You Are a Spark of Divine Light

You Are a Spark of Divine Light

Read "You Are A Spark of Divine Light" Serenity Sunday article by Genevieve Gerard

This bold truth reveals what is magical and mystical about a human being.

This truth has been a foundation of all world religions and of all paths since the beginning of time, yet it remains one of the deepest secrets in our human consciousness.

The truth can set you free. Yet, it is a truth that is not easy to really understand and often difficult to manifest in the world. It is this truth that speaks to understanding the nature of God and the purpose for mankind in the world.

What is amazing is that although this is a concept that is as old as time itself it seems to be ever a new revelation each time it is expressed. As I write these words I am aware of all of the traditions that have tried to share this truth about the nature of humanity and the nature of God that have become obscured in dogma. This unfortunately only hides the truth leaving just small hints or glimpses into the full power, the full majesty and the amazing glory of what the statement “you are a spark of divine light” means.

It is beyond my ability to imagine how frustrating and disappointing it must be for God to have tried so many times in so many ways to reveal this truth about the nature of life and the purpose and promise of life itself only to watch His amazing creation of humanity suffer and struggle through their lifetimes both unaware and unwilling to be what we were created to be.

Even as I look internally, I am aware of so many obstacles in my own mind and in my own consciousness that I understand that this concept is not easy to understand. I find that I lack the vocabulary and the writing skill to teach or express the vast magnitude of what is possible when I let myself realize the implications of that truth.

In India, there is an ancient tradition that has emerged from one of the world’s oldest traditions, that of greeting and acknowledging one another by saying “Namaste.” This greeting serves as a reminder of this great truth when you slightly bow your head with your hands together and over your heart because the word Namaste means, “the divinity in me recognizes and honors the divinity in you.”

In this simple act of tradition lies a reminder of the truth that you are created as a spark of the Divine Light. The Namaste greeting or acknowledgment serves not only as a reminder of this often shielded truth of our true nature but also as a brief blessing. The slight bow of greeting and honor that is commonly seen throughout India, China and most of the Asian world works in a subtle and mystical way, as blessings do. This is because as you acknowledge and honor the divinity in another as you honor and acknowledge the divinity in yourself you are automatically and spontaneously aligned with God.

That is a mystical part of blessing someone. As you give a blessing you must open yourself to the Divine, and to do so you are also blessed. This is the power and the magic of blessing and it is true and profound in whatever culture, with whatever words are used.

What is so magical about both the giving and receiving of a blessing is that when you bless someone you are consciously aligning with the Divine using whatever words you choose to understand God or your higher source. Even more important, you are acting in your role as a co-creator with the creator.

We are told that God created man in his own image. God granted man that spark of His own Divine nature. This Ageless Wisdom and the ancient scriptures from all traditions and all paths tell us this. I cannot think of a single religion or tradition in the world that does not acknowledge this truth.

However, to understand the purpose and the meaning of this great gift that God gave to humankind when life was breathed into his creation is our challenge as human beings. God gave us this great gift but because free will is a universal element of the nature of life itself, God must give us hints and nudges to guide us and help us learn to align our personal will with Divine Will.

There are so many times and so many ways God has tried to bring us into the harmony and union for which we are created. The history of the world is filled with messages and examples of God’s saving grace through history. This relationship with God is the essential element of all spiritual paths and spiritual teachings.

If we study the history of revelation from world teachers to world saviors to prophets and saints, we have been left with some basic directions. These are amazingly consistent despite all of their individual dogma and diversity for they all direct us to love, to love God, to love ourselves and to extend that love to others. We are reminded that the nature, the essence and very being of God is love. And that spark of Divine Light that is within each and every human heart, mind and Soul is composed of love and created by love.

How can something that is so basic to our very existence and so integral in our very nature be so hard to manifest? How can what we all long for so deeply be so often beyond our reach?

Simple teachings like those of Jesus when he answered the Pharisees about the greatest law, upon which all the laws and rules are based when he stated, “Love God with all your heart, your mind and your Soul and love your neighbor as yourself.” Although this sounds very simple, anyone who has strived to live by that direction will acknowledge that this may not be so easy to do.

To love God, to truly love God requires living in right relationship with God, which is an I – Thou relationship as described by the theologian Martin Buber in his book “I Thou.” To love yourself is one of the most important elements for psychological health and well-being and the subject of more teachings and books than I can name. To love your neighbor as yourself requires demonstrating both Good Will and the Will to Good to all who share the planet.

Expressing your Divine Spark is a significant way to demonstrate your love and your service to others. Enter coupon code “NGWS50” to instantly download this meditation for only $5 USD.

Perhaps the reason that Jesus guided his disciples to these manifestations of love is because the significance of how to do things affects your behavior and consciousness. Long ago Saint Augustine said “Love God and do as you please” because he knew that if you were truly aligned with God in that “I Thou” relationship that what you would choose to do, how you would choose to treat others, how you would choose to honor and respect others would result in right action and right human relationship.

These principles that are woven into every spiritual teaching are so basic to your personal and societal success and happiness that you need to be reminded that “You Are A Spark of Divine Light.” As that spark it is important that you honor and Love God, that you honor and love yourself, and that you honor and love your fellow man. Ponder On This. Perhaps it is why that reminder inherent in the ancient greeting of Namaste has had such longevity and purpose. It serves as a blessing, but also as a reminder of who you are, and an acknowledgment of your unity with your neighbor and your need to show homage and love to God.

So I encourage you to as you go into the world this week to greet and bless all who cross your path with the meaning of Namaste, I recognize and honor the Divine spark in you as I recognize and honor the Divine spark in me and in so doing I recognize and honor my unity with the Divine.

Remember, this thought serves as a blessing and an honoring of those you greet and automatically aligns you with your own Divine spark, your Soul, and spontaneously brings you into right relationship with God as you serve your fellow man.

When you consciously extend this greeting and these thoughts with intention you are, through the universal law that energy follows thought, serving as an emissary of Goodwill and Right Relationships. You are actively joining with God in your role as a co-creator to be of service and to be a force for goodness, love, and mercy to come into the world. This simple act of kindness, love and grace does have amazing power. It will impact and influence the world around you as it will influence you and all around you in subtle and yet powerful ways.

You can be an agent of change, and a source of blessing and a force for good in the world. You can make a difference and help create the world you desire to be and help to usher in the new age and the new world that has been foretold in the prophecies of old.

A helpful and powerful affirmation, which is my very favorite from my “Awaken to Success: Affirmations for Abundance” CD, is:

I am a spark of Divine Light, it is my nature to shine.”

Therefore, I encourage you to be a blessing to the world and to affirm yourself as a spark of the Divine as I say to you a heartfelt Namaste.

Namaste,

Genevieve

Faith Freedom and Fulfillment

Faith, Freedom, and Fulfillment

Read Faith, Freedom, and Fulfillment post by Genevieve

A life lived with faith is more fulfilling and free.

When you have faith, faith in God and confidence in yourself or faith in life itself you have a head start in conquering any challenge that may ever come your way.

You are granted wisdom and an understanding that is an underlying support in everything you do.

One of the most reassuring aspects of faith is that you are assured that you are a beloved child of God. That you are beloved means that you are loved, by the one whose very nature and essence is love. This realization, this understanding, and this underlying confidence and assurance can be a guiding force in your life, a beacon of light in the threat of darkness and despair that can mar the human experience. It can comfort and sustain you in the moments where you cannot see the way.

The purpose of life is a life of purpose.
          – Robert Byrne

A part of living with faith is the realization that your life has a purpose. You are more than just a physical collection of atoms and matter; you are an integrated being of a body, emotions, a mind, and a Soul. You are a spark of Divine Light. It is your nature to shine. To live a life that manifests your purpose gives you great freedom and provides a sense of fulfillment and joy.

To make the journey from faith to freedom, from freedom to action and from action to fulfillment requires a merger of your personal will with Divine Will. It involves aligning with your Soul and committing to the work and the service to others that demonstrate love to the world. This often means taking the road less traveled. It might mean that you make choices and decisions that do not make sense to others. A life of universalizing faith is guided by the still quiet prompting of the Soul and the gentle nudges that come from time in prayer and meditation.

At times to follow that guidance necessitates making choices and decisions that might not make sense to others. This is particularly true when you feel guided to serving others. So much of the advice and guidance of the world is based on the fulfillment of selfish needs and desires. To follow a path of love, to be of service to your fellow man entails deeper considerations that are often seen in a superficial examination of your life so your goals and your reasoning may not always be clear to friends and family. When you open your life to a Higher Power and the guidance of your Soul in a quest to find and fulfill your life’s purpose you have chosen to march to a different drummer than much of the world hears.

The support of our Soul and the joy that it bestows
is sufficient to our need and carries us forward.”
          – Genevieve Gerard

Fortunately, your sense of personal satisfaction is enhanced when you explore what your right work is. When your Soul and your divine purpose are in alignment many experience opportunities unfolding before them. To have your work in the world be a fulfillment of your life’s purpose and your Soul purpose is a significant factor in being happy and experiencing joy.

