Introduction to How Miracles Are Created

Introduction to How Miracles Are Created

Read Introduction to How Miracles Are Created article by Genevieve Gerard

My meditation and thoughts have been recently focused on the subject of miracles.

Miracles are something that seem important to understand.

As I ponder and consider what makes a miracle happen and what composes the building blocks of a miracle, I realize that some special energetic forces must come together to cause a miracle to happen.

I will strive in this article to explore the factors and components that combine to create miracles. I will try in what I write today to provide you with ways to empower your life to make you more open to miracles.

At its core, a miracle is an amazing thing because to make a miracle happen the physical and spiritual worlds must come together. In this realization, there is an important hint to ponder on about how miracles happen.

As I contemplate on miracles and pray for guidance on how to teach and explain them, I am aware that attempting this teaching is a demonstration of how times are changing. As we enter into this new stage of human evolution, what has long been kept hidden is now being revealed.

The old ways, “to know, to dare and to do and to keep silent” are being replaced by openness, as humanity is changing and evolving. Miracles, while as old as time itself, have traditionally been reserved for Divine beings. The past is peppered with those who were ordinary people before they performed what became known as a miracle.

When I consider the stories of miracles, I, of course, look to the stories of the life of Jesus, which are recorded in the New Testament. At the same time, it is important to remember that Jesus said, “Greater things than I have done you shall do.” John 14.

Jesus’s statement seems to direct people to not only believe in miracles but to take an active role in the creation of miracles. It does not relegate miracles to 2500 years ago. It does not imply that miracles are the exclusive purview of Jesus. It seems to imply that doing miracles is a natural and important extension of being disciples of Jesus and of being a spiritual being. It seems to take away the excuse and limiting beliefs you might have about performing miracles because you are only human.

It seems to mean that miracles are a part of living and coming into relationship with the Divine that it is important to understand. This article, this exploration of the components that make miracles happen and sharing my understanding and awareness of miracles is more than I can do in 2000 words today. I realize that there is so much that goes into a miracle that this article is the first step into this mystery.

Miracles are not contrary to nature,
but only contrary to what we know about nature.
          – Saint Augustine

In pondering the concept of miracles, you may be immediately confronted with what you believe you know about life and science that falls into the realm of miracles. I will remind you that new discoveries are constantly being revealed about the nature of energy, particularly in the area of subtle energies.

Quantum physics and the astonishing revelations of Noetic Science all make it clear that there is still so much we do not know or understand about life.

It is interesting to note that much of what is being revealed and confirmed in Noetic Science is scientific confirmation of much that has been taught in the Ageless Wisdom.

I continue to explore this concept of miracles through meditation. Also, I will continue to ponder and consider what is revealed in my consciousness in my quest to empower you to create miracles in your life.

As I write to you today, I realize that even though I have been pondering and meditating on the subject of miracles for a while now, the insights and understandings I have now are just a small glimpse into the truth of how miracles work.

I will commit to continuing this quest into the subject of miracles and share with you any insights and revelations I receive in subsequent articles. These I will identify, like I do with my healing articles, as a part of an ongoing series.

That said there are some things I have come to understand about miracles that I can share with you today.

Intention, Personal and Divine Will

It seems clear to me that a miracle involves a merger between intention and personal and Divine Will.

This merging of Will seems to be one of the building blocks, or essential components for manifesting a miracle. I am speaking here of miracles beyond the miracle of creation or the miracle of life itself, to the little miracles you and I may wish to focus upon as we move through life.

The dynamic of personal Will and Divine Will is an integral part of all energetic healing. It speaks to the very deep and profound issues in spiritual and life experience.

This issue of personal Will and Divine Will influences prayers, and it most certainly has a profound impact on the creation of miracles.

As I have considered and prepared to write this article, I have found this issue of personal Will and Divine Will interweaving through my thoughts.

As I have explored why my ponderings about miracles have led me repeatedly to the issue of Will, I realized that it is in the creation of a miracle that personal Will and Divine Will must become perfectly aligned.

This alignment of personal Will and Divine Will is an important part of all energetic healing, and since the miracle that many desire in life are directly related to healing, that makes a great deal of sense. So in some way it is natural to consider healing and miracles together.

