This invocation from the Archives of the Masters was distributed to disciples on the path throughout timeand in its entirety to the public at the time of the full moon of June 1945by the Tibetan Master Djwhal Khul. It has become known over time as The Great Invocation.
The (below) invocation or prayer does not belong to any person or group but to all humanity. By using it and encouraging others to use it, no particular group or organization is being sponsored.
This Invocation appears frequently in newspapers and magazines in many countries and is being broadcast by radio stations all over the world. Many thousands of people are using it every day, thus creating a world-wide spiritual public opinion which can become irresistible.” – Discipleship In The New Age, Volume II, Djwhal Khul
The beauty and the strength of this Invocation lies in its simplicity, and in its expression of certain central truths which all men, innately and normally, accept — the truth of the existence of a basic Intelligence to Whom we vaguely give the name God;
the truth that behind all outer seeming, the motivating power of the universe is Love;
the truth that a great Individuality came to Earth, called by Christians the Christ, and embodied that love so that we could understand;
the truth that both love and intelligence are effects of what is called the Will of God;
and finally the self-evident truth that only through humanity itself can the divine Plan Work out.” – Discipleship In The New Age, Volume II, Alice A. Bailey
The Great Invocation
From the point of Light within the mind of God,
Let Light stream forth into the minds of men.
Let light descend on earth.
From the point of Love within the heart of God,
Let Love stream forth into the hearts of men.
May Christ return to Earth.
From the center where the Will of God is known,
Let purpose guide the little wills of men,
The purpose which the masters know and serve.
From the center which we call the Race of Men,
Let the plan of Love and Light work out,
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.
Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on earth.
Each of the four stanzas refers to one or other of the three aspects of divine energy, plus a reference to humanity itself in which the three meet, are potentiality in latency, and finally develop into the full flower of divinity, with all three lines perfectly expressed.”
– Discipleship In The New Age, Volume II, Alice A. Bailey
Your Soul, also often referred to as your Higher Self,is an integral part of who you are and what you are.
You probably believe you have a Soul, yet, your Soul is probably something which you give very little or no thought or attention.
Perhaps, as a child, you said a nighttime prayer as you memorized the words of a famous children’s prayer “Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep.”
But now, as an adult, the concept of having a Soul may not cross your mind.
If you are a participant of A.A. (Alcoholics Anonymous) or N.A. (Narcotics Anonymous), you may have wondered about step 2 of turning your life over to a Higher Power.
You may even have relegated the concept of your Soul to only matter as the eternal part of you that only matters when you die. Then you may imagine your Soul may go to heaven, or return to God.
Welcome To The Beauty Of Your Soul
Today,I would like to make you aware of your Soul as a dynamic, active and vital part of your life. A part of your life that can make you more healthy, joyful, and empowered.
I would like to introduce you to your Soul, not as something you tuck away to call upon as your life is fading away. I would like to introduce you to your Soul as a source of wisdom, a portal to divine energy that can impact and influence every day of your life starting today.
I would like to bring you into awareness of a tool that can help you every day in your life. I would like to introduce you to your Higher Self and encourage you to begin a lifelong adventure of integration and awareness that will change your life for the better, that will ultimately awaken your life.
Your Soul is more than simply the part of you that is eternal and therefore grants you access to eternal life when your material body fails and fades.
Your Soul is designed to be an active part of the wholeness of your being. It exists to be a resource engaged in your life adventure, a companion on the quest for love, for success and happiness.
Empowerment
The reason that A.A. and N.A. teach that it is important to turn your life over to a Higher Poweris that by so doing you are empowered. You are empowered by the part of you that has always been there, and will always be there to help and support you, your own Soul. You just need to awaken it.
Your Soul is not separate from God; however, you define God to be,because your Soul is the spark of Divine Light that was granted to you as you became an individuated life.
