International Day of Peace

International Day of Peace

Read the International Day of Peace article by Genevieve Gerard

Peace is one of the most important things in the world.

To have an international day, where across the world people focus upon peace, is a powerful event on many subtle and energetic levels.

It is a clarion call to humanity to manifest peace on this beautiful and so often war beleaguered planet to demonstrate that peace is possible.

International Day Of Peace - Genevieve Gerard

This day, this International Day of Peace September 21 can help bring about peace and you can help and participate in that effort. To do so first realize that the Universal Principle that “energy follows thought” is a force that can be used to invite and invoke peace. Every thought you have of peace today, world peace, and personal peace of mind help build the energy of peace on the planet in the very real etheric substance of the planet.

This year Day of Peace theme draws attention to the importance of combatting climate change as a way to protect and promote peace throughout the world.

International Day of Peace Poster for 2019

Climate change causes clear threats to international peace and security. Natural disasters displace three times as many people as conflicts, forcing millions to leave their homes and seek safety elsewhere. The salinization of water and crops is endangering food security, and the impact on public health is escalating. The growing tensions over resources and mass movements of people are affecting every country on every continent.

Peace can only be achieved if concrete action is taken to combat climate change.

Today peace faces a new danger: the climate emergency, which threatens our security, our livelihoods and our lives. That is why it is the focus of this year’s International Day of Peace. And it’s why I am convening a Climate Action Summit.
        — UN Secretary-General António Guterres

What Can Youth Do To Get Involved?

Young people are stepping up to the challenge, close to half a million youth around the world have taken action on climate change in their homes, schools, and communities. According to UNFCCC, they are key actors in raising awareness, running educational programs, promoting sustainable lifestyles, conserving nature, supporting renewable energy, and adopting environmentally-friendly practices.

This year, the International Day of Peace Student Observance will provide a platform for young people to showcase the projects that they have undertaken to fight climate change and promote peace.

International Day of Peace quote by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres

What Can You Do To Help

This invitation and invocation of peace unify you with the work and the efforts of all of the men and woman of goodwill who work for peace. This energetic group of humanity is known as The New Group of World Servers.

It is a group that you can be energetically a part of by conscious registration of that fact that you are a man or woman who ascribes to the principles of the Will to Good in the world. As such, there is no belief or dogma required. The work of this group is energetic and is a Soul or spiritual work so it is subtle and often going on beyond the conscious mind. You can strengthen and empower that service to humanity and the world by engaging your conscious mind and linking in worldwide service by joining daily to say The Blessing of The New Group of World Servers.

It has long been a part of my meditation practice, and the meditative practice of untold many across the world, to join at 5 p.m. every day (in your time zone) and say:

The Blessing of the New Group of World Servers

May the Power of the One Life
pour through the group of all true servers;

May the Love of the One Soul
characterize the lives of all who seek to aid the Great Ones.

May we fulfill our part in the One Work
through self-forgetfulness, harmlessness and right speech.

        – A Treatise on White Magic, p. 261 by Alice A. Bailey

In joining your conscious energy and thought to this group you empower the forces of good in the world on a subtle but still powerful level.

I invite and encourage you to join with me and the other men and woman of goodwill around the world at 5 p.m. daily in saying this simple blessing. Since it is always 5 p.m. somewhere in the world your efforts join to make this blessing travel around the world every day.

I have found over the years as I practice saying this blessing daily that it is a brief pause to align me with the work and service of my Soul and the Oneness of humanity that brings a sense of peace and calm in the midst of my busy day.

As is true so many times on my spiritual journey, by giving I receive and by blessing I am blessed.

To join with this group today while the world population is focusing on Peace is especially auspicious.

When the power of love overcomes the love of power,
the world will know peace.
        – Jimi Hendrix

Peace is an integral component of the energy of the Divine. To open you to the essence of peace energy as it flows from Source, it may help understand that peace is a manifestation of the Spirit of Peace. By tuning and aligning your Soul and your energies to this stream from cosmic love you enhance and empower your life with a peace that can give you greater peace of mind and a sense of peace in the wholeness of your being.

International Day of Peace 2018 Poster

The sense of peace, first within your heart, your emotions and your mind is an exalted state of being and of consciousness. To feel the blessing of peace, both as you bless another and are blessed opens the energy of grace for the deep spiritual sensation of inner peace is a manifestation of a being aligned with your Soul, the Divine and Love.

We all have the Right To Peace.

In this alignment, when you are invoking and inviting peace you are also aligning with the Spirit of Peace. Also at times referred to as the Spirit of Peace and Equalibribrim for the energies of equilibrium are most certainly an element of peace.

To achieve inner peace in your meditative life, your prayer life and your spiritual life is one of the most valued results of living a spiritual life. To take that blessing into the world, to be a peacemaker in this world is the call to action that the International Day of Peace works to inspire. Stand up for your rights!

Therefore, it seems appropriate on this day that you consider and ponder upon what needs to shift in the world to help humanity have peace.

At the end of this post, I have 2 New Group of World Servers Meditation links that provide guided meditations to help you experience greater peace in your life and greater peace on earth. I invite and encourage you to download them and use them in your life.

In the spirit of Peace I am offering one of these meditations as a FREE GIFT MP3 download. It is my Guided Meditation “Let There Be Peace on Earth,” which is a part of my New Group of World Servers Meditation collection. Please share this offer with your friends and family.

Peace within and peace in the world is linked. Practice peace in your mind and in your heart and invite the peaceful presence of your Soul in meditation regularly.

Become an instrument of the Peace that Passes Understanding in the world as you pray for peace, invoke peace, and support peace whenever you can, wherever you are.

Namaste,

   Genevieve

Healthy Hugs

Healthy Hugs

Please read A Heathy Hug, blog post by Genevieve Gerard

I recently read an article about the health benefits of hugs that is directly related to both the healing advantages that came from hugging and how we hug one another.

The real health advantages in a hug occur when it lasts at least 20 seconds. The average hug, the author lamented lasts only 3 seconds.

As I began this blog and looked for pictures it was interesting to see how many of the hugs that were available on the photo site I use, were given sideways. The energetic blending of life force that to me represents a healthy hug is heart-to-heart.

Twenty-second hugs help depression and anxiety

In a heart-to-heart hug, you both give and receive concurrently. That is part of the magic that unleashes the physiological and psychological benefits of a hug. Oxytocin begins to be released after 20 seconds in a hug. Oxytocin is nature’s antidepressant and anti-anxiety neurotransmitter. In that way a “healthy hug” is healing.

The information that hugs result in better health and wellbeing is not new. Over 40 years ago, when I worked as a counselor in a community mental health center in Los Angeles, there was research published that proposed that for optimum mental and physical health an individual needed to receive 7 hugs a day.

Of course as mental health professionals, we were all into optimum mental and physical health. Among the staff, a tradition began that changed the work environment in a way that made it less stressful to be in a very intense and stressful work environment. The staff began to hug one another in the interest of health and wellbeing. Since you cannot really give a hug without receiving one the atmosphere of the workplace began to transform into an environment that was much happier and supportive.

Teams became much more effective. Networking and interdepartmental collaboration improved. Patients and clients who were by professional ethics not eligible for hugs seemed calmer and I know in my program migrated back out of the hospital and into society much more rapidly. The measures for success improved.

If I was a researcher, which I am not by nature or inclination, this would have been a wonderful opportunity to understand the healing power of hugging. My observations remain anecdotal and completely subjective. Of course, as others and I migrated into other work environments I realized how rare and special work environments like that little community mental health facility long ago were.

Actually, I had not thought about that experience in years until I read the article about hugs achieving their optimum effectiveness at 20 seconds and realized that even in non-intimate situations where hugging is considered socially appropriate average hugs are so brief.

This realization made me evaluate the nature and duration of the hugs I give to close friends and family members and resolve to relax into a hug and sustain it beyond that brief socially acceptable 3 second parameter and I have found that the researcher was right. A hug of at least 20 seconds is more relaxing.

Stress and tension I had been unaware that I was holding is released in the longer hug. Breathing is deeper and in just a few days of my own brief experiment with healthy hugging, I seemed able to return to my work tasks more creative and focused. In a longer hug, you seem to share breath and the life energy or Prana.

Now, to make a healthy hug also a healing hug add the power of your intention and the principle that “energy follows thought.”

As you are hugging heart-to-heart imagine the person you are hugging being infused with love, from your heart to theirs, and see them being strengthened and supported in what is right and good for them. In this way, your hug becomes a healing force in their life.
            – Genevieve Gerard

This you can do without any personal needs or expectations. This hug is a gift you can give freely. This is a gift that by giving you receive. Your gratitude as always enhances the experience.

Since you have to feel comfortable with both the person you are hugging and the concept of giving and receiving a hug it is perhaps the mutuality required in the act of hugging that enhances the power and effectiveness of a hug.

Consider this simple way to reduce stress and enhance everyone’s wellbeing.

When you hug, linger a bit longer and make it a healthy hug.

So as a way to reduce stress, increase joy, and in general, live both a happier and more healthy life I encourage you to hug one another. Relax into the hug and let your hearts blend, and enjoy!

Namaste,

   Genevieve

Bliss is Perfect Happiness

Bliss is Perfect Happiness

Bliss Is Perfect Happiness Serenity Sunday Article by Genevieve Gerard

Bliss is a word that you do not think of when describing your life experience.

To me, bliss is the best word that can be used to describe the experience of being aligned with and connected, first to the Presence and energy of your own Soul, and to the Source of Divine Love which for want of better words I would call the heart of God.

Ultimately, bliss is perfect happiness.