A miracle is distinctly different from a prayer or invocation for healing. Although some of the components are very similar to prayer, there seems to be more to a miracle than just prayer. This seems to imply that there is a blending of invocation and evocation in both miracles and prayer.

The Role Of The Soul In Miracles

As I write about miracles, I find myself needing to stop and meditate to let my mind be open to what is involved in performing a miracle. That very fact seems to give an important hint about miracles. A miracle is performed by your Soul when held in perfect alignment with Divine Will. Ponder on this.

Another vital and very important part is that the personal Will is also perfectly and completely aligned with the Will of the Soul and Divine Will. This trinity of Wills has a dynamic power to it.

To achieve this alignment of your personality and your personal Will with the Will of your Soul is an exalted experience and can be transformative and transcendent. Just aligning with the power and magnificence of your Soul is already amazing. This experience alone is often life-changing.

When energy is further aligned with the power and presence of the Divine, especially through the aspect of aligning your Will and your Soul with Divine Will, energy can be changed. It is in this alignment of Source, Soul and Self that great power is released. It is in this unity of Will and purpose that dynamic transformation can take place.

To concurrently be invoking your Will and to be at the same moment in time completely surrendered is a unique experience. All of the prayers you have prayed through a lifetime of petitions are preparation for this mystical moment of union. It is special and rare, as miracles are special and rare.

Prayer is the medium of miracles;
in whatever way works for you, pray right now.
        – Marianne Williamson

To come into greater awareness of your Soul and to touch and incorporate the amazing breadth of the wonder of your Soul, is perhaps the best way to open your life to miracles.

Meditation Is The Portal

Meditation is the portal to your Soul. When you open yourself, your heart and your mind to the love that is the nature of your Soul, you have embarked upon a quest to understand the Divine in a more profound and powerful way than you may have thought possible.

It might be said that the first step in a miracle is the step of opening yourself to experience the wonder of your Soul.

The joy of connecting with your Soul in meditation is both wonderful and glorious. Today I offer you a meditation to help you experience the joy of connecting with your Soul. I know of no greater gift that I can give you than to facilitate your connection and awareness of your Soul.

A Meditation to Prepare your Life for Miracles

Much like prayer will help you learn to align your personal Will with Divine Will, this meditation is created to help you align with your Soul.

To begin sit in a quiet place, clear of distractions or interruptions.

This is a special time. This is a sacred time. To enter into this meditation first declare your intention to be open to the amazing Presence of your Soul.

Calm your mind, open your heart and invite the Light.

Let yourself draw in a very deep breath to help you relax. As you exhale, release any tension or anxieties and let them fade away and disappear from your awareness.

Come into this moment of time. It is only NOW. Nothing that has ever been before this moment has any power over you.

Draw in another very deep and peaceful breath. As you release that breath, let forgiveness and grace begin to fill your heart and your mind.

Affirm that although you have a body, you are more than just a physical being. Realize that although you experience a great array of emotions, they wash over you freely and are now freely released.

Accept that you have a mind, yet you are more than the content of your thoughts.

You have a personality. Let it surrender to the Love, the Wisdom and the directing of your Soul. Let the Soul have control.

Identify with your whole self as you open your heart and your mind to experience the magnificent radiance of your Soul.

Visualize your Soul as a radiant golden-white light three feet above your head. Let the Light, the Love and the Power of your Soul, gently fill your whole being. You are Love. You are Light. You are the Soul.

You are a miracle of Divine Light created by Divine Love and infused with Divine Wisdom to be a Soul having a human experience right here and right now on planet earth.

Let that thought pervade your thoughts. Let that truth fill your heart. Open yourself to being your whole self.

Pause as you breathe in this essence of being that is available to you.

Immediately release any thoughts that disturb you. Let the peace that passes understanding into the moment. Accept the grace, understanding and forgiveness that connecting with your Soul brings.

Let all of your fears crumble into dust as they are blown away into oblivion. Gone, they have no substance to emerge again.

You are Soul. You are the spark of Divine Light that is endless, timeless and eternal.

As Soul, you are One with the Universal Presence. As Soul, you are aligned with the mind of God.

Pause and let yourself experience all that is available to you in this meditation and this moment.

Stay with this awareness for as long as you can. Gradually become aware of your breath. Let your awareness drift to your mind, your heart and your body. Let yourself be filled with the Light, the Love and the Power of your Soul.