It is the part of your anatomy that maintains a connection that is eternal. No matter what you do. No matter how many mistakes you make. No matter if you stumble or fall, that connection cannot be severed.
Your Soul, like God, always works for good. It has the power to heal you once you have learned whatever life lessons dis-ease may have entered your life to teach you. From the perspective of eternity and the Divine, your life experience is designed to teach and empower you to reach higher states of consciousness.
Major Life Lessons
The Ageless Wisdom speaks of these life lessons regarding your Soulgiving you the power and strength to overcome your lower urges driven by your material nature, to greater Soul control as four major life lessons.
In each of these four major life challenges, it is your Soul that stands by to help and support you in transcending the lure or temptation of your lower (animal) self.
These four major life lessons can be broken down into:
Overcome the Desires of the Flesh – the physical part of your nature. Among these are the needs and urges that are sometimes called the seven deadly sins. They include Lust, Gluttony, Avarice or Greed, Sloth or Laziness, Wrath, Envy or Pride. I would like to re-frame these seven human challenges as the issues you are faced with in life.
Although these are sometimes called sins, I consider that they are simply the result of selfish and self-centered identification. They are tendencies and mistakes that you make when you see yourself as separate from others and separate from God.
Managing Emotions – Inherent in life lessons are also learning to manage emotions by learning to transmute, transform and transcend fear, anger, jealousy, and Ego.
Mastering the Thoughts of Your Mind – Overcoming worries, fears, negative self-talk and limiting beliefs.
Surrendering to Your Spiritual Nature – Using your Soul to integrate and master your physical, emotional and mental full lower natures (ego.)
Because these are the urges and desires of your physical and emotional nature, your Soul is ready, willing and able to help you gain mastery over these aspects of life so you can learn what it is to express Love.
The Nature of Your Soul is Love
Learning to Love is what your life adventure is about. If you break down the seven deadly sins, they can all be summarized as not expressing the highest form of Love.
As learning how to Love is the business of life, so teaching you how to Love and opening you to Love is the business of the Soul in your life. – Genevieve Gerard
Your Soul is available to help you transmute, transform and transcend any and all aspects of your lower-self that keep you separated from the highest forms of love. Among these lower-aspects are addictions to alcohol, food, sex, cigarettes or drugs. The power of your Soul to empower you to conquer these urges is why all of the Anonymous programs encourage step 2 in the A.A. model.
Connecting with your Soul and surrendering your addiction to the healing power of your Soul gives you the strength and ability to conquer physical desires and cravings.
Likewise, being guided by your Soul frees you from the emotional attachments of desire that led the Buddha to acknowledge that life was suffering and that attachment was the cause of the suffering. Attachment is not love, although it can easily get confused with Love.
Love is life’s greatest gift.Love is life’s greatest blessing.Love is eternal. It is perhaps the one thing we can create as material beings that open us to our eternal and Divine nature.
Your Soul can guide you to learning to Love, not the “sticky and needy” love of attachment, but rather the freeing and inspiring Love of the Spirit. It is that which is eternal, empowering and life transforming.
Your Soul is a resource to empower you to be all that you can be. Through Soul Awakening, you are open to who you truly are as a “child of God” who is also the “Son of Man (Human).” It is your Soul that keeps you connected with God, and with the whole heavenly realm of angelic beings. It is your Soul that is your internal and external source of truth and wisdom.
Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it. – Rumi
By activating and engaging in a conscious awakening of your Soul, you activate peace, love, and joy in your life. By surrendering to the wisdom of your Soul in times of trouble and confusion, temptation or terror, you are opening to living life abundantly.
I leave you today with a little Mantram of Unification I have adapted that you may find helpful to affirm out loud daily:
I let my Soul control my outer form in my life and all events so it may bring to Light the Love that underlies the happenings of time.
Let wisdom come with insight. Let the future stand revealed. Let inner wisdom demonstrate and any outer illusions be gone. Let Love prevail in my life.
May all know love.
