A Spiritual Solution to Current World Problems

A Spiritual Solution
to the Current World Problems

statue of liberty standing tall and bright with title Stand With Us

I am not a political person.

I consciously avoid even commenting on politics.

However, as a citizen of the United States and the world, it would be disingenuous to stand silent as I watch this great experiment fail.

The seeds of society’s problems have, unfortunately, been growing unchecked and unattended until they have reached a critical tipping point.  It is evident in my mind and heart that it is TIME TO TAKE A STAND and let our light shine.

It is time to ask yourself, “What do I stand for?

Then it is time to consider what you are being called by your moral compass to do to make a stand.

I ask and invite you to turn first to your moral compass to consider this issue because I believe that deep within each of us, there is a certain sense of what is right and an equally clear sense of what is wrong.  And for me, as I begin my day with meditation and contemplation on what I can do to make this world a better place, I feel compelled to issue a call to action.

As I write these words, I freely acknowledge that taking a stand is never easyIt is much easier to go along to get along.

STAND FOR TRUTH

Sadly, as the world has moved forward, values society has long held dear are being eroded.  Truth is under attack.  I say this not as a political statement but as a simple observation of the world as it is today.  If I consider how this happened, I see that as many problems, it was a gradual decay of compromises and acceptances of little lies, accepted because what society has required as acceptable behavior has given way.

The lack of Truth in advertising strikes me first.  The rise of the well-funded Super Packs, greedy Corporations and media/social spin (on the part of all political parties) has taken our society away from requiring TRUTH.

We have been torn down by the sheer volume of lies that we can’t keep up with.

We even have ways that a lie is excused as just a little white lie or an acceptable excuse for bending the truth.  Then, in the very recent past a very strange and new concept has made its way into the mainstream.  That is the concept of “Alternative Facts.”

I ask you what an alternative fact is? A lie? An illusion? A wish? A distortion of the Truth?

As a Spiritual writer, I often ask you to pause the noise of your life to tune in and listen to the wisdom of your Soul, to that inner sense of knowing that will always reveal the Truth.  Now, it is easy to ignore that inner voice.  It is much easier to believe something the media is saying (or our leaders) or something different from what your inner voice is telling you.

Being aware of your Higher Self (your Soul) may require acknowledging all of the little compromises you have made in your life that are not congruent with what you know, deep down, to be right.  It may require you to re-examine concepts that have gone out of fashion in our modern world. I believe the Truth is worth it.

STAND FOR HONOR

Unfortunately, the concept of Truth is not the only one that has been under assault.  There is “honor” that does not even seem to make it into the conversation in today’s world.  The morality codes that we all learned as children, ways of guiding human behavior that go back in time to the known beginnings of time, such as the Golden Rule, have been ignored.

It is not that we don’t still know these codes; it is that morality seems to be vacationing in a world where right is compromised for convenience.  This has led us to a society and an almost unbelievable world.

The United States, which had long been seen as the shining example to Truth, is now being led by a man in 2020 who has, in his leadership, told over 20,055+ well-documented false or misleading claims and mostly only thinks of himself. Yet, many of us repeat and spout his lies (because we have been financially enriched) as if Truth is not real but rather something of political opinion.  It is as if him saying a lie will somehow make it real.  I point this out not as a statement of politics but as a call of consciousness to the people of the world.

Right is still right and wrong is still wrong.  How we treat one another matters.  We are each responsible for what we do and how we treat our planet.
                         – Genevieve Gerard

It is an inconvenient truth that harming others ultimately harms you.  No matter how many excuses you may make for yourself to justify acting against what you know deep in your heart and deep in your Soul to be wrong, you know you are not living what is right.

These compromises with Honor and Truth have been worming their way into our society for a long time.  However, that does not make lies into Truth.  We as Americans have watched somewhat powerlessly as children are ripped from the arms of Mothers who came to America believing in the promise of America inscribed on the Statue of Liberty in our New York harbor.

Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me; I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

This honorable statement has long demonstrated the aspiration of the United States of America.  And although like all hopes we, as a nation, have not always shown the Truth of these words, never before has a political administration had the hubris and shamelessness to amend these words.

Where is the outrage of the public? Where are our Senators, our Congressmen, our advocates? We are supposed to be a representative republic.

This act is one more example of the violation of morals that is currently plaguing our society.  It is one more example of the Golden Rule being tossed aside in favor of money and greed.  It is one more example of how the pure qualities of kindness and compassion are being compromised by the desire and greed that evil has introduced into our world.

We have long known,

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil
is for good men to do nothing.
                       – Edmund Burke

Likewise, history has taught us the vast danger of allowing lies to replace Truth in a society.  Nazi architect Joseph Gobble proved that.

The whole Nazi part of the history of humanity was based upon telling lies so outrageous that they became ignored, even by good people. It is dangerous to see the possibility of history repeating itself.

The amount of documented false or misleading claims by President Donald Trump varies because excuses are made for him by removing from the count lies pundits say may just have been ignorance.  These are just a part of the compromises with the Truth that are being woven into our society by evil.

TIME TO TAKE A STAND

When as Edmund Burke observed, good men (or women) do nothing, they are letting evil triumph. It is time for some accountability.

I am calling on you, who read my words to open your heart and your mind to the wisdom of your Soul and take a stand for Truth and let your light shine.

Take a stand for right human relationships.  Take a stand for what you know is right and speak out against the travesties against justice, Truth, honor, kindness, and compassion that are invading our world today.

It is time for the men and women of Goodwill to take a stand and apply Spiritual Truths to the material corruption of evil in our world.  Right is still right.  Wrong is still wrong.  America has long identified itself as a Christian nation.  I ask you all now, where is the Christian Church in this moral crisis?

We are, as a world and not only as a nation, in an epic conflict between the forces of good and evil.  Human consciousness is at a crucial step in evolution that is bringing these issues to the attention of the world to enable and encourage us to make a stand and grow as a society.

Make a stand for kindness and compassion.  Make a stand for honor.  Make a stand for justice.  Make a stand for right-action.  Make a stand to be able to leave your children and grandchildren a world where good is demonstrated, and evil is defeated.

It is up to you!  You are responsible!  You can make a difference!  You are not powerless!  It is time to let the truth of your spirit shine!

If you have had enough, I am asking you to consider my words a call to action for you to TAKE A STAND.  To listen to your sense of what is right and listen to the voice of your conscience about what is wrong and to honor yourself and honor others by standing up right here, right now, today.

Namaste,

Genevieve

The Power You Unleash When You Dream

The Power You Unleash When You Dream

Unleash Your Dreams by Genevieve Gerard

As the calendar of time shifts from one year to the next the magic of creation is released into the world.

It is a magic you can use to empower your life.

It is by daring to dream that you unleash this magic.

It is by daring to dream that you can explore new possibilities and transform your life.

Your life has a purpose.  There is a reason for your life, a reason held deep within the mystery of time itself.

Every experience you have had in your life, positive and negative has brought you to this moment in the annals of time.  Every success you have had or mistake from which you have learned prepared you for NOW.

When you pause and think about where you are in this moment in your life, something special happens.  Your understanding can be freed as you realize that no matter what mistakes you may have made in life, they are all in the past.  And in some miraculous way, they have prepared you for exactly what is being created to come into manifestation right now.

As the days of time unfold from last year to this new year it is time to consider the life you have dreamed of.  Your dreams, your desires are the treasure map of your life’s adventure.  This is especially true, and especially powerful when you take this time as an opportunity to align your life with your Soul purpose.

Your Soul is the part of your spiritual anatomy that has vast power.  And, it is your Soul that engages you in your co-creator role with God.  Being a spark of Divine Light, both grants you certain privileges and calls you to certain responsibilities in your life.

Fuel Your Dreams

Even your Angels, especially your Guardian Angel are aligned with your Soul Purpose, your life purpose.

Amazingly your dreams provide the revelation of guidance that is unlocked and unleashed when you dare to dream.  So, take some time during this transition from one year to the next to consider what you want, what you need and let your creative mind fuel your dreams through your imagination.

Dreaming is the perfect tool to ignite your creativity.

Dreaming is a creative exercise when aligned with your Soul and aligned with Divine Will in your co-creator role as a “child of God.”
                     -Genevieve Gerard

Dreaming activates the universal laws of creation.  It can be powerful beyond your understanding.

Empower Your Life With Your Dreams

As I write these words to you, I am aware that in order for you to empower your life with your dreams there may be some things you need to address to unlock the full potential of using your dreams to create your life.

You may have been criticized in your life for being a “dreamer.”  If so, I ask you to firmly, with clear intention put that criticism in your past.

I invite you to step into the creative role of being a dreamer, recognizing that your dreams can be the blueprint for creating your future.

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.
                      – Eleanor Roosevelt

Active Dreaming

I invite you to engage in an exercise and technique I call Active Dreaming.

I ask you to practice this technique of active dreaming for 5 minutes a day, for the next 21 days.  Before you engage in your practice of Active Dreaming I ask that you prepare yourself with these four simple steps:

  1. Go to a place you will not be disturbed for 5 minutes.
  2. Turn off any background noise that you can so your distractions are minimal.
  3. Place your spiritual journal with a writing implement in easy reach.
  4. As you begin your Active Dreaming Exercise get comfortable, sitting in a chair or couch with your spine aligned, not lying down, with your feet on the floor.

Active Dreaming Exercise

  1. Take a very deep breath and as you draw in the breath draw in vitality and creative life energy. And as you exhale release any stress you may have been holding in your body.
  2.

  3. Then taking in another very deep and relaxing breath let your body surrender to the support of your chair, realizing you are being supported by the chair, which is supported by the floor, which is supported by the earth.