Follow your bliss and
the universe will open doors where there were only walls.
        – Joseph Campbell

As I ponder how to describe an experience with which I have been blessed with in my meditations, and more importantly, to write the words that can serve as a portal for you to have these blissful experiences, I am aware that my heart is pouring forth with so much love. I am filled with so much joy that I can only pray that as you read these words you open to your own Soul’s inflowing Presence by calming your mind, opening your heart and inviting the Light into your awareness.

If my words and my work can be a gateway for you to touch your Soul and open you to Divine Love then my joy is complete.

As I write to you, what I most want to share is this sensation of bliss, this grace and this Love that is permeating the wholeness of my being.

As I try to identify what I can teach you and how I can best guide you so that I can truly share this with you, I realize the limitations of words. I am reminded that the distance between us and the sense of separateness that we all experience is an illusion, for in the mind of God and the heart of the Christ we are all One. We can connect in that Oneness beyond both space and time. That is the consciousness that I invite you to embrace today.

It is through that Oneness that I can connect with you and share this bliss and sensation of Divine Love that is filling me with overflowing abundance. I invite you to experience this through the Presence of the One Life, the One Love and the amazing grace of Brotherhood and Sisterhood.

“I invite you to join with me in the miracle of the eternal now that transcends both time and space, to be here with me in the presence of the Father, embraced in the cloak of the Divine Mother and emboldened by the Christ, so that I can affirm that Bliss is beckoning to you.”  [tweet this]

Bliss is beckoning to you to join with your Soul and it is beckoning to you to use your Soul as the entrance to the blessing of Divine Love, endless Grace and Light that is your birthright as a child of God and a living moving breathing and ever-evolving co-creating human being.

Now, many concepts are buried in that last statement. Concepts that could extend beyond what your logical mind may understand. Therefore, I invite and encourage you to ponder on this. I encourage you to expand your awareness out from your body, your emotions and even your mind to the full range of what you can experience as your Self integrating into that expansion an awareness of your Soul.

To help you open to these energies and these Presences I am including a simple bliss meditation using visualization and incorporating the powerful principle that “energy follows thought.”

Although we cannot be physically together for this meditation, the cumulative group power that this meditation will stimulate is profound. However, to strive to cross the boundaries of time and space I encourage you to declare your desire and intention to connect with the Presence of your own Soul as you enter into this meditation consciousness.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bliss Meditation
To view the bliss meditation on YouTube directly click Bliss is Perfect Happiness.
To begin, Calm Your Mind, Open Your Heart, Invite the Light.
Sit quietly and calmly with your spine aligned and your feet firmly on the floor.
Enter as completely and a fully as you can into this moment of time. Put all that has ever come before this moment firmly and completely into the past as you open your heart, your mind, and your Soul to receive the wisdom, the blessing, and the insight that is here for you, right here, right now.
To begin to become aware of this wholeness of yourself, focus on your breath. Observe your breath as you inhale deeply through your nose. Observe your breath as you exhale fully through your mouth.
Continue to breathe fully as you relax completely and deeply into this moment in time.
Now, do not attempt to control your breathing. Simply be aware. As a part of that awareness, you may say silently in your mind, “I am aware that I am breathing in,” “I am aware that I am breathing out.”
Then repeat the phrases:
“I am aware that although I have a body, I am more than my body.”
“I am aware that I have emotions but I am much more than what I can feel.”
“I am aware that although I have internal thoughts, I can expand my awareness without limitation.”
“I am aware that I am more than my mind, much more than I can think.”
Sitting quietly, with awareness, just observing your breath, is already having an impact on you. Just the thoughts and affirmation about who and what you are is having an impact on you.
You might notice how much more calm you feel. You might notice that your mind is more peaceful and quiet. You could be sensing fullness in the area of your heart. You could be feeling more aligned with the wholeness of your being. You might be experiencing a profound sensation of being loved that pervades your being.
These feelings and sensations are the gifts of meditation. Embrace them. Appreciate them and enjoy them.
Now, for a much fuller and profound awareness, consciously invite and invoke the Presence of your Soul.
One of the simplest ways to connect with your Soul is to use the power of your mind through your imagination. Just visualize your Soul as a radiating golden point of Light about 3 to 6 feet above your head.
Trust that the principle that “energy follows thought” that governs energy is working in your life.
Visualize this golden radiating light flowing over your entire body with Love.
Be aware that although you are visualizing your Soul as that point of Light, 3 to 6 feet above your head, your Soul is your eternal spark of Divine Light and is not confined to any location. Realize that your connection with your Soul is such that it is a part of the wholeness of your being to be integrated with your physical body, your emotional body, your mental body and your personality. Your Soul is not separate from you but is an essential part of who you are and what you are. It is available for you to touch right now!
To further facilitate and enhance your meditation experience, imagine lines of light on an energetic level from your Soul to the Soul of another, and then another. This interweaving of the energetic lines of Light, of Love and Power, connects you on a mystical level.
With Love and service, I offer the Light of my Soul and the Love of my Soul now to help support you and strengthen you as you focus your attention on Soul Light. It is through this Soul connection that I send out to you Love and Light to enhance your meditative experience.
It is through this network of Souls that you are granted the experience of Bliss beyond joy and the Peace that passes understanding not only for you but for you to share openly and freely with others.
Know that this energetic network of Light and Love follows thought and intention in the etheric energies that are not confined to matter. In that etheric field of Light is complete freedom.
Embrace, enjoy and delight in this sense of the limitless nature of your Soul and the fullness of your whole being.
In the pervading Presence of your Soul, you are an eternal being. You are a beloved child of God; you are the miracle of creation that is the son of man and the son of God, a human being created to walk with God in the garden of His overflowing abundance and grace as the first man and the first woman walked with Him.
Here and now as you come closer into the Presence of your Soul you are brought into the Presence of the Father and enfolded in the loving Grace of the Divine Mother and mystically join with the Christ as a manifestation of his work, will and service in the world. Here you represent humanity as the Light, the Love and the power to manifest God’s plan on earth, infuses you.
Rest in the loving embrace of the Trinity as long as it feels right for you. This unity with the mind of God, the Love of God and the Grace of God is the communion that nourishes your Soul. In this trinity of Father, Son and Divine Mother your Soul serves as a conduit to the trinity of the Self, body, emotions, and mind that reveals the principle “as above, so below.” Ponder on this.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

To foster your conscious awareness of the Presence of your Soul is an important step on your journey to enlightened awareness. With your intention and invitation, especially when you are meditating, this Presence will expand to become more and more a part of your perception of your being.

Because these times that you come into conscious recognition of the Light and Life of your Soul are special, I encourage you to have a dedicated journal book nearby to record whatever insights and understanding have been made known to you during meditation. You might want to record your thoughts, feelings, and impressions right now. I have found that concluding your meditation experience with recording the sensations helps to ground and solidify the positive energy.

Know that this experience of Bliss, this great blessing, is given to you that you can share it with the world as I share it here with you. Amazingly, it is in giving that I receive. My gratitude for this blessing knows no limitation and my appreciation to you for our unity of Soul Light and Soul Love flows spontaneously to mingle with and create good in the world.

I invite you to repeat this Bliss Meditation often and join with me in weaving in the Light of Spirit and the Love of the Soul into your life.

A matrix, along which Divine Love, sublime Grace and the Spirit of Peace, can flow through your life into the world and into the hearts and minds of all who live on earth.
        – Genevieve Gerard

Know that this is mystical work that magically brings with it the essence of Bliss. In this way, we can manifest the mystery of One Life, One Love, One Work and the Oneness.

Namaste,

Genevieve

The Blessing of Love on all that you do!

Be The Director Of Your Life

Be the Director of Your Life

Read "Be The Director of Your Life" blog post by Genevieve Gerard

The nature of thought is that it directs what is created in your life.

This is the subtle principle behind the Law of Attraction and the teaching that “energy follows thought.” This is why thought leaders of diverse backgrounds tell you that to change your life you need only change your mind.

In this simple statement of truth about the nature of reality and the nature of life is a powerful tool that you can use to create the life of your dreams.

Universal laws, such as the “Law of Attraction” and the principle that energy follows thought reveal how the world works. And, it works that way whether you believe it or not, whether you choose to use this information or not. The workings of these forces can be something you bring to your conscious awareness or ignore. Whatever you do, whatever you choose does not change the law. It works and operates with or without you consciously doing anything at all.

Whether you say you can or you can’t, you’re right.
       – Walt Disney

Your mind and your thoughts are always sending out messages that affect the creation of what you experience. That may be a painful thought for you to get your head around because most certainly in your life you experience both situations that you want and enjoy, and circumstances that you do not want.

As you read these words you might find yourself arguing with what I have just stated as you think about some particularly unpleasant situation and contend, “well I certainly didn’t want this or that.” However, whether you were conscious of your thoughts or not, this is how the world works. It is not personal, but it is real.

In fact, it is the very impersonal nature of these laws that contain both the blessing and the curse of this fact. The idea that you had anything to do with or were involved with creating the experiences in your life of sorrow, pain, suffering or failure can be a frustrating and frightening thought. However, if you stop to think about it, it can also be very empowering because then you realize that to change your life you need only change your mind.

It sounds simple, but if you examine the content of your thoughts, you realize it may not be easy. In fact, the technique I will be presenting to you today is all about examining the content of your thoughts. It is by using the technique that you can become the director of your life and leave behind the role of actor and reactor to a life that happens to you unconsciously.

You are already the co-creator of your life. That is part of what came with the spark of Divine Light that animated humanity from the dawn of creation. It is what it means when they say; you are a child of God. And deep principles such as free will make that something you can choose to use, or you can choose to ignore. Your choice doesn’t impact the nature of personal reality, but it does affect the life you live.