– Alice A. Bailey, Djwal Khul
Discipleship in the New Age, Vol. II (adapted by Genevieve Gerard)
As I was reading a previous post, I came across the phrase “a life that is soul infused.”
The phrase “a life that is Soul infused” stayed with me in my morning meditations because in this dance through life’s adventures it is when you can let your personality and ego be infused by the love and wisdom of the Soul that the real power and resounding joy of a spiritual life are experienced.
It led me to ponder how life is different when you are “Soul infused.”
In the teachings of the Ageless Wisdom, your Soul is not only an integral part of your essential nature but is also a resource you can draw upon to empower and transform your life. That your Soul provides support and power in the overcoming of physical addictions has long been an essential element in the success of Alcoholics Anonymous 12-step programs. The connection and surrender to the “Higher Self and Higher Power” have been a source of strength and comfort to many who have struggled with addiction.
This transition is so deeply embedded in the spiritual journey that the Ageless Wisdom refers to it as a step in your spiritual evolution. With each spiritual initiation, there is an increasing amount of atomic energy that the Soul gains control over. The first initiation helps and supports you in achieving mastery over your physical cravings.
Likewise, what is referred to in the Ageless Wisdom as the second initiation the individual can use their Soul influence to transcend the domination of the emotional body. This use of your Soul as an integral part of learning life lessons is esoteric. It clarifies ways you can gain mastery over your life through a dynamic and active relationship with your higher self, your Soul. It takes you from being powerless in your physical cravings or vulnerable to your emotions and desires to being able to integrate and fuse the wholeness of your being in a way that allows you to manifest your full potential as a human being.
As I write these words and consider the struggle and pain that life is for so many,I cannot help but take this opportunity to assure you that within you, within the depth of your heart, within the promptings of your intuition, within the essence of your being, is your Soul. It is and has always been with you. Your Soul has always been a part of you. And, most miraculously you can call upon it to help you in your life.
If, before reading these words you have through your life come to know your Soul, even in glimmers of peace and comfort that may have come to you when you prayed or meditated, then these words will resonate with you. You might find a smile coming spontaneously to your lips. You could feel yourself relax a bit even though nothing has changed in your life at all.
What it is empowering to understand about yourself and your Soul is that although your Soul is an essential part of your spiritual anatomy, it is most often silent allowing your personality and “lower self” to control your life. Free will, which is an essential part of the “rules” of spiritual life require that you reach for the connection to your Soul before it gets involved.
To have a relationship with your Soul is a choice.
– Genevieve Gerard
In times of great sorrow, great duress, and great danger it is common in the human experience for you to reach out for that higher source connection unconsciously. Since you are on an archetypal and intuitive level aware that your Soul is an integral part of who and what you are, this is natural. Your consciousness is, on an ongoing basis most likely functioning as a duality that exists between your Soul and your personality ( and ego.) What is most often the wisdom and perspective of your “Higher Self” is often unconscious.
Flashes of intuition and awareness of what is right action bargain for control of what you do and say. Your Soul is always available to respond to your invitation and invocation. Otherwise, it stands silently by as you explore the university of learning life and spiritual lessons from your mistakes and mishaps.
The Soul does not interfere. It may give flashes of insight through intuition, but it leaves the control for what decisions you make firmly in the hands of your personality and ego so that can choose to listen to the intuitive nudge, or not.
Ultimately, in your life, there is a myriad of choices that need to be made. They fall into choices you make that relate to the key aspects of your anatomy.
There are many choices and options. There are decisions of what you eat or drink. Decisions about whether or not you choose to indulge in the vast variety of things that are known to be bad for your body, whether or not they are addictive. There are throughout your day a bevy of seemingly insignificant decisions that have an impact.
There are emotional choices you make. How you express or limit your expression of your emotions has a significant impact on your life. These are all selections you make throughout every moment and day of your life and how you make them influences your experience in a way that little else can.
