Being In The Now

Today Is A New Day

Today Is A New Day

What You See Right Now by Genevieve Gerard

This post is part of my on-going series on Awareness & Being In The Now.

Life requires choices.

Some choices you have made in the past have been both wise and wonderful.  And if you are at all like me, as you have moved through your life experiences some choices have been awful and awesome mistakes.  That’s life!

What matters in this great adventure we call life is not that you have chosen well in the plethora of choices and paths that have laid before you, but what you have learned.

Some decisions you have considered mistakes.  Yet, when you look at them as your life lessons, you will possibly see that they may have taken you in a way you may not have gone without that mistake.

A life without mistakes is a life without purpose.  It is the times you have dared, dreamed and stretched beyond what you believed was possible that give your life definition.  The way we learn, as a human being is by trial and error.  That makes a mistake as necessary as the trial.

Sometimes, after a particularly painful error, you might get angry with yourself.  You might even get caught up in blame and shame and doubt.  I suggest that you not waste your time and energy blaming yourself.

I suggest that each mistake is explored as the opportunity to learn and grow that it is.  When you discover the lesson from that mistake, you remember that you are now wiser and more capable than you were before.  As you step into the new opportunities that are available for you today, you are forearmed by the mistakes and errors of your past.

Considering all the mistakes you have made in your life, you have been uniquely prepared for what life is offering you right NOW, TODAY.

Never Forget Today Is A New Day

To take advantage of the new possibilities that are emerging several life lessons can help you seize the present.  Since ancient times the advice of Carpe Diem has been a call to action.  It is the advice to seize the day and make the most of the opportunities that are emerging today.

Things You Can Do To Empower & Support Yourself

In my many years as a counselor and life coach, and more importantly as a human being who has made many mistakes and learned many life lessons, I have found that there are things you can do to empower and support yourself.  I would like to share a few of those simple life lessons with you right now, today.

  1. Be gentle with yourself. Once you have learned the life lesson of the error you have made incorporate that understanding into your life and then let it go.
  2. Forgive yourself. You are not perfect.  You are not designed to be perfect.  You were created to learn by experience, trial, and error.  Once you gave something the trial and made the error, let that error be in the past.  It no longer defines you.  It is over and finished.
  3. Next, open yourself to the unlimited opportunities that present themselves to you right now, today.

Yesterday is but today’s memory, and tomorrow is today’s dream.
         – Khalil Gibran

  1. Dare to dream about today, for dreams are the creative power of your mind and work with the creative energy of the universe. You can create the life you desire when you dare to dream.
  2. Listen to the promptings of your Higher Self (Soul) for Grace comes in the silent promptings of your Soul to help you align with your life purpose.

Today is a new day.  The possibilities and opportunities that present themselves today have never been available before.  They are unique to right now, today.  However, to take advantage of those possibilities, you must put your past behind you.

Free yourself from the tyranny of your own self-judgment and criticism.  Let yourself see and then release all the reasons you were vulnerable and misguided by your failure to understand what you now can see clearly.

What you see right now, today is what matters.

To learn from a past mistake does not mean to continue to berate yourself for having made a mistake.  Learn the lesson and then trust yourself to know better now, do better now.
         – Genevieve Gerard

There is no day more bursting with new possibilities than today.  Life has given you the opportunity for a reset.  It is called today.  What you do with it can only be done now, today.  If you could have done it before now, you would have.

All that is past has no power over you!

As the old saying goes, “Today is the first day of the rest of your life.  Make it the best of your life.”  It is what you do with your day that matters.

So, shake off your past mistakes like the dust from a town you have left behind.  The future is beckoning you, but you must walk through right now, today to get there.

Daily Affirmations To Empower & Support You

Right Now, Today Affirmations

These Right Now, Today affirmations may help you if you repeat them often:

Right now, today, I will forgive myself, knowing that what I have learned from past errors has prepared me for what today brings and what tomorrow may bring like a stern teacher.

Right now, today, I will appreciate all of the life experiences and life lessons I have learned for they brought me to today.

Right now, today, I will open myself and my life to the guidance of my Soul that I may fulfill my unique purpose in this span of years that I have been granted.

Right now, today I will be bold with my dreams and courageous in my actions to seize and see the opportunities large and small that life offers me.