It is our choices that show what we truly are,
far more than our abilities.
       – J.K. Rowling

That said it is important that you consider the nature of the thoughts that you are sending out to create your life, your personal reality. It is to help you consciously bring to your awareness what you are thinking, that I created this exercise.

The First Step – Observe your Thoughts

It is the nature of thought that it is quicksilver-fast and has within it many layers embedded with emotions. Herein lays the challenge. What you are broadcasting from your mind is all too often, what you don’t want to happen. If what you are sending out with your co-creator power, consciously or unconsciously are your fears and worries then you will most likely create more of the same.

In a recent blog called “Why Let Worry Waste Your Time,” I make the point that worrying is like praying for what you don’t want. When your thoughts are sending out your fears or worries, the universe usually responds by providing situations where those thoughts will be manifested.

Therefore, if you choose to be the director of your life and harness the incredible power of your mind this first step of observing what you are thinking is essential. It has long been the goal and purpose of meditation through diverse methods and techniques to help the meditator gain mastery over what is often called “the monkey mind.”

The exercise I offer you today is a technique I have taught for years to help people gain mastery in their life so they can be the director of their life and manifest the positive power as a co-creator.

I Am the Director Exercise:

Spend Just Three Minutes a Day to Change Your Life

and Observe Your Thoughts as the Detached Observer

I recommend that you pledge to yourself that you will do this for
3 minutes each day.

To be the detached observer requires that you consciously drop all judgment and criticism of yourself as you observe your thoughts. It is helpful when you start the clock on your observation of your thoughts that you consciously connect with your Higher Self and you open your heart and your mind to the promptings of your Soul.

This makes your observation a meditative experience and automatically adds more power to the experience.

Sit quietly with your spine aligned as you:

Calm your mind, Open Your Heart, Invite the Light.

Then just listen in the quiet to what you are thinking. It is important that as you do this, you suspend judgment and self-criticism or those may become your thoughts.

Then, as soon as you recognize a worry thought, a fear thought or a limiting belief, take the conscious role of director in your life and edit it, correct it, stop it and reframe it with the thought of what you want or desire.

As the director command “Cut,” and rewrite the script (thought) reframe it and affirm the thought that is now in keeping with what you want to create. Then you can use an affirmation to help you to bring the new thought into greater clarity and focus. Then you can take action to bring what you have chosen into full manifestation.

Continue this process on to the next thought until you observe another thought that contains worry, fear or a limiting belief. Do these processes repeatedly as many times as you can in the 3 minutes you have set aside.

If you are like most people I have taught this technique too, you will be astonished at how much of your unedited, and uncorrected thoughts are fearful and if allowed to go unchecked would result in what you do not want to happen.

Although you can continue this exercise as long as you wish, I have found that 3 minutes is a significant amount of time to discipline and harness the mind. Although this is much easier for experienced meditators, I have found that the regular practice of this technique for 3 minutes a day is sufficient that you will see a transformation in your life.

As such, using this technique where you take control as the director of your life is sufficiently empowering and rewarding that you begin to monitor and edit your thoughts on an ongoing basis consciously. In this way, you manifest the power to “Change Your Thoughts to Change Your Life.

This power is your birthright. This power is yours to use or ignore. This technique is a tool in your quest to “Be and Become All That You Are Meant to Be.”

Namaste,

   Genevieve

Love One Another

Love One Another

Love One Another - Super Serenity Sunday blog by Genevieve Gerard

This article is part of my on-going series on love.

It is recorded in the Bible that when Jesus still walked among His disciples He gave this commandment “that you Love one another as I have loved you.” (John 15:12).

That this was given as a commandment is interesting and certainly demonstrates the importance of this instruction since the Bible records Jesus teaching his disciples throughout his time with them, but this is the only time I recall in the Bible that he made his teachings a commandment.

To me that means that this instruction takes on special emphasis. The commandment was not simply to Love One Another, but to Love One Another As I Have Loved You.

That He gave it as a commandment rather than teaching or instruction means that He was speaking this direction from the part of His consciousness as the Son of God. As such, He was instructing His disciples to love one another with a Love that was unconditional and transcendent. He was talking about Divine Love.

He was commanding his disciples to love one another from the consciousness of their Soul, to Love one another as a manifestation of Divine Love.

To even try to fulfill that commandment there are some things that must be understood about both Divine Love and the nature of the Soul. That Jesus was speaking of Divine Love is hinted at just before He gave that commandment. It is recorded that He said, “As the Father has Loved me, so I have Loved you.” (John 15:9). Divine Love is unconditional. Divine Love is eternal; therefore, when you love with Divine Love you love them from your Soul to their Soul.

Of course, to forge a bond of Soul Love, you must come from your Soul. Since your Soul is the part of your whole being that delivers and provides Divine Love in your life consciousness it is essential to open yourself and your awareness to your Soul if you wish to fulfill Jesus’s commandment.

Now, if you have been following my articles and my teachings you will note that coming into conscious awareness of the Presence of your Soul is something about which I write about a lot. It is to strengthen that teaching that I am writing this article.

For me to help you come into conscious awareness of your Soul is my mission in life. It is my purpose for writing these articles and it is my joy. It is a demonstration of the Love of the Christ which I invoke daily in my meditation to flow through me out into the world as an act of service and a manifestation of the Love of my own Soul. It is a way that I can fulfill Jesus’s commandment to Love one another as I have loved you to the very best of my ability.

To help you to come into conscious awareness of your Soul I recommend meditation.

As a start to that meditation I recommend that you set aside some sacred time for meditation. There are many things you can do to “set the stage” for meditation. Just know, there is nothing you must do to start meditating.

A Simple Guided Meditation

It is helpful if you begin your meditation time with intention. It is your intention to meditate rather than just think. This is a subtle but important difference. Intention ignites the process.

It is most effective when you choose to meditate to sit with your spine vertically aligned. That is a point of agreement among almost all who teach meditation. There are many reasons for this posture that I will discuss in future teachings, but this is the preferred posture for meditation.

Then to enter into meditation I suggest that you:

Calm your mind, open your heart, invite the Light. The Light you are inviting is the Light of your Soul.

As you sit quietly and receptively, there are some things you can do to bring the Light of your Soul into your conscious awareness. I have written about these steps in previous articles and encouraged you to read them for the insight, techniques, and instruction they provide (see related links at the end of this article.)

Since the purpose of today’s article and today’s instruction is to help you experience the Love of the Soul and Divine Love I would like to focus this meditation on that.

I encourage you to sit quietly and receptively with your mind calmed as much as you are able and your heart opened to receive the Love of your Soul and God’s Love as fully as you are able. Invite into your awareness the Light of your Soul.

These simple steps followed by quiet, receptive contemplation may be all that you need. I do recommend that you have a journal beside you so that you can record any thoughts and impressions you have received in the silence.

To go deeper into the experience and to focus your meditation on Love, the Love from your Soul to the Soul of another I encourage you to say from your heart, your mind and your Soul this mantra:

I open my heart to the Love of the Christ
and invite it to flow through me
out into the world to all who need it.

I open my life to be an instrument of Divine Love in the world
so that my life and my Love may be a blessing
and a service to others.

For this blessing, I give thanks.”

         – Genevieve Gerard

Follow the intoning of this mantra with a meditative time of receptivity and contemplation. I suggest sitting quietly for 15 to 20 minutes in the silence, and then recording any insights, thoughts or impressions you have received.

               – GG

When I have done this meditation, I feel my heart filled to overflowing with Divine Love and Transcendent Joy. I realize that by giving I have received such an abundance of Love that my heart has become a chalice overflowing that can touch and bless anyone I am in contact with throughout my day as I return to the challenges and chores of my life.

This blessing fills my day with a sense of peace, purpose, and joy. It is interesting to note that Jesus goes on to say in the Bible when he gives the commandment to “Love one another as I have loved you” in John 15:12 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. Ponder on this.

Namaste,

Genevieve

You Don’t Have to Be Perfect

You Don’t Have to Be Perfect

You Don't Have To Be Perfect by Genevieve Gerard

Or, more realistically, you can be perfect exactly as you are.

That does not mean that there aren’t things you could have done better. There probably are.

Yet, the amazing thing about the adventure through life is you get another chance to try a different way to handle almost any situation that life brings your way. Perfection only exists moment to moment, situation to situation.

Realizing this can be very freeing. Life as it unfolds offers you the unlimited opportunity to learn and grow from your mistakes. If you never make mistakes, you may be denying yourself the valuable opportunity to learn and grow. So much of what interferes with your ability to be happy comes from self-judgment and harsh self-criticism that it is important to consider this aspect of life experience.

Be happy with being you. Love your flaws. Own your quirks. And know that you are just as perfect as anyone else, exactly as you are.
        – Ariana Grande

Perfection, the whole concept of being perfect is a paradox. On one level, you are perfect exactly as you are. On another level, you could use a little improvement. No one is perfect. If you ever meet someone who thinks they are perfect, their imperfection is hubris and pride.

When writing this post, I went to a site to pick a photo to go along with it. I put the word perfection in the search bar. There were 233,000 pages of photos available, many of specific body parts designed to be used for Photoshop (photo editing) versions of unrealistic standards of beauty or perfection. That mere fact showed me how important it is for someone to not hold his or her life up to unrealistic and false standards of excellence.

You might recall that I explored this aspect of our tendency to hold ourselves up to unrealistic and imaginary standards in another Wisdom Wednesday Blog (see hand-picked post link on expectations at the bottom of this page.)