Whether you are trapped in your fears or worries effects your health and your overall well-being and your personal happiness. Your emotional choices have a dynamic influence on your life and so, calling upon the guidance and wisdom of your Soul as you strive to manage and master these volatile and dramatic parts of your being make sense.
There is also a myriad of choices you continually make that activate your mental powers. As I have written many times in a variety of ways your thoughts are energy released into the world that has creative and magnetic power. “Energy Follows Thought.” Even in the most ancient of times, spiritual teachings from the Bible (Proverbs 23:7) declare“As a man thinketh so shall he be.”
As I review each of the parts of your nature and being that influence who you are, how you live and what you experience it is evident to see that your Soul can help you master every area of your life. The incredible miracle of your nature as a human being who has been endowed by your creator with the spark of Divine Light (your Soul) is that integrated into your nature is a resource to help you through all of life’s challenges. That is your Soul.
Expressing your Divine Spark; is a significant way to demonstrate your love and your service to others. Enter coupon code “NGWS50” to instantly download this meditation for only $5 USD.
Your Soul is uniquely yours and always available to you to help you, guide you, support you, and empower you. It offers you unconditional love and understanding. It is a limitless resource that is available to you whenever you need it.
You can open your life to this love, this source of wisdom and this Divine blessing through meditation, prayer, and contemplation.
Your Soul speaks to you in the silence, through your intuition, in your dreams, and through your consciousness. – Genevieve Gerard
Your Soul is always an integral part of who you are. The more you can recognize the voice of your Soul within your being, the easier it is tolet the Soul’s perspective of love and wisdom direct your life decisions, physical, emotional and mental.
In so doing you invoke and invite “Soul control” and Soul infusion into the miraculous blend of your life.
There are words from the Mantram of Unification I like to use in my meditations and invocations that talks to this way of living. I invite you to add them to your affirmations or meditations when and where you will.
Let the Soul control the outer form, and life and all events,
And bring to light the love that underlies the happenings of the times. – Alice A. Bailey (Djwhal Khul – Discipleship in the New Age Vol II)
If moved to do so, you can also invoke the balance of the mantra, “Let vision come and insight. Let the future stand revealed. Let inner wisdom demonstrate, and outer cleavages be gone. Let love prevail. Let all men and women love.”
I find this mantram empowers and influences my life in dynamic and dramatic ways. I encourage you to take a few moments throughout every day to connect with your Soul so that you can lead a life that is Soul infused.
Within you is a song that is unique to you.It is the song of your Soul.
The Song of the Soul is the voice with which you join in the celestial music that is known as the heavenly hosts. It is a pulsing thrum that joins to create what is known as the music of the spheres. It is probably not a song you hear or are aware of as you rush through your daily life.
The Song of Your Soul is found only within the sound of silence, the silence that is within all sound.
I would invite you to open your life and your inner sense to this voiceas a meditative experience to help you increase your awarenessof the beauty and magnificence of your Soul. This meditative experience is an experiment in consciousness. As with all meditative experiences your experience is unique to you and is guided by the wisdom of your Soul to offer you what you need at this exact moment in timeand what can be of benefit to you right here and right NOW.
At times, and I must admit that they are rare and precious times; in deep meditation I have heard the music of the spheres. In those singular and treasured times, I have felt transported to the angelic realm. I have been so filled with love that it overflows my mind and my heart as I am infused with the love of my Soul.
I have never written about these peak meditative experiences before. I have not spoken of them often even among my spiritual meditation group. They are moments of bliss and communion with the Divinethat I doubt I can even find the perfect words to express.
So, when in my morning meditation I felt directed to write about one of these extraordinary momentsI immediately found my “mind chatter” limiting me. I found myself doubting that I could do what I felt I was being guided to do. Then, when I felt directed to create a meditation to open you and others to this extraordinary experience my mind and my personality began to argue that1.) It couldn’t be done. 2.) I was both incapable and more significantly not worthy to even try to do it.
