As I was looking at the sales numbers for a variety of affirmations and meditations that I have put out in the world to help people I was astonished by an observation that started me thinking about both the art and the science of blessing.

When I saw that one of the most popular individual downloads from my two affirmation collections was the track labeled “thank you blessing” I was amazed.

What amazed me the most is how hungry people are to have the energy of the Divine affirmed and expressed in their life.

In the past hundred years or so, as the world has become more and more secular, the concept of blessing has fallen by the wayside. Little traditions and rituals of incorporating God into our lives are no longer woven into the daily fabric of life. Subtle conventions of speech and thoughts have changed. This may seem insignificant unless we consider this from the perspective of the principle that “energy follows thought.” The change in popular thought about the subject and meaning of blessing has had an unintended consequence on our society and our world of disconnecting us from our experience of the Divine.

By changing our thinking and simple changes in our patterns of speech we can begin to restore the peace and serenity that blessing extends because the principle that energy follows thought is a real and underlying truth in the world. We can individually return to the concept of blessing one another and invite blessing back into our human experience by extending blessings to one another.

Let us consider some of the ways that humankind has engaged in blessing throughout time. In much of the world, particularly India and Asia, blessing was extended as people greeted one another with “Namaste”. The meaning of this Sanskrit word used to greet and acknowledge another is “The Divine spark in me recognizes and honors the Divine spark in you.”

I honor the place in you where Spirit lives
I honor the place in you which is
of Love, of Truth, of Light, of Peace,
when you are in that place in you,
and I am in that place in me,
then we are One.

The powerful and wonderful part of this blessing, when used as a greeting from the perspective of the principle of energy following thought, is that in using this blessing you must first make a connection with your own Divine spark, your Higher Self or Soul. By affirming the truth that you are first affirming your alignment with the Divine, then recognizing and honoring or supporting that consciousness in the other. It is interesting to observe that the tradition extends to bringing your hands together and executing a slight bow as a physical expression of the blessing. The small bow remains in the interactions of most of the Asian cultures still today.

It is also interesting to note that in the cultures who have maintained these rituals the society is, in general, a little more respectful and mutually supportive than western societies where the thoughts and art of blessing have been left behind as archaic. As honoring and acknowledging God as a source and strength in our world, the benefits of blessing have waned and left us with a world where values such as truth and honor have become old-fashioned and are no longer pursued.

These subtle shifts in the consciousness of individuals and the consciousness of society has created an atmosphere of selfishness and self-involvement that are having a profound effect on the world. It is certainly easier to be greedy, depriving others of dignity if you do not consciously value them. It is certainly harder when, even on a very subtle level even with a habitual speech pattern, you honor them and acknowledge them as a part of the Divine, and identify yourself as such.

Consider that by not blessing and honoring another you may be in some way impacted. These subtle shifts we have seen in our society away from charity to greed, from honor to corruption may take root in our failure to honor and bless one another.

If we look at the residuals of traditional speech patterns we will see that blessing was once built in. From the simple tradition of saying “Bless you” when someone sneezes to the once very prevalent phrase of the American South “Bless his or her heart”, it is clear to see that the concept of blessing one another was woven into the fabric of right speech and right human relations, both values that have diminished as the traditions of blessing have been diminished in our society.

On a very subtle level, just the simple act of saying “God Bless You” when someone sneezes is an affirmation and statement of faith that God has power over evil. This is because this tradition emerged from the old belief that when someone sneezes they lose consciousness for a brief span of time and it was believed that in that loss of conscious thought evil could enter them while they were unconscious or unaware. Therefore invoking the blessing of God was a way to dispel evil to return the individual to control.

Likewise the traditional phrase of the American South of “Bless his heart” activated compassion for the individual and again very subtly acknowledged the power of God in right human relations. As the words are said, thoughts are engendered, again because of the principle that “energy follows thought.”

In most of Asia, the residual tradition of the slight bow, left over from the Namaste Blessing, shows respect and honor. It is certainly much harder to cheat, demean or ignore the principles of right human relationships when you are even on a ritualized basis acknowledging their humanity and equality with you, and you are affirming their unity with the Divine.

The greed and the selfishness that have become such a profound problem in the global society in which we live, feed upon this illusion of separation that the loss of blessing has engendered in the world. Certainly, it is much easier to cheat someone, take advantage of someone or in some way misuse someone if you see them as separate from you.

I am sure Jesus was aware of this when he issued the guidance for right action with the phrase “yeah though you have done it unto the least of my brethren, you have done it unto me.”

As I write these words and consider more and more the importance and value of our blessing one another I am grateful that my exercise of accessing the popularity of my closing blessing has clarified for me the importance of building back into our life the art of blessing. Therefore, I would like to recommend that each and every one of us consider a way we could create the power of blessing into our lives.

As William Shakespeare wrote in The Merchant of Venice, “it blesses him that gives and him that takes”, it is impossible to bless someone without also receiving a blessing yourself. As I wrote in one of my most popular affirmations in my affirmation CD ‘Soaring to Success’ “As I help others I help myself.” This is especially true when giving a blessing.

For me, I will practice what I am preaching (so to speak) or walk my talk as the expression goes, by continuing to add to the conclusion of each offering I put out in the world my blessing, which comes sincerely from my heart as I conclude with Namaste, The Blessing of Love on all that you do.

Perhaps the simple act of adding Namaste to your greetings to others, friends, family or associates will help to return the art of blessing to the world. That energy follows thought is a firm and irrevocable principle of universal laws so even if you do not say anything, but think when you greet someone “the Divinity in me recognizes and honors the Divinity in you”, you are affirming your own role of co-creator in your life and also affirming their alignment and empowerment with the Divine.

In doing this, in your thoughts and in your heart, you are strengthening your own connection with the Divine, and the connection with your Soul or Higher Self. Blessing is a powerful act that needs to be returned to our traditions and our interactions with one another. By adding the art of blessing to your relationships you are making a decision to consciously enter into right speech and right human relations.

This is a powerful choice that can have far-reaching benefits, both to you and to the world around you. Therefore I enjoin you to bless one another as an act of love, honor, and respect, full knowing that the energy that goes out into the world with each and every blessing you give helps to make the world a better place.

I invite you and encourage you to be a source of blessing in the world by extending thoughts of blessing to others as you move through your life. When you see someone in need, bless them. When you observe someone who is upset or sorrowful, bless them. Practice blessing others in little ways throughout the day. By doing this you will invite blessing into your own life and become a subtle force for good in the word.

Experience A Perfect Moment In Time by GG

Have you ever experienced a perfect moment in time?

In a perfect moment you are released from fear with the full faith and confidence that you are OK exactly as you are.

You are freed from worrying, striving and stress, relaxing into what is and not trying to control life but letting life just unfold before you.

In a perfect moment, time seems to stand still. It is a moment when your heart is filled with feelings of love and your consciousness seems to expand to include a sense of Oneness with all of creation, with all of life. It is a moment of utter peace and complete joy.

Within a perfect moment are so many life lessons we can embrace and use to empower us when perfection seems out of our reach. In our experience of a perfect moment is a mind that is calm, not trying to do anything, not trying to change anything, but accepting with gratitude and appreciation what is available right here and right now.

In a perfect moment you are just being, and being is just perfect. If we ponder what is special and unique about that perfect moment we realize that it is free from the recriminations and judgments with which we so often burden our life. The flow of judgments in the form of “I should have, I could have, I ought to” as a part of our self-talk and mind chatter are ways we can deprive ourselves of joy. They are habits of thought that are a toxic poison. These self-judging thoughts take us out of the present into a consciousness of what never has been and never will be and is NOT real.

This illusionary standard of “could have”, “should have”, “ought to” holds us up to an imaginary standard of life and by so doing deprives us of the spontaneous joy and appreciation that is available to us when we let ourselves receive it instead of “shoulding” on ourselves.

