This post is part of my ongoing series on Soul Awakening.

There comes a time in the human experience that you need more than logic to solve a problem.

Your mind may replay possible solutions to your problems, only to cast them aside. You may have a sense that the wisdom you are seeking lies just outside of your reach.

You may feel a prompting that you cannot quite grasp. Your intuition may be warning you that you are about to make a mistake, but you lack the clarity to stand with the strength and assurance to find a different way.

This is the time to invoke the wisdom and the guidance of your Higher Self.

To invoke your Higher Self will aid and empower you. When you realize that the directions and insights are coming from the part of yourself that is most attuned, and aligned with your divine spark and the higher purpose in your life, it shifts your perspective and strengthens you.

Consciously connecting with your Higher Self empowers your life and your decisions. You can invoke Your Higher Self whenever you need its wisdom and guidance. Your Higher Self is internally tuned in with the purpose of your life. It opens you to a sense of your inner wisdom and your inner knowing.

Steps To Invoke Your Higher Self

INTENTION

Perhaps the most significant step in connecting with your Higher Self is your intention.

Intention fuels a manifestation of an energetic connection that is always there, although you may not always feel or experience it. Intention activates the pathway from your physical and etheric body to the subtle energetic substance that forms the Soul or Higher Self.

It is your intention that activates an energetic bridge from your lower mind and personality to the part of you that is your Higher Self. It is important to remember that your Higher Self is a part of your anatomy every bit as real and significant as what you can see, touch, smell, taste, and feel. It cannot, not help but be a part of you.

We should not pretend to understand the world only by the intellect.
The judgement of the intellect is only part of the truth.
        – Carl Jung

That you rarely consider your Higher Self consciously does not make it any less real and present. You rarely consciously consider the blood that circulates through your body or the oxygen it delivers throughout your physical body, but we all know they are real.

Your Higher Self is as much a part of the wholeness of your being, even though it’s substance is not composed of matter.

IMAGINATION

Because your Higher Self is composed of a substance that is uniquely different from the substance of matter, imagination in visualizing and experiencing your Higher Self can be very valuable.

Your Imagination is a function of your higher mind and is, therefore, more aligned with and attuned with the substance of your Higher Self. It is a valuable tool in helping you experience this part of your being that is beyond matter.

EXPERIENCE

In consciously connecting with your Higher Self, it is important that you open your senses beyond what you may focus on in your so-called, “normal consciousness.”

You may need to expand your awareness of a part of your energy field that you may most often ignore. To come into a conscious experience of your Higher Self I recommend that you calm your mind, open your heart and invite the Light. This is a prequel to the meditation experience.

The Soul speaks to you in the silence. The more you can quiet and calm your mind the more the soft, gentle whisper of the Soul can be heard.
        – Genevieve Gerard

When reaching for the conscious awareness of your Higher Self, meditation is a powerful tool. It is not essential, but the more often you forge the pathway from your lower nature and your personality to your Higher Self the easier the path is to follow (like any well-worn path in nature.) When you empower the pathway from your mind and your emotions, you build a way that etheric energy connects you with your Higher Self.

Relax and enjoy the construction of that pathway using your intention and your imagination as you open yourself to the experience of meeting your Higher Self in the meditation below.

Breathing Meditation To Invoke Your Higher Self

Begin, by inhaling a very deep breath, bringing the air in through your nose, letting it begin at your diaphragm energetically.

Bring the air into your chest and as you do this consciously open the energy of your heart to expand. Hold the intention of Love.

Then bring the breath all the way to the top of your lungs, just below the shoulders.

When you have filled your lungs as fully as you are able, release the breath through your mouth fully until you have released all of your air.

This is a relaxing breath. You might already notice how much more relaxed and at peace you feel having fully experienced a full breath.

Before you take another profound and relaxing breath, take a moment to come into this present moment. Let yourself consciously put the past behind you, and relax and appreciate the magnificent power and unlimited potential that is available, right here and right now.

Recognize that the past is now behind you. It has no further power over you or influence over you except what you choose to give it.

What will be, the future, is just beginning to be created as you let yourself relax and reside in the eternal NOW.

It is in the eternal NOW that your Higher Self resides. This moment, this peace, this Presence is available to you.

When you are ready, begin to draw in another deep relaxing and healing breath, in through your nose starting at your diaphragm, through your solar plexus and up into your heart allowing your heart energy to open and expand.

Again, bring the breath to the top of your lungs drawing in as much air as you can hold.

Then as you release this breath through your mouth it may form a sound like a sigh as you let go of any stress or concerns and let yourself relax and come to center.