This support is available to you through the Law of Gravity and is part of the support you receive as a child of God.  It is one of many natural laws that are available to help you manifest your dreams.

  4.

  5. For the next few moments, while you actively dream notice that each breath that you take, deep or shallow teaches you and confirms for you that life is providing exactly the amount of air that you need, in exactly the proportion in which you need it for energy and vitality.

Trust that what you need is available for you to create and manifest your life’s purpose, your Soul purpose. Ponder on this.

  6.

  7. Now, as you pause and reflect, consider your life. Consider your dreams and desires.  Let your mind and your imagination run free for at least five minutes.

What would change in your life if you were living the life of your dreams?

    How would that feel?

Let your mind fill in as many details as you can while you engage in this active dreaming exercise.  There are no limits to what is possible in your dream.

Let your mind be free.  Examine and explore ideas you have never considered before.  Suspend all your judgments.

This is a time for creative exploration.  There are no limitations with creative exploration, there are only new possibilities and opportunities.

  8.

  9. Then, release your dreams with no attachment to them. Take another deep and relaxing breath and release with the exhale any fears that may have arisen during your active dreaming time.
  10.

  11. Now, take another few moments to record in your spiritual journal any ideas you may have had that you do not wish to forget.
  12.

  13. Before you return to your normal day and normal activities consciously align your will with Divine Will and call upon you Angels to assist you in manifesting your dreams as long as they are in alignment with Divine Will and for the highest good of all.

You may wish to expand the time allocated to 10 or 15 minutes a day to allow adequate time for your spiritual journal entry.

Then go about your day freely.

Keep up this Active Dreaming exercise as a part of your life for the next 21 days.  You may notice how you are able to see new possibilities and new opportunities more often.  You may notice you have more hope in your heart.  You might observe you have less negative self-talk or are naturally releasing some of your limiting beliefs.

Namaste,

   Genevieve

Revolutionary Simple Acts of Kindness

Revolutionary Simple Acts of Kindness

Read Revolutionary Simple Acts of Kindness by Genevieve Gerard

What if every day you practiced a simple act of kindness?

How would it change your life?  How might it change you?

Kindness is contagious.  Kindness stirs compassion in your heart and stimulates loving sensations.  Kindness can have far-reaching implications.

Today, I am suggesting an experiment to demonstrate the power of Light over darkness, Love over hate and Kindness over cruelty.

Today, I am suggesting that you make the conscious choice to make this world a better place by the deliberate practice of service.

Today, I am inviting you to join a worldwide experiment with kindness.

People everywhere are struggling with fear in the world as threats of nuclear annihilation fill the news airways.  It is common to feel powerless and frustrated as these issues are outside of your sphere of influence.

You cannot change the behavior of world leaders.  I believe you can, however, change your behavior and your life in a way that will make a difference.

I am suggesting that you experiment with a simple act of kindness.

I am suggesting that you choose to bring kindness into the world and then, I am inviting you to observe how powerful you are as you bring about changes in the world around you.

I invite you to share your observations about the difference kindness makes.

I encourage you to become an agent of transformation in the world through your simple acts of kindness. I urge you to watch and observe the effect of your kindness has on the world around you.  I charge you to find the effect your kindness has in your own life.

I am encouraging you to spread your kindness in the world by consciously doing or saying something that is kind to someone else who you know only casually.

It may be a kind and encouraging comment on Social Media.  It has to be sincere, but it can be concise.  It can be a casual compliment to a stranger on the street.  It need not take more than a few seconds of time.

When you act with kindness, each time you do something kind, stop for a second and take a deep breath.  You might want to visualize that the energy that stimulated your act of kindness is going out from your heart to the world as a whole.  You could imagine the kindness starting a wave of love and compassion that will stimulate others to be kind.

When you offer your act of kindness, imagine your Light traveling out to touch the life of another to in some unknown way make their life better.    Your moment of thought and compassion sets a dynamic force in motion, in you, and toward the other person.

No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.
                  – Aesop

Then, pay attention to how you feelNotice how your random acts of kindness are affecting your mood and your sense of well-being.  Observe its impact on any stress in your life.

This simple act of kindness aligns you with your Higher Self (your Soul).  It is an act of service that energetically connects you with the men and women of goodwill all around the world.

It can become a meditative act because by aligning with your higher self, and the forces of goodness, love, and compassion you are choosing to be a force for good on the planet.  You are building and creating Right Relations.

My hypothesis that I am suggesting with this experiment is to prove that by your kindness you are increasing your sense of personal happiness.  You are healing the pain of separateness and alienation that is so much a part of our modern world and society.

Of course, treating your loved ones, friends and family with kindness is always recommended, however; the experiment I am suggesting is to practice kindness to those with whom you have no or only a loose association.

I am suggesting that you try this experiment between now and the end of the month.  If you choose to participate in this little experiment, I would like to invite you to join my Consciousness Community and share your experiences with this experiment in the comments below.

By engaging in simple acts of kindness, you are taking power to transform your world into your own handsYou are being and becoming an active force for goodYou are an agent of Light.

With each kind comment, you make and each kind gesture you perform, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem, you are making a revolutionary difference in your own life, in your community, in your world, to serve Love.

When you are open to Love, and when you demonstrate it in acts of kindness, compassion fills your heart.

When you look at others through the eyes of compassion, their faults and their failures become less annoying and most significantly less disruptive to your sense of peace and personal happiness.

When you consider what act of kindness you can share with someone, you are activating in your heart and mind the transforming power of love and compassion.  Kindness is a way that in an authentic and tangible sense you are receiving by giving.
            – Genevieve Gerard

One of the most beneficial and empowering parts of practicing kindness is that by doing so, you strengthen and refine your ability to Love unconditionally.  You are empowering your ability to understand one another and forgive the foibles and failures of humanity.

And, also by being kind to others, you activate kindness and compassion for yourself.  Being kind and compassion to yourself, being patient and forgiving of your faults can have a life-transforming advantage.

It is in this which the simple acts of kindness can serve to not only make the world a better place but also make your life more successful and happy.

Please share your experiences with this little experiment in consciousness.  Please share this post with anyone you feel would find the empowerment and life transformation helpful.

Together we have the power to make life a little easier for others, and by doing so, for ourselves.   There is no cost to kindness.  There is no harm in compassion.  It is free and freely given.

So, I ask you to try a simple act of kindness.  Like the old bumper sticker used to say “Practice random acts of kindness.”   You never know when your kindness can provide hope, comfort, and strength to someone who has lost their way.

Let your kindness be a living example of Love in action.  Let your kindness be a demonstration of your gratitude and faithfulness.  Spread your Light with Love and kindness wherever you go as an act of service and support of others.

Namaste,

   Genevieve

Joy Is A Spontaneous Expression

Joy Is A Spontaneous Expression

Resolve To Be Joyful photo for Joy Is A Spontaneous Expression blog post

Joy in life is even more important than happiness.

Many issues can impact whether or not you feel happy.  I have often said, and long believed, that happiness is something you bring to life more than you receive from life.

Joy is a spontaneous expression that can permeate your life, adding depth and dimension to the most mundane events and activities.

Joy springs forth in your heart and your mind, not so much from what you are doing but from what you are being.  When you are being appreciative of the myriad of little things in life, joy fills your heart.  It may be as simple as enjoying the cool caress of a breeze on your skin or the fresh smell of the air after a rain.  Thousands of little things in life could easily be ignored as we hurry and scurry through our busy lives.  When we stop to notice the little things in life and appreciate them they can be a wellspring of joy in your life.

Awareness of the world around you seems to be one of the keys and essential elements to bringing joy to your life.  Likewise, gratitude for what comes to your awareness also seems to be a portal to experiencing joy.

What is amazing is that these awareness’s and gratitude’s need not be about major happenings in life. The little pleasures, the simple pleasures, serve to stimulate the wellspring of joy as a natural result of living a normal life.  By being aware of and being appreciative of what is available for you in life, you bring into your life hundreds and even thousands of moments that are joyful.  By the time the day has passed you find that you are, through these simple techniques, living in joy.

Living in joy opens you to a limitless wellspring of understanding and awareness that impacts your personal happiness.

Joy is a spontaneous response to connecting with your Soul.
         – Genevieve Gerard

Joy connects you with the Love and Light that is your birthright as a beloved Child of God.

In my own spiritual and meditative life I began to observe that engaging in life with greater consciousness had an impact on how much joy I had in my life.  By focusing my awareness and expressing my gratitude I expand my understanding of the connectedness of us to one another.  This shift in consciousness led to my life becoming more joyful every day.

This does not mean that I never became upset of sad.  It does not mean I walk through life inside a protective bubble.  Rather, it does mean that the pervading experience in my life, in the midst of the challenges and trials, is one of joy.

The change of perspective that accompanies this awareness is both powerful and profound.  There is an old folk saying, “it does not matter what happens to you, it is how you react to what happens to you that matters.”  This folk wisdom is a key to what opens your life to joy.

Your success and happiness lies in you. Resolve to keep happy, and your joy and you shall form an invincible host against difficulties.
        – Helen Keller

Gradually my experience of joy increased in my life.  I was able to see the many blessings that I came in contact with every day.  Celebration, praise, hope, and promise became common experiences in my life drowning out the voice of fear and leaving in its stead trust and faith.

Knowing that no matter what touched my life each day I could bring forth so much joy, it allowed me to draw the strength to face each dawn excited by the potential of what beauty and blessings were in store for me every day.

Within you is an unquenchable, inextinguishable spark of Divine Light.  It comes through your Soul to be claimed as you take your first breath.  The nature of that spark is Joy.
          – Genevieve Gerard

You can let that divine spark guide your Soul and you can let that Light guide you.  The choice is yours; day by day; moment by moment.  With it, you were given the gift of thought.  Your thoughts and the choices give you the power of co-creatorship with God in your life, through the Universal Law that “energy follows thought.”