We can free ourselves from this habit of killing our joy by becoming conscious of our thoughts and by making a conscious decision to focus our thoughts on editing and eliminating the often negative habitual thoughts that start with those illusionary phrases.

This technique of thought monitoring and thought editing is very powerful and can be life changing and life empowering. It is a way of harnessing the amazing power of our mind to bring into manifestation what we desire and claiming our role as a co-creator in our life. It is a way to become the director of your life rather than only an actor.

Whereas, statements such as “I should have” or “I could have” are dis-empowering and illusionary, statements in our self-talk of “I can” or “I will” are very empowering and start an automatic chain reaction to bring the plan into being.

Training your mind to empower your life requires your conscious intention to use the power of your mind for good in your life instead of letting your thoughts harm you by self-defeating, judgmental self-talk. Just this simple shift in your thought patterns and thought habits will create a very profound difference in your life. A difference you can feel and see quickly.

Observing your thought, just monitoring and accessing the content of your thoughts is a good place to begin. When you do this you might be surprised at how much of your “mind chatter” is filled with these toxic patterns. When you have observed the frequency of these damaging illusionary phrases, take a moment to consider how these thoughts make you feel. For most of us, it is tense, anxious and disheartened.

Then, as an experiment take just 1 minute and observe your thoughts and each time you catch yourself thinking the “coulda, shoulda” thoughts, consciously with intention, replace those thoughts with “I can and I will” thoughts.

Now how do you feel; excited, hopeful, powerful?

Thoughts have power. That truth can be used either for you or against you.

You can, by harnessing the power of your thoughts, unlock a powerful tool that both enhances your success and increases your joy. Since most of us do very little to consciously control our thoughts that power is left underutilized. By bringing your thoughts into consciousness and by choosing what you think, you are making a shift that will change your life in so many ways.

To take the reins of your mind and use its vast power in your life to create the life that you desire is the first step on a journey to success and joy. This you can realize, this you can do when you consider what you can learn when you have “a perfect moment in time”.

I invite you and encourage you to harness the amazing power of your mind and your thoughts to bring to you the life transformation that you desire.

If Not Now… When?

Its time to forgive colorful vortex

Have you ever found yourself saying “if not now, when?

Recently, I was speaking with a young woman who was caught up in the turmoil and tribulations of a divorce.

Her 10-year marriage was ending. Her older but wiser Self was realizing that she and her husband had let passion and love thrust them into marriage while they did not take the time and care to find out what was important to them in life and so, now that their relationship needed firmer ground to work through conflict, they were on a slippery slope of anger, blame and recriminations.

She described the little and big hurts and betrayals that had brought her to the realization that she had nothing more to give in this relationship. Even as they were trapped in the pain and disappointment that ending the marriage engendered, so more importantly she was trapped in the past, unable to look at what was happening in her life today, because she was viewing it through the memories and events of the past ten years.

She realized that she had made a number of mistakes over the past ten years. She was both angry at her husband and angry at herself.

As we spoke, I observed that she needed to forgive herself for her past mistakes. Interestingly, she felt that she had to wait to forgive. She thought she could forgive, both herself and him, later. She had constructed a list of events that she needed to check off her list before she felt ready to address the issue of forgiveness.

Although, this construction of what must happen before we forgive (ourselves or others) is very common, I found myself wondering and questioning if not now, when is the time to forgive?

If Not Now... When, time

 

I know, as one who teaches about and preaches about the importance of forgiveness, that the one who benefits the most is the forgiver, not the forgiven.

By forgiveness, both of yourself and others you are freeing yourself and releasing the past, opening your life to all of the potential and joy that you can embrace once you have shed the burden of old sorrows and circumstances.

 

Right now, mired in the past hurts and resentments, one’s vision is limited to seeing through a pinhole the light and potential that is available. This self-limiting constraint is all too common in life decisions. The freedom that forgiveness offers is a gift that is available whenever we finally choose to accept and embrace it, today or tomorrow.

One essential key to facilitating the transformation of family gatherings is forgiveness, and the other is love. Although there is a great deal that can be said (read my other forgiveness posts) in these two areas instead of thinking and theorizing on these. I suggest a dynamic experiment that you can do. It requires no agreement or participation from anyone else. It is very simple and yet both powerful and empowering. No one needs to know you are doing this.

Forgiveness Exercise

This exercise incorporates the very powerful forces of Love, Forgiveness, and Gratitude.

They involve saying in your mind specific repetitive phrases when observing the behaviors of those around you. You can shift freely and fluidly between these phrases. You can choose them at will.

For as much of the time you are with your family as you find possible (or someone you need to forgive), repeat these phrases in your mind. You may find your own variations and expressions of the phrases.

Keep repeating the phrases no matter what is happening or what anyone is doing. Beyond using the power of your mind, there is nothing you need to do or say. There is no reason to explain or belabor this, just repeat these phrases in your mind and heart.

The Forgiveness Phrases:

    Please forgive me
    Thank you
    I love you
    I forgive you
    I forgive myself

You may find other similar thoughts flow through your mind. You may find yourself lured by specifics. Let yourself be freed from your entire past “story” and return to repeating these simple phrases in your mind. The past is over. The future is unwritten.

At this moment, right now, just repeat these simple phrases.

 

Please note: The phrases included here are a minor modification of the teachings of Hoʻoponopono [ho-o-pono-pono] (an ancient Hawaiian practice of reconciliation and forgiveness.) You can find more about this in a book by Dr. Joe Vitale and Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len, titled “Zero Limits”.

 

If you, like my young friend, acknowledge that ultimately forgiving the past and both yourself and your spouse are important life tasks, and that deep within, you understand are elements of growing past your present pain and sorrow, I must ask “Why suffer any longer?

Forgiveness is powerful and the results are immediate. Forgiveness is the portal to the present and all of the opportunities life is offering.

If, having forgiven an event or circumstance of the past, sometimes you may become aware that there were dynamics and forces in play of which you were not previously aware and while embracing and benefiting from this insight you can forgive again, releasing and freeing yourself.

Each time you forgive, each subtle nuance of understanding that you unlock can add to the compassion that you bestow on yourself or the other. You do not need to wait until you understand to forgive. Forgiveness itself unlocks the layers of shame and sorrow that hold old hurts in place.

You can unlock the doors to forgiveness by the simple thoughts “I Forgive You or I forgive myself”. The thought can be event-specific or general and amorphous and the amazing thing is it begins to unravel the past. Prayers, meditations or specific visualizations such as the one I recently created called “How to Forgive Yourselfare all helpful and beneficial, but most important is the decision to forgive, NOW.

There is no need to carry the past or let it diminish the present. The dynamic principle that energy follows thought can be activated in you and for you, right here, right now.

Connecting to the Soul is the most profound and transformative part of the meditative experience.

It is through the connection of the personality, the lower self, to the energy of the Soul, the Higher Self, that we are able to experience that within us which is eternal.

It is our Soul that contains the Divine spark. By connecting to our Soul we are granted a glimpse into an awareness of our oneness with all of creation. It is through our Soul that we are receptive to the Divine.

Through the practice of meditation, when the mind is quieted and the emotions are calmed the Soul shines forth in all of its glory.”

It is through the connection to the Soul that we are granted the insight into the moment that brings relief and release from life’s burdens.

Through meditation, as we connect to the Soul we are bringing ourselves into union with our Higher Self that we may experience wholeness. This unified self opens more and more to the Light, like the petals of a lotus allowing more and more awareness to flow into our life. The union with the Soul gives us an awareness of the Self that is greater and wiser than we are able to experience when focused upon our personality and personal needs and desires.

By meditating regularly to come into union with the Soul we find our perspective changing. We begin to see alternative interpretations of the events of our life. This begins slowly, and initially can only be experienced in the meditative state, but in a regular relationship with the Soul the awareness of those brief moments of connection to the Divine begins to expand and give us new insights and understandings throughout the day.

