There is, among those who identify themselves as spiritual, a common childhood experience.

This common childhood experience seems to be an early conscious awareness of the Soul as a presence and force in their life. It appears to be, most often an experience that occurs around the age of seven. It may be interpreted, especially by the adults in the child’s life, as an episode of childhood imagination and sadly dismissed and discounted.

As such, it is often forgotten.

Angels often appear in our lives and just wait for us to say hello.

When you begin to talk about Angels, it’s incredible how many people suddenly remember the experience. It is almost as if when you open your mind and your heart to the awareness of Angels the memory gets unlocked.

What I have found most significant about unlocking this childhood memory is the importance it holds in your adult life.

This experience is often a forecasting and clarifying of the purpose of your life. This event of foretelling and guiding is frequently described as a sensation of being so completely loved and so completely supported that the fullness of the heart can barely be contained.

Most people who describe this childhood memory have tears in their eyes. The sense of feeling loved so unconditionally becomes a cherished memory that is re-affirming. The guiding message and insights shared, for many, confirms a belief in God.

This angelic appearance and guiding message have for some long been cherished and pondered in their heart. Some seem to have forgotten this experience, but once they recall and remember it, find a sense of meaning and direction that is both life affirming and profound.

What is fascinating to observe is how such an intense experience can be forgotten and dismissed. What is sad is that the answer you may have been searching for your whole adult life is often whispered to you by an Angel in your youth and then dismissed or forgotten.

You might not think that is possible, but I have found it to be such a common experience that it seems necessary to talk about that childhood experience. Then it is important to consider its meaning and purpose in your life. I have after the memory is revealed, heard people wonder “how could I have forgotten that?”

The relief and assurance that accompanies the memory can be life transforming. With the memory comes the reassurance that you are not alone. The relief of that realization is profound. Consider that this message about the purpose of your life can often be life changing.

There are lessons and revelations available in the process of both forgetting and remembering. The discounting and discarding of your childhood experience by adults and the influence of “conscious reality” is enlightening.

IMPORTANT OBSERVATIONS

There are a few thoughts and observations that are important you understand.

You are not alone in your life.

Your Angels have been with you since the beginning of your life.

Your Soul is the Divine spark of you that remains a source of unconditional love and grace throughout your life.

Your Soul and your Angels reside together in the etheric plane. Their substance is of energy and Light, a different creation or composition than the world of matter.

Many children find it easy to believe in an experience of the presence of what is invisible in the world. In childhood the veil between the material world and the spiritual world is thin. Children are born with an understanding and awareness that there is more to life than just the experience of the five senses.

Over time, that awareness of the dual nature of themselves as a being of both Soul and matter is all too often carefully and critically trained out of them. Parental fears of what it might mean or how others might interpret it limit many childhood experiences. Criticism and judgment ultimately cause a rejection of the truth and awareness with which they are born.

So much of becoming aware of the presence of Angels in our lives is a process of remembering and accepting what we knew to be real as children.

There are a special time and special event that often happen in your youth (a lot of times around the age of seven.) This experience is uniquely empowering and revealing to remember as an adult. Most often this event is a contact and communication with your guardian angel. It is a starting point to a relationship that could be fostered to support and sustain you through your entire life.

What is most significant about this childhood meeting is that it is so life affirming and life changing. When you remember the content of the message that is delivered by your guardian Angel about the purpose of your life it can provide a sense of purpose and direction. In my many years of counseling and life guidance coaching, or as someone recently identified it “Soul Coaching,” finding your Soul purpose in life is inspiring.

The more clarity with which you can visualize and understand the purpose of your life the more empowering it is. The more you can transcend your fears to achieve and manifest your dreams the more successful you can be.

So, this angelic childhood encounter of life guidance is critical. It is important to remember this special blessing and, therefore, worth taking some time in meditation to consider.

For many just realizing that an experience that they have held deeply in their hearts was real is enough to unlock the memory.

For others, the habit of denying the reality of angelic presence has become deeply ingrained. Even, when as adults they begin to explore the reality of the presence of Angels in the world and their lives, that parental voice that this event was just childish imagination might be a challenge to transcend.

If you are one of those people who was criticized or even reprimanded for your imagination as a child, it may help you to understand that imagination is a portal to the realm of angelic presence. Angels can cross into the world of matter at times, but it is not where they reside. Their substance, their guidance, and their messages are gentle promptings that work through the intuition and the imagination.