Transformation Through Joy

Your life, your success, your happiness, and your joy are a great adventure of consciousness and experience.  It is a magnificent opportunity to learn and grow.  You have the power to transform and change everything and anything you choose.

Embrace the situations in which you find yourself with an attitude of joyous celebration.  Examine your reactions to allow your perspective to focus on the positive.  These choices are uniquely yours.

Within these little choices and decision in life are the keys to joy.  You are never beyond hope.  New possibilities are part of the promise of life.

Mistakes of the past can be immediately released because they are in the past.  From this moment forward you can be free of their tyranny.

Fears that have held you in thrall can be released, right now.  You can take the reins of your life and thoughts, and live the life of your dreams.

This is your life.  This is your great adventure.  This is your life laboratory, your school for consciousness.  There are no limits or restrictions unless you put them there or keep them there.

Let your Joy guide you.  Tune into your Soul, let your higher-self direct you.  It is never too late.  The greatest journey must begin from where you are.  That first step sets off a chain reaction.  Action, combined with intention magnetically attracts what you need, to you.

If you have breath, you have life.  If you have life, you can have hope.  Open your heart and your life to the new possibilities that are available to you.  An old saying that is still true is that “Today is the first day of the rest of your life.”  Claim it.

Live The Life You Desire

There is never a better time to begin living the life you desire; living your life in joy.  Today is your moment.  Now is the call from your heart to embrace the unfulfilled possibilities that lie in the back of your mind.  Begin to manifest the dreams and desires, right here, right now, today.

Be and become all that you are meant to be; all you have ever dreamed of being.  The power is yours.  Rejoice, the time is NOW!  The possibilities are unlimited with joy.

In all of my work and in all that I teach: I wish you an abundance of joy in your life.

Namaste,

Genevieve

The Healing Power of Sleep

The Healing Power of Sleep

Read about the Healing Power of Sleep by Genevieve Gerard

Did you ever wonder why you need to spend a third of your life asleep?

Amazing things happen while your body rests, amazing things that have a profound impact on your waking life.

While your body is at rest healing occurs in multiple ways and on multiple levels.

Just because you are not conscious and aware during sleep does not make your sleep time irrelevant.  What happens when you are asleep is healing and restorative on a physical level, integrative and calming on an emotional level and stimulates both insight and intuition on a cognitive level.

Sleep is a critical time for your being, physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

The third of your life that you spend sleeping is an active and vital part of your life.  It is a time to activate and synthesize thousands of decisions and directions you have generated in your waking hours.  It is the time to set into motion your thoughts and desires.

It is a creative time of manifestation for your consciousness.  The directions of your thoughts throughout the day become the blueprint for your sleep.  During sleep, it is important to harness the power of your mind generated throughout your waking hours.  I believe your life force listens to your dream thoughts and resolves to create in your life what you have directed it to do.

This directing of your life through the power of your thought happens on a very diverse field.  It includes your glands and your organs and even works on an atomic level, shifting your subtle energies to bring them into harmony and alignment with your desires.  For this reason, it is best to reach a state of peace as you enter into sleep.

Sleep is not a time of unconsciousness, but rather is the fertile time in which your mind, your emotions, can align with your Higher Consciousness (your Soul).  Sleep creates a productive and creative time.  While you sleep, as your physical body rests and restores, the autonomic parts of your body are engaged in healing and balancing your hormones which activate a whole host of factors that were created by your emotions and glandular secretions in the day that has just passed.

It is a process of healing your, mind, your emotions, and your body that is a subtle yet powerful part of healing sleep.  Sleep as a healing balm is understood in our collective awareness since the time of Shakespeare.  Sleep is a vital and dynamic part of your day.

For this reason; it is important to learn how to sleep.

The vital and important role of sleep in your consciousness physically, emotionally and spiritual is why I created my guided “Sleep in Heavenly Peace Meditation.”

In addition to what is happening to you physically during sleep is the emotional processing of what you have experienced throughout your day.  This often occurs in the creation of your dreams.  Dreams are certainly the assurance that when your body sleeps your consciousness remains actively engaged.

At times your dreams may seem random or strange.  On other occasions through dreaming, it is clear that you have come to a resolution of a significant life issue.  In your dreams, you may gain insight into something you have been striving to understand and gain mastery over.

Dreams can leave you feeling empowered.  It is often beneficial to record your dreams in a journal to bring into your conscious awareness the insights and information that may have come to you as you sleep.  When you do this as a part of your spiritual and psychological development, many report that their intuition is enhanced and awareness is increased in a dynamic way.  To keep a journal next to your bed and then spend a few moments recording your dreams is a simple morning meditation.  Try it tonight.

It is hard to talk about the process of dreams, especially the healing power of resolution, without mentioning the less than pleasant part of dreaming, nightmaresI believe nightmares are a way of working through and resolving fears.

I have found throughout my life that the more I have consciously worked to transmute, transform and transcend my fears as an integral part of my spiritual and life lessons, the fewer nightmares have plagued me.

I have also found that there is a direct relationship between what I have focused my conscious attention on during the day and the creation of nightmares in my sleep.  For this reason, I discourage people from watching violent or dark movies or television shows or even reading horrifying novels right before bed.

In sleep, your mind processes all of the input of your day that pertains to your positive thoughts and your fears.  Somehow it all goes into the consciousness mixing bowl of your dreams.

A well-spent day brings happy sleep.
      – Leonardo da Vinci

That is why before sleep is a particularly valuable and vital time to say affirmations, especially affirmations that begin with the magic words of “I Am.”  Meditating before you sleep is also something that many people find beneficial and empowering.  And, of course praying just before sleep is a tradition many learned from their early childhood that remains an effective and valuable ritual with which to transition into sleep.

While you sleep your consciousness is often growing and expanding your awareness.  Sleep is a particularly fertile time for incorporating and synthesizing insights you have received in meditation. In fact, I have often found that after a particularly insightful and profound meditation, it is beneficial to take a nap to incorporate your experience.

The National Sleep Foundation recommends the following levels of sleep.

Age and condition Sleep Needs
Newborns (0–3 months) 14 to 17 hours
Infants (4–11 months) 12 to 15 hours
Toddlers (1–2 years) 11 to 14 hours
Preschoolers (3–4 years) 10 to 13 hours
School-age children (5–12 years)  9 to 11 hours
Teenagers (13–17 years)  8 to 10 hours
Adults (18–64 years)  7 to 9 hours
Older Adults (65 years and over)  7 to 8 hours

Many traditions consider sleep as a spiritually enlightening time because your Soul is free from the constraints of your ego and personality. Using your dreams as a portal to wisdom is common among the teachings of many of the world’s people. It is particularly valued by indigenous and spiritual teachings across the world.

Sleep is the best meditation.
      – Dalai Lama

Consciously considering what you do to prepare for sleep helps this part of your life to be valuable beyond just an opportunity to restore your ability to keep going.  If you consider the times in your life that you have, by necessity, been sleep deprived and how that affects your overall efficiency and sense of well-being, you can realize the significant opportunity for healing and empowerment sleep is.

It is a common experience that a problem difficult at night is resolved in the morning after the committee of sleep has worked on it.
      – John Steinbeck

Each day is divided into a time for doing and a time for sleep.  We all strive to use our doing time wisely and efficiently.  Now empower your sleeping time to be the blessing that it can be.  Sleep time is valuable to your success and your happiness.  You want to make it a productive part of the fabric of your life.

When you awaken with the light of the new day, you can place the past behind you and open your life to the promise and unlimited possibilities of a new day brimming with new opportunities!

Sweet Dreams and Rest Well.

How to Use Empathy Effectively

Learning How to Use Empathy Effectively

Read Learning How to Use Empathy Effectively blog post by Genevieve Gerard

Empathy is an ability with many different definitions.

They cover a broad spectrum, ranging from caring for other people and having a desire to help them, to experiencing emotions that match another person’s emotions, to knowing what the other person is thinking or feeling.

According to Simple English Wikipedia, empathy is a word that means that someone is able to share or understand the emotions and feelings of another person.

I believe empathy is a gift.  However, for some who are awakening to their higher power, their Soul, it can be a challenge.

From reading many recent posts on Social Media, it is clear to me that empathy is rarely understood.  Those who are striving to be of help and service to humanity in this powerful time are often unaware of the higher purpose of being an empath and more importantly understand how empathy works.

I wrote this post because,

Learning how to use empathy effectively is an essential part of the process of spiritual awakening.
        – Genevieve Gerard

The openness of your energy field to the emotions and pain of others can be very useful when you are trying to heal another person.  However, when you are only moving through your life and find yourself feeling the pain and feelings that are not your own, it can be confusing.  Part of the process of empathy emerging in your consciousness is for you to learn to identify what comes from your individual consciousness and what is from your expanded consciousness.

There are some truths about empathy that I will explain briefly in this post along with some techniques and practices that can be helpful.

One truth is that spiritual gifts, like empathy, emerge spontaneously.  On the other hand, they may be difficult to integrate into modern life in our modern world.

We do not live in a society where spiritual experiences are explored and talked about or explained in daily life as a natural part of life.  As more and more individuals are facing the challenges of awakening without the support and guidance of a guide or mentor, confusion, and misunderstandings abound.

One of the advantages is this process of awakening is happening too many and not to only one individual.  However, the danger of these phenomena emerging outside of traditional spiritual instruction is the plethora of misunderstanding and misinformation that can be rapidly spread as well-meaning people struggle to teach others beyond what they know.