As you are ready to conclude, become aware of the sounds and the vibration of the world around you.

Before you return to the needs of your life, take a moment to express your gratitude for the blessing this meditation has been.

Namaste.

I suggest that you take some time in the afterglow of this meditation to record your thoughts and impressions in your journal.

To touch your Soul, is to touch the hem of heaven. I invite and encourage you to meditate on your Soul often and open yourself to the amazing creation that you are.

To touch your Soul, can be the fuel for miracles in your life.

Namaste,

   Genevieve

You Can Heal Your Life

You Can Heal Your Life

Read "You Can Heal Your Life" article by Genevieve Gerard

This article is a continuation of my on-going series on Healing.

There is a direct relationship between your ability to heal your life and your ability to connect with your Higher Self.

The more consciously you can experience this integral part of your being, the more impact it has on your life experiences.

This integration influencing your awareness opens you to a myriad of benefits that can empower your life.  There is a direct relationship between this and self-healing.

Within your being, there is a variety of energies that relate to being healed.  There is physical healing; this is focused on ailments and limitations that are physical in their nature.  There is emotional healing; this is often one of the most challenging aspects of healing.  It involves bringing the volatile diverse emotional sensations into integration and alignment.  Emotional healing may require releasing your fears that inhibit you or stop you from taking advantage of new opportunities.

Overcoming fear is a frequent need for healing.  Fortunately, transcending fear is a significant life lesson that responds well to spiritual healing and techniques such as meditation that put you in touch with your Higher Self.

There are many spiritual lessons that have a dramatic impact on emotional healing.  These include forgiveness, learning to come into the present moment and lnearing to center your energies.

Healing also requires focusing the power of your thoughts; this involves using your personal will and intention and harnessing the creative power of your mind.

Healing is a complex issue requiring the integration and inclusion of the wholeness of your Self; this means your Higher Self, your physical self, personality and your emotions and mind.

The relationship between your thoughts and your life is renowned.  These thoughts lead to such bold statements as:

If we are willing to do the mental work, almost anything can be healed.
      – Louise L. Hay

Healing takes place on all of these levels.  Your Higher Self, also known as the Soul, serves as the director of this integrative process.  Ultimately, the reformative energy that creates healing, physical, emotional or mental comes from your Soul.

The role of the Soul in the process of healing is also protective.  Your Soul, as the spark of Divine Light within you, has an awareness of factors that may well not be clear or significant to you as a personality composed of mind, emotions, and physical being.

This protection of the Soul is why in striving to heal either yourself or another, the Ageless Wisdom instructs firmly to incorporate surrender to Divine Will and Divine purpose into your request for healing.

In my many years of studying healing, there are many phrases that I have been instructed to use.  Among these are, “I ask this in accordance with God’s will” or “within God’s Will and for the highest good of all.”

These protective phrases align your purpose with the higher purpose in life.  Aligning your personal will with the Divine Will serves to prevent unintended consequences.  Illness, injury and dis-ease, all can serve a purpose in helping you learn and grow.  These experiences can reveal an incredible mystery, ponder on this.

Through adversity, illness, and injury, it is possible to experience remarkable growth and ultimately bring your life closer to fulfilling your purpose.

Healing is ultimately about healing your life.  Whether the healing needed is primarily physically, emotionally or the opening and empowering of your mind, healing is about opening yourself to greater understanding and awareness of your higher self.

In the practice of healing, there is a phrase that describes this process.  It refers to an illness or an injury as a healing crisis.  That perspective helps you see an ill-ness as a manifestation of dis-ease.  When you bring your life into balance and are aligned with your Higher Power (your Higher Self) you open yourself to miraculous healing potential.

If you consider every life event as a situation or circumstance that has an opportunity for transformation and growth, you have already made a shift in your consciousness that empowers you. Ponder on this.

Sometimes a miracle is a change in material conditions, such as physical healing.  At other times, it is a psychological or emotional change.
      – Marianne Williamson

Whatever part of your being requires healing, it is subject to your Soul.

Prayers for healing and affirmations of healing, all help to focus your Higher Self on a particular need or desire for healing.  Moreover, when you look at your life, considering what you can learn from illness or injury, you empower yourself to transcend, transform and transmute; in other words heal.