My very human experience of denying the directing of my Soul led me to consider how often my “mind chatter” and insecurities stop me from being who I am meant to be, or doing what I am directed to do. Sadly, I must admit much more often than I would like it to be.
No matter how often I surrender my personal Will to Divine Will and I do it very often, not only each day but frequently throughout the day; I am still limited by my beliefs. And, no matter how often I dedicate myself to the Divine work and purpose, I know that what I give and what I offer falls short of the magnificence of my Soul with which I regularly align in my meditations. This is the conflict between the Soul and the personality.
Here I sit in my morning meditations and writing time feeling directedto create something to help others touch what I have only been able to touch in the exalted peak moments of my meditations. I have to trust that although my efforts will fall short of perfection, it is important to make my very best effort.
How I Try To Listen To the Song of My Soul
First, to try to write something that can provide a portal to this transcendent experience I find that I must, as I recommend to you each time I create a guided meditation, calm my mind. Then I must open my heart. As I strive to do this, I am filled with the Love that I have for you.
Please ponder on these words as I share with you the blessing andthe beauty of the Touch of your Soul that this meditative experience can provide you. I have faith and trust that your Soul will direct and guide you to experience what is right for you.
Then in full faith, with trust and confidence that my Soul has wisdom beyond my mind, I invite the Light of my Soul to guide me.
The words of one of my favorite mantras comes to me and with intention I invoke:
May the energy of the divine self inspire me
and the light of the soul direct.
May I be led from darkness to light,
from the unreal to the real,
from death to immortality. – Djwhal Khul (Tibetan master)
With that openness and invitation to the Light, I shall strive to quiet the criticism and judgements of my mind chatter. I attempt to capture for you the direction of my Soul tocreate a guided meditative experience to help you open to the Touch of your Soul so that you too may hear the song of your Soul.
Within my mind’s chatter is an understanding that my best efforts as a human being will fall short of the glory of the Soul in its realm as it joins with the angels and the heavenly hosts. Still, I will dip my pen in heaven and write as best I can to create this for you. After that, you will have to rely on the wisdom of your Soul to guide you.
What it will reveal and what you will experience is uniquely for you. As I frequently advise before you begin any meditation where you consciously open to and invite Soul contact, I recommend that you have a journal beside you to record the impressions, images and promptings of your Soul.
Although you may be propelled by the business and busyness of life, with your awareness focused on your body, emotions, mind and your personality’s needs and desires; each and every one of us is endowed with a Soul, that is a spark of Divine Light and is our eternal essence.
Listen To the Song of My Soul Meditation
Take a minute now and sit with your spine aligned andyour feet firmly on the floor as you open your whole being to this moment of time. Let all that has come before in your life fade away as you come into the eternity of the now.
Imagine the Light of your Soul as a radiating Light three to six feet above your head.
Soul Light Descending
Then visualize that Golden Light descending into your field of energy (your aura) into the top of your head, down into your heart filling your heart with Love.
To enter into this meditative experience you must hear, not with you physical ears but with your Soul,a song of the sounds that are the essence of all sound that is found only in the silence. Quiet yourself and connect to the part of you that is One with that Divine spark, your Soul.
A Mantra that you can use to empower you to connect with and identify with your Soul is:
I am the Soul.
I am infused with the Light of my Soul.
Grace fills me with Diving Love.
As Soul, I am joined and fused with the heart of God.
As Soul, I am empowered by the Christ to
be of service to do His work in the world.
To do God’s work aligned with God’s Will,
I surrender my little will.
With gratitude and joy,
I open my heart and my mind to the directing of my Soul.
– Genevieve Gerard
Now, having identified with and aligned with your Soul, sit quietly with your mind as calm as you can bring it to be,open your heart to the outpouring grace of Divine Love. Invite again the Light of your Soul, confident of your Oneness with that Light.
