the world works. It is not personal, but it is real.

In fact, it is the very impersonal nature of these laws that contain both the blessing and the curse of this fact. The idea that you had anything to do with or were involved with creating the experiences in your life of sorrow, pain, suffering or failure can be a frustrating and frightening thought. However, if you stop to think about it, it can also be very empowering because then you realize that to change your life you need only change your mind.

It sounds simple, but if you examine the content of your thoughts, you realize it may not be easy. In fact, the technique I will be presenting to you today is all about examining the content of your thoughts. It is by using the technique that you can become the director of your life and leave behind the role of actor and reactor to a life that happens to you unconsciously.

You are already the co-creator of your life. That is part of what came with the spark of Divine Light that animated humanity from the dawn of creation. It is what it means when they say; you are a child of God. And deep principles such as free will make that something you can choose to use, or you can choose to ignore. Your choice doesn’t impact the nature of personal reality, but it does affect the life you live.

It is our choices that show what we truly are,
far more than our abilities.
       – J.K. Rowling

That said it is important that you consider the nature of the thoughts that you are sending out to create your life, your personal reality. It is to help you consciously bring to your awareness what you are thinking, that I created this exercise.

The First Step – Observe your Thoughts

It is the nature of thought that it is quicksilver-fast and has within it many layers embedded with emotions. Herein lays the challenge. What you are broadcasting from your mind is all too often, what you don’t want to happen. If what you are sending out with your co-creator power, consciously or unconsciously are your fears and worries then you will most likely create more of the same.

In a recent blog called “Why Let Worry Waste Your Time,” I make the point that worrying is like praying for what you don’t want. When your thoughts are sending out your fears or worries, the universe usually responds by providing situations where those thoughts will be manifested.

Therefore, if you choose to be the director of your life and harness the incredible power of your mind this first step of observing what you are thinking is essential. It has long been the goal and purpose of meditation through diverse methods and techniques to help the meditator gain mastery over what is often called “the monkey mind.”

The exercise I offer you today is a technique I have taught for years to help people gain mastery in their life so they can be the director of their life and manifest the positive power as a co-creator.

I Am the Director Exercise:

Spend Just Three Minutes a Day to Change Your Life

and Observe Your Thoughts as the Detached Observer

I recommend that you pledge to yourself that you will do this for
3 minutes each day.

To be the detached observer requires that you consciously drop all judgment and criticism of yourself as you observe your thoughts. It is helpful when you start the clock on your observation of your thoughts that you consciously connect with your Higher Self and you open your heart and your mind to the promptings of your Soul.

This makes your observation a meditative experience and automatically adds more power to the experience.

Sit quietly with your spine aligned as you:

Calm your mind, Open Your Heart, Invite the Light.

Then just listen in the quiet to what you are thinking. It is important that as you do this, you suspend judgment and self-criticism or those may become your thoughts.

Then, as soon as you recognize a worry thought, a fear thought or a limiting belief, take the conscious role of director in your life and edit it, correct it, stop it and reframe it with the thought of what you want or desire.

As the director command “Cut,” and rewrite the script (thought) reframe it and affirm the thought that is now in keeping with what you want to create. Then you can use an affirmation to help you to bring the new thought into greater clarity and focus. Then you can take action to bring what you have chosen into full manifestation.

Continue this process on to the next thought until you observe another thought that contains worry, fear or a limiting belief. Do these processes repeatedly as many times as you can in the 3 minutes you have set aside.

If you are like most people I have taught this technique too, you will be astonished at how much of your unedited, and uncorrected thoughts are fearful and if allowed to go unchecked would result in what you do not want to happen.

Although you can continue this exercise as long as you wish, I have found that 3 minutes is a significant amount of time to discipline and harness the mind. Although this is much easier for experienced meditators, I have found that the regular practice of this technique for 3 minutes a day is sufficient that you will see a transformation in your life.

As such, using this technique where you take control as the director of your life is sufficiently empowering and rewarding that you begin to monitor and edit your thoughts on an ongoing basis consciously. In this way, you manifest the power to “Change Your Thoughts to Change Your Life.

This power is your birthright. This power is yours to use or ignore. This technique is a tool in your quest to “Be and Become All That You Are Meant to Be.”

Namaste,

   Genevieve

You Don’t Have to Be Perfect

You Don’t Have to Be Perfect

You Don't Have To Be Perfect by Genevieve Gerard

Or, more realistically, you can be perfect exactly as you are.

That does not mean that there aren’t things you could have done better. There probably are.

Yet, the amazing thing about the adventure through life is you get another chance to try a different way to handle almost any situation that life brings your way. Perfection only exists moment to moment, situation to situation.