Observe what you are feeling and experiencing.

Then, breathe naturally not attempting to control your breath, allowing your breath to direct how much you bring in and how much you let go of that you no longer need.

You might notice a calm and peace filling you at this time. You might be aware that you are more present.

Enter into the profound peace and potential of the eternal now, and release the past and open to the possibility of creating a new future that incorporates more of your purpose in life and your heart’s desire.

Taking one more really deep relaxing and filling breath with intention, invoke and invite the Presence of your Higher Self.

With the inhale draw into your heart and your mind the perfect amount of the very essence of your Being.

Let its Light circulate through your whole being with your breath.

As it moves from your lungs to your heart and throughout your entire physical and energy body, accept the healing power and profound love into your conscious awareness, into your heart and into your mind.

As you exhale breath out any negative thoughts or fears.

Release any limiting beliefs that keep you from expressing the magnificent and full being that you truly are.

Now sit in silence and receptivity as you listen for the still prompting of your Higher Self.

In this pause you can offer up any issue and concern on which you would like greater insight or understanding.

Be receptive and record your thoughts and insights in your journal.

Pause for reflection.

Observe the background sounds that surround you. Return to this present moment and give gratitude to your Higher Self for any insights and clarity you may have received in this guided meditation.

Now, move forward with your life confident and assured that the insight and wisdom you have applied to the situation is the right choice for your life and is aligned with your Higher Purpose.

Namaste,

   Genevieve

The Soul Connection

Soul Connection

by Genevieve Gerard

Genevieve Gerard The Soul Connection Article image

Connecting to the Soul is the most profound and transformative part of the meditative experience.

It is through the connection of the personality, the lower self, to the energy of the Soul, the Higher Self, that we are able to experience that within us which is eternal.

It is our Soul that contains the Divine spark. By connecting to our Soul we are granted a glimpse into an awareness of our oneness with all of creation. It is through our Soul that we are receptive to the Divine.

Through the practice of meditation, when the mind is quieted and the emotions are calmed the Soul shines forth in all of its glory.”

   – Genevieve Gerard

It is through the connection to the Soul that we are granted the insight into the moment that brings relief and release from life’s burdens.

Through meditation, as we connect to the Soul we are bringing ourselves into union with our Higher Self that we may experience wholeness. This unified self opens more and more to the Light, like the petals of a lotus allowing more and more awareness to flow into our life. The union with the Soul gives us an awareness of the Self that is greater and wiser than we are able to experience when focused upon our personality and personal needs and desires.

By meditating regularly to come into union with the Soul we find our perspective changing. We begin to see alternative interpretations of the events of our life. This begins slowly, and initially can only be experienced in the meditative state, but in a regular relationship with the Soul the awareness of those brief moments of connection to the Divine begins to expand and give us new insights and understandings throughout the day.

Through the process of systematically learning to quiet the mind and calm the emotions you change your life by reducing stress. Confidence in your ability to be in control of your body, mind and emotions translates into confidence to be in more control of your life.

Each time you make the conscious decision to meditate you are creating the opportunity for your lower self to gain a greater understanding of life. Just the process of quieting the mind and calming the emotions is its own reward.

When you add the connection to the Soul, the experience of meditation can expand into a receptivity that increases your understanding of your self and your life. The more regularly the connection with the Soul is experienced, the more the insights and wisdom of the Higher Self become available to you. The sense of being centered and the sense of calm confidence make their way into your daily life.

As you build and reinforce the pathway of connection to the Soul it becomes increasingly easy to touch the Light of the Soul as you go through your daily life. This touch of Soul contact helps you gain a different understanding and more profound awareness. Over time, as the connection is reinforced and strengthened you find that your life is freed more and more from the lure of negative emotions, and the experience of peace and joy will pervade your being.

Center Your Energies Before Writing

How to Center Your Energies Before You Begin to Write

Journal PenThis post is in response to a question I revived in one of the comments on my Blog.

Here are some tips and ideas to help you center your energies and clear your mind before you write. Breath as always is a key element to calming your mind and opening yourself to the insight and wisdom of your Higher Self. It is the wisdom and insight of your Higher Self that you want to access in order to do your best writing.

By connecting to the flow of energy from you Higher Self, you are able to write from the perspective of your whole being. Your thoughts can then take on the wholeness of your Self by bringing the alignments of your emotions with your mind and the wisdom and insight that your Soul brings to the expression of your self in the process of writing.