This is a sacred moment. In the peace of this moment and the Presence of your Soul, sit in the silence and listen to the Song of your Soul.
Embrace whatever experience has been granted to you with gratitude. Let whatever blessings and insights that come to you grow without judgement.
Record whatever guidance and impressions linger from this experience in your journal.
Let you heart be filled with the Love of your Soul and your mind be filled with greater understanding and insight.
Before you move back into the events of your day, pause to express your gratitude for the blessings you have received.
Perhaps the most wonderful and inspiring experience you can have in meditation is to connect with your Soul.
When you connect with your Soul, also known as your Higher Self, you become aware of a part of yourself that is so glorious and magnificent that experiencing it is often transformational and profound.
To me, to connect with your Soul is the greatest gift of meditation.
IMPORTANT FACTORS
An important factor is how the regular practice of meditation actually makes it easier and easier to meditate. It is more than the old adage practice makes perfect. Each time you consciously, and with intention, connect to your Higher Self (your Soul), you are creating additional threads of energy that build a bridge to ease your passage.
Whenever you call upon the Light of the Soul for inspiration or guidance, you are building a bridge in consciousness from your personality to your Soul. In so doing you are making the wisdom of your Soul available to you.
– Genevieve Gerard
You are able to tap into and expand your awareness and perspective to a much greater understanding of who and what you are and a much deeper understanding of the meaning and purpose of your life.
BENEFITS OF CONNECTING WITH YOUR SOUL
When you meditate regularly, invoke, and invite the Presence of your Soul to be an active and incorporated part of your life, you are raising the frequency of your mind and your physical body. This leads to an expanded awareness, and insights and clarity greater than you may have believed possible.
In addition, since the nature and essence of your Soul is pure love, increasing and inviting Soul connection into your life expands your experience of true love and increases your understanding and ability to love.
One of the other profound benefits of calling on your Soul in meditation is an awareness of the connection and interconnection of all of life. This expanded awareness is often accompanied by feelings of unity and purpose. It often fills you with a very deep joy. This sense of universal Oneness, with others and nature, can be a life-altering, magnificent experience of bliss.
USING RITUALS
Some find that the act of using rituals helps to prepare them for meditation. The primary purpose of preparing to meditate with a ritual is that the action of preparation serves to reinforce your conscious intention.
You can experiment with creating rituals that work for you. When you find one that you feel is of help, you can incorporate it into your meditation practice.
When you use a ritual the time and the effort of performing the ritual serves as a preparation and helps you be ready and receptive to the meditation process. An additional benefit of setting up a ritual is it serves the purpose of helping to quiet your mind chatter as you focus on the intent of your meditation time.
Remember, there is no right or wrong way to prepare for meditation. Although you may choose to set aside a specific amount of time for the meditation, this is all your choice and should be guided by what works for you and for your life.
Some rituals that have been helpful over the ages:
Lighting a white or gold candle. If you choose this, having a special or specific candle is usually recommended.
Burning incense (again choosing a specific scent is often helpful) although as you gain more experience with meditation you can change or shift that scent. Some choose the scent based on the desire for a specific energetic result. You may find some favorite scents that you associate with feeling peaceful or calm or feeling more empowered to reach the desired state of consciousness.
I begin all of my guided meditations with an instructional invocation:
Calm your mind, Open your Heart and Invite the Light.
Sitting quietly and receptively for some time before you start to meditate helps you quiet your mind and put everything behind you.
You can experiment with different rituals and see if they enhance the ease with which you become calm, and quiet your mind chatter so you can experience the presence of your Higher Self.
Setting aside a time daily to meditate, whether you choose to use mantrams, guided meditation experiences or affirmations or mindfulness techniques will empower you and enhance you.
Ageless Wisdom Mantram
A Mantram from the Ageless Wisdom that is often used to help you gain the wisdom of your Soul is:
May the energy of the Divine Self inspire me
and the Light of the Soul direct.