I recall times in my life, when my work was a fulfillment of my life’s purpose and yet I was also amazed that I was being paid to do what I loved doing. Those were times in my life of great happiness and joy.

I can also recall times in my life when I ignored the direction of my Higher Self or let material fears guide me into jobs that were not in alignment with my purpose. It was in those experiences that I learned what the word work meant. I was a great deal more stressed and more fatigued at the end of the day and, considerably less happy. When I ignored the prompting of my Higher Self and let my material desires or my fears make my decisions for me I sacrificed my peace of mind and happiness.

If you are interested, I wrote a Wisdom Wednesday post that talks more about freeing yourself from limitations and fears.

The benefit and rewards of listening to the promptings of my Soul to align with my life purpose and Divine Will were clearly demonstrated to me in painful life lessons. I resolved to be aligned with my Higher Purpose, especially in my work life, as a way of increasing my sense of fulfillment.

I found that to help me be clear about my Soul purpose and life purpose keeping a journal was a helpful way to both clarify and record the impressions I received in meditation and prayer. Journaling is a helpful way to gain insights into higher consciousness. It allows you to observe your thoughts and feelings from a clear detached perspective that when approached with openness to Divine insight and contemplation helps you to understand the promptings of your Higher Self and walk the path where your faith directs you.

Journaling is a powerful tool in a life of meditation, prayer, and faith. There is something very affirming and empowering about seeing your thoughts and your feelings written down on paper. Certainly, what thoughts and impressions you receive in prayer and meditation are worth recording and I have often found them valuable when I have important decisions to make or significant events to consider, long after they were recorded. It is my impression that this technique is an essential element in living a directed life of alignment with Soul, God’s Will and a sense of meaning and purpose that a life guided by faith promises.

To live your life with faith, faith in God and confidence in yourself gives you great freedom and the opportunity to live a life of meaning, a life with purpose, fulfillment and real joy.

Namaste,

Peace Be With You

Peace Be With You

Getting and Giving the
Transforming Blessing of Peace

Read Peace Be With You article by Genevieve Gerard

The experience of peace has been an integral part of the spiritual journey throughout time.

Being at peace, experiencing peace, and feeling at peace is one of the best parts of the spiritual journey.

The heartwarming and fulfilling moments of peace nourish you at the deepest levels of your essential being. When at peace the pressures and problems of the world fade away leaving you refreshed, strengthened, and restored.

To be at peace is a benefit of meditation, prayer, and opening your heart and your mind to the Presence of your Soul and the Presence of the Divine. The peace that is so often sought is considered a blessing, and indeed, the experience of peace in your heart, mind, and Soul is a great benefit.

Ancient liturgies still performed in Christian churches of a variety of denominations include in a service of worship a ritual called the passing of the peace. This is where fellow worshipers greet one another with the Blessing “The Peace of the Lord be with you.” To which the response is “and also with you.” This ritual of passing the peace is a beautiful part of the group benefit of worshiping together.

The blessing of one another with an invocation of peace is a powerful act that has a far-reaching energetic and healing impact to those who both give and receive the blessing of peace. This is one of the times that by giving we receive. When you wish for another’s peace, you find that the universal law “energy follows thought” becomes engaged and automatically peace flows through you and you become more peaceful. You become an instrument of peace.

A Peacemaker Technique To Experience

Sharing a blessing of peace to others, not just in a few moments of a Sunday morning worship service but as an instrument of peace in the world, empowers you to be a co-creator of a positive reality and makes you an agent of the change you wish to bring to this world.

As a peacemaker exercise you could try an experiment whereas often as you think of it throughout the day, send forth a blessing of peace to anyone you see or notice.

As you try this, observe the impact your blessing and wishing peace influences the energy of the one you are blessing with peace. At the same time observe the effects and results that giving the blessing of peace has on you. You might notice that you feel calmer, less stressed, more attuned, and aligned with those around you.

You could choose, vary or modify what words you use. It is your intention of blessing or wishing them a peace that moves the energy and creates the essence of peace. Depending upon your own personal philosophy, beliefs, or theology, you can invoke the Divine Presence by adding such words to the thought as “The Peace of the Christ is with you” or “the Peace of the Lord is with you” or the “Peace of the Lord be with you.” You can use any of the names by which God is known anywhere in the world.

You can invoke any spiritual presence with whom you intuitively feel connected. This could include the Buddha, saints, or angels. What you send out automatically responds to your thought and intention. The act of blessing another is an act where you are aligned with your Soul. It is a service and a gift that you are giving to others.

This very brief expansion of your thought form about the blessing you are sending forth in this experiment enhances the gift of peace you are giving to the world. I know that when I have used this technique myself I have found that I experienced less stress, more joy and more successful interactions with others throughout the day. By you blessing those you encounter throughout the day, wishing them peace, the energy becomes charged with the good you intend.

To consciously invoke, share and invite peace into your consciousness intermittently, throughout the day, whenever the thought crosses your mind, impacts you because you cannot help but receive what you are giving. It is a simple little experiment. Approach it by being gentle with yourself. Anytime you do it, and anyone you choose is right. It does not require effort. Keep the experiment light, playful, and positive.

You might find it helpful to say what is known as the St. Francis prayer for it embodies the principles of sharing peace exceptionally well. When you say this prayer you are also joining with the energy of those who throughout time have strived to be an instrument of peace in the world.

Saint Francis Prayer

Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is discord, harmony;
Where there is error, truth;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, Grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console;
To be understood as to understand;
To be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Slaying My Dragon of Loneliness

Slaying My Dragon of Loneliness

Fairy Tales are more than true: not because they tell us dragons are true, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.”
      – Neil Gaiman

Read "Slaying My Dragon of Loneliness" Wisdom Wednesday blog by Genevieve Gerard

Recently, one of my coaching clients identified her fear of being alone in life or more importantly being lonely as an underlying issue in her life.

My client is a successful professional woman who has never married and finds the prospect of continuing her life as a woman alone frightening.

She is aware that to be alone is preferable to being in a negative or abusive relationship.

In fact, she recently faced that decision and choice with great strength and courage when a man to whom she was engaged became emotionally abusive and his labile emotions and outbursts had her constantly on edge.

She could certainly see, as many have seen, that being in a relationship does not protect you from feeling lonely. In fact, during my own struggles with loneliness I realized that as difficult as it was at times to be alone, that was preferable to a relationship where you felt alone; isolated and separated from someone you cared for, loved or expected to fill that void within you that loneliness created.

In my life these issues reached a pinnacle when my career took me to a new City where I had neither friends nor family and then changed in an unexpected manner so that I was working from home with no social engagement. There I was not only alone but forced to come face to face with what I began to call my dragon of loneliness.

I had, by that time read a sufficient number of self-help books, both psychological and spiritual to know that I “should” be able to sustain and nourish myself sufficiently to not suffer from my loneliness. But I never found that knowing or determining that I should not feel something ever gave me freedom from an emotion. Fortunately for me, meditation was a well-ingrained practice in my life at this time, so I was able to gain some perspective on life beyond my emotional turmoil, but still I suffered from the loneliness and isolation that had become my life.

Holidays were, of course, the worst and all those days when I “should” be with others or “should be happy.” Attempts to go to the homes or celebrations of other peoples families often left me feeling more bereft and lonely than to just stay home and be alone because it confronted me with what I wanted but did not have in my life.

Often, at night, in my dreams I began to wrestle with this problem in the symbolic form that dreams often take. Night after night, time after time, I would in a terrifying and threatening dream be attacked by a dragon that in my dream I knew to be a symbol of my loneliness. Night after night, time after time, I would battle the dragon, often defeating it. Frequently cutting off its ugly head only to have it either grow more heads like a Hydra either in the same dream or when the dragon next appeared.

During the day, while I had work to fill my time I often felt isolated but not really so lonely. The most difficult times were unscheduled evenings, weekends and of course holidays. The rest of the time my life was busy enough that I did not experience the underlying loneliness so badly, but, somehow it was always there as a reminder that I was ultimately alone.

The dragon dreams became a frequent part of my nighttime sleep adventures. It seems that no matter how dramatically and thoroughly I battled and ultimately defeated the dragon in my dream, it would emerge again hail and healthy ready for battle. Because of the pervasive pressure of the dreams and the circumstances of my life as a woman alone, I began to consider frequently the issue of the difference between being alone and feeling lonely.

I realized that just to be with people did not protect me from feeling lonely. It is possible to feel lonely in a crowd and in many ways that is even more devastating than being lonely when you are alone. I began to see in the lives of many around me how the fear of loneliness led many to make poor life choices, accepting in relationships being demeaned, disrespected and abused just so they would not be alone.