Ultimately, you really only have this moment in time.

Realize deeply that the present moment is all you have. Make the NOW the primary focus of your life.
         – Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now

Now, life awaits your exploration of this adventureI celebrate you, right here, right now.

At Each Moment You Decide

At Each Moment You Decide

Read At Each Moment You Decide by Genevieve Gerard

I love mornings.

There is magic in each morning. No other time of the day is so rich with promise.

Just think, this day has never been before; it is unique.

What is possible today has never been possible before.  Whatever has happened in your past is NOW over.  You are free.  You can lay your burden down and release it into the past where it belongs.

The only power it has over you is what you choose to give it.  You can, in the magic of this morning and the magic of this moment, start anew.  This is the power of the dawn.

To claim this power, you may have some things you need to do.  You may need to forgive yourself.  You may need to forgive someone else.  Whatever forgiveness is required is possible.

Claim the magic of this morning to open your heart and your mind to the unlimited potential of this day.  This day has never been here before.  It is just NOW emerging and being created.

The ideas and solutions to life’s mysteries that are revealed to you today belong only to this moment and are filled with your co-creative power.  What you think of in the magic of the morning takes form and substance through the laws of life that “energy follows thought.”

You are a child of God imbued with the spark of Divine Light that gives you the power in your thoughts to control and create your reality.  You are, of all of the creation, the only one given the power of co-creation.  That is the miracle of what it means to be a human being.

The choice is yours.  Make of this day what you will.  Create with this day what you wish. In each moment you get to decide.

Joy is yours for the taking.

What is most surprising about this miraculous morning is you can create whatever you need.  If you need to suffer, you can suffer.  If you need fear, you can paralyze yourself with fear.

Today is an adventure in your experience of life.

All of the drama that life contains can come into your day,
for good or ill, by your will.
        – Genevieve Gerard

You might ask “why would I create pain and sorrow.”  And, that is certainly a good question to ask yourself.  “Why would I choose to suffer paralyzing fear?”  “Why wouldn’t I choose anything but joy, success, or happiness?”  The pain, sorrow and the failures you experience can provide valuable lessons that have a profound impact on your life.

These things may seem to be just happenstance, the accumulation of circumstances beyond your control.  And you can cloak yourself in the illusions of life that make situations and circumstances seem beyond your power to control or influence.  You choose whether these moments give you comfort or excuses that relieve you of the responsibility for your life.

In the magic of morning, I invite you to let the darkness fall from your eyes as the Light comes into being.  You are a miracle of creation infused with a spark of the Divine.  You are the Son of Man who is a co-creator with the creator.

This can be both a great blessing and a great responsibility.  What you do with this day matters.  What you create with your thoughts have consequences.  They may be unintentional consequences or very intentional consequences; the choice is yours.

There is in every day and every circumstance two possibilities.  There’s a positive side and a negative side and at each moment you decide.
           – Bernie Gunther (High Cards)

What will you do with the magic of this moment?

What will you choose for this as yet unformed day brimming with potential and unclaimed possibilities? What will you create with this formless day that lies before you with no footprints yet upon it?

This moment, this opportunity has never been before.  Life can change in the twinkling of an eye.  All that has ever come before this time can be safely tucked into the past.  Its time is now over.

It can only affect you if you let it if you cling to it.  Come into NOW.

Your life and your future are being molded into being what you choose NOW.  What you think and how you use your co-creative power is the creative force that shapes your emerging experience.

Seize from this magical moment the power to take control of the day and do great things with it.  Free yourself as you forgive and forget every limitation that has ever held you captive.

Calm your mind, open your heart and invite the Light of the new day into the new being you are becoming with the magic of this morning.  This day has never been before and will never come again.  Make the best of it, take the best of it.

It is NOW and in the NOW there is a great power.

Realize deeply that the present moment is all you ever have.
Make the NOW the primary focus of your life.
           – Eckhart Tolle

Unleash the power in your mind to claim the unlimited potential of the present.  That is the magic of each morning.  That is the promise of every new day.

Align yourself with your Life’s purpose.  New possibilities are revealing themselves to you today.  New thoughts, ideas you have never thought before, emerge from the creative power of your mind.