Through the process of systematically learning to quiet the mind and calm the emotions you change your life by reducing stress. Confidence in your ability to be in control of your body, mind and emotions translates into confidence to be in more control of your life.

Each time you make the conscious decision to meditate you are creating the opportunity for your lower self to gain a greater understanding of life. Just the process of quieting the mind and calming the emotions is its own reward.

When you add the connection to the Soul, the experience of meditation can expand into a receptivity that increases your understanding of your self and your life. The more regularly the connection with the Soul is experienced, the more the insights and wisdom of the Higher Self become available to you. The sense of being centered and the sense of calm confidence make their way into your daily life.

As you build and reinforce the pathway of connection to the Soul it becomes increasingly easy to touch the Light of the Soul as you go through your daily life. This touch of Soul contact helps you gain a different understanding and more profound awareness. Over time, as the connection is reinforced and strengthened you find that your life is freed more and more from the lure of negative emotions, and the experience of peace and joy will pervade your being.

As the Year Turns

New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day are fertile times for reflecting upon your life.

As you do so it seems that there are several powerful ways that you can welcome in 2021 and empower yourself to manifest in the New Year more success, more joy, and ultimately greater happiness.

Perhaps the most powerful and important thing you can do as this passage of time is marked is to bring your consciousness and awareness into the present time, into NOW. This shift to the NOW involves several simple understandings of what is always true but may not be the focus of your thoughts and attention.

Therefore, I encourage you to consider deeply the fact that the past is over!

Seize the Opportunity That Today Offers You

With the strike of the midnight hour you are freed from last year. You are now invited to the unlimited possibility and potential of a new year. The future, brimming with promise is before you and you hold within the creative power of your mind and your life the ability to bring to fruition all of your dreams, all of your desires, your reason for living.

To enhance and best activate this powerful moment where you rest on the threshold of a new year which can be a whole new life, I encourage you to take a few minutes of time to forgive yourself. Since the past is over, nothing is gained by carrying the past forward in the no-win dynamic of self-blame and recrimination. So I urge you to use this transition from the past into the future to really forgive yourself.

Seize the opportunity that today offers you to invoke, affirm and dream. Your destiny is calling to you. Open your heart mind and Soul, to hear that call. As you release the past to its proper role in your life and forgive yourself, you can further free yourself to be fully open to receive what tomorrow has to offer by forgiving any who have ever caused you harm, intentionally or unintentionally.

What is it that makes the difference and more importantly what can we do to make our experiences of family gatherings fun, joyful and a supportive experience?

For some people being together as a family is the joyous, celebratory part of a holiday. For others the events of holiday gatherings are stressful and challenging.

I am reminded of a story my sister-in-law told me several years ago. She was working in retail when a customer asked her what her plans for the holiday were, and she responded by saying the whole family was gathering at her sister-in-law’s home. Her customer began to offer her sympathy, and when she said how much she was looking forward to it, her customer was shocked. My sister-in-law commented that in her family were people she considered her dearest friends. Her customer was surprised and then went on to express the dread of being with her own family.

At the time I remember us being grateful that we had the family we did and the relationship of being both friends and family, not only in loving one another but also in the support and encouragement we shared not only with one another but within the family structure. Today I considered what makes the difference in these two very different experiences of families gathering for the holidays. It seems that these diverse experiences of family life and family gatherings are common. What is it that makes the difference and, more importantly, what can we do to make our experiences of family gatherings fun, joyful and a supportive experience?

When we look at the structure of the family two vital factors come to my mind. They are love and forgiveness. How the love is expressed or all too often not expressed is a significant part of family gatherings and whether or not we leave those events happy and fulfilled or disappointed and frustrated. By the time a family gathers together, there has been a lifetime of experiences. Expectations and what we desire and need from one another have colored our history of family gatherings and unless we consciously do something different the best predictor of what will happen is what has happened in the past.

However, we do not have to be tied to the past. We have the ability to change and transform the dynamic of these events by what we bring to the event in our thoughts and with our actions. We have the power to act rather than merely react. When we take that power, we change our experience and provide the opportunity to heal relationships in ways beyond our imaginings.

Forgiveness is the final form of love.

One essential key to facilitating transformation of family gatherings is forgiveness, and the other is love. Although there is a great deal that can be said (read my other forgiveness posts) in these two areas instead of thinking and theorizing on these. I suggest a dynamic experiment that you can do. It requires no agreement or participation from anyone else. It is very simple and yet both powerful and empowering. No one needs to know you are doing this.

To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you.

This exercise incorporates the very powerful forces of Love, Forgiveness and Gratitude. They involve saying in your mind specific repetitive phrases when observing the behaviors of those around you. You can shift freely and fluidly between these phrases. You can choose them at will. For as much of the time you are with your family as you find possible, repeat these phrases in your mind. You may find your own variations and expressions of the phrases. Keep repeating the phrases no matter what is happening or what anyone is doing. Beyond using the power of your mind, there is nothing you need to do or say. There is no reason to explain or belabor this, just repeat these phrases in your mind and heart.

The Phrases are:

    Please forgive me
    Thank you
    I love you
    I forgive you
    I forgive myself

You may find other similar thoughts flow through your mind. You may find yourself lured by specifics. Let yourself be freed from your entire past “story” and return to repeating these simple phrases in your mind. The past is over. The future is unwritten. At this moment, right now, just repeat these simple phrases.

You may observe dramatic changes in others from doing this experiment. You may only experience a change in yourself. You may not see any response or effect. That does not matter.

It is not important to explain or express anything to anyone. The transformation you are creating in this experiment happens on a subtle energetic level. Just return to repeating in your mind the phrases and carry on with what you are doing.

Please continue with this by continuing to repeat these phrases for the duration of your family gathering.

Accepting Grace and Forgiveness

The concepts of grace and forgiveness are inextricably tied together in our minds and emotions.

We know grace exists, and on some deep level of our consciousness, we know that the existence of grace has nothing to do with worthiness or deserving.

We know grace, like forgiveness, cannot be earned. We know that these experiences are available but are not really fully understood by us.

Because we have done nothing to deserve the healing power that grace and forgiveness bring into life, for many it is hard to accept.

Rejecting grace, rejecting forgiveness, and especially learning to forgive oneself are key elements in what must be transcended to permit healing. Suffering, dis-ease, keeping oneself separate from others are all manifestations of a mistaken attempt of penance, an attempt that is unnecessary.

Grace and forgiveness do not require you be worthy, they require that you are willing to accept that there is a Higher Power and a part of you that is willing to align with it. Forgiveness and grace are integral parts of Love in action.

You are not perfect, and you are not expected to be perfect. You were created to learn and grow through the adventure of life. Grace and forgiveness are available because God knows you will make mistakes. God offers these things as a demonstration of how God Loves you.

Love, which ultimately has the power to heal us and restore us, is kept away by this same sense of lack of worthiness and separation that deprives us of receiving and accepting both grace and forgiveness. Whatever mistakes one has made in life prior to this very moment in time, it pales in comparison by continuing to reject the opportunity to be forgiven, to be restored to the unity that is available.

We often, as a society and as individuals wrap ourselves in concepts of penance, suffering to the depth of our being in an attempt to earn or to deserve, that which cannot be earned or ever deserved, but is by its very nature and its essence, freely given, grace and forgiveness. This suffering is self-inflicted and completely unnecessary.

You were not created to suffer. You were created to learn and grow and expand your consciousness. You were created to enjoy the many blessings life offers you through a myriad of diverse experiences to grant you happiness and success. These are the gifts of Love. These are the expressions of grace and forgiveness that give you the freedom to have a life fully and abundantly.

Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude.