So many times in life, the tendency to hold yourself up to an unrealistic and unachievable standard of perfection creates stress, anxiety, and disappointment. This can interfere with your ability to enjoy life in the moment and appreciate what is actually happening. Life does not demand perfection, but life does require learning.
        – Genevieve Gerard

The ability to learn from a mistake is one of the most fantastic and marvelous things about the human experience. Once a mistake has been made you have the ability, in your complex and remarkable mind, to immediately understand and analyze what you just experienced and quickly evaluate the success and satisfaction with the outcome. What you do not have the ability to do is to change what happened. That is now in the past. It is time to let it go of the past. It is time to forgive, either yourself or another and open up to what is now unfolding at this moment. It is time to learn by considering other options you have.

Once that has been accomplished, the experience, whatever the experience was, good or bad, beautiful or ugly, has served its function in your life. No purpose is served by criticism or judgment beyond the evaluation of how you might wish to handle this kind of situation the next time you encounter it. Ponder on this!

If you store that in your life lessons data bank, then you can move on to whatever is coming into manifestation. What is coming into manifestation is not yet created, is not yet happening, so you need not be concerned until it does. Also, you are assured that you will be given the opportunity to demonstrate and integrate what you have learned.

You are not perfect and you have no need to be perfect. Most believe only God is perfect and you are not God so you can be gentle with yourself, you can be kind to yourself and you can let whatever you have just learned to be an asset to help you cope with and handle whatever new opportunity is coming your way. You can forgive yourself for whatever mistake you might have made either by commission or by omission.

Life will present you with another chance, an opportunity to try or apply the lesson you have just learned. You do not get just one chance or even just a second chance, you get as many chances as you need, unlimited until you have learned what you are trying to learn.

Then, even after you have learned the specific lesson, life comes around again to give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learned. Therefore, it is the understanding of an experience or event in life that is important, not the perfection that is more often than not an imaginary standard.

If you think about all of the times in your life that holding an event or situation up to this imaginary measurement of perfection has left you feeling disappointed or dissatisfied then you will have learned a valuable life lesson. If you choose to apply this lesson with compassion and forgiveness, you have set the stage for a new opportunity to present itself to you.

Therefore, I urge you today, to be kind to yourself, be compassionate with yourself, and forgive yourself easily, freely and frequently. You don’t have to be perfect. You already are an excellent student of life by your nature, and that is quite sufficient. In this whole world, indeed in this entire universe, there is only one you. The only perfection you will ever need to achieve is to be you. You are already perfect in the mind of God. Any other kinds of perfection are not only not possible but also unnecessary.

For you to truly be and become all that you already are and learn and evolve and grow through life’s lessons and events is enough. Now take a deep breath in through your nose, exhale fully through your mouth, and say after me:

I am enough; I am enough exactly as I AM

Live your life to the fullest and learn from everything life deposits on your pathway.

Do the best you can with what you have available in your exact situation and circumstance and keep moving forward by learning, forgiving and opening up to whatever unusual imperfect situation is coming to you.

It might help to say or affirm when you wake up each morning:

Morning Affirmation

Today, as my life unfolds before me I am ready to learn, to gain in wisdom and understanding what it is to live.

I appreciate this adventure of life.

I open myself to experience fully all that life has available for me, today.”

        – Genevieve Gerard

This attitude and this approach to your day will set you up to enjoy whatever life brings, knowing that any mistake you may make can be forgiven. Every circumstance and situation is an opportunity to grow and learn. Seize that opportunity.

Take from it as much as you can in the present, then let it go into the past. In this way, you can appreciate the diversity of life’s adventure. Before you, the future is being created, evolving and forming, right now.

Enjoy. Grow. Thrive!

Namaste,

   Genevieve

Meeting Your Guardian Angel

Meeting Your Guardian Angel

Read my Meeting Your Guardian Angel article by Genevieve Gerard

In the realm of the invisible, where your Soul resides there is a Presence that you can bring into your conscious awareness that is your Guardian Angel.

To begin to open your mind and your heart to a greater and more conscious awareness of the Presence of your Soul starts you on a journey of living within the full scope of your being with your Soul a part of your conscious everyday awareness.

One of the benefits and blessings that come with this relationship with your Soul is that you can begin to be aware of, and access more of, the invisible world that exists beyond the material world of spirit.

I think we all do have a guardian angel. I believe they work through us all the time, when we are thoughtful and good and kind to each other.
        – Roma Downey

Within the dominion of the Soul are the angelic beings that are, like your Soul, connected with and supportive of your life. Perhaps one of the most significant of these is your Guardian Angel.

You can connect with and develop a relationship with your Soul through Meditation by the act of invitation and invocation. You can also open your heart and your mind to the impressions and guidance of your Guardian Angel.

Meditation is the portal through which you can experience and discover a world more magical and fantastic than you had ever dared to dream. The nature of your Soul is Love and as you develop a conscious relationship with your Soul that Love and that Healing Presence becomes ever more available to your conscious mind and awareness.

This Love is Divine Love and is therefore unconditional. It rejoices in the good that you do with no requirement that you do good. It is available to you but makes absolutely no demands, and it gives, in response to each time you invite it through meditation, exactly what you are ready to receive, no more, no less.

The same is true of connecting to Guardian Angels.

The footprints of an Angel in your life are Love.
       – Genevieve Gerard

Your Guardian Angel made a commitment to you, to your life, and whether or not you ever choose to become aware of that Presence consciously or not, it is there for you.

In this way, your Soul Presence and your Guardian Angel are alike. Both are composed of the essence of Divine Love. Both Love you unconditionally. Both await in readiness and willingness your desire for relationship with absolutely no demand or requirement that you ever turn to them.

The full extent of this incredible nature of unconditional love is beyond the typical experience of our human consciousness. It reveals the truth that God is Love, and on some level may explain some of the mystery of how God demonstrates and expresses Love to us through the emissary of your Soul and your Guardian Angel.

So much of the true nature of the life of the Soul and the Presence of the Guardian Angel is a mystery because the concepts of eternal life and eternal commitments of Love are beyond what our human personality, ego, mind or even emotions can truly grasp.

However, when you open yourself, your mind and your heart to the experience of Divine Love, whether it is through prayer or meditation, the grace and the joy that accompanies that inflowing blessing can be amazing.

Just know that when you turn your attention to Divine Love it is available to you for the asking.

When you open to the Presence, whether it be to call upon your own Soul for greater relationship, insight or wisdom, or to call upon God in prayer or your own Guardian Angel, there is no wrong way to do it.

How To Meet Your Guardian Angel

All of the teachers and guides who have ever walked the earth in the annals of time can only share their wisdom and insight from the perspective of what worked for them or what was revealed to them. Although their teachings or my own can be used as a guide, this journey is unique to you.

Your Soul and your Guardian Angel are both deeply committed to you and your life experience so that you learn, grow and manifest the plan and purpose that guides all lives. That there are an overall plan and purpose of evolution is to me both comforting and inspiring. To call upon your Guardian Angel and your Soul to receive the wisdom, insight, and revelation to understand and support your manifestation and fulfillment of that purpose just makes sense. To leave such powerful and dynamic resources untapped does not.

My writings and my guided meditations provide you, to the best of my ability, an opening to these energies. However; the experience you get when you make the conscious choice to open yourself to your relationship with your Soul or your Guardian Angel is completely individual to you, and it is determined by your readiness and willingness to be receptive to it.

That said I will provide you with a simple technique to use to open the portal to meeting your Guardian Angel.

A Simple Technique to Meet Your Guardian Angel

As always, I remind you to Calm Your Mind, Open Your Heart, and Invite the Light.

Sit quietly and receptively with the intention to come into conscious awareness of your Guardian Angel. It is always helpful in meditation to have your spine aligned and your feet firmly on the earth.

Bring your awareness to your heart and imagine a connection of Light from your heart to the top of your head (called your crown chakra.) Imagine that Light continuing to ascend to a radiant point of Light 3 to 6 feet above your physical head (which represents your Soul.)

Realize that by doing that simple visualization from your crown to the Light of your Soul you are building, with intention and etheric substance, a rainbow bridge to your Soul that is called the Antahkarana.

Then say in your mind and heart this
Mantra of Invitation:

Beloved Come

Infuse . . . Inflame . . . Instill . . .

Incorporate in living substance,

All Thy Will.

Then I recommend sitting quietly and receptively for the next 10 to 15 minutes. In that time if you are keeping a Spiritual Journal (as I recommend) you may wish to record the impressions and insights you receive.

Remember that communication with the Angelic realm and the Soul comes in the stillness.

An attitude of gratitude for what you have received is also always a good idea.

Once the time you have set aside for meditation has passed return to your daily life and agenda knowing you are enhancing and empowering your life by keeping this sacred time.

I know that your life will be blessed by this intention and invitation to Meet Your Guardian Angel. This ability is your birthright as a child of God.

Namaste,

   Genevieve

3 Questions To Ask Yourself To X Out Expectations

3 Questions To Ask Yourself To
“X” Out Expectations

Expectations by Genevieve Gerard

There is a simple way that you can immediately increase your happiness and enjoy your life more.

It is by freeing yourself from the expectations you have layered onto your life.

Those expectations not only cause you pain but they are most often a fantasy of something that is both untrue and unreal.

Many, dare I say most of our expectations come from a belief that any event or situation in life “should” be different than it is. This tendency to hold our lives up to the judgment that any circumstance “should” be different than what it is, or what is expected, is a guarantee to interfere with the ability to enjoy and appreciate what is actually happening in your life.