May I be led from darkness to Light,
from the unreal to the Real,
from death to Immortality.
Then, still holding your consciousness in the head and visualizing a sphere of deep electric blue, vivid and living, say the following words, endeavoring to realize their significance as you say them:
I stand in spiritual Being and, as a Soul, I serve.
I stand within the Light, and as the Light shines
throughout my form, I radiate that light.
I stand within the Love of God,
and as that Love streams through and from the heart,
I magnetise the ones I seek to aid.”
– Alice A. Bailey, Djwhal Khul “Discipleship in the New Age: Vol I” p.306
You can incorporate this mantram into a daily meditation, or it can be used as an affirmation of intention to connect with the Light of your Soul. This is a sacred time that you arrange, as much as possible, to be free of distractions or interruptions.
Regularity of the practice of meditation helps it become increasingly easy to give yourself the blessings and benefits of meditation. I can think of nothing else that provides so much opportunity for mastery, success, transformation and joy and takes such little effort.
Because meditation is such a powerful opportunity to grow and expand your consciousness, I recommend keeping a journal where you can record your insights and impressions. Writing or recording what you have received in mediation will be valuable to you over time so you can ponder, look back over, and appreciate the ways you have improved your life adventure.
This article will give you an example of a Mantra (which is a sacred utterance in a word or group of words that has psychological and spiritual power) to help you understand and explain how and why they work energetically.
The Mantram I have included in this article is one I have personally used for years.
The saying of this Mantram daily as a part of your practice of meditation will help you build the bridge to your Soul in consciousness.
Today we will use this as a stand alone meditation, so before you begin you might wish to calm your mind, open your heart and invite the Light.
As always when you meditate, I suggest you have a journal handy to record any thoughts or impressions you may receive from your Higher Self (your Soul.)
Soul Light Descending
It is often helpful to imagine or visualize the Soul as a radiating golden Light 3-6 feet above your head.
To facilitate the creation of a pathway to your Soul there are certain building blocks that help to extend and pave the road. Many of these are Mantra that have come from ancient teachings. A Mantram may have been written 5,000 years ago, or it may have been written yesterday. Today we will use a Mantram from ancient times, however; you can create one from the guidance of your Soul.
To expedite your movement on the path of meditation by the use of a Mantram you begin by stating a truth. In the stating of a truth, you use a number of very powerful energies.
You use the power of intention.
You use the power of affirmation.
And, you use the powers of invocation and evocation.
Each of these energies are in many ways similar, but they are subtly different.
So, let us take one of my favorite Mantrams and break down
how these different powerful energies work together.
The Mantram of the Soul
I am the Soul
This truth contains both affirmation and identification. An “I Am” statement has great power because of the dual voice of those two truths.
And also Love, I am
This is also an “I am” statement invoking affirmation and identification. The addition of invocation, calling in the energy of Love, adds power to the statement, as the invocation is like a prayer added to the affirmation. It is truth because you are the Soul (you cannot leave home without it). It is your nature that the Soul is a part of your essential being, and the nature of the Soul is Love.
Above all else, I am Will and clear design
Now this section not only contains the power of identification, and the power of affirmation but it adds more invocation and clarity. Will and intelligence are being added to describe not only the nature of the Soul but also the nature of the human personality; that part of the self that is working in concert with the Soul and the mind.
The Will is the constantly creating part of the self, the clear design. This constantly creating nature of the self works, whether you are consciously aware of it or not, so by directing and invoking the Will you take conscious control of your life to achieve the results you wish, by invocation, evocation, and clarification of intention.
My Will is now to lift the lower self into the Light Divine
You have now made a clear statement of intention of where you wish your personality to go: into the Light Divine. The Light Divine is another word for Spirit, so you are stating both your intention to take your lower self (personality) to your Higher Self (Soul), as both an invocation and evocation of your Will, the creative part of your nature, aligning your intention with the Divine part of your nature.