The glamour’s, the illusions, the Maya you have built to sustain the sense of separation, has trapped you in a lie. Let us for a moment consider and imagine what our life would be like, what we could accomplish if we allowed ourselves to fully accept the grace that accompanies forgiveness. Come into this moment of powerful potential by imagining that all the mistakes of your life from the past up to this moment of time were erased and totally and completely forgiven. Do you, like me feel tremendous relief and release?

In this moment, right now you can let that which is past be wiped clean. Because it is all in the past as you enter into the now, in this moment you are freed from it all; freed to be fully in this moment, freed to simply be and accept the joy and the Love that releasing your bondage to past events brings. Let the truth free you into this moment of awareness into the redemption that is here for you in the now.

To further experience and incorporate this blessing, take a moment to align your spine and visualize grace and forgiveness descending from your Soul as radiating golden-white light. Hold out your hands to fully accept and receive this blessing. As that Light descends you are renewed, you are restored. You are forgiven. All the shackles of the past dissolve into nothingness. What has been has no power over you. What will be is just emerging.

Let the illusions all fall away as you enter into this essence of Love, this essence of being. In this moment is the opportunity for truth and in that truth the freedom that is granted by grace, when you let yourself accept the forgiveness and Love that is the true and essential nature of life.

Embrace and enfold this grace and forgiveness into the very essence of your being and know that unlimited possibility and potential are available for you, NOW, and from this moment forward.

Take a moment to celebrate and enjoy the grace and forgiveness that are freely available to you. Let yourself receive the Love that is available for you. Let your heart be filled with joy. Claim that joy as your own as you let yourself receive the unlimited potential that life offers you.

From this moment of Grace and this blessing of forgiveness consider how you can share this power and this blessing with others. Love freely. Forgive easily and let your life become a demonstration of the grace which you have received.

The Omnipresent Sound of the OM

Omnipresent expression of group love and unity by all religions on our planet

A number of years ago I traveled to India.

My decision to go to India was inspired first by intermittent but persistent guidance in my meditations when I seemed to receive an injunction to go to India.

At first, I dismissed this thought as a part of my mind chatter as I entered into meditation.

After all, I rationalized, meditation is universal and not limited by the constraints of time and place. Still, that quiet voice repeated time and again the direction, Go to India.

When a spiritual friend and fellow energy healer Dr. Steve Hinkey was giving a workshop in my home, he said he was going to India and had the opportunity to meet with some of the top Mahamandaleshwar leaders in the Hindi religion and did I wish to go? A “Mahamandaleshwar” means “Superior of great and/or numerous monasteries” or “Superior of a religious district or province” (maha = great, mandala = district, ishwara = head, sovereign), they hold a position similar to a Cardinal in the Chruch. Immediately my injunction was recalled to me and I realized that this is what I had been guided to do.

When I first arrived in India, from the moment that my feet touched Indian soil, I realized that something was different.

There was an energy that I could not find the words to name, that was unique to the land of India. This subtle and profound energy had a significant impact on me and upon my meditations immediately, despite the fact that my friend Steve said the hotel I had booked for us had landed us in the middle of one of the most impoverished ghettos of Asia. Still, we were safe, and it was clean despite the material lack of the people around us.

Immediately I noticed a significant shift in the quality, depth, and tenor of my meditations. At that time, I assumed that what I was feeling was a new development in my meditative life.

After all, my logical mind contended, how could a place impact my interior spiritual meditative life?

I observed the changes and transformations in my meditations from the role of a dispassionate observer. I enjoyed the graciousness and generosity of the people of India throughout my travels. I saw as one does with travel, many beautiful and amazing things. I engaged in new experiences and new relationships, bonding deeply with many with whom I felt deep and karmic bonds of love and energetic connections of love and spiritual community.

My friend Steve and I spent a week at the ashram of Mahamandaleshwar Swami Nityananda called Shanti Mandar, providing, as our Sava (service), energetic healing for many of the Brahmin boys who were there to learn the Vedic tradition at the ashram, as well as for a variety of Australians who had come for a scheduled trip with Nityananda (a journey for spiritual awareness).

We chanted, meditated and enjoyed the energy of India, a place where the eons of spiritual striving and practice seem to have imbued the very earth itself with spiritual energy.

Throughout this time, no matter where we traveled and no matter what we did, I became aware of something I had never felt before, something I had been unable to access back in my home in America, until my experience in India.

It is that of which I write today: The Omnipresent Presence of the OM.

Beyond the Sound of the OM

According to legend, the sound of the OM is the sound created when all sounds are combined. Spiritually sounding of the OM is an often-taught tradition that crosses many lines of diverse disciplines. The OM is sounded to clear energy from one’s chakras, to send forth the energies contacted in both group and individual meditations, and to help meditators achieve various desired states of meditation.

All of this I have done and used throughout my 50-plus years of the practice of meditation, but what I am describing today is beyond that or an expansion of the regular use of the sounding of the OM.

It is an awareness of energy which can be accessed and utilized when engaging in the physical sounding of the OM, whether sounded firmly and clearly, or whispered, or sounded silent. It is the sound of the Omnipresence of the OM.

This Omnipresence of the OM embraces and includes everyone and everything as celestial music of the spheres. It resounds within the silence, the silence that is within all sound. It links us to the power of the Word and connects us with Universal Source.

This Omnipresent Presence of the OM holds within it the power to create.

It is both mystical and magical. It is both Universal and the thrumming of all of life force on earth.

When you use the sound of the OM in your meditation you are choosing to consciously open and align your life force with energies that are beyond what is physical and material, but resides in what is Spiritual, transcendent and eternal.  The OM calls that to you.

I invite you now to calm your mind, open your heart and invite the Light, to bring to you this resounding sound that connects you with your Soul, with all that you are and all you will ever be and all that you have ever been, in this sound.

Relax into it. Tune in to it. Let yourself enjoy it and receive it and stay with this experience for as long as feels right for you to do so.

Then take some time in quiet and reflection to feel what this experience brings, to become aware of the world beyond your physical hearing and enter into the joy of Oneness with the Universal Presence and pervading Love that travels on the waves of the Omnipresent OM.

It is available to you in the Eternal Now for your healing, for your joy, and for your empowerment. You are a beloved child of the Universe and this Omnipresence of the Om is your portal.

Many schools and systems of meditation use the sacred sound of the Om to ground the energies and insights that are accessed and received in meditation.

As the sound of the OM is explained as the sound created by the unity of all sound, so it is also a symbol of Unity in general.

Utilizing the sound of the OM in meditation brings your consciousness the awareness of the Oneness of all sentient consciousness. Sentient consciousness is more Universal than simply human consciousness.  Focusing on the Universal sound of the OM opens awareness and residence with a sense of connection and unity that aligns you with Light, Love, and power that resides just beyond your usual perception.

The gift of the omnipresent sound of the OM is that through the simple act of you sounding the OM, you can align your consciousness to this thrumming that lies in the heart of all sound.

How to Use the OM In Your Meditations

The OM can be used as a sounding and entry point for meditation by using it as a way to center your energies as you “Calm Your Mind, Open Your Heart and Invite the Light.”  This is the instruction and intention that I suggest that you use to open your awareness to receive the Presence of your enlightened awareness, your Higher Self, (your Soul).

To use the sacred sound of the OM as an entry point to your meditation, you simply sound it.  Many schools of meditation suggest sounding it 3 times.  Other schools of meditation suggest sounding it repeatedly until you have noticed your consciousness opening.

Whether you use it before simply sitting calmly, quietly and receptively, or choose to combine it with a guided meditation is a choice you can make.

The sound of the OM begins at your diaphragm and then let the sound rise through your whole body.  Groups who use the repetitive sound of the OM in group meditation create a sound that aligns with what is known as “the Music of the spheres.”

Some suggest that the sound of the OM is the sound of the Soul, although I experience as an underlying thrum of Creative force that brings us into alignment and awareness of the Creator, Universal Soul, and Universal Love.