A powerful mantra that speaks to this point invokes:

Let the Soul control the outer form and life all events, and
bring to light the love that underlies the happenings of the time.
      – Mantram of Unification Invocation for the New Group of Word Servers

Because healing is ultimately the work of the Higher Self (Soul), whether, in you or another, all healing is spiritual healing.  Which part of the being requires healing does not matter.  Healing can be physical, emotional or psychological.

The actual mechanism of healing requires a synthesis of a person and their Divine spark that is known as the Higher Self.

Real healing takes place from the Soul level.
Everything else is just treatment.
      – Genevieve Gerard

When the lesson is learned, or the purpose for which the dis-ease was created has been accomplished, there is a significant release of energy, which often can result in miraculous healing.  In discussing this issue is it important to remember that to the Soul, which is the eternal part of your being, even physical death can be seen as the ultimate healing.

This perspective on the true nature of healing may be different for you, yet, if you have ever sat beside a loved one in the end stage of life or watched the sense of peace that comes with the last breath of life, you will understand this perspective.  It is a perspective that is wise to keep somewhere in your awareness when you are praying for or invoking healing.  It is a perspective that helps you stay aligned and centered in Divine Will and focused and surrendered to Right Action.

Healing is always miraculous.  It is a blessing available to you to heal your life when you are touched by the healing power and the healing presence of your Higher Self.  Remember and affirm, “I can heal my life!”

Namaste,

    Genevieve

Breaking Through To Forgiveness

Breaking Through To Forgiveness

Read "Breaking Through To Forgiveness" a blog post by Genevieve Gerard

Forgiveness is a subject that I write about frequently. This is because in my life, in my experience, whenever I have been able to forgive someone, my life changed and improved in a dramatic and dynamic way.

Not so long ago, when speaking with my much-loved Aunt Merle, we were talking about my writing and teachings, and my efforts to use my life lessons for the benefit of others.

I commented to her that forgiveness was something I knew a great deal about and that I had become very good at it.

My aunt, who knew many of the challenges I had experienced in my life’s journey, got very quiet for a moment. Then she said with love and compassion in her voice, “Perhaps dear that is because you had so much that needed to be forgiven, happen in your life.”

That statement gave me pause. It is certainly true that my life has provided, possibly like yours, so many experiences and situations that were so awful that I rarely speak about them. In my mind, I just consider them my own personal horror stories. I frankly rarely think of them anymore. Still they are a part of my past, a past I have been able to be free of through my ability to forgive. Because forgiveness freed me.

By forgiving, I was able to let what was in the past, not be a factor in my present.

It is in light of this awareness that I write today to encourage you to forgive.

It’s not an easy journey, to get to a place where you forgive people. But, it is such a powerful place, because it frees you.
        – Tyler Perry

Moreover, I encourage you to do it for what it will do for you and how it will impact your life.

It has always fascinated me that the most powerful and significant impact that forgiving had, was for me, rather than upon those I had forgiven. In fact it is not even necessary for those you forgive to know you have forgiven them. My forgiving freed me from carrying the pain. My forgiving permitted me to heal and move forward in my life.

Forgiveness is not always easy…
And yet, there is no peace without forgiveness.
        – Marianne Williamson

When I think back to the moment that I was able to fully and finally forgive, I feel such joy remembering the relief and release that I experienced, it still makes me smile.

Energetically, when I broke through to forgiveness there was a shift that felt like a thousand hurts and burdens shattering, like tempered glass, into refuse on the floor of my life, that could now be cleaned up and swept away.

Up until that moment I knew that I had only attempted to forgive, I even told myself that I had forgiven the myriad of betrayals and cruelties I was made to suffer. I persisted, and with each attempt I paved the way that helped me reach a point where I could finally and totally forgive, and with each attempt to forgive the burden got lighter.

In fact, I had been working on forgiving much of my life. It is as if I knew from an early age, even in the midst of being subjected to terrible acts and situations that I needed to find it in my heart to forgive. In fact, when I shared what was happening in my life and what I was being subjected to in terms of abuse with teachers, preachers and counselors; they advised me to return love and forgiveness. And I certainly tried.

It was only when I realized that an important part of forgiveness was acknowledging the wrongness of what I had been subjected to, that I could release the anger that I was carrying. Otherwise, in the words of my spiritual mentor it was “premature transcendence.”  Honoring and admitting the reality of my anger was important.