Their voice is a whispered prompting that often flashes so quickly across your mind that you need to quiet your mind chatter even to hear it. The voice of your angels and the promptings of your Soul are often only heard in the silence of prayer, meditation or contemplation. There they respond to your invitation and invocation.

In fact, it is during this childhood visitation that your Angel can reveal your Soul purpose. It is one of the very few times in your life where those who remember the encounter may report a voice accompanying the revelation. If you are someone who experiences communication with the Angels you know that most often their communication is telepathic and not frequently accompanied by sounds that can be perceived by your material senses.

It also seems significant to observe that among those who remember and report this visitation event, it often is at an age when you are too young to be able to write insightful notes to yourself. This divine message is written on your heart. It is meant to be pondered in your heart.

Remembering the guidance received from your Guardian Angel depends on opening your heart and your mind as you ponder.

USING MEDITATION

Below is a meditation link to help you remember the advice you received as a child from your Guardian Angel.

Meditation is the most efficient way to open the threshold between the material world and the realm of spirit where the Angels reside wince it is where your Soul calls home.

I mention your Soul for two reasons:

First, opening to the touch of your Soul is a dynamic way to transform your life.

Second, is that there is a very special relationship that exists between your Guardian Angel and your Soul as partners to support you in your earthly life, from the heavenly realm.

So to come into greater awareness of your Guardian Angel and to have the increased awareness of the Presence of your Soul, use meditation as the bridge.

To meditate upon or to remember and clarify the childhood guidance you received, it is as always wise to prepare. Since in this meditation, you have the intention of revealing guidance about the purpose of your life I recommend some preparatory steps.

Get your journal or, at least, some paper and a pen and place it next to where you will sit to meditate. That is often important so you can record and remember the insights and impressions you receive in meditation.

It is often helpful to take some steps to make the space sacred. It can be as simple or complex as you like, but this focus declares your intention to open your mind to the realm of Angels and your Soul.

You might wish to light a candle or burn some incense or have a crystal’s energy to be infused from this meditation.

These little rituals are sometimes helpful in realizing that meditation is a time apart from you ordinary consciousness. It is a special time designated for greater awareness and understanding.

Then consider your intention to remember the guidance of your Guardian Angel and be open to gain the insight and wisdom of your Soul about the Higher purpose for your life.

Angels Are Among Us

This article is a part of my on-going series on Angels.

How the visible world co-exists with and connects with the invisible world is a great mystery.

There remains among most of us a sweet residual memory of an awareness of the presence of the angelic realm from a time of innocence and acceptance in our childhood when the realm of angels and devas was open to our inner sight.

You may remember this time. You may be one of the rare people who kept this vision open in spite of the input and insistence of those who only value what was material and tangible as real.

You may remember being ridiculed or disapproval as you insisted that this world you could see with your etheric vision was real.

Gradually, you may have learned to accept the definitions and limitations that the world around you defined as real.

If you are one of the rare and special individuals, who clung to a sense of truth and knowing about the nature of what is real, in spite of your reality not receiving the confirmation of those around you, this post is especially for you.

It is a part of the amazing hubris of the human experience to only acknowledge and value what can be experienced, touched and felt through the senses of sight, touch, hearing, taste or smell.

To deny the reality that anything exists beyond the accepted ways of sensing or experiencing the world is an unnecessary limitation. It confines and entraps you to an awareness that constricts, rather than opens and expands, your reality to the amazing miracle that is all of life and all of creation.

Life, and indeed consciousness, is not limited and confined by what is material in the world. To begin to understand this and expand your awareness to feel and explore energy and consciousness beyond the limitation of matter opens your mind.

To think that matter is the only thing that is real denies and confines truth. The fact is, you don’t know, what you don’t know.

It is an important step in consciousness to begin to understand the immense scope of what is real in this vast and amazing multifaceted adventure we know as life.

To begin to acknowledge that both what is composed of spirit is real and simply obeys different universal laws than the laws that govern matter, opens your heart and your mind to an awareness that is even more amazing and miraculous than you have ever imagined.

Physics in its quest for understanding the nature of what is real is just beginning to explore reality in ways that demonstrate that the world is more mysterious and magical that we have ever imagined.

The knowledge of the subtle world is just beginning to be explored and explained by the scientific world. Much of what has been taught in the Ageless Wisdom, or has been revealed in spiritual teachings of the Bible, are just beginning to be explained or understood.