If you were to actually consider where most of these “should” thoughts originate you would realize that many of them come from media input, found in television, movies, and magazines. It is important to understand that these stories have been created and edited to match up with fantasy expectations of life. They are not real stories of real people, and even when they are taken from real-life stories they have most often been manipulated to make a good drama or an engaging comedy. They are not real life. Real-life, your real life, when freed from these projections of unrealistic expectations is for most people filled with many opportunities and blessings if you stop to evaluate your life realistically.

Happy endings (an obsession with many American audiences,) and happily ever after, a required part of the modern fairy tale, are a fantasy. To meet this need for happy conclusions, many foreign filmmakers create alternate endings, one for American audiences and a more realistic and some might say sad ending for other parts of the world. That practice has waned as the worldwide media distribution has carried the proliferation of unrealistic expectations to the far reaches of the earth.

It seems to me that even though you probably know that these imitations of life are not life itself it is all too easy to hold your life up to these fantasy portrayals in your mind. Then, unfortunately, you experience the pain of disappointment when your life fails to measure up. The fact that these expectations came not from your observation of reality, but rather from the illusions of the media industry might never cross your mind.

Dealing with your expectations and freeing yourself from the litany of “should” and “ought’s” is one of the single most powerful things you can do to increase your joy and satisfaction with your life. Dropping unrealistic expectations of how an event or situation “should be” opens you up to be able to experience what is actually happening in your life. Frequently, when you stop evaluating your life through the fantasy the media portrays you realize just how amazing your life really is.

This single shift in your perspective does so much to make your life happier and more fulfilling that I began in my own life journey to refer to the times that I was “shoulding” on myself with the byline of “how I make myself miserable.” Fortunately, since the fantasy of these “happily ever after” “happy endings” are clearly not real, a little application of logic and a simple decision to “X” out the expectations and let yourself look at your life without holding it up to an imaginary standard goes a long way to increase your experience of pleasure and happiness.

You were born with an amazing mind and it is helpful to use your mind to shift your perception. I have prepared a few questions you might pose to yourself when you find yourself caught up in the thrall of unrealistic expectations.

The Questions To Ask Yourself:

1. “Who says I “should”?

Britney Spears Before & After Airbrush
Britney Spears Airbrush

This may be one of the most powerful questions to ask yourself.

Xing out expectations is a process of freeing yourself of often well-established glamours and illusions in your mind so it is helpful to identify the “voice” that is generating that message.

This identification of either who in your life or where in your life you developed the message that you “should” is very freeing.

Very often that “should” comes from the news, television, magazines, or the movies and your logical mind can immediately comprehend is not real life and therefore is not a realistic standard by which to judge an event or situation.

If this is from someone else, a parent, a sibling or friend look objectively at their life and consider if their life meets this imaginary expectation. Most often, it does not.

Brittany Murphy Photoshopped to fill expectations

Just ask yourself, “who says I should ______________” and fill in the blank.

As an example, “who says I should try to look like a movie star in order to
feel glamourous and feel good about myself
?”

As you can see, even movie stars don’t really look like movie stars (in everyday life.)

2. “Why Not Me”?

This is a very revealing question. In my years of counseling and coaching individuals often ask “why me” when dealing with catastrophic life circumstances. I coined a phrase to address that question. I would ask, “why not you?.” I would often then say, “Show me the ‘life guarantee’ you got with your birth certificate and I will make God honor it.”

In over 40 years, I never once saw such a guarantee.

3. “Is that experience really better than what is really happening?

This is a question where I often, and I hope you can upon examining a situation or circumstance, realize that actually what is really happening is not only perfectly fine but is often preferable to what was being proposed in the unattainable “should” category.

Asking yourself the three simple questions does a lot to free you from the pain and sorrow that evaluating your life based upon unrealistic fantasy expectations cause. Freeing yourself of expectations opens you to experience, appreciate and enjoy your life. It is a way to enable you to feel the full breadth of joy that is available to you in any moment of time.

Bringing your consciousness and attention into what is actually happening in any given moment of time and leaving behind the expectations and illusions of “shoulda, coulda, oughta” gives you the strength to deal with what is real in your life. And although not every event or circumstance in your life will be exactly what you may wish it to be, experiencing what is really happening is so much more satisfying and fulfilling than trying to live up to your unfulfilled expectations that can never be.

This simple application of your logical mind can create greater joy and satisfaction in your life.

Clearing your life of the self-induced sorrow and pain of never-ending expectations will be freeing and will open you up to the unlimited potential and magnificent possibilities that life can bring with each new day.

Namaste,

   Genevieve

An Invitation to Your Soul

An Invitation to Your Soul:

The First Step to Greater Soul Awareness

Read An Invitation to Your Soul by Genevieve Gerard

This article is part of my ongoing series on Soul Awareness and Soul Awakening.

Do you believe that you have a Soul?

Does having a living and empowering relationship with your Soul interest you?

My purpose in this article is to talk with you about your Soul. I want to expose you to ideas of how you can come into greater communication and a sense of connection and integration with your Soul so that your Soul’s power and magnificence can be a conscious part of your life.

Invite Your Soul

The journey to Soul consciousness is a great journey, but like all great journeys, it begins with a single step. You can choose to take that step today. You can choose to open your heart and your mind to the awareness of the presence of your Soul. This single step begins by choosing to be aware of what you experience or sense when you consciously invite your Soul to make itself known to you.

This step of invitation to your Soul may sound strange to you. After all, your Soul is an integral part of you. Why would it be important for you to issue consciously an invitation to your Soul to reveal itself to your consciousness? Consider if you will those moments, those times when you feel you may have experienced the presence of your Soul.

It may have been in a time of deep prayer or meditation. It could have been in a time of profound sorrow when the Soul revealed itself to you in the role of comforter. These fleeting times may well have been held reverently in your heart as a precious blessing that you don’t have the words to express.

That there are not adequate words in our language (or any language I know of in the world) to discuss the Soul is part of why the Soul is a mystery. It is amazing that the Soul, the seat of your Divine Spark and portal to your relationship with God should have so little written about it.

Soulful References

When I began teaching about consciously connecting with your Soul and developed guided meditation experiences to help people come into awareness of the presence of their Soul I thought I could find a vast resource in the Bible. However, I was astonished to find very little to reveal the nature of the Soul and nothing about how to increase your individual relationship and understanding of the nature of your Soul and its role in your life, which I know personally to be of profound importance.

The best resource I found in the Bible for understanding the role of the relationship with the Soul is found in the Book of Psalms, mostly in the Psalms of King David who clearly had the kind of personal relationship with the Soul that my spiritual practice and journey revealed to be so important. The Book of Psalms reveals the joy of a deep relationship with your Soul and how it supports your relationship with God.

As I expanded my search to find sources for the words to describe the Soul and its role and significant relationship in life, I discovered that although the Soul is an accepted dynamic or presence in life, it is most often referred to in poetry, or song. The Book of Psalms is a perfect example of this poetic language. I found this very vagueness to be intriguing. Unfortunately, expanding my search to even the very ancient spiritual literature of the Bhagavad Gita was not revealing.

Poets such as Hafiz, Rumi, and Omar Kham all write beautifully of the Soul. Certainly, the existence of the Soul is embedded in the human heart in some archetypal level of awareness. In much of the Western world, children went to bed saying the prayer: “Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord, my Soul, to keep. If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my Soul to take.” This simple child’s prayer speaks to your deep understanding of the Soul as the everlasting part of your being. It acknowledges the integral relationship between God and your Soul.

The one thing in the world, of value, is the active soul.”
      – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Ageless Wisdom

My quest for greater understanding of the Soul and its role in relation to an individual life led me, as so much of my study does, to the Ageless Wisdom. There I found much discussion of the optimum relationship of the Soul with the personality, the mind, and the body. It is from that body of work that I learned that I could call upon the wisdom of my Soul as an integral part of the wholeness of my being.

Also throughout the teachings of the Ageless Wisdom are mantras to use in meditation to enhance the conscious relationship and integration of the Soul, many of which I have sprinkled through my articles. According to the Ageless Wisdom, identifying with your Soul, through the power of an “I Am” statement is extremely powerful. Ponder on this.

Likewise, in my years of guiding and teaching people to enter into greater experience and awareness of their Soul, I have found that stating clearly your intention when you meditate to receive the guidance or the wisdom of your Soul in addition to consciously issuing an invitation to your Soul is a significant step.

Developing a Relationship with Your Soul

Your Soul is an integral part of you, but do you pay attention to it? Developing a relationship with your Soul is like all relationships in life, it takes attention. The more you strengthen and enhance that relationship the more it is accessible to you at your need.

There are subtle yet significant factors related to the principles of free will that have an impact upon how your relationship with your Soul is nurtured. Thankfully, your Soul knows these and can guide you through the development of a greater and more profound relationship, once an invitation is issued.

As with all relationships, attention and constancy are beneficial. Although your Soul loves you completely, and unconditionally it requires nothing from you (as your “personality” self.) To move into the full potential of a Soul relationship and Soul integration of what is possible and available for you only takes providing the time and space for communication and awareness as a part of your daily meditation practice.

Making a connection with your chakra energy centers to your Soul is called, “building the Antahkarana.” This bridge of Light and energy makes your Soul connection more accessible.

A Simple Soul Connection Meditation

To begin I recommend sitting quietly and receptively. Take a deep breath through your nose and let it out completely through your mouth. Do this three times while you relax and release any stress and get centered.

Imagine your Soul as a radiating point of golden Light 3 to 6 feet above your head.