Recognizing that you know what you know, and recognizing that
you do not know what you do not know — this is knowledge.
       – Confucious

For many centuries, the source materials for volumes of spiritual knowledge have been kept secret and behind a veil.  In earlier times the Ageless Wisdom was revealed under the guidance of a master who worked with an individual or a group of students in a spiritual community that supported the nurturance and unfolding of their spiritual gifts.

In those times and under those conditions empathy was understood as an evolving part of a spiritual journey.

In our modern society, a spiritual journey is often not only misunderstood but since it is an experience outside of “consensus reality”, it may be labeled, diagnosed and medicated away.

If you are undergoing a process of spiritual awakening, it may be helpful to have a guide to the changes of enlightened awareness that can protect you from the danger of the misuse of your gift which can lead to misery and discomfort.

These risks are unique to our times and the trappings of our modern society.  When someone’s empathy gifts are emerging, and they begin to realize they are feeling the pains and emotions of others they most often suffer in silence.  When you share what you are experiencing to those who have never had the same experience you stand a good chance of being judged as crazy.  Worse still, you may judge yourself as crazy.

Fortunately, the emergence of the concept of empathy into consciousness groups gives some framework with which to begin to understand this strange reality.  However, although this loose explanation within social networking groups may be sufficient to provide a label that enables you to realize that you are not crazy, it falls short of teaching you how to use your gift without harming either yourself or those you seek to aid.  Knowing that you are not the only person who feels and experiences other people’s pain and emotions, falls short of teaching you how to use your gift for the service and support of others on their life journey.

Likewise, how empathy can be utilized as a dynamic part of your life journey is still missing.  What you can do to wield your gift from a centered and calm perspective is rarely addressed.  What you can do to protect yourself from the pain and raging emotions of others is a source of much confusion and misinformation.

How you incorporate your empathy into your social relationships is also important.  There are both ethical issues and issues of right relationship that you need to consider.  Your empathetic gift which has the underlying purpose of enabling you to be of help and healing to people can create harm if not used with compassion and understanding.

Certainly helping is the intention of most of those blessed with empathetic vision.  It is doubtful that you would have ever received the spiritual gift of empathy if you wanted it to harm others.

However, in all spiritual endeavors as in all of life, there is always the danger of unintended consequences.  It is to avoid those unintended consequences that it is important that you learn to use your empathy to heal, not hurt.

Most importantly, that also means to learn how to be an empath without hurting and harming yourself.

As I read through the hundreds of problems in posts shared on social media, I have become increasingly aware that adjusting to empathy without an underlying understanding and structure of the why and how to use the gift is a problem for many.

Using the gift of empathy effectively identifies some basic principles that are of great importance to understand.  Learning to recognize what is coming to you empathetically and then being able to discriminate and differentiate it from your personal thought reactions and feelings is an important first step.

Discernment and discrimination are of vital importance to use your gift of empathy in a way that both is of healing help to those around you without creating harm or hurt in your life.

Meditation is a valuable tool in helping you to do this.  It is also important to have a way to transcend, transform and transmute those emotions in yourself, and as a healer in others.  Part of being an effective healer and efficient as an empath is learning mastery of your emotions. Ponder on this.

Understanding your emotions is a significant step in your spiritual evolution, and it is often a challenge that happens concurrently with the emergence or increase in the spiritual gift of empathy.

Mastering your emotions is a significant life challenge.  Taking that mastery to a level where you can work with healing the emotions of others requires a deeper understanding of the nature of the emotional body and how you interact energetically with others.

Feel Free of All Negative Emotions

Understanding emotions are so important that in my body of work I created two different products from the teachings of the Ageless Wisdom to explain emotional transmutation.

The shorter (10 minute) version is called, “I Am Feeling Free.”  It allows you to learn to calm strong emotions and transmute fears and doubts. The longer and more technically complex guided training called “Feeling Free” takes about 20 minutes and is a guide to feeling free forever of all negative emotions.

Check out these short guided trainings on Amazon:

Feeling Free
Guide to Feel Free Forever of All Negative Emotions

Both involve learning to master your emotions and transmute and transform the energy.  Feeling Free is especially valuable for an empath because when you do it with the added intention of clearing and raising the emotional energy of everyone in the room it impacts the experience of everyone as a healing event.

Empathy Is A Gift

What is most empowering and significant to understand about being an empath is that not only are you aware of the emotions and hurts of others but that the purpose of that awareness is to empower you to help heal those hurts.  That is why empathy is considered a spiritual gift, and not as you may fear it to be a spiritual curse.

Using the universal law that “energy follows thought” makes intention a most powerful tool for an empath.  Part of the education of an empath is to enable them to use their empathy as a healing tool for the betterment of othersThat is the higher purpose for which the gift is available to Lightworkers and Light-bearers.

It is important to understand that as an Empath when you transmute, transform and transcend your negative emotions you (with intention) have the power to impact the vibration and emotional pain of all who are around you.  That is why Empathy is a gift and power you must learn to use wisely with discrimination and discernment.

How to Use Empathy Effectively

Meditating upon these issues is helpfulClearing your emotional field is essential. Understanding how to do that and incorporating emotional mastery into your life as a healer is also one of the keys.

Compassion and respect are essential elements of using your empathetic gift.  Practicing kindness and learning to be non-judgemental are attributes that are important to master.

Recently, as a lifetime student of the Ageless Wisdom, and a lifelong meditator who is also a healer and an empath, I have been feeling directed to offer an opportunity for empaths to learn and grow into how to better understand their gift.

Since I can only explain and write so much in a blog post, I am willing to offer my experience and wisdom as a longtime counselor, life coach, and healer, to teach and train those interested in learning to master their empathic gift through a series of webinars.

I will begin with a general webinar for those who need and desire this informationIf you are interested, you are invited!

Please simply join my community email list (I will only send out things occasionally and promise never to flood you with email) if you would like to be notified about the webinar.  When the time is right, I will then contact you personally by email to invite you to join the online event.

Out of the first empathy webinar event (and experience) and based on the needs and interest of the participants, I will develop a series of educational webinars on How to Use Empathy Effectively.

I trust the wisdom of the universe to attract to this event those who can grow and learn from it.  I encourage you to trust the knowledge of your internal guidance to know if this is something that would benefit you or a close friend.

If you are interested in learning more about how empathy works and how you can master your empathy gift, please opt-in above with your email and I will notify you about the webinar and any further articles I write on empathy.

You, as an empath have been given a powerful ability to having a healing presence and impact on those around you.  But you need to learn how to use your gift without taking on the emotions and pains of those you endeavor to help and heal.

To not learn that mastery and the Ancient Wisdom can make empathy a painful journey in a modern world where what you are experiencing is outside of the understanding of the world around you.

As a longtime empath, helping those who are awakening with the gift of empathy to understand it and use it effectively is something I have been directed to do in my meditations.  If you wish to learn more about How to Use your Spiritual Gift of Empathy, these webinars are for you.

Act As If

Read Acting As If blog by Genevieve Gerard

Act As If . . .

Within the teachings of the Ageless Wisdom is a very powerful tool you can use to transform your life into the life you desire.

It is Acting As If what you want already is.

Acting As If uses and combines many of the laws and universal principles of which I have previously written. Energy Follows Thought and the Law Of Attraction are two of the most important that become activated when you Act As If.

Acting As If is a great way to bring into your life the events and circumstances that you want and need.

The creative power of the mind is impressive when activated. To use that creative force to fashion the life of your dreams is what the power of positive thinking and positive action is all about.

A great many subtle factors go into being successful with any of these techniques. Perhaps one of the most significant things to realize is that the creative potential of the mind works when you are sending the thought signals of what you want. However, it also can work when you have fears and worries.

The creative power of the mind does not stop to evaluate the content of the directions it is receiving. That is up to you. You can choose to bring into your life what you desire (both good or bad) at any moment in time.

The best way to achieve your outcome is to act as if you have already reached it – live your dreams now and let reality catch up.”
      – Roger Ellerton

At times it may require releasing your fears and acting on faith so that you do not bring those fears into reality. What is wonderful is that you can choose not to be limited by your fears.

Acting As If is a dynamic technique to keep the creative aspect of your mind focused on manifesting what you desire. When you Act As If what you want and need is already happening you help focus your creative mind. The attention to what it takes to Act As If clarifies your intention and colors in your thoughts with valuable details.

Clarifying what you are invoking when activating the Law of Attraction is often an effective mechanism. Many have found creating a vision board or a mind map to be helpful. The more details you can envision and more in tune with the feelings you want to experience once you have manifested what you need, the easier it is to keep your mind focused on the outcome you desire. Ultimately, you still have to take action on those thoughts to create your new reality.

I was speaking to a coaching client of mine recently whose life experiences just demonstrated this. My client had recently transcended her fear sufficiently to let herself be open to the abundance of purchasing a new car. This was a big step for her. Within days of making the purchase and living in gratitude, her employer, who had originally only had contract work available, came to her and offered her a permanent position that had just unexpectedly become available. Her act of faith was rewarded by what she needed coming to her almost instantly.

To efficiently Act As If, it is important to envision what you want to manifest and become, using all of your senses. So, to help you manifest the life of your dreams, today I am suggesting a smorgasbord of techniques you can use to empower Acting As If.