I realized that conquering this dynamic in my life was very important. I often pondered what made the difference between feeling lonely and simply being alone? I came to the conclusion that the key resided in my expectations. It seemed I felt most lonely at those times and events where I believed that I “should” be with others, where personal or societal norms dictated that I “shouldn’t” be alone. I “should” be in a happy family.

In other times I found I was quietly able to nourish and enjoy my time alone. It was these expectation times that were painful. I began to realize that loving myself and liking myself were essential elements in not feeling lonely. I found that journaling was a great way to resolve painful emotions as the very act of writing down my feelings shifted my perspective and expanded my understanding.

You can not be lonely when you like the person you are alone with.”
      – Wayne Dyer

I began to wonder why I thought I “should” have circumstances in my life different from what they were. I began to accept that my life at that time was the way it was and not “should” on myself. I began to see that the tendency to approach my life with the phrases “Should have,” “I could have,” or even “I ought to” were toxic. They led to disappointment and dissatisfaction. They prevented me from appreciating and enjoying what I had as everything fell short of the desires and expectations I projected onto an event.

The way that desire created suffering became very clear. The way that projecting onto life events the expectations that accompany the words “should,” “could” and “ought” brought me out of the present moment. Most importantly it made it difficult, if not impossible, to appreciate and enjoy what was really happening in my life because I held life up to unrealistic illusionary and imaginary standards forged by movie films and book novels that were created in the mind but rarely lived.

A significant breakthrough in all of my thoughts and ponderings on all of these issues came to me as a Thanksgiving Holiday approached. I had already decided that I would not join my friend’s family gathering that had historically concluded in my feeling more lonely and dissatisfied when confronted with what I did not have in my life. I decided to spend Thanksgiving Day alone. Stripped of the projection of what I “should” experience I reasoned that Thanksgiving was a day like any other so I determined to spend it at home, alone.

I had a peaceful fire in the fireplace, I lingered over my coffee. I made a special breakfast for myself. I had a relaxing and very peaceful bubble bath (in fact it was where I created the basis of what today is my Bathing in the Light Meditation product.)

It was a luxurious way to indulge myself. I nourished, honored and demonstrated love for myself that whole day, and amazingly was not lonely or sad the whole day. It was one of the most freeing and significant days in my life.

That night I had another Dragon Dream. The Dragon began to approach me in the dream, but as he approached I did not take up my sword to battle and defeat him. I became fascinated by watching him approach as I noticed the multicolored radiance of his scales. As he got closer I realized that his scales were made of jewels.

Slaying My Dragon of Loneliness - Genevieve Gerard Wisdom Wednesday

Still fascinated and amazed by the beauty of his radiant jewels I let him approach, not afraid, just curious and accepting. As he drew closer and closer he wrapped his serpentine body around me. I realized that he and I together looked like a caduceus. His dragon wings were behind me and his fire breathing head centered over my heart.

A rainbow appeared in the sky above my head. I awoke feeling restored and refreshed. I realized as I wrote in my journal the next morning that this dream marked a significant transition in my life for I could now enjoy and appreciate my time alone, free from the loneliness that had challenged me for so long.

My ability to be alone and nurture and sustain myself became a strength that stayed with me even when my life changed, to a married woman and mother.

The freedom from “shoulds and oughts” has become a cornerstone in my teaching others ways to live in joy. Since that time having time alone has been a source of strength as I have learned to nurture myself.

Learning to love myself and freeing myself of the expectations of “should” have made a huge difference in my life and in my ability to be happy.

Are you ready to truly love yourself and take time out to nourish yourself by washing away your troubles and feel restored, refreshed and rebalanced? If so take some time this week to purify the deepest pains inside of you and cleanse and soothe your mind, body, and soul on all levels.

You deserve to love and indulge yourself and slay your dragon of loneliness.

Namaste,

   Genevieve

Embracing Your Divine Nature

Embracing God’s Will
and Your Divine Nature

Embrace Your Divine Nature Serenity Sunday article by Genevieve Gerard

What role in your life do you play vs. what role in your life does God play, and how do these work together in a cohesive and cooperative way?

Long ago philosopher
and spiritual teacher
Saint Augustine said,

Pray as though everything depended on God.
Work as though everything depended on you.

This duality of prayer and our individual efforts speak to the underlying confusion of the role that God plays in our lives and our responsibilities as a human being.

On one hand most feel perfectly comfortable taking an issue or a problem to the Lord in prayer and asking for divine intervention however most truly have a harder time surrendering to his divine guidance and will as called for in the famous words of Jesus when he prayed “not my Will but Thine be done.”

As old and wise as this concept is the concept of surrender is often touted but it seems is woefully misunderstood by those on the spiritual path. Surrender is just one of the many concepts where spiritual teachings and spiritual traditions seem to be in conflict. The conflict seems to arise from our misunderstanding of what we are as human beings, the nature of God or the Divine, and most importantly how these diverse influences work together.

On a deeper level of our misunderstanding is our failure to comprehend how spirit and matter work in the intricate dance of creation and co-creation. There seems a contradiction between a human being as a dual being who possesses the spark of Divine Light and the all too limited and struggling individual we too often consider ourselves to be. This dichotomy, this seeming contradiction has long plagued both thinkers and doers alike.

By clarifying these seemingly contradictory natures we can better understand what roles God and prayer play in our life. We then can open ourselves to a deeper comprehension of what it means to be a child of God and a co-creator of our life. This clarification is important because to recognize and appreciate the intricate inter-relationship of these forces in our lives is both encouraging and empowering.

As we explore this question of what role God and prayer plays in our life we are confronted with teachings that all seem to be true, but sadly seem to be very different from one another. This leads to very different conclusions about what we should do in any given moment of time with our life.

It is easy to embrace one truth to the exclusion or surrender of the other things we know to be true. But in so doing we deprive ourselves of the benefit and blessings of our dual nature as a human being as well as a Divine being… a son of man who is also a child of God.

Thought leaders, spiritual teachers, and the common mythos of society tell us that we are responsible for everything that happens in our life. And I believe that is true. Right alongside that truth is the concept that “energy follows thought.” And that I believe, and it has even been proven by science to be, also true. Woven alongside these truths is something that men and woman of faith have long knownprayer is a powerful force that can have a profound impact on life situations and events.

Ultimately, our desire to call upon the support of the Divine and invoke Divine Will and right action can give us a great peace and a great calmness when we call upon the higher wisdom of God and our Soul to direct the events and circumstances of our life.

Thankfully, we can both strive and surrender when we focus on our dual nature as a child of God and a co-creator with God, powerful beyond our imagining when we are aligned with our Soul purpose and Divine Will.

Amazingly both these truths manifest and are demonstrated over and over again despite our limited understanding of how they work together in the unity of our nature. Our life tends to lead an individual to embrace one element of truth and ignore the other. This is unfortunate because this limitation of our comprehension can deprive us of the power & influence we have over our life as a co-creator and the comfort & support that is available to us as a child of God. We can experience the sweet support of surrendering to the wisdom of our Soul and God and still use all of the powers of positive thought to manifest the life that we envision and desire.

The motivation, influence, and mastery that results when you take responsibility for your co-creator role in life is powerful, profound and inspiring. Likewise, the peace, joy, and comfort that you can experience when you surrender to the Divine (take it to the Lord in prayer and invoke or yield to Divine Will) is a blessing & solace that is also profoundly inspiring. The point that so often is missed as you may vacillate between your human nature and your Divine nature, is that it is not an either-or situation.

It is an answer that can only be really clear when you understand that your real power and ability to resolve these truths lies in your burgeoning awareness of your nature. This nature, as a Soul-integrated and ultimately Soul-infused personality, reveals a mystery, magic and a power that humanity is just beginning to understand and embrace.

This dual state of being is a consciousness advocated in the Ageless Wisdom that has been hinted at but is only now in the fullness of time coming to light in spiritual teachings as a part of an enlightened awareness. As beings of spirit, aligned with and surrendered to the Will of God, and as a physical being having a spiritual experience, you can span these states of co-creator and create.

It may well be a concept you have never previously considered, but, on deeper exploration provides the continuity that clarifies so many of the contradictions that you may have been exploring. When you reframe and reconsider the different roles of your Soul as a spark of Divine Light you may realize that an essential part of your being is that we are all One with Source (God.) You then can think about your personality as the unification & integration of the influences of your physical body, your emotions, and your mind, seeing your whole being as the miracle that your life truly is.

The amazing thing about being a human being is that you are both fully human, driven by your personality needs and desires and you are a beloved child of God, imbued with a spark of unity with God to become in your life co-creators of the life that manifests before you. Therefore, you dance between invoking and surrendering. You can pray and petition with faith. And, at times even bargain with God.

There is something very peaceful about surrendering to God and just having faith that God will guide your steps and direct your life. But God did not create a human being to be a passive being. God gave you the amazing power and potential to work in harmonious cooperation with his creation process. He gave you a mind, the power to love and free will so you could learn to live a life that bridges from animal man to Divine child of the son of God.