Open the space for new opportunities to come to you today.  Let the Law of Attraction attract to you all that you need for success.

Shed from your thoughts any limiting beliefs.  Clear from your being all that has ever held you back.  This is a new day; let yourself find a new way.

This is the magic contained in the morning.  This magic is available for you to claim today, right here, right now.

As the old saying reminds us, “Today is the first day of the rest of your life.  Make it the best of your life.” – anonymous.

It All Depends on Your Perspective

It All Depends on Your Perspective

Read It All Depends On Your Perspective blog post by Genevieve Gerard

How you experience something is influenced by your perspective.

Everything that happens in life is always being processed, cataloged and interpreted by the combined influence of the input of your physical senses, sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch.

As quickly and spontaneously as that information is noted and processed a flood of emotion is added to the situation. Immediately, your quicksilver mind begins evaluating, processing and analyzing. The sum total of your life experience is spontaneously judging and comparing what is being experienced.

The power of realizing this amazing way that information and events are being experienced is that you have the potential to interpret and truly understand an event simultaneously. This gives you great power to be in the role of the director in your life.

In spiritual teaching, in the Ageless Wisdom and in so much of psychological and motivational thinking is the reminder that how you react to any life circumstance is important. Every situation and happening require interpretation. In that process of interpretation lays a profound secret of being happy vs. sad, frightened or excited, fulfilled or disappointed.

When you wake up every day, you have two choices. You can either be positive or negative; an optimist or a pessimist. I choose to be an optimist. It’s all a matter of perspective.
      ~ Harvey Mackay

Perspective is important. Unfortunately, so much of your response to an occurrence is framed in an automatic almost knee-jerk reaction to what is happening and does not come from a fair evaluation and comprehension of what is unfolding. So much is being colored by fear and the desire to avoid pain that it takes being conscious and living in the moment when you consider something to have a true perspective.

This is one of the reasons that when you do the personal work to release your fears you can have a cumulative effect on every aspect of your life.

To be able to consider something consciously requires a multitude of very important and significant factors.

Perhaps the most important factor to consider when you are evaluating and responding to something is to ask if your response is based on what is happening right here, right now in your present situation.

This is very important because the tendency to respond to something is often influenced by the past. Unfortunately, in making a correlation between something that is happening in the present and in the past, all too often fears come in. Once fear enters the equation, whether it be from the input of your mind chatter (also at times called the “Monkey Mind”), you are no longer experiencing the present, the moment, the NOW, but living in the past.

When you observe the influence of the past from the perspective of the detached observer, you are able to shift your consciousness into the present moment, and that can transform your experience of the past or the present.
      ~ Genevieve Gerard

The realization you gain as the detached observer enables you to engage consciously the power of your mind to reframe and reinterpret your experiences of the past.

To use your awareness and your perspective in this empowering way enables you to be the director in your life rather than the actor and reactor. It allows you to harness the incredible power of your mind to manifest the life that you have dreamt about. It puts you into an active and vibrant partnership with your Higher Self or Soul so that you can be a co-creator in your life with that Source.

In order for you to experience this and have a better understanding, I will share with you a detached observer technique.

Seeing As the Detached Observer

– a technique to transform your life

The first step in this process is found in really understanding the word “detached.” When you look at your life, events and situations using the detached observer technique it is important to be as “detached” as you possibly can. The detached observer does not judge or criticize; the observer only needs to observe.

It helps if you realize that the part of you that is the observer is the Higher Self. By affirming and connecting with your Higher Self in the start of this process, you have already shifted your perspective to a more enlightened awareness of the situation.

The second step is to focus your attention and determining how much of what you are experiencing is leftover fears of frustration or failure from the past. You are then able to enter into the present as you consciously and with intention put the past behind you, knowing and affirming that the past is powerless in the present moment and in the future. What has the potential to be created now is filled to the brim with potential and possibility because it is yet to be manifested.

Next you want to reinforce further your alignment with your Soul. This can be aided by the addition of the aspect of Divine Will into the unfoldment of your circumstance or situation. Your will, intention and goals will be enhanced when they are in union with Divine Will in your role as a co-creator of your life with the Divine.