  1. Create a Mind Map or Vision Board to use when you are Acting As If. I suggest that you fill in as much detail of how your life will be when the goal or dream you desire has manifested. This detail will serve as a guide to your behavior when you are Acting As If.
  2. Declare your intention by identifying an “I Am” statement. Think about the identity you are creating. As an example, “I am a successful _________,” “I am competent in _________,” “I Am an effective __________.” In this use of an “I Am” statement you are focusing on your role in demonstrating your goal.
  3. Whenever you “catch yourself” worrying, being fearful, or having any doubts about manifesting your needs and desires, stop and focus your thoughts on what you are striving to create and release the fears. This clearing of the negative self-talk is the key to making this technique work. In the link below, I offer a powerful 10-minute “I Am Feeling Freemeditation that can help you learn how to calm strong emotions and transmute fears and doubts.
I Am Feeling Free Meditation Download by Genevieve

Now, in each moment of the day, in what you do and how you respond to every situation and circumstance that presents itself to you, Act As If what you desire and need is already a reality.

William James altering their attitudes of mind quote

Remember that consistency and repetition add power to this technique. This is a state of mind, you must act and live your life As If you already have accomplished your goal and feel what it would feel like when you did.

What you believe and present to the world as a fact that you know and believe in your being, becomes a reality. Then, the more you can manifest what you desire and need, the more real it becomes.

Act as if you are poised and confident. Act as if you already have it!

Many layers go into the creation of your identity and your reality. This technique of Acting As If will empower you to be and become all that you are meant to be.

Using meditation and affirmations are also helpful. Confirming that what you are focusing upon is in alignment with your life purpose or your Soul purpose eases the way. This is your life and your thoughts, and your actions are what determine what your life will be. Today, you are exactly where you believe you should be. Ponder on this!

You have unlimited choices and before you are unlimited possibilities.
      – Genevieve Gerard

It is never too late to live your dreams. Whatever mistakes you may have made in the past are now over. When you relegate them to the past, you free yourself from having to repeat them. What is important is to live in the present moment.

Letting go of what has been and is now past is important in opening your life to the potential that is available in the future that has not yet been created.

It is to create that positive future and to fulfill the life of your dreams where the As If technique is most valuable. It immediately opens new doors and new opportunities.

It is wise to clear away the residuals of your past as soon as possible, so the slate is as clean as you can make it. One of the most dynamic and freeing ways you can transform your life is by forgiveness. Forgiving someone of their transgression against you frees you from being trapped in the past. It also releases the anger, the hurt and the sense of betrayal that can keep you in a victim role.

Self-forgiveness is also an important piece of becoming free to accept and manifest your new life. Often forgiving yourself is significant in freeing your life to move forward because it is common to be angry at yourself for letting the person you need to forgive do you wrong.

Most of the time, you failed to protect yourself or assert yourself. It is that you need to forgive. When the forgiveness has been accomplished, your life is more open to creating the reality you have chosen. The obstacles that you were holding onto are now swept away.

I encourage you to use this tool today to create the life that you want.

Your life is before you waiting to be manifested and enjoyed. Consider what you desire and begin living it today. Today is, after all, the first day of the rest of your life; celebrate it.

Namaste,

Genevieve

Read my Top 12 Lessons My Dog Bentley Is Teaching Me

In the course of life, teachers come from everywhere.

One of the most amazing things is what lessons we can learn from life about consciousness from our furry friends.

They are often an example of ways of “being,” that provide an important example in life.

Interestingly, with the amazing synchronicity that a teacher appears when a pupil is ready, it seems that each animal that comes into your life has their own unique things to teach you.

The only creatures that are evolved enough to convey pure love are dogs and infants.
       – Johnny Depp

In December of 2013, I wrote a post“10 Things I Have Learned About Consciousness From My Dog Silky.”

When Silky passed away in July of 2014, I sorely missed the companionship and source of unconditional love and devotion that is the wonderful nature of dogs.

Dogs are our link to paradise. They don’t know evil or jealousy or discontent.
     – Milan Kundera

A little while ago I adopted a little white rescue dog, Bentley.  He is a pure breed Maltese, known as the “ancient dog of Malta,” and he has his own personality and with it, his own life lessons to teach

As I did in 2013, I thought I would share with you some of the wisdom I have learned from my new dog, Bentley. Just added an extra 2 bonus learnings!

Top 12 Lessons My Dog Bentley Is Teaching Me:

  1. I deserve to be loved
  2. I can ask for what I need with complete trust that it will be provided.
  3. My love is shared spontaneously and joyfully confident that it will be appreciated and returned.
  4. I do not waste my time on guilt or shame if I make a mistake I just move on to whatever is happening next.
  5. I am confident that I am loved and that I deserve to be loved.
  6. Life is too short to not have fun with the occasions provided for play.
  7. I will trust people until they show me that they cannot be trusted.
  8. I am open to new friendships and welcoming to new possibilities and new opportunities.
  9. Love is both my nature and my joy.
  10. I can be quiet and peaceful, calm and serene relaxing both my mind and body at will. (I never worry about anything)
  11. I appreciate absolutely everything that I receive and trust in the abundance of life to bring what I need when I need it.
  12. I come to each new day joyfully with no fears or limiting beliefs.

As I wrote this I realized that each fur baby who comes into your life is a unique expression of themselves.  If a domestic animal blesses your life, I encourage you to observe them from the perspective of what you can learn from them and what they have come into your life to teach and give you.

I invite you to post your comments and observations below this post.

The love we share with our pets is special.  They bring so much joy and comfort into our life and ask so little in return.  They are a special blessing in life and teach us how to love completely and unconditionally.

I once read a description of Heaven that said that Heaven is where every dog you have ever loved comes to greet you.  That would certainly make your entry to the pearly gates a celebration of Love.

A Serenade to the Dawn

A touch of morning pink enters the sky.

Joy blooms in my heart.

There is so much promise in that gentle blush.

Quietly the new day dawns.

The clouds of yesterday storms transform with hope.

The Light is victorious.

New possibilities come into my mind.

I pause to dream.

What can I do with this new opportunity to make manifest what I desire?

Softly my Soul whispers, seize the day with joy.

Spread your Light, give your Love.

All is well in the peace of this potent time.

Conquer Discouraging Thoughts and Feelings

6 Tips to Conquer Discouraging Thoughts
and Feelings

Read 6 Tips to Conquer Discouraging Thoughts and Feelings by Genevieve Gerard

No matter how positive we try to keep our thoughts, at times, we become discouraged.

The very word discouraged gives us a clue, both in where the problem exists and in what we need to do to resolve it.

To become discouraged is to face a situation without the courage and fortitude that you usually maintain.

Here are some simple tips to conquer your discouraging thoughts and feelings during these times of concern:

Tip 1:

To transcend this feeling, it is first important that we recognize that it is a feeling.  Whereas thoughts have the power to create and transform our world, feelings are only fleeting expressions.

Tip 2:

It is important to let your feelings wash over you and then be released, without confusing them with thoughts or empowering them by believing they are a reality.

A feeling has validity only in the brief moment of time in which it is experienced and is not truth.  It is only a feeling.  To become discouraged implies that you have allowed your feelings to rob you of the courage and the enthusiasm that fuels your life adventure.

He who is not everyday conquering some fear
has not learned the secret of life.
        – Ralph Waldo Emerson

The simple understanding of the nature of our feelings and the ability to differentiate them from our more powerful force, thought, is an important step in helping us use the creative power of our thoughts positively.

Our human nature is to jumble our thoughts and feelings together, mixing them up and then all too often, granting a feeling more gravitas than it deserves.

Tip 3:

To define the difference between feeling and thought is an important step in limiting the influence and scope of a negative experience, without denying or ignoring it.

By accepting and acknowledging a feeling, even and especially a negative feeling, and then limiting it to its true scope, we are empowering our life. This allows the positive aspects of the principle of “energy follows thought” to be harnessed for the power and control of our intention.

If we experience the emotion (in this example dis-couraged) and then acknowledge that it is a feeling, we can let it flow over us without harm.  Experiencing the feeling and then releasing the feeling, prevents you from being trapped in your feelings.

Tip 4:

Emotion, by its very nature, comes and dissipates very quickly, much like diving into a deep pool of water.  Like a dive, you enter deeply into the emotional waters for a brief minute and like a dive, it is important to rise out of the waters so you can take a new breath and bathe in the sunlight.

It is when you take this fleeting experience of emotion and empower it with your thoughts, and all too often your fears, that you feed your fears.  Living in fear of the future or past brings you out of the present moment and creates the problems of negativity in your life.

When a feeling is kept within the confines of the present, you can experience it without it causing harm.
        – Genevieve Gerard

If immediately upon recognizing a negative feeling you identify it as a feeling, not repressing it, but releasing it immediately as feelings are by their nature designed to do, you begin your mastery of life.  If you then put the feeling into a reality or truth test, you are well on your way to conquering your fears.

Tip 5:

If you ask yourself the questions, “Is this the truth?”, “Is this real?”, “Is this what I think or only what I feel?”, you are well on your way to releasing any negativity or damage that having the emotion can do.

Do not give in too much to feelings. A overly sensitive heart is an unhappy possession on this shaky earth.
        – Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

This little exercise to determine the difference between what is real and what is unreal can be done in just a few seconds.  This reality check  then frees you from the tyranny of believing that what you are feeling is reality, while still honoring and respecting the validity of a feeling, as only a feeling.

To distinguish between thoughts and feelings and to then master the thought so the negativity is not empowered to sabotage your life is a powerful tool.  Learning to harness your command of your feelings puts you in the co-creator role in the universe, under the principle that “energy follows thought.”

Practicing these tips and techniques and understanding these principles, are an important step in life mastery.  Use them well.  Practice them often.

Tip 6:

You can transform, transmute and transcend any and all negative emotions.  To do this, it is important that you acknowledge the feeling while you also acknowledge your mastery over it by letting it have its moment, but not giving it the additional power of thought and especially fear.

In my “Feeling Free” guided meditation, I give an in-depth explanation of a very powerful technique to move your energy from feeling to resolution.

It is a technique that once learned can be practiced anytime and anywhere to gain mastery over your most troublesome and limiting emotions.