As we strive to demonstrate our faith in God, it is important to see how God has demonstrated His faith in us. He has granted us the position of co-creator of our life as a child of God. He has given us the powerful principles of “energy follows thought” to teach us the “Laws of Attraction.”
      – Genevieve Gerard

As you learn to live in harmony and understand the direction of your Soul and your Divine nature, you also must learn to direct the creative power of your thoughts, control the power and influence of your fears and direct and redefine your personality cravings while learning the meaning of love.

It is not an easy task you have been given to be a human being and a child of God. However, learning to be a co-creator and take advantage of the sweet support of surrender allows you to manifest this duality in your life and by learning to express this in your everyday life you are in for an exciting and great adventure that will open you to be and become all that you were meant to be, all that you truly are. This is the great quest for the new consciousness and new awareness for a new age.

It is in the integration of your Soul and infusion of your personality with your Soul that the full glory, potential and power of what it means to be a Son of God and a Son of Man here on planet earth, is realized.

Embrace God’s Will and Your Divine Nature!

Attract Money

A Spiritual Way to Attract Money

A Spiritual Way to Attract Money - Genevieve Gerard

We all need money to support and enhance our physical being, our need for food, for shelter. This is an integral part of life.

I’m here to tell you
it’s OK to ask for money.

It is even OK to pray
for the money you need
to be provided to you.

It is OK to provide what you need and desire for yourself and your family.

Often, those on the spiritual path reject money thinking that somehow money is bad or evil. The simple fact is money is material matter, therefore it is not spiritual, but it is simply matter. As such, in its material form it is neither good nor evil. It is spiritual neutral.

This rejection of money, because to have money is not spiritual, leaves many spiritual people without their needs fulfilled. Money, as matter cannot be more than its material nature. The good that money can do, or the harm that can come from money, rests exclusively in the hands of the one who uses it.

However, the love of money can lead you away from what is good and right action. All around us we see the attachment to money and the desire for money lead people astray. It is the however the greed and the desire for money that becomes the problem. It is the all too common tendency to put our faith in money or to let “things” take precedence over right action and right human relationships.

When you really look into it the money is not the problem but rather the over attachment to the money is the problem. It is not wrong to own things, but it is wrong to let things own you. It is this attachment and misplaced faith in money that gives material possessions a bad name in spiritual circles.

Your ability to attract money into your life can have a powerful effect upon your ability to express and fulfill your Life and Soul purpose. I believe fulfilling your Soul purpose is one of the most significant things you need to accomplish in your life. Ultimately in order to feel safe in attracting money as a spiritual person you must have faith in yourself to use what money comes your way for right action and purpose.

Many over the span of lives have become confused about this important fact. Those who identify themselves as spiritual often seem to shun the material, thus leading to a life of poverty and lack. This essential confusion may have its genesis in old traditions of humbly begging for one’s daily substance or religious orders who took vows of poverty.

Just as there is nothing inherently evil about money, at the end of the day there is nothing inherently good or spiritual about poverty. The often misquoted phrase that “money is the root of all evil” is actually correctly stated as “the love of money is the root of all evil.”

Although we are cautioned against a love of money or of placing money in the role of a deity in our life, to use money wisely with a positive spiritual intent (with harmlessness and a will to do good) can be a celebration of your Oneness with Source and your service to your fellow man. In fact ancient words of power affirm in the spiritual practices of the Ageless Wisdom the power of the invocation “The Highest and the Lowest Meet.”

Making money serve as a tool for good, and a spiritual tool for God, is a high and blessed calling. There are in the world so many ways that money can be used as a servant of what’s right and good in the world. It is when men and woman of goodwill and good intention fall into a trap of serving money that a problem is created on your spiritual path. It is however possible to not fall into this trap as long as you go about attracting money in a spiritual way and understand the importance of wielding money for good in the world.

Your power as a co-creator of life with the Divine requires your ability to use and accept all of the many opportunities and blessings that are available to you. Rejecting the abundance of the world of matter which creates self-imposed shortage and suffering is often more about fear and a failure to love, honor and value yourself. Be open to and have gratitude for the abundance that is available to you. Love yourself and honor the purpose of your life and the spiritual benefit of asking for money and what it can accomplish will be available to you.

So, it is ok to ask for and attract money in your life. However, the intention and purpose of the money you request is of great importance. Money can be used to serve good as well as serve greed and selfishness. What you do with the money you manifest is a very important life lesson and life challenge. The choice about how you use the money can have both spiritual and karmic significance. Remember money is just matter and how it is wielded determines its value in a spiritual life.

To empower your attraction of money into your life I have created this visualization and meditation to invoke the abundance that is available for you as a blessing. Then, when you remember to share your blessings with others you will be truly engaging in an act of love and your service will become truly spiritual.

And, when you express your gratitude for all that you have and will receive you will unlock the door of magnetic attraction to manifest and fulfill your Life Purpose and Soul Purpose.

A Meditation Visualization and Invocation for Money

Begin by aligning your body by sitting with your spine aligned.

Then, imagine your Soul as a radiating golden point of Light energy above your head.

Affirm yourself aligned with that Light and Higher Purpose of your Life.

Then visualize, descending from your Soul golden energy flowing, which may manifest as money, which may manifest as creative ideas and which may manifest as golden light transformed into real gold, as you invite and invoke prosperity into your life and affirm that in so doing “The Highest and The Lowest Meet.”

Add to your invocation and invitation of money into your life the clear intention to make your money a servant of good and right action in the world.

Then to attract money into your life consciously open your heart and your mind to receive money and imagine it freely flowing into your wallet, your bank account, your wardrobe, full to overflowing coming to you from Source, coming to you as a blessing, coming to you to serve both your needs and the needs of your brethren.

As you invite and invoke money into your life take a brief pause to consider how your life would be different if you had all of the money that you needed.

Put as many details into this imagining as possible. Vividly see in your mind’s eye where you are or will be living, what you are or will be doing, hear the sounds that surround you, sense what you will be experiencing when you have all of the money you want and embrace all of the money you need to do good in the world.

You might wish to add the positive affirmation that the money you attract will be used to fulfill your life purpose and to help others fulfill their Soul purpose. Affirming that you will dedicate a certain percent of whatever money you receive for service to others is a time honored way to deal with receiving money that has been shown to increase both prosperity and abundance.

To ask, in invocation or prayer, for money when you are committed to using it for right action, fulfillment of your Soul purpose and to enhance right human relationships is O.K. What you do with what you receive is where the spiritual lesson and demonstration lies. Ponder on this!”
      – Genevieve Gerard

If you want to make a list of what you see, hear, feel and vividly imagine that can help to empower your manifestation. The focused goal setting and purpose clarifying intention helps attract the resources that are needed, for the purpose defined.

Now as a last step, with complete trust and faith, assert and affirm that the channels for money are open to you and flow freely for you as you accept the best in the world for you and offer the best of yourself to the world.

Now, give thanks and have gratitude for these great blessing you are receiving, and all of the blessings you have already received.

So it is and it is so NOW and throughout your life.

Namaste,

Genevieve Gerard

Finding Your Life’s Purpose

Finding your Life’s Purpose

Read Finding Your Life's Purpose by Genevieve Gerard

Each of us has a purpose for our life.

To fulfill this purpose brings us into harmony and alignment with our Higher Self, our Soul.

To engage in that purpose brings you more than happiness, but joy.

Knowing that in your daily work you are expressing your higher purpose gives a satisfaction that no paycheck or material reward can ever match.

Unfortunately, as you work for survival in the world the importance of manifesting your purpose in the world and finding “right work” can be lost. This is a sad reflection upon our society and demonstrates the ways we fail our children and more importantly, fail ourselves.

Years ago, Paul Goodman in his book Growing Up Absurd noted that

we work in jobs that are meaningless,
for which we get money, which is meaningless,
with which we buy things, which are meaningless
and wonder why we have a meaningless society.”

Right work, doing what you love in life, is a key to joy and often the best way for you to unlock abundance. So, as I ponder these things I wonder why more people don’t manifest their life purpose in their work.

As I question this and ponder this I find that there are multiple factors that influence this issue. As with so many things in life, we let ourselves be limited by our fears. We are afraid that if we hold out for the kind of work we love the kind of work we enjoy and what would bring us satisfaction and a sense of fulfillment that we will not make enough money for all the stuff we believe we need and desire. Perhaps what we should fear is living our whole life dissatisfied and burdened as we take on roles and responsibilities that are justified by society’s values that we cannot fulfill. This attitude is often summed up in the expression “that’s why they call it work.” Unfortunately, that expression and the values that it espouses are antitheses to living a full and fruitful life, living a life of joy.

Because we as a society do not value finding our Life’s Purpose, generation after generation is condemned to jobs that do not express or fulfill them as the materialistic values of our society encourage people to live lives of consumption and quiet desperation. This is despite the advice of various thought leaders to “Do what you love, and the money will follow.”