The OM can also be used to ground and complete your meditation.  For many meditators, it is the final sound that acts as an Amen, or So Be It invocation to the energies that have been accessed in the meditation experience.

I suggest that you use and experiment with the Omnipresent sound of the OM with a spirit of joyful playfulness and open receptivity to your Soul.

So much of our thoughts and our behaviors are habitual that bringing our awareness to what we think, and what we feel is important.

Observing our thoughts, our feelings from an objective, dispassionate perspective is an important task. I call this role, the dispassionate observer.

From the centered place of awareness that is dispassionately observing what you are thinking, what you are feeling and how you are acting, you can become the director of your life rather than a reactive observer.

Observing with awareness, without judgment, is the first step to a level of awareness that enhances your consciousness and gives you the keys to creating the life that you desire.

Your first step is to decide that you choose to be happy. Then you can begin to build into your life what makes you happy. Happiness is something you bring to life more than something that happens to you.

How you react to what happens to you is often much more important than what actually happens to you.

In that process of reaction lays the power to choose to create your life or be a victim of your life. In that process of choice, a habit can play a vital role. Becoming aware of your thoughts and your feelings is an essential part of harnessing your power to be who you wish to be and how you wish to be perceived by others.

Biological research and biochemical research shows us that our subtle physical responses impact our body, and our mind and emotions. For example, smiling, releases the biochemical endorphins and hormones that are associated with happiness. Creating a habit of putting on a happy face and smiling begins to create the feelings of happiness.

Old songs such as, “Smile and the World Smiles with You” and the peppy tune Of “Put on a Happy Face” all provide a clue to this “Secret” of happiness that you can use for your wellbeing.

A smile, given to another is most often greeted naturally with a smile, so in this way you are sharing happiness into the world by developing your own happiness.

If you add to your quest to build happiness into a habit in your life, by being consciously aware of your unconscious negative “mind chatter” and choose to monitor and then harness the power of your mind and the power of your thoughts, you are well on your way. Again, using the technique of the dispassionate observer to acknowledge what your mind chatter is spewing out and then, make a conscious decision to edit and correct negative thinking into positive intended thinking you are well on your way to being the creator (not just observer) of your experience and building a habit of happiness.

A brief poem by an old friend of mine, Bernie Gunther says “There’s a positive side and negative side and at each moment you decide.” By deciding to be happy, to be hopeful, and to harness the power of your thoughts you have taken an important and vital step to living a happier and more joyous life.

Using your body in ways that stimulate the biochemistry to work for your conscious choice to be happy, then monitoring and controlling your thoughts to positive and hopeful messages to yourself are ways to bring into your life a mastery of your body-mind relationship that not only increases your happiness but reduces your stress.

These little techniques of the habit of happiness are powerful and life transforming. The more you use them, the easier they become and the happier you become. They are a simple yet effective way to change your life by changing your mind and your habits that use the integration of our mind, our emotions, our body and ultimately our creative higher self to transform our lives. Happiness is a state of mind, you decide.

-The difference between a feeling and a fact

Recently, in conversations that reflected emotional pain, sorrow, and confusion, I came to the realization that we often confuse our feelings with facts.

Just because you feel something, does not make it true.

A feeling only is valid as a feeling. For something to be true requires a higher standard of proof than just being felt.

Too often it seems that reality is perceived only through the lens of our feelings and evaluating the truth of a situation is ignored. To so highly weigh our emotions while ignoring the input of our minds is to place our being out of balance. This over-reliance on one part of our being is every bit as dangerous to our growth and development as it would be to ignore our feelings.

To ignore or repress what we feel through denial or inhibition stifles and restrains the free flow of energy that enables us to express and live a life of joy. Likewise to over-value and over-emphasize our feelings disrupt our ability to live in joy because a feeling is not a fact or a truth.

In order to live fully, joyfully and expressively, we must use and integrate our whole being; our body, our emotions and our mind. If we evaluate any given situation from the perspective of what I call the dispassionate observer, the Higher Self, then we are able to determine the truth of a situation. This very act of consideration of truth changes the tenor of our feelings and our thoughts to deliver the nexus of control into our mind and our ability to understand and evaluate a situation in a way that is liberating and empowering.

To be caught up in only our emotions, ignoring the blessing and benefit of our minds is to face life’s challenges deprived of the amazing tools of consciousness, awareness, and discrimination.

These are important skills to develop along the adventure of life. To grow, to mature, to develop and to become all that you can be and to manifest all that you are meant to be, you cannot leave any of the important skills of life or tools lying on the shelf, unused.

Repressing emotions leads to a great deal of dis-ease and disaster. Likewise, over-valuing and overemphasizing emotions lead to emotional pain because the validity of the truth of a situation is ignored.

You need to use all of your skills and abilities as a human being to consider and evaluate a situation, recognizing and validating the truth of a feeling, as a feeling, but then considering truth in its higher aspect of your mind and perspective to understand in a way that relieves and reduces the pain of the emotion by granting you a greater comprehension and wisdom with which to evaluate and respond to the event or circumstance that created the feeling in the first place. Ponder on this!

This willingness to consider the truth of a situation and to evaluate happenings and circumstances from the perspective, insight and wisdom of your Higher Self, by considering what situation created the feeling is a path to freedom from being tyrannized by your emotions to letting yourself have the full power and glory of your emotions, without giving control of your life to your emotions.

This calling upon the wisdom, the understanding and perspective of the Higher Self is a time-honored technique of meditation when in quiet you call upon the wholeness of your being, your mind, your emotions and ultimately your Soul to consider and evaluate, from the perspective of the dispassionate observer, the truth.

All of us can do this by sitting quietly as you calm your mind, open your heart and invite the Light, breathing deeply, entering into the peace of the moment of time, letting go of the past and coming to the reality of a situation, as you consider whether what you are feeling is indeed true, or only a feeling.

Although the feeling may be completely valid as a feeling, considering the truth of a situation, from the perspective of your mind, there is greater understanding and, the energy shifts. This is the advantage of using the objective observer and your mind and your Soul to consider the truth and validity of a feeling.

If the feeling does not stand up to evaluation, then you are freed from all of the pain that was being generated by the feeling because you know it is not true. It is only a feeling and you can move forward in your awareness reassured that you can have the unlimited expression of your emotions without letting your emotions have you or rule you.

Ponder upon this and try this as a part of your meditation experience.

Perchance to Dream

Sleep is an essential part of our human life, our human experience. We know we spend approximately one-third of our lives in sleep, and that to do so is essential to our physical, emotional and mental health. And we know that when we get a good night’s sleep we feel better; again, physically, emotionally and mentally.

Since the advent of tools that measure the subtle activity of the brain, we have learned that sleep is an active and fertile time for our consciousness. Dreams are an essential part of the sleep experience. Measurements of time in dreams through the tracking of REM (rapid eye movement) cycles helps scientists and doctors track and examine when in the sleep cycle we dream. And, psychologists will attest to the importance of dreams in the process of communicating to the conscious mind, often in a symbolic language in subtle ways that we sometimes can understand and sometimes find confusing. Indeed there are psychologists who devote the main focus of their practice to interpreting dreams.

Even among those therapists who do not focus their practice on dreams, most psychotherapists would agree that the process of dreaming is important and through the experience of dreams people are put in touch with a part of their consciousness that Carl Jung called supra-personal consciousness. Realizing this, understanding this fact of the dreaming experience, leads us to examine both sleep and dreams from the perspective of consciousness.

Here, in the realm of consciousness, no machines, no matter how scientific or advanced can answer our inquiries. How we dream, and why we dream what we dream, are mysteries. At times our dreams may be a jumbled reflection of a book we were reading before sleep, or a movie or television program we saw, or a conversation we had in the course of our day. I even recall dreams of solitaire- layouts on a night when obviously too much of my day had been spent playing computer games. At other times our dreams present deep insights, revealing greater understanding and wisdom about our life.