Physics and science has the ability to measure increasingly more refined subtle energies, which unveils a world that is much more diverse and amazing than has been imagined.

The nature of energy, the nature of consciousness, how thought and other invisible forces impact the material world, are all revealing concepts that are changing our understanding of life.

For those for whom the only reality is scientific proof, what is being revealed through quantum physics and especially the groundbreaking field of noetic science, requires opening and expanding the understanding of what is real.

Concepts such as the Holographic Universe and the revelation that space can be inter-permeable, as well as new revelations about the nature of subatomic particles, are mind expanding and awareness enhancing.

Angels Are . . .

In light of these revelations, we can begin to understand how angels can be among us and have always been among us.

Most people believe that there are angels. I think most people want to believe that angels observe our human experience and can at times provide assistance. The concept of a guardian angel appeals to most people. Throughout literature, there have been many stories told of angels appearing in one’s life, often as messengers from God.

That angels can have a message that is personal and revealing is certainly behind the popularity of Angel cards. That angels are still the messengers of God, aware of a willingness to provide assistance, is a very comforting and appealing concept.

This leads to wondering how the angelic or spiritual realm can connect with and influence the world of dense matter or more significantly come into your awareness.

It seems a first step is to understand that matter must obey the rules of matter, but that there is that which is not matter and therefore functions by different rules. The inter-penetrable nature of space demonstrated through particle physics provides a hint that is most likely beyond the understanding of most people.

Luckily, your consciousness is not limited by your ability to understand these different realms, nor is the truth or nature of the realm of spirit limited by your understanding. Your consciousness can travel freely from the world of matter into the realm of spirit. This you can do through meditation. This you can do by deep pondering in nature.

Open yourself to an encounter with heaven, be as a little child. Release your desire to the winds of the universe. Trust your angels to catch your wish and bring it to you in a delightfully surprising way.

People often find it easier to sense and touch the spirit world when they are out in nature. The intermingled interaction between spirit and matter is more visible when the bombarding of the physical senses becomes less intense. When you are in nature the presence of the world of spirit blends with the presence of life itself.

Away from the noise and bustle of cities and stress, in the quiet and amidst the teaming of the life force of nature, is an excellent opportunity to renew and refine your ability to commune with and open your awareness to, the rich energy of the world of spirit.

In order to experience the world of spirit it is helpful to have some understanding of the part of creation that not only co-exists with our human life experience but also co-creates in its own realm under its own Divine direction in harmony and cooperation with the world of matter.

To understand that the realm of angels is different from the world of tangible substance and matter does not make one realm real and the other unreal. It does mean however that they operate within distinctive parameters. They serve different purposes and functions in the world. They are experienced through a distinctive sense that is more attuned to subtle and etheric energy, than the more dense matter that is perceived through the senses of sight, sound, touch taste, and smell.

Angels have long been presences in many of the world’s great Cathedrals. There they have an almost tangible feel that supports the bridging of the awareness of spirit requested by human petitioners.

It is believed by many who receive impressions from the angelic realm that this impregnating of the world’s great Cathedrals is an act of service by the angels so that humans may have an experience of their Soul, which resides in the realm of the angelic. Their presence serves as a conduit to a greater experience of your Soul, thus making it easier to be open to the energy of the world of Spirit.

I believe angels are always among us and we can feel their presence. We can open our hearts and our minds to the soft gentle voice of their nature by invitation and invocation in meditation when we have the intention to experience the world that is not made of matter, yet is no less real.

The Nature of Angels

It is important to understand some essential elements of the nature of angels. Angels are beings who live and move and have their being in a way that is unique to them and different from the human evolutionary experience. Their being resides on a different plane of existence.

The essence of Divine Love weaves the fabric of their life. That is why the sensing or appearance of angels is usually associated with a profound sense of being loved. It also explains why throughout time most who have written of angels have described them as residents of heaven.

The realm of the invisible, that is the realm of angels, is also the realm of your Soul. Your Soul, your guardian angel, and a mystical angel known as the Angel of the Presence are all a dynamic part of your human evolution that is a part of this invisible realm of being.

This awareness may shift your understanding of the phrase oft-touted:

“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.”
– Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

Think about that possibility and consider what implications that would have in your life. Ponder on this.