Working for survival can condemn you to a life where you may survive but it lacks a sense of meaning and purpose that will lead you to despair. The “stuff” you buy does not bring you satisfaction or joy. It becomes the clutter of a life of compromise and frustration.

We too often fail to believe in and trust ourselves, life, God or the very purpose of life itself to make fulfilling our life’s purpose work for us, even though it is in doing that is where the subtle energy of life aligns to help and support us. We buy into the limiting beliefs of our world that drudgery is fine if it is amply rewarded. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Perhaps, before you agree to let your fears and limiting beliefs condemn you to a life of sorrow and suffering as you commit to most of your life experience unhappy and unfulfilled, you might consider taking the time and attention to understand what actually brings you a sense of joy, what your real purpose in life is that will satisfy your hearts desire.

Ironically, that does not need to be a high-status job or a dramatic or glamorous one, but rather one that fulfills your sense of higher purpose. The most mundane and tedious jobs known in our society, as basic as a greeter at Wal-Mart, can be the fulfillment of one’s life purpose if as a worker greets customers, they express the intention to be a beacon of pure comfort and joy to other’s as they greet them. When you are doing this as an act of service, and you are aligned with your life’s purpose, yours is the most important job and you are important doing that job because what you are delivering and bringing to that job is more than can be imagined or rewarded. Joy and purpose can often be found in doing whatever you are doing with the fullness of your whole being infusing the task.

When you passion becomes your vocation you don’t need a vacation.”
      – Genevieve Gerard

Early in my work life, I was a waitress. Although it was hard work physically, and I was tired at the end of my shift, I left the job satisfied and fulfilled because of my goal, my purpose, was to make my customer’s experience of eating out as pleasant and relaxing as possible. This focus of service to those who crossed my life gave me a sense of satisfaction that filled each day. I approached the job by desiring to be the very best waitress I could be and anticipate and fulfilling the needs and desires of my customers made it a challenge and satisfying. Remembering them from time to time, and remembering what they liked and how they liked it, made the human interaction valuable. This was equally true whether it was a fancy dinner restaurant or a sit on a stool, coffee shop. Not surprisingly, I was always rewarded with more tips than my fellow waiters who approached their service as demeaning or drudgery.

Each day was a pleasure to serve others and bring a little joy into their life even though it may have been as simple a pleasure as a well brewed and warm cup of coffee.

So, it seems to find right work not only has within it the element of finding the right job but also of finding within you that job that you can do to bring the energy from your Higher Self to make it align with your purpose in life.

Through meditation, by opening yourself to the guidance of your Higher Self, you can gain clarity on this issue. Because this is such an important factor in life that has such far reaching impact in not only your life but your relationship and opportunities for service with your fellow man, I recently conducted a group meditation on “Finding your Life Purpose.” This meditation is available as a MP3 download on my website on my New Group of World Servers meditations page.

It is not your purpose to be corralled by your fears into accepting compromises and be demeaned and limited by work but to find where in the world and how in the world you can be a fulfilled glorious expression of your real self.

Look into yourself and consider what you can do and what you can bring to each circumstance and each opportunity in life to align with your Higher Purpose which will bring you more and more opportunities and experiences compatible with that purpose.

Spend some time in meditation to consider what your true passion – your real purpose is, and then be brave and bold as you go forth to do it and live it to the very best of your abilities. Find your life purpose!

Namaste,

Genevieve Gerard

How To Experience True Joy

How To Experience True Joy

Read "How To Experience True Joy" post by Genevieve Gerard

This post is part of my ongoing series on Joy

The experiences of joy and sorrow while seeming to be complete opposites have something in common. That is a relationship in our ability to experience them.

When someone, as people often do, blocks off their ability to experience sorrow, as people often do when presented with painful life experiences, one of the unintended consequences is that they also limit their ability to experience joy.

I don’t know why this is true. It certainly seems like it should work to wall off our sorrows, but it doesn’t. I first observed this relationship between our ability to experience joy and sorrow way back in 1975.

I lost my Father as a young child at the age of 7. Raised in a culturally Northern European home, mourning, any display of sorrow or frankly any emotion deemed to be negative was strictly frowned upon. Crying or frankly, any emotional honesty was vehemently discouraged.

I know that this message was not limited to my coming up. It was a pervasive social norm at the time. Consider the praise heaped upon the way Jacqueline Kennedy was stoic with dry eyes as the First Lady, widow of a much-beloved president.

Strong emotions can be unsettling or frightening to others. Therefore, they are easily discouraged. Most of us feel powerless to really comfort someone when they are in the midst of heart-wrenching sorrow. It is much easier to discourage their expression of sorrow than to just be with them through their pain.

But, what I learned in 1975 when I was finally able to mourn the loss of my Father was that the unexpressed sorrow I had held in my heart for so long had also limited my ability to experience joy. In fact, there seems to be a direct correlation between these two seemingly opposite life experiences.

In describing this it seems there is almost a bandwidth in the spectrum of our emotions and it may be that we cannot limit the scope of one side of our ability to experience life without limiting the other. Perhaps the impact was so great for me because I had held back such a dramatic flood of tears behind a dam of inconsolable sorrow. But once I released the tears I had held back for over 20 years an amazing transformation began to take place in my life. I was able to feel more fully and completely than before.

The depth of my sorrow is the height of my joy.
        – Genevieve Gerard

In that fertile valley of emotions that had dried up when I dried my tears at age 7 were the seeds of a deep and abiding joy. When I realized this I coined for myself the phrase that I share with you today, “The depth of my sorrow is the height of my joy.”

In choosing to embrace life, the good, the bad and the sometimes sorrowful, I opened a portal to joy and happiness. The transformations that this shift in my understanding brought into my life were far-reaching and profound. It gave me the ability to have emotions in their full depth and range, without letting the emotions limit me.

I learned that an emotion, freed to be expressed, had a natural flow to it that is analogous to a dive into a deep body of water. You go into it, as deep as feels right and that then, automatically you begin to pull up until you are free of it, washed clean and released into the light.

By granting this natural flow of experience and expression you can have emotions but then they are then released. New revelations and understanding can now flow in bringing a new awareness. This freedom to experience the full spectrum of life’s events open you to not only your joy but also an understanding and perspective on your life events and life lessons that is very freeing.

Also, the willingness to feel whatever life offers along the journey also releases a lot of the need for fear. So much of what fuels fear is the desire to avoid pain and sorrow. When you realize that the sorrow of life is something you can cope with and handle, a lot of the need for fear disappears. All of the energy you used up avoiding sorrow is now available to create the life that you envision and desire.

This understanding and awareness works into your life gradually as you grow in confidence and trust in yourself to take on life’s challenges and events as they come.

Another small piece to the puzzle is revealed when you realize that nothing is ever too much to bear when dealt with at the moment. It is only when you project it; backward or forward in time that something becomes too burdensome to bear.

At the moment you have strength. At the moment you can cope. If you let your fears drive you to think it (whatever the situation of it is) will always be this way, many of life’s challenges become too much to bear. However, in the amazing freedom of the moment, you can always handle things.

This is a great blessing that is inherent in the promise that we will never be given more than we can handle. Yes, sometimes life is sorrowful, and sometimes that sorrow seems to be more than we can bear, but it never is more than we can bear. And our bearing the sorrow, though it may leave us feeling bloodied, can be healed.

Ask yourself “Do I experience more Joy or Sorrow in my life?” Amazingly, when you keep open to the full spectrum of life, joy is as likely as sorrow, and your strength and confidence will grow with each life challenge conquered.

Remember you are part of an amazing adventure called life and you are an amazing being blessed by every lesson learned along the way. Allow yourself to really enjoy all spectrum’s of life in the moment as you let all experiences, whether in joy or in sorrow, flow over you.

Namaste,

   Genevieve

Soul Connections

Soul Connections – The Eternal Bond of Love

Read Soul Connections article by Genevieve Gerard

Have you ever had the experience of meeting someone new, be it a friend or lover with whom you feel an immediate bond and connection that defies logic or understanding?

Immediately with these people you may be able to build a deep bond that is somehow more profound and much deeper than most of your other relationships.

These relationships go quickly into a level of trust and intimacy that can be at times confusing.

How, you may question and ponder, can I feel closer to someone I just met than possibly even my own family or friends I have known my whole life?”

These relationships are so different from other relationships that they are noteworthy and recognized as the special events that they are, even if they are not understood.

To understand these relationships, and even more important to not misunderstand the nature of these relationships it is important to understand both the nature of love and the eternal bond of love that evolves when a Soul connection exists. To explore these Soul connection relationships we need to expand our consciousness and our awareness of possibilities beyond the ways we may believe or perceive life to be.

The commonly held beliefs in Soulmates are often examples of these Soul connection relationships. And, when these relationships are begun at a time in life when one is looking for a mate, these profound bonds can be ignited into a lifelong powerful supportive and sustaining relationship. But when these intense experiences occur outside of the time of mating and physical desires our lack of understanding of these special relationships can be the cause of pain and sorrow. We might feel that we missed the chance to bond with our Soul Mate and therefore deny ourselves the love, the support, and the joy that a Soul connection relationship can bring into our lives.