Dreams and their symbols remain in the realm of our consciousness, and therefore to my way of thinking, are spiritual, by which I mean pertaining to the spirit or soul contact. – Genevieve Gerard

Old biblical stories resound with prophets or characters being directed in dreams. Recall the story of Jacob who dreamed of an angel telling him to return from where he was staying, to his family’s land. (Genesis 31: 13) “ Likewise Pilate’s’ wife was reported to have been warned in a dream that he should have nothing to do with Jesus, “that just man.” (Matthew 27: 19) Recall that the Wise Men who traveled to the manger, following a star, were told in a dream to return home by a different route when leaving Jerusalem, after they had found the baby Jesus. (Matthew 2: 12)

So throughout over 4,000 years of spiritual stories, the importance of dreams have been considered and recorded. Dreams have been a part of the human experience and our human expression both spiritually and psychologically, as reflected in the words of Shakespeare as Hamlet records in his famous soliloquy of “To be or not to be,” in which he extols the blessings of sleep but fears dreams when he notes “to dream, ah there’s the rub.” So the importance of our dreams has long been known to humanity.

Unfortunately our science, our pursuit of medicine and instant solutions for life problems, have resulted in a in a disruption of our dreams. Those who use sleeping medication on a regular basis are said to dream less. Sleeping medication represses the REM cycle. Those who become habitual users of these medications are removed from both the blessing and the curse of this natural and essential human experience. This is the most unfortunate result of using medication to sleep.

In the years since I first released my “Sleep in Heavenly Peace” visualization, the only people who have told me they tried to use the visualization but it didn’t help them sleep, were those who were the habitual users of sleep medications, and unfortunately that is a large part of our population. So as I examine the experience of sleeping and dreaming from the perspective of consciousness I wish to encourage the use of meditative and relaxing techniques as solutions to sleep problems. These natural solutions leave the portal to dreams open for the insights and awareness that dreams may bring. To disrupt this natural part of our consciousness’s ability to communicate through the sleep experience seems unwise.

Fear is perhaps the most limiting and damaging factor in preventing the fulfillment of our Soul’s purpose in life and preventing us from enjoying and experiencing the joy that is our birthright of human experience.

Because fear is a destroyer, damaging the full expression of life and joy wherever it raises its ugliness, it is important that we learn to transcend the limitations that fear imposes on our life experiences.

Fear interferes with us manifesting our true purpose in life, our call to service in life, and the creative expression that our life would be and could be if we conquer and dispel fear.

Our mind chatter, what the ancients called the Chitta of the mind, is a constant dispenser of negativity and limitation that goes on in the back of the mind, droning negativity and disempowerment through the imaginings of our fears.

To overcome the mind chatter and the feelings of fear may seem simple for some, but it’s not easy.

Learning To Dispel Fear

Learning to dispel and release fear through the application of Soul Light is one of the most powerful and life-transforming benefits of meditation.

Learning to transcend the limitations of fear and to respond to the possibilities and potentialities of life– to bring forth into the Light, the Love that underlies the happenings of the times–can be a major accomplishment of a lifetime.

Learning the lessons of love and learning to demonstrate those lessons can occupy our consciousness through many lifetimes as we explore our multifaceted roles in life as co-creators with the Divine.

Imagine if you will for just a moment, the amazing reservoir of energy that would be freed for your creative use in life if you could free yourself of the debilitation, exhaustion, and conflict that is currently using your energy. Consider the limitations on your energy, the possible negative consequences of every thought, and every action, that fear engenders in you.

Imagine, the dreams you would dare to dream and the potential you would dare to manifest if you could quiet the harassing voice of your fears in your mind. The amazing thing is that you can, through the practice of meditation, learn to quiet the destructive chatter of fear and free yourself to manifest your potential and your purpose in life.

Much like the training of the physical body by an athlete, you can, through the practice and art of meditation, learn to train your mind and emotions to focus upon what is possible, what you can manifest, what you can bring into being.

There are in the annals of the practice of meditation a myriad of techniques you can employ to learn to harness what the ancients often referred to as the monkey mind and learn to quiet your fears.

Using Affirmations To Dispel Limitations & Fears

One of the simplest meditative techniques is the use of affirmations.

By affirming a statement, you employ simultaneously several important spiritual truths and universal principles. The first of these is the power of intention and the power of invocation.

Affirmations can be a first line of defense in learning to dispel the limitations and damage of your fears. By harnessing the positive creative power of your mind, you take the reins to direct your life.

Affirmations, when said with the coordinated determination of incorporating your Soul purpose and fulfilling your life purpose have a dynamic force. By use of a positive affirmation in your mental discipline you engage a mysterious powerful force in the principle that energy follows thought. This simple technique works energetically to bring into physical manifestation and experiential reality, that which you affirm.

A powerful way to use affirmations is to let them play in the background, then focus on them when one that makes you feel joy or resonates to you, strengthening the affirmation by adding your will and intention.

Another powerful way to use affirmations is to say them to yourself while looking in a mirror. This helps you align with the words and envision them as real for you and part of your life.

Affirmations activate the powerful universal principle that “energy follows thought.” When you use an affirmation realize that you are empowering your Soul to manifest what you envision in your life.

The seventy-ninth session of the United Nations General Assembly has officially declared December 21st as “World Meditation Day” (document A/79/L.27), and invited all Member States, the United Nations system and civil society to observe it.

In short, to enhance awareness of meditation and its benefits, emphasizing the universal right to the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health.

This achievement brings immense pride to all meditators worldwide.

Specifically, The General Assembly,

Recalling the right of everyone to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health,

Reaffirming its resolution 70/1 of 25 September 2015, entitled “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”, especially target 3.4 on promoting mental health and well-being,

Recalling its resolutions 68/98 of 11 December 2013 on global health and foreign policy and 77/300 of 26 June 2023 on mental health and psychosocial support,

Recalling also its resolutions 53/199 of 15 December 1998 and 61/185 of 20 December 2006 on the proclamation of international years and Economic and Social Council resolution 1980/67 of 25 July 1980 on international years and anniversaries,

Recalling further its resolution 69/131 of 11 December 2014 on the International Day of Yoga, and acknowledging the link between yoga and meditation as complementary approaches to health and well-being,

Reaffirming rule 62 of its rules of procedure on the invitation to silent prayer or

meditation,

Affirming the importance, as a place for prayer and meditation, of the meditation room at United Nations Headquarters in New York,

Acknowledging the universality of meditation, practiced in all regions of the world,

Recognizing that meditation can contribute to health and well-being

Recognizing also that the wider dissemination of information about the benefits of meditation would be beneficial for the health and well-being of people around the world,

  1. Decides to proclaim 21 December as World Meditation Day;
  2. Invites all Member and observer States, the organizations of the United

Nations system and other international and regional organizations, as well as civil society, including non-governmental organizations and individuals, to observe World Meditation Day, in an appropriate manner, in order to raise awareness of the benefits of meditation;

  1. Stresses that the cost of all activities that may arise from the implementation of the present resolution should be met from voluntary contributions;
  2. Requests the Secretary-General to bring the present resolution to the attention of all Member and observer States, the organizations of the United Nations system and other relevant stakeholders for appropriate observance.

Meditation: A Pathway to Global Harmony and Unity

Meditation holds a prominent role at the United Nations, showcased by the Meditation Room at UN Headquarters in New York.

Established in 1952 under the leadership of Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjöld, this “room of quiet” signifies the importance of silence and introspection in fostering global harmony.

Hammarskjöld articulated the necessity of a space dedicated to both outer silence and inner stillness within a place focused on peace and debate.

In the face of global challenges like armed conflicts, climate change, and the rapid pace of technological change, meditation emerges as a potent tool for cultivating peace, unity, and compassion.