It is a technique that earlier in my journey I used many times in a day.  It is a technique that I use frequently in my life now.  To use awareness to move, transcend, transmute and transform the strong emotions of fear and anger, gives you freedom in your life.

I Am Feeling Free Meditation MP3 by Genevieve Gerard
This technique is one I have found to be so important in empowering people that I created a simpler and shorter version “I Am Feeing Free.”

To be able to experience your emotions without letting them take over your life is a key to mastering whatever challenges come your way. It is a strength that frees you to become all that you are meant to be.

These tips and techniques help you be in the NOW and embrace the new possibilities and opportunities that life brings before you without the burden of your fears, or limiting beliefs that have entrenched themselves from old feelings that can be released and resolved

You can have your emotions, freely without them creating problems and limitations that linger beyond their moment of time.

I encourage and invite you to conquer any discouraging thoughts while you experience and express your emotions, but remain the director and designer in charge of your life.

Namaste,

Genevieve Gerard

A Mindful Breath

A Mindful Breath

Read "A Mindful Breath" by Genevieve Gerard

Breath has long been used by those who teach meditation as a portal into consciousness.

Breath integrates your mind-body relationship by helping you to release stress and calm your mind while working with your natural physiology to relax.

To use your breath mindfully and consciously can be a powerful way to empower your life.

Every breath we take, every step we make can be filled with peace, joy, and serenity.
              Thich Nhat Hanh

Today, I will lead you through the technique of mindful breathing. As you sit, you can use this technique as a little consciousness shift in the midst of your day.

You can use this mindful breathing exercise as often as you like, and do it as often as you need. The awareness and stress release it brings will be effective almost immediately.

This technique only involves breathing, which certainly you do all of the time. However, I take this technique one step further to increase your consciousness and your awareness by breathing mindfully.

I suggest that to experience a mindful breath most effectively that you, as much as you are able, set aside 5 minutes or so without distractions or interruptions. If possible mute your phone. If you can, close your door and ask your co-workers or family to give you a few undisturbed minutes.

Let yourself calm your mind and open your heart as you do this simple mindful breath meditation.

To quiet the mind of meaningless chatter, to calm the emotions to peaceful repose and then to receive the Transcendent Love of the Soul is the joy of meditation that is available anytime, anywhere you are, once you learn how to meditate daily.
              – Genevieve Gerard

A Mindful Breath Meditation

To begin, sit up straight, with your spine vertically aligned.

Along your spine, about 2-3 inches behind your physical spine, are energy centers that are called chakras. As you align your physical spine imagine that all of your energy is also aligned.

You might be aware of the sense of being in alignment that results from aligning your spine.

Place your feet on the floor. This helps you relax. It also helps you ground your energy and be mindful of the connection to the flow of the earth’s energy.

Consciously and with intention, let your energy gently come to center in your heart.

Take a deeply relaxing and centering breath and as you do so consciously enter into this present moment. Let the past go into the past where it truly is. Bring your awareness into the NOW. You are right here, right now. It is right now, right here.

Begin, by inhaling another really deep breath, bringing the air in through your nose. Relax your diaphragm and let the mindful breath begin energetically at your solar plexus chakra.

Then, bring the air into your chest and as you do this consciously open the energy of your heart to expand and open.

Then bring the breath into your lungs, all the way to the top of your lungs, letting your lungs expand and letting your whole being expand. Bring the breath in; filling your lungs as fully as you are able, bringing the air into the upper lung until it is just below your shoulders.

When you have filled your lungs as fully as you are able, release the breath through your mouth until you have released all of the air.

This is a relaxing breath. You might already be mindful of how much more relaxed and at peace you feel, having fully experienced a full breath.

With the release of the breath, you can also release any tension or anxiety you may have been holding.

Let your breathing return to normal.

As you breathe normally, be mindful that you are the one breathing in and you are the one breathing out.

Be aware that your body has the wisdom to take in with every breath exactly what you need and to let go of what no longer serves you.

Before you take another deep and relaxing breath, come consciously into the present. Again, consciously put the past behind you and relax. As you pause, appreciate the magnificent power and unlimited potential that is available to you, right here and right now.

When you affirm that the past is truly now behind you, realize that it has no further power over you, or influence over you, except what you choose to give it.

What will be the future is just beginning to be created, as you let yourself relax and reside in the peace and the presence of the eternal NOW.

It is in the eternal NOW that your Higher Self resides. This moment, this peace, this presence is available to you. It responds to your invocation and invitation.

When you are ready, begin to draw in another deep relaxing and healing breath, in through your nose starting at your diaphragm, through your solar plexus. Let the breath clear away any tension or stress you are holding there. As you bring the breath into your chest to your heart chakra, let your heart fill with love as you open your heart to receive love in and give love out.

Then bring the breath to the top of your lungs, drawing in as much air as you can hold.

Then as you release this breath, through your mouth, it may form a sound like a sigh as you let go of any stress or concerns and let yourself relax, releasing with the breath any tension or anxiety you may have been holding, letting it completely drift away.

Observe and be mindful of what you are feeling and experiencing.

Observe that you are the one breathing in and breathing out. You are the one who is experiencing the whole cycle of your breath. Know that you can choose to breathe with control or naturally.

Now, breathe naturally not attempting to control your breath, allowing your breath to direct how much you bring in and how much you let go of that you no longer need. You might notice a calm and peace filling you at this time. You might be aware that you are more present and aware.

Remember, having consciously released the past you have opened to the profound peace and potential of the eternal now. You are now open to the possibility of creating a new future that incorporates more of your purpose in life and fulfills your heart’s desire.

While taking one more really deep relaxing and filling breath with intention, invoke and invite the Presence of your Higher Self.

Imagine a golden Light coming from your Higher Self, infusing the air you are breathing in deeply.

Let this Light circulate through your whole being with your breath through your solar plexus. Let it calm you, releasing your fears and frustrations with its healing Light.

As the breath circulates from your lungs to your heart and from your heart throughout every atom of your body, the healing light balances you, restores and refreshes you.

As it moves from your lungs to your heart and throughout your whole physical body and energy body, accept the healing power and the profound love into your conscious awareness, into your heart and mind.

As you exhale, breathe out and release any negative thoughts or fears.

With each exhale, release any limiting beliefs that keep you from expressing the magnificent and full being that you truly are.

Now sit in silence and receptivity. Use this interlude to listen for the still prompting of your Higher Self.

In this pause you can offer up any issue or concern on which you would like greater insight or understanding from the guidance of your Higher Self.

Let your breathing return to natural. Bring your attention and awareness back to your physical body.

Observe the background sounds that surround you. Become aware of the smells, the quality of the light, and observe how you feel. Let your mind return to this present moment.

You might notice how much more relaxed and centered you feel. You might feel more empowered and aligned in your being.

To finish up, give gratitude to your Higher Self for any insights and clarity you may have received in this mindful breath meditation.

               – GG

I invite and encourage you to practice this mindful breathing meditation often and let your body and mind relax and your heart be comforted.

Namaste,

LOVE Is An Action Word

LOVE is an Action Word

Read Love Is An Action Word Wisdom Wednesday Blog by Genevieve Gerard

This post is part of my ongoing series on Love.

As I am sitting in meditation pondering what to write and teach about, I realize that many people in the world do not understand the relationship between loving as a feeling and love that makes life an exciting and amazing exploration of relationship and togetherness.

The phrase “love is an action word” came into my mind attached to a myriad of lessons and impressions about love and loving.

I shall try to unravel and share the wisdom and implications of this revelation with you today, lessons about love.

Love in action takes love from being just the emotions of love, into being a guide for your love relationships.

It supports and encourages your loved ones in coming into the fullness of their being. It supports their journey, even when it goes in a direction you may not personally desire.

Love is, of course, a powerful and dynamic force that has the power to transform your life and fill you with incredible joy and fulfillment.

Certainly “falling in love” is a peak experience in anyone’s life. For some love lasts a lifetime as cherished support that permeates their lives.

However, for others love becomes a source of agony, riddled with pain and sorrow, marked by disappointment and betrayal.

Love is certainly a complex emotional energy-riddled with a great many differing aspects. Although it is perhaps one of the most important issues in life, it is something that everyone assumes you know how to do.

In my experience, and my many years of teaching and coaching people to have a happy and successful life, I have realized that there is much about love that is not easily understood.

My meditations, and I hope my writings, will open you to a new way of considering love.

What It Means To Love

The very word love has so many variations to it that ancient Greeks divided love into multiple words.

Here is what Wikipedia says about these Greek love words:

Agápe means “love: esp. brotherly love, charity; the love of God for man and of man for God.” Agape is used in the biblical passage known as the “love chapter,” 1 Corinthians 13, and is described here and throughout the New Testament as brotherly love, affection, goodwill, love, and benevolence.

Éros means “love, mostly of the sexual passion.” The Modern Greek word “erotas” means “intimate love.” It can also apply to dating relationships as well as marriage. Plato has Socrates argue that eros helps the soul recall knowledge of beauty, and contributes to an understanding of spiritual truth, the ideal “Form” of youthful beauty that leads us, humans, to feel erotic desire – thus suggesting that even that sensually based love aspires to the non-corporeal, spiritual plane of existence; that is, finding its truth, just like finding any truth, leads to transcendence.

Philia means “affectionate regard, friendship,” usually “between equals.” It is a dispassionate virtuous love, a concept developed by Aristotle. Philia is expressed as loyalty to friends, family, and community, and requires virtue, equality, and familiarity.

Storge means “love, affection” and “especially of parents and children.” It is natural affection, like that felt by parents for offspring.