Actually, it was only when my own spiritual journey took me to doing A Course on Miracles and I entered a phase of daily seed thoughts and affirmations on forgiveness, that I was ultimately able to forgive sufficiently and to be truly free.

Two seed thoughts that had a profound impact upon me, which were offered back to back, and which I spent days contemplating on I offer to you now. They are, “forgiveness is the key to happiness”  and, “forgiveness offers everything I want.”

Doing, Not Trying

I had been doing spiritual work in A Course in Miracles when my business travel placed me in a situation where I felt compelled to visit my Mother. In my life, much of what I needed to forgive was centered on my relationship with my Mother. Some for what she did, but much for what she failed to do, for the ways she left me vulnerable and unprotected.

When I found myself face to face with her after many years of my avoiding being subjected to her cruelty, and the memories that being with her made inescapable, I thought I might as well put into practice what I had been learning.

I went into my visit with my mother determined to not fall victim to her abuse. I had decided that I would not give her the power to push my buttons. (Up until that time, her behavior stimulated a response in me that I did not like and was vastly different from my usual self.)

Certainly, it is true for most people that their Mother knows exactly what to say or do to push their buttons. That was very true for me. My Mother’s strongest weapon was her poison tongue. Her vitriolic attacks and demeaning insults were only a part of what I needed to forgive, but they were something that had continued even after her failure to protect me from others was no longer relevant, because as an adult I could now protect myself. These verbal attacks made it hard to be with her.

In addition, although I could never understand how or why she seemed to enjoy being mean and cruel, I knew that I needed to find a way to not be her victim.

When, in the course of our visit she said something that was both demeaning and cruel, something shifted in me. This was not new behavior for her and certainly not new in our troubled relationship. What was new was how I reacted to it. I looked at her and instead of being angry, I returned love. I maintained my center and did not react. In fact, I recall feeling a deep sadness.

Then, the most amazing thing happened. When I did not respond in kind by saying something mean and cruel back to her, she became angrier. She became frustrated as she lobbed insult after insult at me. As I stayed centered in myself and not reactive she became so angry and so frustrated that she ultimately insulted herself back for me. She did this by saying “I know what you are going to say is…”  Ironically, what she said had never even crossed my mind.

What I then said, from my center, calmly was “I didn’t say that Mother, you did. Is that how you feel?”

In that moment, I was finally able to break through and forgive her. In that moment, I became free. I knew that for as long as we lived after that point I had the power to be who I was and not give her the power to control my behavior. In that moment, I discovered the amazing power of turning the other cheek.

forgiveness taking flight

In forgiving her, I was now free. That moment changed our entire relationship and that change remained until she passed from this life.

That does not mean that she was never mean again. Of course not. She was who she was. She did, over time come to appreciate the forgiveness I had given her, but the significant change was in me. The freedom and the release was mine, and that freedom and release allowed me to be in her company and be true to myself. To be who I had become in life.

There are in other articles I have written on forgiveness meditations and techniques that I have shared to assist you. I encourage you to consider them on your own quest to learn to forgive.

Forgiveness often contains many layers. Each time you forgive a wrong you peel away a layer and weaken the hold that the hurt has on you.

At its core, forgiveness is tied into love. The more you can love, the more you can forgive. The more you can forgive the more your compassion is stimulated as you understand better the factors that led to the circumstances you are striving to forgive. I encourage you and will continue to offer guidance and support on your quest to forgive.

When you forgive, you in no way change the past – but you sure do change the future.
        – Bernard Medtzer

Over the next 4 days I will post daily seed thoughts on forgiveness to support you through my Imagine 1 Minute social posts (please follow me on Facebook and Twitter.) Also, keep checking back, I am sure I will write again on the subject of forgiveness.

I invite you to experience the freedom that forgiveness gives. I encourage you to find it in your heart to forgive whatever horrors you may have been subjected to in your life. Your intention provides power.

Honestly own your anger and then let it all go with forgiveness.

Forgiveness Affirmations

To help you forgive here are some affirmations that you can use:

I Forgive You

&

I forgive myself for letting you harm me.

By forgiving you, I release you from our mutual past.

&

By forgiving you, I release me from the past.

By forgiving myself, I am now free of the past

I am sorry for all the time I reacted with anger.

&

I forgive myself for the times and ways I failed to love.