Limiting a Soul connection relationship to the confines of the modern mythos of a Soul Mate is sad because it often denies us some of the most powerful relationships we can experience.”
          ― Genevieve Gerard

By expanding our awareness of the nature of Love to a deeper understanding of life and the nature of the Soul, we open our life, our consciousness, and our experience potentiality to a full spectrum of joyful liaisons to enhance our life adventure.

On a deep almost pre-conscious level we know, not with our minds but deep in our hearts the truth of the words, love never ends. We know this, not as hollow words to comfort us when someone we have truly loved dies. It is through love that we become aware of and our eternal nature, our Soul. When we have forged the bond of Love with another, we have made a connection that is beyond time and space. We have expressed our Divine nature and created something that connects us that transcends the material world and is manifested energetically.

We know these things with the wisdom of our hearts no matter how much our logical mind and scientific explorations fail to make sense of them. We might even say that these truths are self-evident, Love is eternal, and the Soul is eternal. Therefore, we might then consider what is not eternal. We know the body is not eternal.

Each of us who walk the earth knows that we begin our walk to death at the moment of our birth. It may be a very long walk or a devastatingly short walk, but we know that life has a beginning and an end. We also know that along that adventure we are dual beings. We have the life of the body which focuses upon all of the obvious aspects of the matter, but we also have emotions that while at times are impacted and influenced by the body exist outside of the material world. We also have thoughts, which like the emotions are not limited by matter but exist in a way every bit as real as our physical nature. And to complete the full expression of our nature we also have a Soul.

In a sense we are not only dual beings of matter and spirit but amazing beings who have a body, but are more than our bodies; who have emotions but are more than our emotions; and who have a Soul. It is with our Soul that we truly can love. And when we Love we form a bond with that which is eternal in us and that which is eternal in the beloved. It is through that eternal bond, of Soul connection, that we are drawn together in a myriad of roles and relationships through the bond of Love.

When we make in our life these connections that are Soul connections we are given a great gift to explore our deepest nature and develop and grow to a greater fullness of our being. The friendships formed and the relationships that are forged through the bond of Soul connection and Soul Love come into our lives to support us, empower us and expand our consciousness, reminding us on a very deep level of who we are as eternal beings.

What is a friend? A single soul dwelling in two bodies.”
          ― Aristotle

These connections which are often recognized by an amazing ease of intimacy and understanding are usually accompanied by a feeling of having known someone your entire life, even if you just met. The depth of feeling that these relationships engender and the overwhelming joy that accompanies such connections is a part of the magic and mystery of life. In these relationships, you are invited to strengthen and temper love to new levels that have nothing to do with Eros or romantic Love but at times Philos, the Love of deep friendships and Agape, Soul Love which extends into the deepest core of your heart.

To expand your consciousness to incorporate these relationships into your life are a blessing that enables you to experience a joy and enables you to transcend the existential sense of loneliness and alienation that may have plagued other relationships in your life. Therefore you can populate your life with Soul Mates, Soul Friends, Soul companions on the path for the mutual achievement of your life work, your heart’s desire and your growth and evolutions in consciousness.

Celebrate and explore these unique relationships whenever and wherever they are offered to you in life. Neither age nor circumstances limit the potential of these Soul connection relationships to enhance your life in ways that can be both satisfying and empowering. These Soul connections offer new opportunities to embrace and express the fullness of your life.

To Be Free

To Be Free

Read Genevieve Gerard's thoughts on Being Free

Around 4th of July,
our thoughts turn to freedom
.

In the 241 years since a gathering of revolutionaries met and decided to risk their lives in a quest for freedom, this date has stood out, certainly for Americans but also as an example to the wide world of the importance and value of freedom.

At that gathering so long ago, the United Sates of America Founding Fathers declared freedom to be an inalienable right of a human being. This was a powerful thought that spread throughout the world. It was at the time a synthesis of thought that emerged from the philosophy and expression of what has been called by scholars, “The Age of Enlightenment.”

Certainly, nothing in human history until that fateful act of defiance had identified freedom as a right, a right given to mankind by its creator. This powerful thought still impacts lives, governments, policies, and humanity across countries and cultures today, and will influence people for years to come.

Such is the power in a thought. This is certainly a demonstration of the powerful principle that “energy follows thought.”

I am sure that every veteran who ever offered their service and their honor to fight and quite possibly die, did so in the name of preserving freedom for those who waited at home.

Honor to the soldier and sailor everywhere, who bravely bears his country’s cause. Honor, also, to the citizen who cares for his brother in the field and serves, as he best can, the same cause.”
     ― Abraham Lincoln

But war has always taken its toll on those who served. The very inhumanity of war, on whatever shore has left behind warriors wounded in body, mind or spirit. For many of our veterans, they long to be free of the memories, the nightmares and the vigilance required by war.

As our technology and science is applied to war we have veterans returning with unprecedented pain. There are many reasons for this. It, unfortunately, leaves those who fought to defend us with less freedom than their sacrifice granted us.

It is to provide a way to use the tools of meditation and visualization in the service and for the benefit of our veterans that I am offering a gift to any and all veterans. Over the years I have created several meditations and visualizations that have been offered to people with great success, people from all walks of life.

Recently, I created a special series of meditations and visualizations to help with many of the challenges that are faced by our veterans. This 4th of July weekend through midnight the 4th of July, I am offering for FREE a Veteran’s Bundle called “I’m Free.”

This $64 bundle is available for FREE to veterans over the 4th of July holiday week. It contains 3 meditations “I’m Free to Sleep,” “I’m Free to Relax” and “I’m Feeling Free.” For more in-depth details about these three products look here.

Please help deliver this gift to any you know who could benefit from becoming free of the residuals of war.

I have created a special website, www.For-Veterans.com to support our veterans. In addition to the Veteran’s Bundle gift it has articles and information special for veterans and posts from those who have also dealt with the issues of recovery and restitution from war.

It is with gratitude to those who have served that I offer this gift bundle.

I thank you for the safety and security you have provided me and hope the healing and resolution available in these techniques provide restitution from the ravages of war.

Namaste, (which means the divinity in me salutes the divinity in you)

Genevieve

The Blessing of Love on All That You Do!

P.S. Are you a veteran (military personal) or know a veteran, send them this link for our Independence Day bonus week “I’m Free MP3 Veterans Bundle.”

Harnessing The Power Of Your Mind

Harnessing the Power of Your Mind

Harnessing The Power Of Your Mind - Genevieve Gerard

Your mind is a powerful tool.

As with any tool, how effective it is depends upon how it is used.

Learning to use the great and amazing power of your thoughts to manifest your life’s purpose and fulfill your goals is a primary reason that many people explore the subject of consciousness.

It takes only a minute of sitting quietly and observing what you are thinking to realize that the quicksilver nature of thought is so multidimensional and diverse and scattered that if the principle that “energy follows thought” is true and our thoughts create our reality as the “Law of Attraction” claims, we all have some work we need to do if we want to use our mind effectively and efficiently.

Gaining mastery over the mind, particularly controlling the free flow and often negative input of unbridled thoughts is a challenge. In your 1 minute of observation of the nature of your unfocused and uncontrolled thoughts you probably noticed how much of your thoughts reflect what you fear. This is not a judgment of you, but a simple observation of the nature of what spiritual teachers have for centuries or longer referred to as the “monkey mind.”

The practice of meditation provides a variety of techniques to help you harness the power of your mind and quiet the mindless chatter of the “monkey mind.” Different ways work differently for different people and at different times. You could certainly ignore the input from the world of meditation and teachings about consciousness were it not for the understanding of the mechanics of the “Law of Attraction” and the principle that “energy follows thought.”

This pesky idea that your thoughts have power, indeed the power to create your reality and can help by working for you, or can unfortunately work against you is a powerful motivator to explore how these subtle principles and laws work. These revelations about the power of your thoughts are not new. Way back in biblical times the book of Proverbs stated “As a man thinketh, so shall he be.”

Since that time, there have been a variety of teachers and preachers, business leaders and thought leaders who have both validated and expanded on that powerful wisdom. In writing this Wisdom Wednesday Blog I realize that I could fill the whole post with books and resources of those who praise the truth and power of your mind. I will, if you like, provide some links to some that I believe are the best at explaining or teaching about this important issue and help you explore these concepts from a variety of teachers and approaches.

A gift of one of my very favorites, Napoleon Hill’s life changing book “Think and Grow Rich.” This is a free Adobe PDF of the full book that you can download and ponder on.

Napoleon Hill once stated that “goals are dreams with deadlines.” Manifesting your dreams and fulfilling your life’s purpose is an important reason to use the tools and techniques of meditation to harness the power of your mind and make it work for your benefit in your life.