Unfortunately, in modern society, we only have one word that is supposed to fit all forms and aspects of love and we have romantic books, films and media products that seem to go out of their way to define love in a way that creates unrealistic expectations about what it means to love.

All too often, this fairy tale fantasy about love leads to the expectation and belief that when you love someone they want exactly what you want, that in some way doing what you need gives them what they need. This fallacy leads to many broken hearts.

As I pondered further about these love issues, the phrase, “Love is an action word” loomed in my consciousness.

To say ‘I love you’ is often easy.
To demonstrate that love in action is much more powerful.
        – Genevieve Gerard

Put Your Love Into Action

What does that mean, put your love into action? How does just considering that concept change how you act with someone you love?

These are all valuable questions to ask yourself. There is no primer for how to love or what it means to really love someone. And, there is a lot of glamors and illusion surrounding love. In fact, in spite of how very important love is in life, there is very little available about how to truly love another.

To love and manifest your love for a beloved in a way that communicates to them that you love them requires action. To act in a loving way in the midst of your needs and their needs often requires sacrifice, clearly involves taking the time and effort to understand what they want that is different from you and what they need that is different from your needs.

Because love is such a vast, multi-dimensional and powerful force in life with so many distinctive and differing forms, it, unfortunately, falls into a category of everyone believing it is something that just comes naturally. However, you only need to consider the number of loves and lives that have crashed and burned, to realize that this is far from true.

This blog post, this concept, is only a drop in a vast ocean of need. Even so, I think “Love is an Action Word” is an important concept and an important way to empower your relationships and your life.

It is important to tell someone that you love them, for to feel loved is a deep longing in the human psyche. To tell someone you love them reinforces a lot of wonderful energies. Moreover, when you back up what you are saying by what you do with them and for them, by supporting and encouraging them, it is powerful indeed.

To make your love into an action word, to behave in a loving way that manifests that love into the world, is a way that can have a profound influence on the success of a loving relationship and the happiness of both you and your beloved. It requires extending beyond your needs to the consideration of who they are and what they need. In this way, you can honor and cherish them.

Immature love says, I love you because I need you.
Mature love says, I need you because I love you.
        – Erich Fromm

To manifest love into action requires stepping outside of yourself, your needs, and your thoughts and take a fresh look at who they are. This honesty with yourself and honest consideration of who they are, and what they want or need that is distinctive and different from what you may want or need, is active loving. It demonstrates the respect that is affirming for them.

Doing this also avoids the senseless sacrifices that are often made in the name of love. All too often people make sacrifices for someone they love without this step.

When sacrifices are made without thought and consideration of what they truly need, or are really asking for, it is possible for you to have made a real sacrifice and find it is not appreciated.

Rather than being hurt or disappointed by this response, consider your sacrifice in the context of whether or not it was what was really needed or being requested.

To demonstrate love in an action that considers who your beloved is, separate from you is potent. It does require stepping outside of your perspective and considering the perspective of someone other than yourself. It also means loving unconditionally. This may not be an easy or natural thing to do, which is why it is so significant. This is why I say, it is putting love in to action.

Unconditional Love Meditation MP3

To help you get in touch with your ability to love unconditionally and to be freed by forgiveness I created my Gift of Unconditional Love meditation. This meditation will help heal the hurts in your heart and open you to a source of love and grace that aligns your mind and your emotions with your Soul and invites you into a community of consciousness to help make the world a better place.

Sadly, all too often, the giving in a relationship falls into the tragedy of O. Henry’s tragic story “The gift of the Magi.” You may recall that this story of loving sacrifice ends with the irony of lovers both left with less by their great sacrifice for the other.

When you love someone, I recommend considering them,
what they need, what they desire, and
then take the step of demonstrating that love by action.
        – Genevieve Gerard

Think of the little ways you can take action to make the life of your loved one a little better, a little easier. These need not be big things and need not cost money. Little considerations, small kindnesses that honor and support the other are all demonstrations of love.

These little gestures may not even be consciously observed by the one you love, however they will establish an atmosphere of love and support that builds and becomes more tangible with each active expression of your love. To truly understand and acknowledge and honor the person you love as a unique individual, who although they have joined their life circumstances with you, is a dynamic way of demonstrating your love.

It may require forgiving things they have done that you do not understand. Seeing your loved one as who they are, different and separate from you. This differentiation and clarification is the first step in learning to love unconditionally.

This requires thought and consideration. It is all too easy to fall into the pattern of projecting your thoughts and feelings onto your beloved and then expect them to think and feel exactly the way that you do, or to want exactly what you want.

To give your loved one what they want, especially when it is different from what you want may require sacrifice on your part, but if you have taken the time and the effort to consider what they want and need that is truly meeting their needs and wants, you avoid the all too frequent issues of unappreciated sacrifice because what you have given was not really what they wanted or needed.

Taking love from romantic fantasy’s, to the action required by understanding and respecting that your loved one is separate from and different from you, may shift a lot in your relationship that makes it happier, healthier and more supportive and empowering.

…let’s not merely say that we love each other;
let us show the truth by our actions.
        – Bible, John 3:18

So, in this season of love I invite you to explore and consider who your beloved is as a unique person who is different from you; who may want different things and have needs that make no sense to you. Then, act upon that understanding. Make love an action word in your life and in your relationship.

This shift in your behavior, when you express your love, will strengthen and empower your relationship and your expression of love in a dynamic and life-changing way that can increase the happiness and satisfaction of both you and the one you love. Your love will mature and bring you both greater joy and happiness.

Namaste,

Principles of Goodwill

Principles of Goodwill:

Start With Harmlessness and Right Speech

Read Harmlessness and Right Speech blog post by Genevieve Gerard

Goodwill has been called, a saving force in the midst of world need.

Its keynote is liberation of the human spirit, releasing consciousness into more creative livingness.

The Ageless Wisdom teaches that there are some essential principles to guide the actions of men and women of Goodwill.

They are Harmlessness and Right Speech.

It is significant to note that even before considering doing good in the world, is the instruction to do no harm. This principle of Harmlessness has far-reaching implications.

In order to live by this principle you must consider the consequences of your actions. Those consequences are often far-reaching and can be unintended. In order to live without doing harm, it is necessary to be conscious of both yourself and others.

Perhaps that is why the masters of old instructed by emphasizing this principle. It is significant that in the ancient teachings this principle is paired with the important concept of Right Speech. It is interesting that the principle of Harmlessness requires that you consider not only what you say but often what you leave unsaid.

Words are powerful. They are alchemical aspects of the process of creation. Right Speech is a basic tenant of the similar principles of Right Action and Right Relationship. These are wise guidelines for conscious living.

Any fool can criticize, condemn, and complain – and most fools do. But it takes character and self-control to be understanding and forgiving…

Let’s try to figure out why they do what they do. That’s a lot more profitable and intriguing than criticism; and it breeds sympathy, tolerance, and kindness.”
      – Dale Carnegie

It is certainly easier to avoid damage than to heal or repair it. I have often thought that this fact is the greatest significance of this guidance. The awareness that focusing on these two principles requires accomplishes a great deal in creating a happy life with successful relationships.

As I write these words, I am reminded of Dale Carnegie’s famous teachings in his bookHow to Win Friends and Influence People.” His book was one of the first best-selling self-help books, selling over 15 million copies and was certainly an important guideline for success. It not only focused on business success but personal right relationships with others. Check out a free pdf copy of the book using the link at the end of this post.

Fill your mind with thoughts of peace, courage, health and hope.”
      – Dale Carnegie

Being successful in life is a key to manifesting your life purpose. Being in right relationship with others and successful and mutually supportive and having loving relationships is a cornerstone to that happiness. Note: Being aware of the factors of harmlessness as you observe and consider your behavior can be a powerful guideline for you.

These are active and dynamic principles. When you add your scrutiny of the factors of your behavior and consider Harmlessness and Right Speech as the desired standard by which you live, a myriad of pitfalls and possible future problems will be avoided. I think everyone would agree that it is easier to prevent a problem than to have to fix it later. This is one of the benefits of applying these principles of consciousness to your life.

Applying the principles of consciousness to your life can have far-reaching implications as it affects the life you create for yourself. The principle of energy follows thought is woven into these profound consequences. Managing your expectations of yourself and others can have a profound impact on your personal happiness and success. Conscious living can be its own reward.

So many of the tools that can enhance your life are found in striving for an understanding of the fullness of your life. Being a happy and successful human being is empowered by increasing your awareness of all that you can bring to your life by the integration of your body, your mind, your emotions and ultimately, your Soul.

It is this intention to live consciously that considering the principles of Harmlessness and Right Speech empowers. There are many ways you can influence your life and gain and maintain a happier and more prosperous life that are included in the teachings of the Ageless Wisdom. There are meditation tools and techniques that can help you transcend your fears. In fact, there are practices in meditation to resolve most of the challenges of living. Learning to use them and apply them in a variety of situations and circumstances can give you a real advantage over life.

Key issues of successful living can benefit and be brought into mastery through meditation. The range is as vast as life itself. I believe that life does not create challenges that cannot be resolved. The very fact that you are facing a particular issue or challenge is a sign that there is a lesson, method, practice or technique that can be applied to bring you to a definite solution. This goes for even some of the most difficult issues.

Life is a school, and the curriculum is custom designed to
teach what I need to know exactly when I need to learn it.
      – Genevieve Gerard

Miraculously, each lesson builds on what I have learned before. I am given the opportunity to demonstrate what I have learned and to avoid mistakes I have made previously. This is a dynamic, ongoing process. Ponder on this!

I have found along the way that some of the life’s lessons are simple, once they have been learned. Even if they are simple, does not make them easy. Simple and easy seem to be two very different things. To apply what I have learned and then integrate it into action and relationships makes it real.