World Meditation Day highlights the critical need for nurturing human consciousness to address these challenges and create harmony within ourselves and our communities. By fostering inner peace through meditation, individuals play a crucial role in building a more resilient and sustainable world for current and future generations.

Promoting Health and Well-Being

Meditation is gaining recognition for its positive impact on mental health, an essential human right, and its support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development places health and well-being at the heart of sustainable progress. Goal 3, “Good Health and Well-Being,” focuses on ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being across all age groups, tackling challenges such as maternal and child health, communicable and non-communicable diseases, and access to essential medicines and vaccines.

This goal underscores the significance of mental health, universal health coverage, and the reduction of health disparities to foster resilient and inclusive societies.

A Meditative Vision to Usher in the New Age

Here, Now, at this moment of time this exists within, cloaked and encased in the poignant power of this moment of time, in the space of the Eternal Now, the opportunity to be free, be released, to be healed and restored.

Gather As Souls in the Hall of Records

Visualize yourself entering into the Hall of Records.

Into this sacred place you are invited today.

Here we gather as Souls, as our consciousness only, we are free from the trappings of our bodies.

We are aware, without the burdens of our physical desires in the radiant pure blue Light of the Soul, of our eternal and essential Self.

This holy place is only accessible in the Eternal NOW. It is open to you through your meditation for your healing, for your empowerment to provide the perspective of enlightenment, to grant you greater clarity and freedom.

Here, in this radiant room of white alabaster, as far as the eye can see are sections of shelves overflowing with golden scrolls, here is the recorded history of your progression through lives and your progression through the annals of time.

Here reside the lessons your Soul has learned in the adventure we call life.  Here all of your glories are recorded, all your failures are accessed, all your challenges recalled.

As you prepare to enter here you are met at the door by three angels, the first of which presents you with a gossamer robe of resounding light.

Your Angel of the Presence, blazing forth in resplendent Light and Glory, places a golden crown upon your head.

The Angel on the Threshold places a (rod) (staff) in your prepared and waiting hands.

Your Guardian Angel places a golden chain around your neck that has a diamond resplendent with rainbow light as unlimited prisms of color sparkle forth lighting the hall before you.

That Diamond Light connects your heart to the heart of the Christ and radiates in the Light Supernal the essence of pure love.  This love lights the room in ever-changing prisms of loving light.

You have come here today to do great work, great service.  From this task, you shall not waver.  From this task, you shall not shirk.

Behind you are all of your brethren.  Their strength supports you as your strength supports them.

Great work stands before you in the hall of records.  A service that will free your fellow man.  A work that will serve the transforming power of love.  A service that will heal and release bindings that have subverted and sabotaged the best efforts of man, lifetime after lifetime.

Now is the hour of release.  Now is the time of transformation.  The key to freedom has been given to you and to all who enter herein with a clarity of purpose and intention.

The tasks before you are not small.  The task before you may not be easy.  The task before you is absolutely and completely essential to ushering in the new age in a way that can bring real and lasting change.

So important is this work that all of the hierarchy, masters, and initiates are here to join this work and do their part, encompassing all of their lives throughout the span of time.

So important is this work that the Souls of all those dedicated servants of mankind called the New Group of World Servers are gathered to both aid the work and receive the blessing and transformation it will bring.

This is a moment in time for which mankind has waited for over 26,000 years.  This is a release that will heal our hearts, our minds, and our Souls from sorrows and pains that we did not even know we carried.

Here, in the Hall of Records, with the aggregate of all of our lives since the earth was formed we are charged to completely, now and forever, wield the power of forgiveness.

As we look upon the recorded history of our journey through time we are charged to forgive, now and forever, any and all slights and wrongs, no matter how large, no matter how small.  We forgive every betrayal, every selfish or self-serving act that ever caused us to hurt or harm.

We release now and forever any vows of vengeance or retribution, releasing us and the other from the karmic bonds that have limited us.

No sin is too great or too small.  It is all offered up.  It is all forgiven.  It is all released through an act of grace by the Lords of Karma.

Winter Solstice Forgiveness

Freedom from the limitations of the past is opened, here and now, through this unprecedented flow of forgiveness.  You must give the forgiveness to receive forgiveness.

This is the opportunity to wipe your slate clean and to wipe clean the slate of all your brethren through their parade of roles and relationships in your lives.

Now and forever you may be free of all that has come before by this awe-inspiring act of forgiveness, this profound, powerful, and poignant moment in the annals of life and the annals of time.

Embrace this power of forgiveness; free yourself from the karmic ravages of the past in time.  Release yourself and release all who have ever walked through any of your lives, completely, now and forever, throughout time, beyond time, freed from time.

Forgiveness is the portal to your complete freedom to be and become all you were created to be.  This gift is yours and available to all of your brethren who gather in this hall today.

Now is the moment, the moment is eternal, the release is complete, the healing is complete.  The miracle of forgiveness opens to freedom.  Love is fully served and love prevails beyond our imagining.

Something magical and miraculous is happening here on planet earth. It happens at the winter solstice as we move out of the challenging recent years, we move beyond the sacrifice and sorrows of a worldwide killings that has cost the world so many as we enter a new time of hope and healing. As we transition from the darkness into the Light comes an opportunity to practice the pillars of virtue, harmlessness, kindness, compassion, and right speech.

As we celebrate the Solstice it is time to celebrate and embrace the transforming power of Love that is flooding to Earth from the Heavens. As we enter the New Year of 2025 the Angels are aligning with the ashram of Christ to help humanity make the next step forward in learning to Love.

Love is the answer to a myriad of life’s problems. The power of Love is transformation. It is available without limitation freely to all simply by opening your heart and inviting it in.

Within you is your Soul, whose nature is Love. As you open your heart, calls to like and Love flows freely to you from the unlimited Source of Love to infuse you and transform you. The stars and planets are aligning across the Universe to ignite and empower the consciousness of humanity with enlightened awareness as the veils of illusion shred.

Truth and clarity reveal the strength of unity and brotherhood/sisterhood among the human family of the world. Resources of revelation guide restoration and redemption. The gifts of this Solstice of 2024 are available to heal the world after the death and devastation of a worldwide pandemic and offer hope and the promise of new solutions and new opportunities.

As always in the human adventure there is free will and free choice. I call upon you to choose Love, to choose kindness, to choose compassion, and to choose harmlessness. After a year of disagreement and division, it is time to practice forgiveness. It is time to find what strengthens and unites us. It is time to practice the commandment of Christ to Love One Another.

A Winter Solstice Ritual for Forgiveness

This is to help you take full advantage of this event of forgiveness.

From the sacred place within the hall of records, take your stand.

Declare from the point of focus of your Soul to forgive all others who have ever, in any time, in any life, caused you harm, created sorrow or suffering in your life, wronged you in any way.

Let yourself release the pains of attachment. Let the Light of Love enlighten you and free you as being in the eternal NOW loosens and releases you as you stand forth in the eternal glory of your eternal essence, your Soul.

As you clearly state your intention and desire to forgive, focus your heart energy in Love.  Let that love fill your heart and pervade your being.  No matter what the sorrow, no matter what the sin, love can heal it and you and all who have ever sinned against you can be released into the freedom and the joy of forgiveness.

From the center of your heart see lines of love come forth from your Soul, scanning and reviewing the aggregate golden scrolls stored in the hall of records.  Let the bond of Love connect your Soul to the Soul of the one whose life is recorded herein.  At that touch, forgiveness springs forth and Love heals and restores you and all with whom you have ever shared the bonds of love.

All sorrow melts away and the joy of unity is restored.  Karma is both transcended and released at this touch through the miraculous transformation.  This is an act of Grace over-lighted by the Lords of Karma who have gathered at this juncture of time, the transition of the ages to give the gift of release and forgiveness to all who are willing to forgive.

Freedom rings forth throughout the universe with the release that forgiveness brings.  The healing is complete and on all levels.