That Light I Am
Again, by affirming the truth of your identity as the Soul Light, you add the power of identification, the power of affirmation, the power of invocation and the power of evocation (invitation for the Soul energy to make itself known.)
Therefore, I must descend to where the Lower Self awaits my coming
At this point in the Mantram, let me review what you have done.
“I am the Soul” — You have identified with your Soul using the power of identification, and you have affirmed that identification.
“And also Love I am” — As you have continued with the power of identification and affirmation you have added the power of invocation, which adds power of clarification.
“Above all else, I am Will and clear design” — You have now invoked the will, not only identifying with it as you invoke it, but also affirming it and defining it.
“My Will is now to lift the lower Self into the Light Divine” — You have now directed our creative intelligence by your Will and further affirmed the intention of the personality to connect with your Soul not only by invocation and evocation but also by the power of clarification and description.
“That Light I am” — This statement affirms that in addition to being a personality who invokes your Will and directs your intention, you are also identified with that which is Divine, the Soul. You are both simultaneously the creator and the created.
“Therefore, I must descend to where the lower self awaits my coming.” — The “I am” of the Soul–Love, Will and Clear Design–affirms that it has heard the invitation of the personality. It has been invoked, it has been evoked, and therefore it must respond. It must make itself available to your personality. Moreover, the personality knows this and in complete confidence and assurance, simply waits.
Now, having reached the point of the fusion, the Soul energy circulates from the place of the Soul (often visualized as a point of Light about three feet above the head, because the Soul is most often perceived as residing in the upper reaches of the higher mind in your etheric body.)
The Soul energy descends along with the gentle circulating breath, down into the head, down all of the chakras (nested as centers in the etheric body about two inches outside of your dense physical body.) You have invited it, you have affirmed it, you have invoked it, you have evoked it, and the Soul has responded.
You can now enjoy this descent and circulation of energy for as long as you wish.
You may, in this interval, receive clarity about the nature of your Soul. You may experience the profound Love, Joy, and Acceptance that are the nature of the Soul.
You may recognize this consciously, or you may just feel a gentle circulation of energy that is completely beyond thought. It is a state of being. It does not matter how or if you experience anything here. You know what you have done. You have identified with your Soul.
You have specifically identified with the Love nature of your Soul, the Will nature of your Soul and the Creative Intelligence nature of your Soul; and you have invited them into the integrated wholeness of your personality: your etheric body, your physical body, your emotional body, your mental body, and you have circulated it through all of your chakras energy centers of your being through your breath.
Now, when you feel ready, the Mantram continues with an invocation that affirms what you have done.
That which intends to lift and that which invokes the lifting
are now at One
“That which intends to lift” is the Soul, and “that which invokes the lifting” is the personality. Again, the clarification of identification, the intention of invitation, and the power of invocation and evocation, have achieved their purpose in a statement of Will.
Such is my Will.
This is simply the reality affirmed.
The OM, the sacred sound carries that energy out into manifestation as it is sounded.
If you incorporate this Mantram into your daily practice of meditation and then sit quietly and receptively, you will have empowered your meditation with the magic of the Light, the Love, and the wisdom of your Soul.
The healing power of the circulation of Soul Light from your Soul and through all of your chakras and all of your body as an integrating and unifying force can not be understated. This balancing and aligning of your physical body with your emotional body and your mind and personality with your Soul opens you up to the wholeness and integration of your being in a way that is exciting as it is igniting the Divine Spark in you. Ponder on this.
Bringing the Light of your Soul into your conscious awareness is the most empowering and transforming benefit of meditation you can receive. Therefore, I suggest that you use it daily, and you can certainly use it more than once a day if so inclined.
This blending of Soul Light to integrate the Soul with the personality is a tool of great value. Using the magic of this ancient Mantram in your meditation will empower you in amazing ways.