Not surprisingly, I have found that my personal struggles, issues, and challenges are also the struggles, issues, and challenges of others. Therefore, what I have learned through trial and error can be provided to help others gain mastery and success. This motivates me to create, write and teach on an ongoing basis. When what I have produced in my body of work helps you and serves others, it gives me a sense of great satisfaction and joy.

Joy, delight, and fulfilling the purpose of your Soul are a significant part of why the adventure of life was created. It seems that we are each on a quest to enlightened awareness. Although it is a personal journey, we travel it together for our mutual success and advantage.

That makes these principles of Harmlessness and Right Speech of paramount importance. It makes forgiveness, of others and as important forgiveness of ourselves essential. It makes releasing unrealistic expectations significant.

It makes eliminating negative criticism of others and oneself important. It focuses us on issues of Right Relationship and all that it entails crucial. It makes it essential that we understand the implications of how what we do affects others paramount.

In the human experience, a fellowship is available for mutual support and mutual benefit. That is the source of many of the greatest challenges and the greatest successes. It is in the awareness of our unity and common humanity that we can fulfill both our personal destiny and our group destiny as humanity.

Harmlessness and Right Speech are just rules of the road to help you live a happy and successful life. Therefore I suggest that you consider your actions and your speech in light of these principles and then observe how much happier and more successful you become.

Plato is said to have recommended this test to consider before you speak.

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it beneficial?

Apply this standard and incorporate these principles of Right Speech and Harmlessness as a test to what you say and do.

The supply of goodwill in the world today is limited only by the minds of human beings. According to the Ancient Teachings as shared by Alice A. Bailey, part of the Plan for this cycle is goodwill for all people, and through all people, goodwill.

The energy of the Will of God serves to awaken the latent Will-to-Good in the souls of all men and women. When dynamically awakened, this Will-to-Good will stimulate the expression of goodwill in all receptive hearts and minds.

Living consciously and incorporating these ancient wise principles can be cornerstones of your success and happiness. Please don’t forget that Goodwill is contagious, and once set in motion it will permeate the world consciousness so that right human relations can be more rapidly established.

Namaste,

 Genevieve

Discover How To Love Yourself

Discover How To Love Yourself

Read Discover How To Love Yourself by Genevieve Gerard

What does it mean to love yourself?

Discovering how to love yourself is an essential part of good mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Loving yourself is also demonstrated by the ways you take care of your body, by eating well, sleeping well and giving yourself the things you need to thrive, to grow and to be successful and happy.

Loving your self is one of the first and important steps to a successful loving relationship.

It might seem that to love yourself is so basic that it is easy and natural. However, in my many years as a counselor and a coach, I have found that for many people this is a challenge.

There is a lot of glamour and illusion about what it means to love. That is true when it comes to relationships and especially true when it comes to loving yourself. Loving yourself, honoring yourself and respecting yourself are foundations of a loving and healthy relationship.

It is said, that before you can love someone else you must first love yourself. So ask yourself what you can do to learn to demonstrate self-love if you realize it lacks in your life. Take the very first step to understanding and acknowledge that you are worthy of being loved, exactly as you are. In one of my previous articles “The Greatest Love”, there are eight affirmations you might find helpful in this process. (I have provided a link to that article at the bottom of this article.)

Relationships with others, especially romantic relationships, all too often fail to result in the fantasy of “happily ever after.” To sustain a real relationship you need to establish realistic boundaries of what you are willing to give in a relationship and what is not acceptable in a relationship. Knowing yourself, respecting yourself and being true to yourself in a relationship is vital.

Shakespeare said it well in Hamlet with Polonius’s advice to his son.

To thine own self be true. And it shall follow as the night to the day, thou can’st not be false to any man.

Being true to yourself and honest in your agreement’s with loved ones are critical.

My grandmother once gave me the sage advice:

Don’t put up with the first day in a relationship behavior you are not willing to accept for the rest of your life.

When I think of the times and ways that I failed to heed that advice, I see many of my life’s mistakes that could have been avoided in friendships, in romances and even in business relationships.

How To Love Yourself

Integral to my grandmothers advice is to both know and respect yourself, and honor and love yourself, as someone who is both deserving of love and who loves themselves.

It is wise to honor yourself, know yourself and then, in any new relationship consider what is acceptable to you. In this way, you are true to yourself, and you are beginning a new relationship open to a future built on honesty and mutual respect. This establishes a context in which you can learn to love one another, grow and thrive together.

A part of learning to love yourself is letting yourself both accept and receive the love that is all around you. There are so many ways that you can demonstrate your love and so many ways that love can enrich your life. Love is something that spans all of your relationships. It guides your relationships with friends, with family, and lovers. It is integral to your relationship with the Divine.

Love is available for you. Open your life to it. Love is all around you. Let yourself accept the love that is coming to you, from relations and God. Your Soul is an unlimited source for loving yourself. I have found you can open yourself to that love and receive that love directly through meditation.

Love truly makes the world go around and is fundamental and reflected in all of your relationships. Loving yourself is a guideline you can use in all of your relationships.

Accepting and appreciating Divine Love affirms that you are a spark of Divine Light, and you are worthy of receiving love. Using the love of God and the love that your Soul brings to you, demonstrates to you what it means to love.

Having received love, you are also a source for love in the world.
        – Genevieve Gerard

An essential element of your ability to love is also your ability to love yourself. In the love that you give, you can be a blessing to others. Ponder on this.

When you love someone, you value and appreciate who they are and accept them. The same is true about loving yourself. You are unique and special. Appreciate, accept and enjoy who you are.

You are not perfect, but there is no reason you should be. Treat yourself with the compassion you would show to another. You have made mistakes in your life. Forgive yourself. There are faults and issues you are striving to resolve. Be gentle with yourself.

You are in an ongoing process of growing, transforming and becoming more and more of the person you are meant to be. Support that in yourself, for yourself.

Life is all about learning lessons. No mistake is meaningless if you have learned from it and grown from it. When you show patience and compassion for yourself, it becomes easier to show patience and compassion to others.

By forgiving yourself, you become a more forgiving person. The compassion and grace that you open up to become available in all of your relationships. As you learn to accept and respect yourself, you are also learning how to accept and respect others.

Learning to love yourself is an ongoing lesson in how to love, that makes you a better person. By loving yourself, you are demonstrating the skills and behaviors that are needed to demonstrate your love to others.

Ultimately, you know love because God loves you unconditionally and this love is shown to you with unlimited forgiveness, profound grace, and acceptance. When you let yourself accept and receive this love you are empowered to be a force for love in the world. You become a better person, a happier person and a more successful person.

You can be love, give love, demonstrate love with respect and honor for both yourself and others. The more you love, the more joy that comes into your life and the happier you become.

Namaste,

The Parable of the Cup of Tea

The Parable of the Cup of Tea

The Parable of the Cup of Tea - Genevieve Gerard

There exists in the stories of those who desire enlightenment, an ancient parable of a wealthy and powerful man who heard of a great spiritual teacher who lived on a mountaintop.

This wealthy and powerful man was used to the best of everything and was used to getting whatever he wanted in life.

One day he resolved that he should have the best, not only in life but also in his spiritual teaching. Having made this determination, he journeyed to the mountaintop to seek out the most famous wise man and engage him as his teacher.

When the man finally arrived at the mountaintop, he was dismayed by the rustic and simple nature of the teacher’s home. The guest quarters were not up to his standards. He found himself rethinking his decision to seek enlightenment from this man. Surely, the best teacher would have a better house. Certainly, the place for those who come to study should have more comforts and more amenities. Finally, full of judgments and disapproval, he decided to stay and see what this wise man had to offer.

The man’s frustration began to increase daily as he was told that the master could not see him yet and he would have to wait. He did not like this at all. After all, he was a prominent and successful man. Didn’t the foolish people who served the master know how valuable his time was? Maybe the disorganized and disrespectful way they ran the business of managing the master’s engagements was why they could not afford a better house for the master, and better quarters for their quests. He resolved to provide the master with this insight as soon as he saw him.

As the days passed, the man found himself growing increasingly impatient and angry. He resolved that if he did not see the master the next day and start to get the instruction he had come for, he was going to leave and look elsewhere for his instruction. After all, this was not the only master on the mountain. He had only come here because he had heard this master was the best. He was certainly reconsidering that opinion.

The next morning a messenger came to tell the man that the master could see him. “About time,” he thought, but now that the time was here, he resolved to meet with the master to accomplish his purpose of beginning his enlightenment instruction.

He was delighted that he was served a steaming hot cup of tea. When the master entered, he sat before the man, took up the teapot, and said, “Let me serve you some tea.” He then began to pour. As the teacup began to overflow, the man cried out. “Stop, can’t you see it is overflowing, you fool.”

The master calmly stopped, looked at the man and said,

I cannot teach you. You, like the teacup, are too full.
You are filled with your own opinions and sense of importance.
You must first empty yourself out, to be able to
receive real knowledge or understanding.
      – Tea Cup Parable

Ponder on this.

When you decide to grow, to change and transform your life, it is important to open your mind to new ideas and concepts. A part of growth is letting go of old ideas or ways of being, to make room for new concepts that will serve you better.

The journey through life is an adventure. To grow, you must expand your awareness to new thoughts that will serve you as the person you are becoming.

All that is past, both your failures and your successes, are resolved as you open yourself to the power of the present. Open your life to the promise and potential that is unfolding and being created in the miracle and magnificence of an open mind and an open heart as you explore all of the ways you can awaken to the new opportunities and the successes and joys that are in the process of being created for you by life today.

Embrace the possibility of transforming your life as you shed the old and open to new opportunities right here, right now, today.

Namaste,