Now is a new moment, forgiveness enables me to open to new possibilities.

&

Forgiveness frees me to have the life that I desire.

What I receive by forgiving is freedom; freedom to free myself from old hurts, freedom to let go of the past. With forgiveness you are able to break free of old established patterns in relationships.

Most importantly, after you have forgiven, there is an opportunity for healing.

Forgiveness allows you to leave what has happened in the past where it truly belongs, in the past. This frees you from constantly needing to relive it or react to it.

It is even possible to develop a new bond and a way of being with the person you have forgiven that is much more satisfying and gratifying than what had preceded.

Forgiveness changes everything because forgiveness changes you.
        – Genevieve Gerard

On the heels of forgiveness comes the chance to build something new and different. You are able to shed the anger that held you captive and limited, and give yourself the ability to move forward in your life. Ultimately, forgiveness permits both compassion and understanding to emerge. Ponder on this!

Namaste,

Genevieve

Difference Between Prayer and Meditation

The Difference Between Prayer and Meditation

Read the Difference Between Prayer and Meditation, Serenity Sunday article by Genevieve Gerard

This article is part of my on-going series on Prayer & Faith and Meditation.

The spiritual journey, no matter the name of the path or the structure of the belief has always contained the techniques of both prayer and meditation.

Some paths include both prayer and meditation, comfortably vacillating from one to the other depending upon the purpose or needs of the moment.

In many ways prayer and meditation are twins, but they are not identical twins. They differ in subtle but significant ways.

When I was first taught to meditate by a Maharishi Yogi; as I was leaving the instruction called an “initiation” back in the 1960s, I recall pondering about the experience I had just had. I remarked to myself that I had previously known the state of consciousness that I had just experienced at the conclusion of a time of deep prayer; a state I had referred to as “prayer beyond words.” Ponder on this!

Even at that young age the universality of the path we take to connect to our Soul struck me. Beyond the connection to our Soul, which I have come to believe is the hearts desire of everyone, exists the desire to connect with a higher source (God), however, you define God.

Each one of us needs time and space for recollection, meditation and calmness…. Thanks be to God that this is so!”
        – Pope Benedict XVI

It is to reach the Soul and connect to God that people along all spiritual paths engage in the practice of both prayer and meditation. And although both prayer and meditation serve a similar function there are differences in both the purpose, method, and outcome of the two practices.

Prayer is you speaking to God & meditation is allowing the spirit to speak to you.”
        – Deepak Chopra

Oprah Winfrey and Deepak Chopra on prayer vs. meditation

Prayer has always seemed to be best suited to times when praise or petition is the need. In times of great need, prayer seems to spring naturally from the human heart as we reach out for help and healing in times of danger, distress, and pain, be it physical or emotional.

In times of trouble we reach automatically for the help and intervention of the Divine, even if we have no sustaining belief in the Divine. It is archetypal in the human experience to reach out, indeed cry out for that which is beyond our human limitations for help and comfort.

Likewise, in times of transcendent joy praise rises spontaneously in our heart. Even if we do not conceptualize what we are praising that welling feeling, praise accompanies the experience of great joy and great love.

I deepen my experience of God through prayer, meditation, and forgiveness.”
        – Marianne Williamson

Meditation is best suited for contemplation, deepening our understanding or quieting the chattering mind and engaging the power of our higher source (Soul) to bring about the desired result. One would meditate for deep relaxation, healing and to invoke the power of our intention using techniques such as visualization.

Meditation is more a conscious approach than prayer and as such garners the best result when entered into with conscious intent and regularity. The continuity of consciousness that disciplined practice of meditation grants makes meditation the technique of choice when one desires a specific outcome, which is why visualization is a technique incorporated into most meditations.

There exists a myriad of techniques of meditation designed by spiritual leaders and masters throughout time to bring the student of meditation to the desired state of consciousness, being or understanding.

In understanding the subtle differences that exist between prayer and meditation, we are empowered to draw from these two ways to connect with our Soul and connect with our Source using whatever method is best suited to our desired outcome.”
        – Genevieve Gerard

Fortunately, we can choose and use whatever technique best meets our needs at the moment, freely guided by the wisdom of our inner nature and our Soul in any moment of time to receive what we need.

I encourage you to explore prayer and/or meditation and see which resonates with you.

Namaste,

   Genevieve