Ultimately, focusing your conscious mind on being in the present also has a ripple effect on your life because by doing this you release your fears that are based on your past or your unknown possible future. This further empowers you when you, again consciously, choose to observe without judgment or criticism, stilling the toxic mind chatter of “should have, would have, could have” thinking.

While using this detached observer technique it is helpful to take deep and relaxing breaths. You may be pleasantly surprised how much stress you can relieve by doing this. Simply breathe in deeply through your nose and breathe out long relaxing breaths through your mouth.

Next having aligned with your Higher Self, and opened your mind to the objective assessment that is required to be detached be open to automatically creating a shift in your perspective and perception. This new perspective and perception are now having a dynamic change for good in your life.

With this new frame of reference you can now consciously reframe your interpretation of the situation and apply insights or use techniques such as affirmations; I am statements, or even prayers, meditative ponderings and invocations to reinforce what you have realized in this perspective shifting technique.

It is also frequently reported that using the method of the detached observer and accordingly releasing the fears that come from the past, has a healing influence on your emotions as you realize that you are not bound or limited by your past beliefs that may have been limiting you.

Remember, you can receive these benefits when you consciously align with your Soul and use your mind as the powerful tool that it is in your life.

Having now aligned with the consciousness, the Love and the wisdom of your Soul, it is with your mind and your emotions that your personality must incorporate the new insights, the promptings and the guidance you have received. You are a whole being as a human being.

Finally, to actually manifest your full possibility and potential in life you must utilize, integrate and incorporate the wholeness of yourself, calling upon and using all of you, valuing and including all of the input awareness granted to you by your body with your five senses, then appreciate the sensing’s that are provided by your emotions and the insight of your intellect and mind. This is the information that your personality can integrate and utilize instantly in any and every life situation. The simplest way to reinforce this is with regular meditation.

I have found daily meditation is a powerful tool for helping you free your fears and clear your energy field of the congestion of clinging to old hurts, past failures, and past pains. Although I recommend daily meditation, when you are working to release the residuals of your fears and your sorrows, it helps to do an energetic clearing technique throughout the day to help process these emotions.

Because of the law that “energy follows thought” you are able to use your thoughts to release your fears throughout the day while you are busy living your life. Recently, I was speaking to a friend of mine, and we were talking about 2 of my most effective healing meditations “I am Feeling Free” and the longer “Feeling Free” meditation. I shared that during the most difficult times in my life I used the energetic clearing techniques included in these two meditations hundreds of times in a day. Moreover, I still use this technique (that you can do instantly in any situation) whenever I find myself experiencing anger, frustration or fear.

I hope you now have a better understanding that the sooner you clear away the residual of an uncomfortable or unsettling experience, the sooner you can be in present time and react and respond to life free of what is having an influence over you from the past, from your fears or from your limiting beliefs so that you can take advantage of what opportunity of possibility is in the here and now for you.

Namaste,

Genevieve

What to Do While Waiting

What we can do while we are waiting for Godot

Often, in life, we find ourselves ready to proceed with whatever we are planning to do, but find that we have to wait.

Waiting brings up a lot of feelings, impatience, frustration, annoyance, even at times anger. But waiting patiently also provides us with a unique opportunity not found at other times in life: the chance to rest in, or be in the moment, without the distractions of doing.

That sense of powerlessness can be turned into a time of empowerment by turning whatever time we are required to wait, into a space to center ourselves, and let ourselves bask in the pleasure and the joy of just being in the now.

Surrendering to the moment in which there is nothing else to do (and therefore nothing else you need to do) but just enjoy being, in the now. Comment and let me know your experience.

Namaste,

Genevieve

How Being in the Now Heals Your Past

Being in the Now

There is great freedom in being in the now. In the present moment that is, right now, any burden in life is scaled down in perspective. It is only when an event or circumstance is outside of the now, outside of the moment that we become overwhelmed. In the now, we always have the strength to bear whatever life requires. The thoughts that things will always be the way they are now adds a burden we were never meant to bear. Most importantly we do not have to bear that pain. If we choose we can, by shifting our consciousness and our perspective to the now, remove that pain as if it never existed, because, it doesn’t exist in the now. It is only a past or future thought form projection that we have placed a meaning on. You can heal your life, give yourself a fresh perspective.