So, begin by sitting quietly and focus upon your breath. As you observe and become aware of your breath, allow your mind to quiet. The awareness of your breath automatically begins multiple events in motion. The simple act of observing your breath with no attempt to control your breathing helps you relax and bring your energy to a calm quiet and receptive place.

You can then further enhance the process of writing by forming the clear intention that your Higher Self will influence your writing.”
– Genevieve Gerard

As you sit there observing your breath letting your body calm and your mind let the chatter fade away you can further prepare to write by opening your heart and mind to the impressions and insight of your Higher Self. You can then further enhance the process of preparation by forming the clear intention that your Higher Self will influence your writing. Express that intention as an expression of your will.

You can further strengthen this connection by imagining golden light connecting your heart, your mind and your Soul in a triangle of energy. As you continue to breathe, see the light flow easily along this pathway to connect your body (at the heart center), mind (at the point of energy midway between your eyebrows) and Soul Imagine (imagined as a radiant point of Light about 3 feet above your head) the blending and fusing of those energies.

This can all be accomplished in just a few minutes. You can then engage in a meditation, or just begin to write. It is important to suspend self-criticism and self-judgment as you begin to write. You can always change and edit your writing once you have created a draft in the natural flow of your writing. Allow your writing to flow naturally.

If you find that your flow of thoughts and words slows, return to letting the breath move your energy in the magic triangle of heart, mind and Soul. You can return to blending, fusing and circulating that energy as many times as you need to throughout the process of writing whenever you feel your energy flow becomes stagnant.

Approaching your writing from a centered place of awareness, connected to your Higher Self is particularly important when you write in a journal or are engaged in creative or spiritual writing. Check out my blog post on “Keeping A Journal Can Be A Doorway To Spiritual Insight.” Even technical and business writers will benefit from taking the time to center and connect your energies before you write.

Over time, these simple steps of coordinating your breath and your intention with the connection of your heart, mind and Soul will become second nature to you and free you from the stress and tyranny of self-criticism that limits the creative process.

Counting Our Blessings

Counting Our Blessings

Calm your Mind, Open Your Heart, Invite the Light.

No matter what challenges we face in life, blessings surround us. Let us focus our mind and emotions on those blessings.

By expressing our gratitude we enrich our life and enhance the flow of abundance and joy.

As we experience Thanksgiving Day in the USA, this is a little exercise to help us be in touch with and appreciate the many blessings we have in our life.

This technique is to be approached in contact with our Higher Self from the unity between our personality and Soul.

Begin by taking a deep breath, breathing in the energy of Life and abundance. As you exhale, consciously release stress and fear.

Take a moment to let yourself appreciate the beauty of the world around you.

Take another deep breath, charging your energy with the life all around you. Again, as you exhale, consciously release any anxiety, any fear, and any stress. Let your energy come to a quiet, receptive center.

In a meditative open state of being, consider the world around you.

Take 3 minutes, to ponder upon 10 ways that your life is enriched and enhanced by little blessings and joys that do not require money to experience.

As you look over your list, express your heartfelt gratitude for these little blessings that are in your life. Let gratitude flow out from your heart. Be aware of the feelings of joy that accompany your expression of gratitude.

Claim the joy and celebration these blessing give to your life as your birthright.

Next, focus your attention on the people in your life for 3 minutes.

List 10 people for whom you are grateful in your life. Focus upon how these people have helped you grow and become who you are today.

Imagine a connection of energy from your heart to theirs, and from your Soul to theirs.

Allow gratitude to flow freely from your heart to theirs and from your Soul to theirs, knowing and trusting that your gratitude and love are experienced on a subtle energetic level.

Know and trust that as energy follows thought the gratitude you send out with your thoughts is received as a blessing in their life on a subtle, energetic level.

Last, spend 3 minutes pondering 10 ways in which you can be more of a blessing in the lives of others.

Imagine how blessing and enriching the lives of others can bring greater joy and celebration to your life. Be grateful that you are able to give these little blessings to others as a way of celebrating you abundance and joy. These little blessings do not require money. They may be a kindness or deed, a little courtesy that helps lighten the load of others who journey with you through life.

Then resolve to act upon those deeds over the next week as a celebration and affirmation of your blessings, received and passed on.

Resolve to live your life, aware of the many blessings that surround you.”

Finally draw into your heart the joy of giving and the joy of receiving and for the last minute of this exercise imagine gratitude pouring forth from you into the world, blessing you and blessing others along its way.

Sit quietly before you return to the chatter of the world around you allowing all that your have realized and touched in this exercise to permeate your being, on this Thanksgiving Day.