My main purpose in this blog today is to discuss this ancient wisdom within a perspective of what techniques you can use and activate in your life to help you harness this awesome power of your mind to make it a tool to help you achieve your life and your Soul purpose.

One technique that I have found valuable in my own practice and in my years of coaching and counseling people is that you begin just by self-observation. I recommend starting with committing just 3 minutes a day to consciously observe your thoughts. When you observe a negative or fear based thought flash through your mind, edit it, correct it and replace it with a conscious thought of what you want and are striving to manifest in your life.

This self-observation, edit, correct (with intention) and replace technique is most important and empowering when what crosses your mind is a fear. To do this consciously and with intention is best achieved in a meditative state while aligning with your Higher Self and focusing upon your life’s purpose. In this alignment you have a greater vision.

This technique is best done from the perspective of what I call “the detached observer,” free of self-judgment or criticism (each of which work against achieving positive thoughts to replace the negative and fear based chatter of the “monkey Mind.”)

I refer to this as a meditative state because it is not really meditation, but as you are seeking to consciously align with your Soul and your Soul purpose in life you are in a higher state of consciousness and keener awareness than just thinking. So this exercise of observation from the perspective of the “detached observer” is a bridge between normal uncontrolled and casual thinking and meditation.

This can be a powerful and transforming technique. As I mentioned I recommend starting with this technique 3 minutes every day. That may seem very short but if you really consider and catch most of your negative thoughts to edit, and revise and replace the thought, you will have made a huge step forward in your ability to harness the power of your mind and learn to quiet the chattering mind. This simple (although sometimes not easy) step is important in learning to meditate and to empower your life.

In teaching this technique to my coaching clients, most have observed that a daily 3 minute practice of this technique begins major transformation in their lives.

The substitution process of exchanging a negative thought for a positive one can also be used with other meditation techniques such as affirmations or by following a guided meditation. The powerful principle that “energy follows thought” and the activation of “The Law of Attraction,” will be incorporated into your thoughts and life on a multidimensional basis, shifting your thoughts and your perspective on a daily basis.

The more often you practice this technique the better the response in the material world. Your thoughts are more powerful than you realize and your mind is a co-creator in your life in cooperation with the Divine or Source or however you envision the Creator to be.

The choice is yours. The time to activate the awesome power of your mind to live the life you have always envisioned is NOW. It is your life and your power to master.

Namaste,

Genevieve

The Essence of Being

Essence of Being

Read the Essence of Being, Serenity Sunday article by Genevieve Gerard

This post is part of my on-going series on Awareness & Being In The Now.

Years ago when I was going to a Zendo to learn meditation, which is called ZaZen or more literally sitting meditation, the Zen master and I were discussing, as we often did the differences between the teachings of our Western culture and what is advocated in Zen meditations.

Pressure To Do vs. Be

We considered, in particular, the differences between the messages of many Western society parents, certainly mine, who would say, “Don’t just sit there, do something.” I don’t remember how many times I heard that when I was growing up, but it was certainly a lot. The Zen Master pointed out that in learning meditation that now I had to learn to “don’t just do something”, “sit there.”

The pressure that we feel to be constantly doing and accomplishing is for many of us hard wired into us from our early childhood messages. The idea that we can just relax, just be still, just sit and ponder, or just be, can be very difficult for many of us. We may feel that since being is not doing that it has no value.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Now, with the vast body of scientific research showing the health benefits of mindfulness meditation that cultural message is gradually changing. However, our societal Type A achievement orientation all too often approaches meditation as just another thing to “do”, missing the important step of opening to the fullness of your being or essence.

The dictionary shows the meaning of essence as, “the intrinsic nature or indispensable quality of something, especially something abstract, that determines its character.” Which comes from the Latin essentia, from esse to ‘be.

It is in the pause, in the silence, in the being, that you receive the essential benefits and the blessings of meditation. It is when you let your awareness expand that the impressions and direction of your essence, your Soul, can be heard in the silence, the silence that is within all sound. Ponder on this.

Reminder you’re a human being not a human doing.”
     – Mastin Kipp

Find The Experience Of Being

It is to help you find that experience of being that all of the meditation techniques taught across the various teachings strive. This includes the chanting of the ancient Vedic tradition, the mantra focus of Transcendental Meditation taught by the Maharishi, or guided meditations, even the activity based mindfulness awareness meditations that I teach, the essential element is about helping you to just be, in the now famous words of the teacher Ram Das to Be Here Now.

All of us who teach meditation, from the Masters of The Ancient Wisdom over the eons to the teachers of more modern times whether Hindi, Buddhist, Sufi or Christian Mystic, create ways to bring you into the consciousness of Being because it is in “Being” that revelation happens. That revelation comes from within your core, from your essence, from your Soul, from your connection to your Soul.

It is ironic that all of the paths of consciousness bring you to this same essential awareness, the essential state of being. It is why I have never been concerned about what path someone walks, only that they walk a path to enlightened awareness. The ultimate teacher is within you and that is your own Soul which always knows exactly what you need to help you move forward in your evolution of consciousness.

The various twists and turns you take along the path can be influenced by a vast array of beliefs, teachings, techniques and trials or errors, but the ultimate teacher, your own Soul, your own embedded spark of Divinity that is with you for all of your life, will reveal the truth to you. That truth will set you free from all of the glamors or illusions no matter how dearly or tightly held.

In the essence of being, truth is revealed. In the essence of being you are not limited to seeing through a mirror dimly. And what path you took to get to that essential experience of being pales in comparison to the bliss, the love, the peace, and the joy that “being” provides.

The Paths To Being

There are many steps upon the path. There are many things you need to learn or conquer along the way. But no step is in vain because each technique you try, each meditation you explore, are all the ways that your Soul is demonstrating to you what you need to experience with the essence of your being.

So, I teach, be gentle with yourself. Love yourself. Honor and respect yourself. Trust yourself to know the truth, for it seems to me when you open yourself to the awareness that resonates with the inner wisdom that this is true you have an inbreed compass you can use to guide your life. I encourage you to listen to that inner wisdom and ignore whatever voices of “you should” or “you ought” that is going on around you.

You and your Soul are the final arbiter of what is right for you, no matter who is teaching you or advising you.

It is to unveil the essence of your being that all of the techniques, all of the meditations, and all of the teachings exist, but it is not out there, it is Now and has always been an integral part of your Self, the touch of your own Soul.
     – Genevieve Gerard

The Light, the very essence of your being is your birthright and is available to you whether you are consciously aware of it in this moment of time or not.

Light A Candle Awareness Technique

There is a very simple very ancient technique that can be used to help you become more aware.

Light a candle and watch the flicker of the flame. Don’t do anything, just sit and watch it.

As much as you are able, calm your mind, open your heart and invite the Light while you just sit and observe the burning flame.

You can observe the candle for as long or as short a period as you desire. There is nothing to do, just be. There is no right way or wrong way to watch the flame, just watch.

I hope you enjoy this simple “being” awareness interlude.

Namaste,

Live A Balanced Life

Live A Balanced Life

Read Live A Balanced Life by Genevieve Gerard

In your life experience, learning balance is important.

You must learn to balance work with play. You must learn to balance your selfish desires with charity. You must strive to balance your joys and your sorrows. Even when something is good and enjoyable we can realize that too much is not good because it takes us out of balance.

But more important is another step to living a balanced life.

Balance is important in so many subtle aspects of our life that we seem to gravitate toward it unconsciously. There are aspects of the concept of balance that serve as primary lessons for the spiritual demonstrations that are a part of our evolving consciousness.

A part of our growth and maturation as a conscious being and a spiritual being requires learning to use each distinctive part of our being in harmony and balance with the other parts of our being. The lessons that come about from harnessing the desires and impulses of our physical nature and our body are not only important psychological lessons but also important as spiritual lessons.

The Ageless Wisdom speaks of these lessons of consciousness in terms of calling upon our Soul to give us dominion over the desires of the flesh. Likewise, the insight and perspective of the Soul is called upon to enable us to conquer the dragons of our fears and calm the troubled water of being overly emotional.

Balance is the most important of all qualities. We don’t want a little bit of rapid growth and then to stagnate. We want continual growth, continual development, which implies balance, always.
        – Dr. Frederick Lenz (Zen Master Rama)

In a higher turn of the spiral, the wisdom of the Soul is invoked to bring the mental body into balance and alignment with the impressions of the Soul. In each of these important developmental tasks on the spiritual journey, integration is significant. In each of these significant milestones, the evolution of our human consciousness and understanding of the scope of the human experience is demonstrated.

This process of integration continues as a theme in variation through our many lifetimes as we explore the vast array of possibilities in life. You may or may not believe in the continuity of consciousness that is known as reincarnation. If you consider that a possibility, within the context of our evolving and growing into the fullness our dual nature as fully human and our sense that we are in some way connected with that which is Divine in life, as a hypothesis many unanswerable questions seem to find an explanation.