The Light of the Soul Descends
Soul Light Descending

As you enter into a meditative state, it is important to “Calm your mind, open your heart, and invite the Light.” Then identify with your Soul as an integral part of your being by saying this Soul Mantram with intention and affirmation.

I am the Soul
I am Light Divine
I am Love
I am Will
I am Fixed Design
I am the Soul infusing the personality
I am the personality Soul-infused
As the Unified Self, I invoke the One
The One in Whom we live and move and have our Being

Then sit quietly and receptively in meditation and ponder on these phrases.

I have found it very helpful to then record your thoughts and impressions in a journal. I have over the years received amazing revelations and understanding from this process.

I encourage you to use the practice of meditation to invite a connection with your Soul and develop a relationship and get to know the wonder of your Soul.

Namaste,

Genevieve

Are You Still Carrying the Past?

Are You Still Carrying the Past?

Are You Still Carrying The Past - Genevieve Gerard - Wisdom Wednesday

There is an old Koan that tells a story of two monks who were traveling from their monastery to a neighboring monastery far away.

Now a Koan is a story that Zen masters of old told to impart an important lesson.

A Koan is a story the student is to ponder to learn an underlying truth that leads them to intuitive enlightenment.

Long ago in my spiritual training, my Zen Master told this one to me. It is one of my favorite stories. Today I share it with you.

The Story

Two monks were traveling on a long journey. As was the way of the times, they were walking. Their journey eventually took them to a stream that was rapid and overflowing. As they were considering the best way to cross the stream, a beautiful maiden approached them.

It was the tradition of Buddhist monks that they take vows of celibacy so these monks had little experience with or exposure to beautiful maidens. The woman explained that she must get to the other side of the flooded stream and had not been able to cross. She asked for help.

One of the monks, upon hearing of her difficulty swept the woman up into his arms and carried her across the flooded water. He gently deposited the maiden on the opposite bank. She thanked him profusely. Then he walked on.

When his brother monk had also made his way across the stream, the two monks traveled on. As they walked, there was an uncomfortable silence between them. The brother monk seemed to be agitated and annoyed.

Eventually the monk inquired of his brethren monk what the cause of his distress was. The monk finally blurted out in anger and judgment. “I don’t understand how and why you could touch that woman. We, monks, have vowed to have nothing to do with a woman.”

After a few moments of considering what had distressed his brother the monk stated calmly “Brother, I left the woman back at the stream, are you still carrying her?”

This simple Koan speaks to the distress that is trapped in judgments and anger. The longer you hold onto that judgment and that anger the more you are trapped and limited from moving on. Clinging to your anger and righteous indignation can keep you from enjoying and appreciating what re opportunities and possibilities are before you. Clinging to those feelings, especially holding on to resentments keep you unable to see what is available in the present, in the moment, in the NOW.

I have always liked this simple story because it is clear that the angry monk did no harm to anyone but himself. The Buddha is reported to have said “It is not that you will be punished for your anger, but that you will be punished by your anger.” Ponder on this.

To carry your anger forward from the event that initially created the anger is one of the most significant ways we interfere in our own happiness, our ability to enjoy life, and our ability to experience true joy.

EXPERIENCING EMOTIONS

Of course, it is natural for us all to experience anger. That is an unavoidable part of our human experience. However, once someone has done something that makes you angry you get to decide how long you wish to carry it with you. In that decision, you decide how much you choose to be hurt and ultimately held back by the anger.

An emotion, any emotion, but particularly a strong emotion like anger has a flow to it, much like diving into a pool of water. When you dive, you know instinctively how deep into the water to take the dive before you naturally and spontaneously turn to the sky and come out of the dive.

When you take that natural and spontaneous feeling of anger and layer it with judgment (they shouldn’t have done that to me), resentment (I deserve to be treated better) and any of the other justifications you can create to cling to the anger, you are prolonging the pain of the initial injury. This is where you have a choice that can have a far-reaching impact on your life. This is the crucial point where the choices you make have an impact on how much joy you have.

In the thrall of your anger, judgment and righteous resentment at the wrong, it may be difficult to see that you have a choice. But anything beyond that initial spontaneous flash of the emotion of the anger is within your control, your choice. You might ask what you can do other than experience the outrage? You might wonder what choice I am talking about. You could feel completely trapped in that past event and see no possible solutions; after all, you were wronged.

Aren’t you totally justified being angry and resentful? To that, I say yes that may be true. But I ask you for your consideration, why would you choose to? What happened, whatever happened, is now in the past. The question I would ask for your consideration is what does bringing it into the present and carrying it with you give you? It certainly does not make you happy.

You can let go of the past pain, sorrow or injury by coming into present time and releasing the past. That immediately frees you from the burden of carrying old hurts. I understand it may require forgiving the person who hurt you. They may well not even deserve your forgiveness. The freedom that your forgiveness gives is to you, not them. The life forgiveness most influences is yours.

FORGIVENESS

Forgiveness is a way that you can put what is past behind you and move forward in your life to whatever new experience and adventure that life places before you. You do not have to choose to carry old hurts and waves of anger around with you. Ironically, the person who wronged you may not ever know that you forgave them. That really is not important. If you are in an ongoing relationship with that person they may sense it on some intuitive level, or you may choose to tell them. However, the most important change that takes place when you release an old anger is within you.

By forgiving, you are now free. You are no longer limiting your ability to seize the new opportunities that are unfolding before you because of something outside of this moment. By choosing to let go of the past you are empowering your life.

A SIMPLE FORGIVENESS TECHNIQUE

A very simple technique of forgiveness that I have found to be very freeing and very powerful comes from an old Hawaiian teaching called Hoʻoponopono [ho-o-pono-pono] (an ancient Hawaiian practice of reconciliation and forgiveness.) Please note, I have added a few additional phrases to the standard teaching.

The Traditional Phrases are:

  • I love you.

  • I’m sorry.

  • Please forgive me.

  • Thank you.

The additional phrases that I sometimes also add are:

  • I forgive you.

  • And

  • I forgive myself.

The elegance of this technique is its simplicity. All you have to say in your mind is the specific repetitive phrases above when observing the behaviors of those around you. Keep repeating the phrases no matter what is happening or what anyone is doing.

Beyond using the power of your mind there is nothing you need to do or say out loud. You don’t have to belabor the circumstance; the focus on these phrases creates the release.

IN CONCLUSION

The freedom to be in the present releases you from the past and opens you up to enjoy the possibilities of the future while you experience more joy in your life at this moment.

At times, although this technique is very simple it may seem hard for you. That is OK. Simple is different from easy. When you find it difficult to release the past or forgive it, it might be revealing to ask yourself what are you getting from clinging to an old hurt or wrong.

For many the lure of clinging to the past is the reassurance that you were right, and therefore, the other persons were wrong. Certainly, that reassurance is not worth carrying the pain of the anger with you and it is not worth limiting the potential and possibilities that are emerging in your unobstructed life as the future is unfolding.

Therefore, I encourage you to choose to stop carrying the hurts of the past and open yourself up to the new opportunities that will be revealed to you. You will be happier. You will be immediately rewarded with a greater lightness and more joy.

Namaste,

   Genevieve

Into The Silence

Into the Silence: Ways To Calm Your Mind

Read Into The Silence article by Genevieve Gerard

It is in the silence that we can hear the still quiet promptings of our Soul.

It is in the silence that the Peace that Passes Understanding is Revealed.

It is when we enter into the silence that we can hear the voice of God.

The silence is a full and fertile experience opening us to an inner world that the noise of the world drowns out, and the chattering of our mind obscures.

We are instructed in the Bible to “Be still and know that I am God.” For many, perhaps for you, that stillness is hard to achieve.

To experience that silence and that deep stillness is the purpose of meditation. The portal to meditation opens when you calm your mind, open your heart and invite the Light. Each guided meditation that I have created over the years begins with the instruction to calm your mind, open your heart, invite the Light.

However, as I move through my life I hear people say, repeatedly, that they find it difficult to meditate. It seems that for many it is the first part of that injunction “Calm the Mind” that is so challenging. It makes sense then that how to teach a meditator to experience a calm mind has been the work of sages, yogis, and gurus since there have been teachers on the path to enlightened awareness.

For many people, the chatter generated in their minds drowns out the silence. This “chattering” is anything but calming for all too often it is jammed with fears, negative self-judgment, and criticism. It is liberally laced too with the unfulfilled expectation of both themselves and others.

The silence of a calm mind may seem out of reach to you. The mind’s chatter, although you are sitting quietly, may be anything but silent. This is why the regular practice of meditation is so important. It begins to school the mind that your meditation time is a sacred space and a safe space to give the chatter of your mind a rest.

It is in the silence of the calm mind and the open heart that the guidance of the Soul and Presence of God can be experienced. There are many ways that we can move toward that calmness of mind. What way you choose at any given moment of time can be varied and responsive to the events and circumstances in your life when you choose.

HOW LONG SHOULD I MEDITATE?

What seems significant is that you set aside the time and have the desire and intention to calm your mind, open your heart and invite the Light. It does not have to be a long period of time that is set aside. Ten to fifteen minutes a day would make a great difference in your life. You do not have to go away from the world as the holy men of ages past did to achieve enlightenment. You can learn to meditate and receive the many benefits and blessings of meditation right where you live and in the midst of your busy life today.

Now some may say, “I don’t have time to meditate every day.” The old wisdom response to that is to say,

If you don’t have time to meditate every day,
then meditate 2 times a day.”
        – Anonymous

If you don’t think you can take the time, take that as a sign that you can benefit even more than others from meditation.