Realizing this can be very freeing. Life as it unfolds offers you the unlimited opportunity to learn and grow from your mistakes. If you never make mistakes, you may be denying yourself the valuable opportunity to learn and grow. So much of what interferes with your ability to be happy comes from self-judgment and harsh self-criticism that it is important to consider this aspect of life experience.

Be happy with being you. Love your flaws. Own your quirks. And know that you are just as perfect as anyone else, exactly as you are.
        – Ariana Grande

Perfection, the whole concept of being perfect is a paradox. On one level, you are perfect exactly as you are. On another level, you could use a little improvement. No one is perfect. If you ever meet someone who thinks they are perfect, their imperfection is hubris and pride.

When writing this post, I went to a site to pick a photo to go along with it. I put the word perfection in the search bar. There were 233,000 pages of photos available, many of specific body parts designed to be used for Photoshop (photo editing) versions of unrealistic standards of beauty or perfection. That mere fact showed me how important it is for someone to not hold his or her life up to unrealistic and false standards of excellence.

You might recall that I explored this aspect of our tendency to hold ourselves up to unrealistic and imaginary standards in another Wisdom Wednesday Blog (see hand-picked post link on expectations at the bottom of this page.)

So many times in life, the tendency to hold yourself up to an unrealistic and unachievable standard of perfection creates stress, anxiety, and disappointment. This can interfere with your ability to enjoy life in the moment and appreciate what is actually happening. Life does not demand perfection, but life does require learning.
        – Genevieve Gerard

The ability to learn from a mistake is one of the most fantastic and marvelous things about the human experience. Once a mistake has been made you have the ability, in your complex and remarkable mind, to immediately understand and analyze what you just experienced and quickly evaluate the success and satisfaction with the outcome. What you do not have the ability to do is to change what happened. That is now in the past. It is time to let it go of the past. It is time to forgive, either yourself or another and open up to what is now unfolding at this moment. It is time to learn by considering other options you have.

Once that has been accomplished, the experience, whatever the experience was, good or bad, beautiful or ugly, has served its function in your life. No purpose is served by criticism or judgment beyond the evaluation of how you might wish to handle this kind of situation the next time you encounter it. Ponder on this!

If you store that in your life lessons data bank, then you can move on to whatever is coming into manifestation. What is coming into manifestation is not yet created, is not yet happening, so you need not be concerned until it does. Also, you are assured that you will be given the opportunity to demonstrate and integrate what you have learned.

You are not perfect and you have no need to be perfect. Most believe only God is perfect and you are not God so you can be gentle with yourself, you can be kind to yourself and you can let whatever you have just learned to be an asset to help you cope with and handle whatever new opportunity is coming your way. You can forgive yourself for whatever mistake you might have made either by commission or by omission.

Life will present you with another chance, an opportunity to try or apply the lesson you have just learned. You do not get just one chance or even just a second chance, you get as many chances as you need, unlimited until you have learned what you are trying to learn.

Then, even after you have learned the specific lesson, life comes around again to give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learned. Therefore, it is the understanding of an experience or event in life that is important, not the perfection that is more often than not an imaginary standard.

If you think about all of the times in your life that holding an event or situation up to this imaginary measurement of perfection has left you feeling disappointed or dissatisfied then you will have learned a valuable life lesson. If you choose to apply this lesson with compassion and forgiveness, you have set the stage for a new opportunity to present itself to you.

Therefore, I urge you today, to be kind to yourself, be compassionate with yourself, and forgive yourself easily, freely and frequently. You don’t have to be perfect. You already are an excellent student of life by your nature, and that is quite sufficient. In this whole world, indeed in this entire universe, there is only one you. The only perfection you will ever need to achieve is to be you. You are already perfect in the mind of God. Any other kinds of perfection are not only not possible but also unnecessary.

For you to truly be and become all that you already are and learn and evolve and grow through life’s lessons and events is enough. Now take a deep breath in through your nose, exhale fully through your mouth, and say after me:

I am enough; I am enough exactly as I AM

Live your life to the fullest and learn from everything life deposits on your pathway.

Do the best you can with what you have available in your exact situation and circumstance and keep moving forward by learning, forgiving and opening up to whatever unusual imperfect situation is coming to you.

It might help to say or affirm when you wake up each morning:

Morning Affirmation

Today, as my life unfolds before me I am ready to learn, to gain in wisdom and understanding what it is to live.

I appreciate this adventure of life.

I open myself to experience fully all that life has available for me, today.”

        – Genevieve Gerard

This attitude and this approach to your day will set you up to enjoy whatever life brings, knowing that any mistake you may make can be forgiven. Every circumstance and situation is an opportunity to grow and learn. Seize that opportunity.

Take from it as much as you can in the present, then let it go into the past. In this way, you can appreciate the diversity of life’s adventure. Before you, the future is being created, evolving and forming, right now.

Enjoy. Grow. Thrive!

Namaste,