You are a spark of Divine Light. You were created in the image of the creator. These are deep truths and deep mysteries that speak to a sense of knowing that defies logic. You are an eternal being who has entered into matter for a span of measured time out of eternity.

You don’t just have a Soul; your Soul is the essence of your being. You have a physical body, emotional body, a mind, and personality but these are under the influence of your Soul, which is the eternal spark of Divinity that defines you.

What you can touch, see, feel, taste or smell all exists in the world of matter. What you can sense beyond the 5 senses of matter comes to you through the gifts of the higher mind, intuition and sensing and impressions of your Soul.

To open your awareness and your ability to touch the reality of this realm of consciousness you need to utilize invitation and invocation to make it accessible to your conscious mind while you sit quietly in the stillness.

Meditate to Invite Angels to Appear

I have found that meditation can be the doorway to experiencing these subtle energies, so I have created a meditation just for you to invite angels into your life.

Before you begin this meditation, you might wish to have a journal and pen at hand so that you can record and capture whatever insights, guidance or impressions you receive.

To begin a meditation to connect with and commune with Angels it is important to first quiet your mind of the constant chatter that masks your ability to hear the promptings in the silence, the still quiet voice of the Soul and of angelic presences.

As much as you are able, suspend thought and judgment as you calm your mind, open your heart and invite the Light.

As you sit quietly and prepare to listen, not with your ears but with your inner ear and to see not with your eyes but with your inner sight, let your mind be open and receptive.

Then issue an Angel invocation and invitation by saying in your heart and mind:

Angels of Light, Angels of Love, Angels of God, I invite you to come into my presence and reveal to me any messages, thoughts or impressions that can help me at this time in my life.

I open my mind to receive any thoughts or impressions that will guide me in my heartfelt desire to live a better life.

For the gift of your guidance, I give thanks. For the blessing that you have come to my awareness at my invitation and invocation, I give thanks.

Now, having issued the invitation sit quietly and receptively for about 5-10 minutes.

Record in your journal any thoughts or impressions you might have. Once you feel the connection to the angelic presences, you can offer up a specific issue or challenge about which you need help and clarity.

Remain quiet and receptive, observing.

This time of communing will begin to fade.

Before you return to your daily life, express your gratitude for this quiet time and any clarity or understanding you may have received.

Carry with you the peace, the love and the joyful sense of communion you may have touched in this meditation.

I invite you and encourage you to open your heart and your mind to the presence of angels in your life. Connecting with your Soul is a portal to consciousness of the world of angels and the Divine that can have impact and influence on your life.

The guidance, the wisdom, the love and the joy that are available through expanding your awareness is empowering and amazing.

When you open your heart, and your mind to experience and enjoy the beauty and blessings of your life on all levels of your being, physical, emotional, mental and spiritual, the miracle of life will be revealed. Joy and love will fill your life. This love and this joy are your birthright and are available to you when you open up to the belief that angels are among us. Celebrate!

How To Call Upon Angels For Help

Angels are all around us.

They are composed of pure energy and pure Light so you may go through your whole life and never be aware of their Presence.

You may have at times felt their presence.

You may have never wondered about angels at all. Since they are a part of the realm of what is to our physical eye invisible you could have completely rejected angels as being real at all.

For many people life is easier if they reject anything that cannot be experienced with their sense of touch, sight, smell, or sound. Of course, sensing or feeling is a part of our sensory awareness also but, not in the same category as the physical senses of the body.

If you are among those who have felt or sensed the presence of angels, there may be a great deal about the nature of angels that have never been explained. Even among those who believe in angels, there is a myriad of theories that may be presented as facts. The truth is that one of the limitations of being in a human experience right now is that there is a lot about angels that is kept behind the veil.

Yet, you may very well sense angelic presences as a part of your life experience. You may have felt their benevolence as something you could call upon for help or support in particularly challenging or troubling times in your life. That is certainly possible and among those who have called upon angels for help, protection or guidance many stories are told. Indeed, your experiences when you open to the angelic kingdom can add to the lore of angels when help is provided, and miracles happen.

How Can I Sense Angels

Angelic communication is a part of coming into contact and harmony with your Soul. Your Soul is the bridging part of your being that opens you beyond the limitations of your body. When you open your heart to love you expand your awareness.

By opening to the Presence of your Soul and by opening your heart to love you open your life to other subtle frequencies of reality that are beyond the restraints of dense matter. It is with this expanded awareness that you can commune with angels.