I suggest and encourage at least a daily practice of meditation because the health benefits and the consciousness and prospective benefits are best incorporated into your life with consistency and continuity. Whereas any technique of meditation when practiced regularly can positively and dramatically transform your life, some you will find easier than others to help you experience the calmness of mind and dampening of mind chatter that is desired.

In my teaching, I found that guiding people in a meditation and focusing their minds on a particular awareness is most effective. That is why I have created so very many guided meditations.

To choose to meditate, to set aside the time with the intention and the desire to calm your mind, open your heart and experience the Light of your Soul or to hear the still quiet voice of God is what is important. How you do it is not as important. That you take the time is of paramount importance.

WHAT WORKS?

I found over the many years that I have practiced daily meditation that one technique or another best suits an individual day, situation or circumstance. Personally, I have changed meditation methods frequently. Although it is human nature for someone to think that their way is the only way, I suggest that within you is wisdom that can direct your choices, that of your Higher Self. In the world are a myriad of instructions and a wide variety of products to choose from. Some are free and some charge a fee. Some techniques are very simple and easy. Others require deep understanding. What works for you is best revealed with experimentation.

Any time you have, at the conclusion of the meditation time experienced, a greater calmness of your body, your emotions or your mind you have gained a great deal. The more often you open yourself to that experience, even if it is in the brief period it takes to think an affirmation or a seed thought, you are opening your life to a richer and deeper awareness.

In addition to guided meditation, using a mantra as either an invocation and evocation, or a repetition of a specific thought focus, or saying an affirmation are all effective tools. Pondering Koans (stories used by Zen masters to instruct on important consciousness points), saying Psalms, repeating a rosary or repeating a favorite prayer in your mind are also meditative experiences. Although there are subtle differences between the experience of prayer and meditation a prayer can often be used to quiet the mind sufficiently to bring you into the receptive part of a meditation experience, the silence.

The use of prayer beads that help followers use repetitive prayers or statements as a mantra are also a way to help you to meditate. Repetitive movements with repetitive thoughts are all ancient ways to meditate. The repetition of a Psalm or prayer is a form of coming into alignment with your Soul, as is chanting. Whatever the language used or technique employed it is the intention to open your mind and your heart to the presence of the Divine and open up to your Soul’s Light that makes the transformation happen.

Within you is a wisdom that will direct your path if you only open your heart and your mind to its Presence. You may have noticed that I often direct you in my writings to tune into that Presence and refer to it as the Soul or your Higher Self. I do this because not only are the health benefits of meditation well documented by science but there are very few things you can do in life that has as powerful and profound a positive influence as meditation, on your health or on your ability to be successful.

SOME SIMPLE MEDITATION TECHNIQUES

A very simple technique would be to declare your intention by affirming and saying:

I am of calm mind,
as I open my heart,
I invite the Light “
        – Genevieve Gerard

Then just sit in the silence, quietly and reflectively.

Of course, there is much more you can do and add to the experience but your intention to have a meditative experience once you have set aside the time is a first step. Then you can add other techniques, guided meditations, repetitive mantras, affirmations, prayers or whatever of the vast array of what is offered in the world that you feel guided to.

In a recent article, I discussed the power of an “I Am” statement. You can create a mantra to repeat in your mind out of “I Am” that defines the Presence you wish to experience that day.

Examples would be:

  • I Am Love
  • I Am Peace
  • I Am Joy

It is in the silence, the time to limit the input of your mind’s chatter as much as possible and in the quiet removal from the world’s input, that the magic of meditation happens. There are some who have created audio meditations where the sound is scientifically modulated (alpha, theta, and the deepest delta waves) to bring you into a specific meditative experience. These are helpful for some people as a way of conquering the mind chatter and putting you in a meditative state.

TAKE THE TIME TO MEDITATE

Because for me meditation has been the portal to joy and love, insight, and understanding and a sense of harmony and union with God and all of life, I encourage you to set aside the time to have a meditative experience. You can start the practice now.

I do encourage regularity. The repetition helps your mind calm as it recognizes that this is the time to be calm, too quiet the chattering mind, to tune in and receive insight.

This then becomes a sacred time as you acknowledge and recognize:

This is the time to be still.

This is the time to let yourself just be.

This is the time to open your heart to the expansion of love.

This is the time to be open to the guidance of the Light of your Soul
and the promptings of the Divine.

Taking this time is a gift you can give yourself that will repay you with blessings beyond measure. To be touched by the Presence of your Soul or to hear in the silence the voice of God guiding you, loving you or comforting you is the gift that meditation can give.

This time, set aside by you is for you and will be a blessing that can transform your life empowering you to be and become all that you are meant to be.

Namaste,

   Genevieve

It All Depends on Your Perspective

It All Depends on Your Perspective

Read It All Depends On Your Perspective blog post by Genevieve Gerard

How you experience something is influenced by your perspective.

Everything that happens in life is always being processed, cataloged and interpreted by the combined influence of the input of your physical senses, sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch.

As quickly and spontaneously as that information is noted and processed a flood of emotion is added to the situation. Immediately, your quicksilver mind begins evaluating, processing and analyzing. The sum total of your life experience is spontaneously judging and comparing what is being experienced.

The power of realizing this amazing way that information and events are being experienced is that you have the potential to interpret and truly understand an event simultaneously. This gives you great power to be in the role of the director in your life.

In spiritual teaching, in the Ageless Wisdom and in so much of psychological and motivational thinking is the reminder that how you react to any life circumstance is important. Every situation and happening require interpretation. In that process of interpretation lays a profound secret of being happy vs. sad, frightened or excited, fulfilled or disappointed.

When you wake up every day, you have two choices. You can either be positive or negative; an optimist or a pessimist. I choose to be an optimist. It’s all a matter of perspective.
      ~ Harvey Mackay

Perspective is important. Unfortunately, so much of your response to an occurrence is framed in an automatic almost knee-jerk reaction to what is happening and does not come from a fair evaluation and comprehension of what is unfolding. So much is being colored by fear and the desire to avoid pain that it takes being conscious and living in the moment when you consider something to have a true perspective.

This is one of the reasons that when you do the personal work to release your fears you can have a cumulative effect on every aspect of your life.

To be able to consider something consciously requires a multitude of very important and significant factors.

Perhaps the most important factor to consider when you are evaluating and responding to something is to ask if your response is based on what is happening right here, right now in your present situation.

This is very important because the tendency to respond to something is often influenced by the past. Unfortunately, in making a correlation between something that is happening in the present and in the past, all too often fears come in. Once fear enters the equation, whether it be from the input of your mind chatter (also at times called the “Monkey Mind”), you are no longer experiencing the present, the moment, the NOW, but living in the past.

When you observe the influence of the past from the perspective of the detached observer, you are able to shift your consciousness into the present moment, and that can transform your experience of the past or the present.
      ~ Genevieve Gerard

The realization you gain as the detached observer enables you to engage consciously the power of your mind to reframe and reinterpret your experiences of the past.

To use your awareness and your perspective in this empowering way enables you to be the director in your life rather than the actor and reactor. It allows you to harness the incredible power of your mind to manifest the life that you have dreamt about. It puts you into an active and vibrant partnership with your Higher Self or Soul so that you can be a co-creator in your life with that Source.

In order for you to experience this and have a better understanding, I will share with you a detached observer technique.

Seeing As the Detached Observer

– a technique to transform your life

The first step in this process is found in really understanding the word “detached.” When you look at your life, events and situations using the detached observer technique it is important to be as “detached” as you possibly can. The detached observer does not judge or criticize; the observer only needs to observe.

It helps if you realize that the part of you that is the observer is the Higher Self. By affirming and connecting with your Higher Self in the start of this process, you have already shifted your perspective to a more enlightened awareness of the situation.

The second step is to focus your attention and determining how much of what you are experiencing is leftover fears of frustration or failure from the past. You are then able to enter into the present as you consciously and with intention put the past behind you, knowing and affirming that the past is powerless in the present moment and in the future. What has the potential to be created now is filled to the brim with potential and possibility because it is yet to be manifested.

Next you want to reinforce further your alignment with your Soul. This can be aided by the addition of the aspect of Divine Will into the unfoldment of your circumstance or situation. Your will, intention and goals will be enhanced when they are in union with Divine Will in your role as a co-creator of your life with the Divine.

Ultimately, focusing your conscious mind on being in the present also has a ripple effect on your life because by doing this you release your fears that are based on your past or your unknown possible future. This further empowers you when you, again consciously, choose to observe without judgment or criticism, stilling the toxic mind chatter of “should have, would have, could have” thinking.

While using this detached observer technique it is helpful to take deep and relaxing breaths. You may be pleasantly surprised how much stress you can relieve by doing this. Simply breathe in deeply through your nose and breathe out long relaxing breaths through your mouth.

Next having aligned with your Higher Self, and opened your mind to the objective assessment that is required to be detached be open to automatically creating a shift in your perspective and perception. This new perspective and perception are now having a dynamic change for good in your life.

With this new frame of reference you can now consciously reframe your interpretation of the situation and apply insights or use techniques such as affirmations; I am statements, or even prayers, meditative ponderings and invocations to reinforce what you have realized in this perspective shifting technique.

It is also frequently reported that using the method of the detached observer and accordingly releasing the fears that come from the past, has a healing influence on your emotions as you realize that you are not bound or limited by your past beliefs that may have been limiting you.

Remember, you can receive these benefits when you consciously align with your Soul and use your mind as the powerful tool that it is in your life.

Having now aligned with the consciousness, the Love and the wisdom of your Soul, it is with your mind and your emotions that your personality must incorporate the new insights, the promptings and the guidance you have received. You are a whole being as a human being.