To consider that our nature and the fullness of our being includes a physical body which we must not let run amok in life seems pretty clear. We have all seen the disastrous results of unchecked lusts, gluttony, and laziness. These temptations along the spiritual path are well established and they are even listed in the seven deadly sins.

To expand your thinking to include the challenges of the other parts of your nature, wrath, greed, pride and envy you can see that bringing your emotions back from uncontrollable expression is also an important part of living an integrated life. Likewise, learning to harness the impressions of the mind beyond just the capacity of thought into the more spiritual application of wisdom is a task that often requires courage and conviction. To bring the needs and desires of our physical body into balance and bring our mind and emotions to equilibrium are all vital to have a truly successful life experience.

Integration of these often conflicting urges and influences is the work of the personality. The better integrated, the more balanced and cooperative these dynamism’s are the happier and I believe the more successful and fulfilled an individual is. We can see the truth of this by observing our fellow man.

The Final Step In The Process Of Balance

A less obvious factor in our comprehension, because it is less tangible to our human expression, is the final step in this process of balance and amalgamation. This is the dynamic that becomes available with the integration of our Soul into the wholeness of life experience. It is, however, only when we embark upon this final quest of human consciousness that we can begin to fully understand and express the mystery of our creation as being fully human and at the same time in union with the Divine. That mankind has known itself to be of this dual nature as both human and Divine is reflected in the ancient greeting of “Namaste,” a Sanskrit phrase that means “the Divinity in me recognizes and honors the Divinity that is in you.”

Initiations Into Different Stages of Consciousness

The developmental tasks along the spiritual journey have been explained in the Ageless Wisdom in the terms of initiations into different stages of consciousness simply expressed as:

  1. The first initiation, Soul dominion over the physical body;
  2. The second initiation, Soul domination of the emotional body;
  3. The third initiation, Soul domination over the mental body.

In this integrative process the personality is also integrated with the Soul as the sum total of our body, emotions and mind.

This step in our spiritual evolution of integrating and fusing our Soul with our personality is the culmination of so many life lessons and spiritual lessons that it is rare to find. It is a stage in consciousness to which you can aspire and open yourself to in meditation. There are, in the Mantram taught in the Ageless Wisdom, specific opportunities to open your heart, your mind and your Soul to this experience.

One of my very favorites, the Mantram of the Soul, comes from the works of Alice A. Bailey, Discipleship in the New Age, Vol. II. p. 123.

Affirming, asserting and invoking this blending of light and fusion of your Soul with the personality brings about a shift in your life experience and consciousness. These, in turn, bring about a new way of being and facilitate the expression of the new kind of human being who is evolving into the world. It is with the development of this new type of human being, that you can imagine the changes and transformation the world will need to undergo if the long-predicted golden New Age will come to fruition.

This step in your consciousness and expression of your dual nature, fully human and Divine, is a giant step for mankind that has been eons in the making. This expression of your role as a co-creator of life in harmonic cooperation with the Divine promises new possibilities and potentialities as you venture through this experience we call life.

Namaste,

   Genevieve

Calm Your Mind

Calm Your Mind

Read Calm Your Mind - Serenity Sunday Article by Genevieve Gerard

Calm your mind,
Open Your Heart,
Invite the Light

These are the instructions that I use at the start of every guided meditation that I create.

When I reflect upon what characteristics best exemplify a spiritual life, I realize that the qualities of patience, kindness and calmness are key virtues for us to strive to develop in our life.

I believe you can best manifest these qualities as a reflection of your experiences received in meditation. The practice of meditation and ultimately the discipline of meditation, focus you on calming your mind.

Quieting your mind is an ongoing challenge for those of us who practice meditation, no matter what form of meditation we practice.

It is only in the quiet mind that the full peace of the serenity of our Soul can be experienced.”
     – Genevieve Gerard

It is in the quiet mind that we can open ourselves to the wonder and the Oneness of the Universal Presence. It is in a quiet mind that the promptings of your spirit guides and guardian angels can be heard. It is in the quiet mind that intuition can be truly revealed.

The more tranquil a man becomes, the greater is his success, his influence, his power for good. Calmness of mind is one of the beautiful jewels of wisdom.
     – James Allen

Releasing Anger

Calming your mind requires an active manifestation of the important principle of detachment, because to achieve that blessed state of calm you must disconnect from and release any anger you may be carrying, which will automatically bring you in touch with forgiveness. This forgiveness often needs to focus on those who have annoyed you, whether with petty acts or grand, but in order to extend the grace of forgiveness to another; you will find you must also extend that forgiveness to yourself first.

This contradiction of that by giving we receive has been revealing itself more and more clearly in my recent meditations. It seems to be an important principle. Ponder on this. It is very empowering.

This release and this resolution of whatever anger you have been experiencing combines with a spontaneous ripple effect of shifting your awareness away from the events that made you angry. This does much to bring calmness to your mind and quiet the chatter, by letting go of expectation, demands or desire.

This movement in your consciousness from expectation, desire, and demand, to letting go of your anger enables you to forgive both the other person and yourself. By this act of forgiveness, you will accomplish a great step forward in calming your mind.

All of this can occur in a nanosecond once you consciously turn your attention toward the content of your mind chatter and the emotions that are locked within it. You might find that this process is enhanced by taking a really deep breath and exhaling fully. The deep breath not only enhances the experience of the release but it also works with the physiology of the autonomic nervous system as the deep breath signals the body-mind-spirit connection that you are now safe to be calm.

Concurrently, your being is interwoven with the influences of your mind, your emotions, and your Soul. The release of the anger and the dual decision to forgive both yourself and the other person spontaneously opens your heart to experience more love.

Open Your Heart

This opening of the heart is the second instruction that I give each time I introduce a guided meditation.

When you open your heart with a quiet mind love rushes in.”
     – Genevieve Gerard

The initial focus to calm your mind has a cascading benefit that is like domino’s falling bringing greater benefit and blessing.

When you open your heart with a quiet mind you are able to both give and receive more love. The heart becomes an open receptacle for the love your Soul brings to you and the love that is available to you from God or Source that is your birthright as a child of God.

Your heart opened makes it possible for you to love without demands or conditions. In this state of openness the qualities of compassion and kindness are stimulated in your consciousness.

Compassion, like forgiveness, cannot really be given, without also being received. This interrelationship and interplay of energies do much to bring about the desired effect of calming your mind. The combined factors of letting go of desires and expectation, and the resulting release of anger, by stimulating forgiveness of both the other and yourself, all shift your awareness and render your heart open to receiving and expressing love.

The initially stated intention to enter into meditation by calming your mind has opened you to all of these blessings.

The second injunction that I give at the start of every guided meditation to open your heart began automatically as you let go of your anger in the process of quieting your mind; forgiving yourself and the other.

To consciously choose to open your heart in the approach and intention of meditating does much to expand and enhance your experience of meditating. By adding the power of intention to what you are experiencing and adding the wisdom of understanding, the power and influence that meditation can have in your life will be significant.

Invite The Light With Meditation

The last instruction I give with each guided meditation is to invite the Light.

Inviting the Light is a step to enlightened awareness. Enlightenment is expressed in the peace, the calm and the love and the joy which becomes a state of being offered to all who tread upon the path of meditation.

There are a myriad of benefits and blessings along the way. Among these are the now undisputed health benefits of meditation. Meditation has been proven to reduce physical stress. It can also give you a different perspective and a sense of Universal Oneness. In addition, the transformation available to your life as you learn to forgive both yourself and others can be very powerful, very profound and very freeing.

The integration of all of the talents and tools that you have as one who has a body (an amazing and complex source of delight and sensation), emotions (a rich and diverse portal to enjoyment and happiness) and a Soul (the gateway to joy and bliss) is a miracle. It is the miracle we call human life. It is a miracle with which you are blessed. And because we live each life of this miracle blessed by free will, it is a miracle that we are empowered to make of it what we will.

In my life meditation has provided the way to harness and to calm my mind as I receive the blessing and benefits of a calm mind. Meditation is the tool that has enabled me to forgive both others and myself. It is how I have conquered the stresses, the strains and the pains in life. It is how I have utilized universal laws such as the Law of Attraction and the dynamic opportunity to be a co-creator in my life through the principle that Energy Follows Thought.

There is no work I can do that I believe to be more important than teaching about and creating meditations. There is no gift or service that I can give that offers more opportunity to help you live your life in joy fulfilling your potential and promise, manifesting your Soul purpose.

In my adventure through the lessons of my life, meditation is the foundational pillar upon which I build. I am far from perfect. I often fall way short of whom and how I would like to be. I am a work in progress and will remain a work in progress all of the days of my life.

For me, meditation is the way I progress along the path. Mediation has become over the years a practice that has given me so much, taught me so much and exposed me to so much that my joy and my love overflow into so many aspects of my life that my gratitude for this great gift to all of my teachers and guides along the way is unlimited and ongoing.

I wish this great joy and this blessing for you:

Calm Your Mind, Open Your Heart, Invite The Light!

Namaste,

Genevieve