Your will and intention are all it takes.

With each strand of Light that flows forth from your heart and your Soul, carried on the wings of love, forgiveness heals and transforms the past, throughout the annals of time, along the scrolls of the recorded events of all your lives and the recorded lives of all who you have touched throughout time.

With the full force of your will, with the full power of your love, send forth from your Soul to the awaiting Soul of the other with the statement, I forgive you, now and forever, from the past and in the present, in this dynamic moment of the eternal now.

Within the laws of love and imbued with the grace of compassion and mercy I release you from any karmic debts owed to me.  I join this spirit of utter and complete forgiveness by asking forgiveness from you for any harm or wrongs I may have committed, knowing, or unknowing throughout our lives, no matter how large or how small.

Lastly, but as important I invoke and invite this gift of forgiveness by forgiving myself.  I have made mistakes.  I have been selfish and self-serving.  I have failed to live by the laws of love and harmlessness.  I sincerely repent of these ways and invite into my life the release of redemption and the joy of love and unity for the rest of my life.

In the downpouring love of the heart of the Christ with the outpouring cleansing and healing waters of this new Age of Aquarius I am made anew.  I assert my intention to live my life from this day forth by the laws of love, aware of harmlessness and right speech as my guiding principles.

Most of all know that I Am Love.

And thus, I stand.  Here as revealed and recorded in the sacred space of the hall of records, freed to go forth and live fully and serve fully unencumbered by the past, free to the joy and grace of the ongoing celebration of the eternal Now.

Before you leave this sacred place take a moment and pause. Give your thanks and appreciation to the Angels who keep the Hall of Records as their work and service throughout eternity in the eternal now for the granting of Grace and igniting the release of forgiveness empowered by Divine Love.

Then take some time to bask in this release today as the 2024 Winter Solstice celebrates the return of the Light after the darkest hour. Let all of your sorrows be released into the darkness as with the rising of the Light comes the reassurance that good will prevail.

Record your meditations and contemplations to help empower you and enlighten you as you prepare for a new year in the turn of life and a new decade in the wheel of time for humanity in the evolution of consciousness.

Each year we set aside Veterans Day to thank and to honor our veterans.  And as important as that is, I cannot help but take a moment to wonder and imagine what our lives could be like and would be like, if instead of each passing day adding to our population of veterans, we the people, all over the world, sued for peace and vowed to–in the words of an old American spiritual –“study war no more.”

I know this sounds both incredibly naïve, and idealistic.  Surely war has been with us since the recorded history of mankind’s walk upon planet earth.  Old Testament stories record wars fought generations before the events recorded in the New Testament even happened.

The Bhavagad Gita records the enlightenment of Arjuna on the battlefield when he realizes he can no longer war against himself.  Ironically, this realization comes in the midst of an epic battle, an epic war.

But I ask you to take a moment on this Veteran’s Day of 2021 to stop and imagine what the world could be like, what life could be like if we as the Brotherhood of man embraced peace and rejected war?  What potentials could be achieved if we in the image of lasting peace hammered our swords into plows?

Many of us may find that we cannot even imagine such a thing, but it is within the seeds of our imagination, in the heart of our deepest truths and desires that change can begin its gestation to birth.

The power of our thoughts, the power of our minds, can be unleashed through an ancient esoteric principle about which I have written repeatedly, “Energy Follows Thought”Each time we engage in the deep and powerful exercise of imagining a better world, a world where peaceful solutions replace the rush to resolve our differences by conflict, we are contributing energy to bringing that into manifestation.

A single thought about world peace seems like no more than an atom of energy in the vast universe of space; but recent discoveries in quantum physics and the noetic sciences support the idea that our consciousness is energy, and atoms are energyThese energies ripple out and affect the world around us.

 

Imagine 1 Minute

In 2012 I launched a Twitter campaign called “Imagine 1 Minute”, where those who wish to contribute their power of thought to transform the world can tune in and link up, to imagine –for 1 minute of the day– how the world can be transformed to be a better place for all of mankind.

At the time I could not think of a better day to launch such a campaign than Veteran’s Day 11-11-12, in a year when many thought the predictions of the Mayan Calendar foretold major changes to life on earth or consciousness.  That day I posted my first daily seed thought on my new “Imagine 1 Minute” twitter account @Imagine1Minute.

 

The first seed thought was:

Imagine a world without war, a world of peace.”   -Genevieve Gerard

 

If we can continue to do that today in honor of every veteran who has fought and died for their country and every family who has lost a son or daughter, or any other relative, to the ravages of war, then we will have expressed our heartfelt thanks and appreciation in an intention to send forth into the world the power to heal the wounds of war, and to promote the glimmer of the potential for peace, the potential for change.

I ask you to continue to consider what peace could mean throughout the world.  It doesn’t cost a thing.  It doesn’t harm anything.  But it is a way to say thank you to our veterans.  We thank you, and we envision a world in the future where the sacrifice you had to make will not be required of another generation.

This article is part of my ongoing series on the Soul.

Within each of us lies wisdom, an awareness of truth and more important knowledge of what direction we need to travel in our life to grow, to learn and to develop into who we truly are and what we can become, that is our Soul.

Our Soul is an integral part of our Self, but it is not usually that which most readily springs to our conscious mind when we ponder on and reflect upon ourselves. It remains the most profound and in many ways useful part of what for better words we may call our Spiritual Anatomy.

Our Spiritual Anatomy is usually not a part of our everyday consciousness because when we think of ourselves we most often think of our personality. Indeed, our personality is the vehicle that does the bulk of the “heavy lifting” as we move and function in the world of men. Indeed, our personality is usually a most significant part of our being as we live and move and have our being in any given incarnation.

When I admire the wonders of a sunset or the beauty of the moon, my soul expands in the worship of the creator.

The ancient wisdom tells us that our being is composed of a variety of vehicles that come together to form the fullness of life. These parts of ourselves are often referred to as bodies, and it is in the interplay and integration of these diverse parts of ourselves that we learn to live and express the fullness of our human nature. It is through this interplay, this integration that we learn that we grow, that we come into our full awareness and learn to express the fullness of what it means to be a human being.

It is through the integration of our physical body, our emotional body and our mental body that our personality fully develops and grows. But the adventure of becoming does not stop there. As we increase our awareness and our integration of Self the process of integration grows and expands as we begin to incorporate the fullness of our nature, that of our spiritual nature or our Soul.

It is through the emerging awareness of our Soul that we begin to understand and come to the joy of what it means to be a human being. It is through the “Touch of the Soul” that we begin to understand what a myriad of spiritual paths have taught throughout the ages, that as human beings we are a spark of the Divine. It is through becoming aware of our Soul that we can begin to manifest the fullness of this miracle we call life.

To start to understand your Soul as an integral part of yourself and begin to connect with your Soul as a part of your full being and your true nature, is the beginning of wisdom and the portal to real joy.”

This part of your Self, your Soul, contains within you a jewel of the greatest value we can find in life. The ancients have long referred to it as “the jewel of the lotus.”

What is wonderful and glorious is that this jewel of great value is within you and available to you. It is yours to use and come to know. It is yours to call upon for the wisdom it possesses. It is yours to enjoy and express. It is yours as a teacher, as a guide and as a source of love, joy, and peace, the “peace that passes all understanding.”

It is through meditation that this part of your being becomes accessible to your mind, to your heart and your personality. This quest to learn to touch your Soul and to incorporate the fullness of your Soul ultimately into the fullness of your being is a journey that has been undertaken by wise men and sages throughout time and is available to reach by everyone.

I invite you to embark upon this journey of meditation to awareness, to wisdom to joy through meditation. As the ancient Chinese saying expresses “every great journey begins with a single step.” As you embark upon this step be assured that your Soul awaits your intention to know yourself to the fullness of your being with such a deep and abiding joy, and such a powerful and profound love, that the best in life is yet to come.