Opening your consciousness to your Soul opens you to a vast realm of life that exists beyond what is perceived by the five senses. It opens you into an expanded reality that incorporates miracles and expands your understanding of the nature of subtle energies. This realm of reality beyond the input of the five senses is very real. It is the reality of you as a Soul, having a human adventure. It is the reality of you as a child of God. It is the realm of which co-creation with the Divine happens. It is the realm inhabited by angels.

What Are The Steps To Being Open To An Angel

Meditation is one of the key portals to this reality. Prayer also serves as a gateway. Understanding this merger of spiritual energy in a way that brings perception to the mind of reality beyond the five senses will expand your awareness. Ponder on this.

The principle of free will is an essential aspect of spiritual life. Therefore, invitation and invocation are necessary steps to experiencing your Soul, and communicate with and experiencing angels. The presence of your Soul, angelic presences, and even the direction of the Divine respond to invitation and invocation.

Free will is a universal law. It functions much like other universal laws and principles like the law of attraction, like the principle that energy follows thought and a variety of other so-called spiritual laws. These laws have been woven into the very substance of creation and must be adhered to by even the creator. This is why meditation and prayer are such important parts of opening your life to spiritual realities. When you meditate or pray you are inviting and invoking, thus making it possible for you to cross the veil and enter the angelic kingdom.

As I mentioned in my “Meeting You Guardian Angel” article, your personal Guardian Angel is committed to you, and therefore is the most accessible to you of the angels of the Angelic Kingdom. However, other angels remain close to human life, and human experiences that are charged with, and have taken responsibility for, interfacing with human lives. Those angels are most accessible to you when you call for help, guidance or Divine Intervention.

How To Call Upon An Angel

To call upon angels for help, guidance or Divine Intervention is a very specific type of inter-relationship with an angelic presence. It requires invocation and invitation. In most instances invocation and invitation come when you pray, asking for help. Since one of the primary functions of an angel is a messenger from God, many see asking for angelic assistance as a way of asking for God’s help. They are all on the same team.

When in response to your prayer you sense the presence of an angel, it is time to request help and support. Angels, especially those angels whose mission is to provide aid and support to humanity, often are more available in those places where people congregate to bridge the veil from matter to spirit. That is why churches and temples are often the easiest places to make contact with the angelic realm or for some, their own Soul. The aggregate energy that is formed from the years of human intention eases this communication between worlds.

The cathedrals of the world have long been a place where angels gather. The quest for access from the material to the spiritual has charged the energy in ways that can facilitate your request. For this reason, you might wish to go to a place of worship when you are calling for divine help. Space or distance do not limit angels, but the energetic pathways in these areas have been reinforced by others who have preceded you in asking for angelic or Divine help.

Invitation and Invocation Angelic Ritual

When inviting and invoking angels I have always liked the ritual of lighting a candle. To me, the golden white light of a candle is symbolic of the Light of my Soul. Before I seek communion with what is spiritual I invoke the words “Calm Your Mind, Open Your Heart, Invite The Light.” You may have noticed that this is an injunction that I use to open the energy in almost all of my guided meditations.

Some have shared with me that they use this phrase and these world like a Mantra, especially in times of great need or stress.

The Mantram I shared in my article “Meeting Your Guardian Angel” remains one of my very favorite Mantras to invoke and invite angelic Presence. I will share it with you again here.

Say in your mind and heart this Mantra of Invitation.

Beloved Come

Infuse . . . Inflame . . . Instill . . .

Incorporate in living substance,

All Thy Will.

Then sit quietly and receptively in the silence allowing the time and space for angelic contact.

By this ritual, the lighting of a candle, calming your mind, opening your heart and inviting in the Light, then issuing the invitation with the Mantram, you have created a sacred space for angelic contact.

As always, I recommend that you have a journal and pen available to record any thoughts, insights or impressions you receive in the silence.

Please Note: When you request help from the angels be aware that there are angels all around you, but Divine intervention always is aligned with Divine Will and the greatest good. That perspective may not be in keeping with what you want, but is always for what is best for all who are concerned.

Open your awareness to the realm of angels and the guidance of your Soul to receive the blessings and benefits in your life of an expansion of your consciousness into the greater scope of reality. Let the love of the angels who have responded to your invitation enfold you and support you. Then express your gratitude to the angels and return to your daily life.