Finally, to actually manifest your full possibility and potential in life you must utilize, integrate and incorporate the wholeness of yourself, calling upon and using all of you, valuing and including all of the input awareness granted to you by your body with your five senses, then appreciate the sensing’s that are provided by your emotions and the insight of your intellect and mind. This is the information that your personality can integrate and utilize instantly in any and every life situation. The simplest way to reinforce this is with regular meditation.

I have found daily meditation is a powerful tool for helping you free your fears and clear your energy field of the congestion of clinging to old hurts, past failures, and past pains. Although I recommend daily meditation, when you are working to release the residuals of your fears and your sorrows, it helps to do an energetic clearing technique throughout the day to help process these emotions.

Because of the law that “energy follows thought” you are able to use your thoughts to release your fears throughout the day while you are busy living your life. Recently, I was speaking to a friend of mine, and we were talking about 2 of my most effective healing meditations “I am Feeling Free” and the longer “Feeling Free” meditation. I shared that during the most difficult times in my life I used the energetic clearing techniques included in these two meditations hundreds of times in a day. Moreover, I still use this technique (that you can do instantly in any situation) whenever I find myself experiencing anger, frustration or fear.

I hope you now have a better understanding that the sooner you clear away the residual of an uncomfortable or unsettling experience, the sooner you can be in present time and react and respond to life free of what is having an influence over you from the past, from your fears or from your limiting beliefs so that you can take advantage of what opportunity of possibility is in the here and now for you.

Namaste,

Genevieve

The Magic of Saying I AM

The Magic of Saying “I Am”

Read The Magic of Saying I Am by Genevieve Gerard

“I Am” are two of the most powerful words that can be said. Those words direct not only your thoughts but also your very being and becoming.

The magic of the “I Am” words are that they are a way by which you can direct your life and direct yourself to be and become the person you want to be; what you intend to be, the person who deep in your heart and mind and Soul you know yourself to be.

Those simple words have dominion over the very fabric of your life in a way that begins a chain reaction to bring into your life the circumstances and events that make the “I Am” statement true.

The famous philosopher Descartes had a profound influence upon humanity’s understanding of being and consciousness with his famous declaration “I think therefore I am.” It could also be said that in truth “I am therefore I think.”

Now many people, perhaps you, might ask what the difference is. And others might say who cares? These are some of the word plays and considerations that may only interest the philosophers in the world. Long ago in my college days, I learned that my fascination with these thoughts and subtle distinctions were not shared with most of my fellow students.

Plato with his dialogues and Descartes with his famous statement were all too often greeted with an attitude of “so what?” Yet, over a lifetime of exploring the nature of truth I have found that it is in the pondering and exploration of these admittedly subtle differentiations that an incredible power can be unlocked. It is the power to help you manifest your life purpose and destiny. It is the power to help you transform your life.

To unlock the magic of saying “I Am” it is helpful to understand some of the subtle ways that this statement works. Perhaps the most revealing consideration would be to ask, who is the “I” that is saying “I Am”?

This may seem like a silly question to some, but to me, it is an essential distinction of empowering you to gain mastery in your Life. The I who makes that potent declaration is an amazing creation, a human being, and as a human function on many levels of energy concurrently, often unconscious of all of the tools, power, and gifts with which the Creator has granted a human being. The “I” is the Soul, your Soul, that which has created and directs your life force.

It is in understanding these different tools and in learning to use them consciously, with the intention that you can come into your full power and expression of all that means. First of all, it is helpful to clarify and understand that you are a Soul, having the adventure of your life, a human experience. It is to you as a Soul that you have been granted the role and responsibility of being a co-creator with God. It is when you are identified with your Soul that you have the power to manifest the full glory, the full power and the full potential of a beloved child of God.

It is in that powerful statement of “I Am” that you are brought into alignment with the very highest part of yourself. When you state “I Am,” particularly with the intention and desire of connecting with and aligning with your Soul, you are releasing powerful magic that is shrouded in a deep affirmation of spiritual truth. Therefore, I invite you to use the following ancient mantra to help you come to conscious awareness and identification with your Soul.

It is best to use this mantra with openness and heartfelt intention and desire to connect with and experience your Soul. As you sit quietly and receptively have your spine aligned, and your feet placed firmly on the floor. Then say in your mind the words of the mantra as you read them.

The Soul Mantra

I am the Soul
I am Light Divine
I am Love
I am Will
I am Fixed Design
I am the Soul infusing the personality
I am the personality Soul infused

Following using this mantra I suggest being quiet and receptive as you listen in the quiet to what may become apparent to you through the prompting and revelation from your Soul. Ponder on this.

The Soul speaks and guides with promptings and insights and intuition.

Often, in my writings I encourage you to connect with your Soul, to invoke the wisdom or direction of your Soul. I recommend that you use this portal of awareness, affirming your identification with your Soul, to make available to your conscious mind, personality and emotions the clarity, guidance, and wisdom of your Soul.

Using the mantra with your mind calm and your heart open will help you to experience your Soul.

The more you use this Mantram, the more you call upon the wisdom of your Soul to guide your life, the more you are choosing to live as the amazing creation that you are.

Your Soul is a vital part of your wholeness as a human being. You are not a person who is having a spiritual experience but truly a Soul having a life experience. This shift in your identification of yourself with the powerful “I Am” statement creates a ripple effect in your life, bringing you into greater alignment and integration with your whole self. In so doing it puts you into greater alignment and integration with God, whether you experience God as Creator, Source, Father or Higher Power. It is through the identification of yourself as Soul that you can begin to manifest your role and ultimate destiny as a child of God and your amazing gift as a co-creator with God.

Understanding this mystery of the nature of life, the nature of what it means to be a human being and what it means to be a beloved child of God, reveals so much that can be used to unlock your full power.

The potential of using this mantra in meditation becomes its reward. Using the powerful tool of affirmation by incorporating the “I Am” affirmation is something to use with conscious intention. Keeping an “I Am” statement short and clear limits the possible contamination of your mind chatter, which may resist the truth you are affirming.

When you identify yourself from your Soul’s point of view with an “I Am” affirmation you are invoking a subtle magical power and influence in your life. Therefore, choosing or creating an affirmation for yourself requires careful and conscious thought.

There is within the teachings of the Ageless Wisdom an important law in the universe called “The Law of Unintended Consequences.” The existence of this law is among many subtle and powerful universal laws that might be familiar to you, such as the law that “Energy Follows Thought” of which I have frequently written and the better-known “Law of Attraction.” Many of these laws are activated by using an “I Am” declaration. Ponder on this.

I Have Created An Affirmation To Share With You Today

I am created in the substance and image of God to know love and joy.”
      – Genevieve Gerard

I encourage you to unlock your power and your potential by the use of the “I Am” statements of the Soul Mantram and to use other affirmations that are out in the world and available.

Some other simple yet powerful affirmations that you can weave throughout your day to reveal the truth to you as you go about your daily life are:

  • I am Love

  • I am Light

  • I am a beloved child of God

Also you can download for FREE a track called “How to Use Affirmations Effectively,” when you join my consciousness community.

Affirmations are a tool to help you achieve your life’s purpose that can help you manifest your full potential in your life’s journey. I encourage you when choosing an affirmation to align your whole self, Soul, mind, and emotions. These are gifts that are available to you to help you live a happier and more fulfilled life as you learn to manifest the life you are meant to live and the life that you want to live.

When you choose to align consciously with and identify with your Soul you are affirming what is true. Bringing that truth into conscious awareness enables you to receive the many blessings of the Soul. The nature of the Soul is Love. The gifts of the Soul are joy. It is your Soul. It is there for you. The more you consciously align with and integrate with your Soul in your life, the more you can express and manifest the purpose of your life.

Namaste,

Release Your Fears

Release Your Fears

Read Release Your Fears by Genevieve Gerard, a Wisdom Wednesday Blog Post

Fear is probably the most limiting thing you can feel.

It stops you from doing what you truly want to do.

Learning to transcend your fears is one of the most powerful and liberating tasks that you may encounter on your spiritual journey.

Fear stops you from being who you know yourself to be truly. It limits you in many little ways that destroy the joyful spontaneity of life. That said releasing and freeing you from your fears is one of the most challenging charges you may ever undertake.

If you think back over the course of your life and consider the ways in which your fears may have prevented you from trying something new, going somewhere different, or seizing a new opportunity, they are probably vast. Of course, one of the most difficult issues you may struggle with is in determining whether something is just a fear vs. a warning of intuition. In order to actually make that discernment from a place of centered awareness, you must strive to conquer your overall shapeless fears to some extent, and so dealing with fear becomes a proverbial Catch 22.

So many little fears and worries can linger in your undetected and unaware mind chatter that they can rise to sabotage you. Because of this addressing your fears becomes a significant step in your spiritual work and evolution.

It is essential to realize that what you fear may be a real danger. Learning to release your fears and improve and empower your life can happen during certain circumstances in life that are generating your worries. War, Pandemics, environmental dangers such as fires, floods, earthquakes, and hurricanes, typhoons, and tornados are all examples of things we as human beings justifiably fear.

However, even when the cause of the fear is genuine, you are far more able to cope with the severe life changes these situations may engender if you learn to transmute, transform, and transcend your fears.

The mind is more effective and efficient if it is free from the paralysis that fear engenders. Your emotions are more effective and efficient when you don’t let the stress of a difficult situation be in control.

The spiritual life lesson of stress and even danger is to learn to let your Higher Self (your Soul) have more control. Allowing your Higher Self and your whole self to be released from the paralyzing influence of fear is both freeing and dynamically empowering. Using the opportunity of the current life crisis to learn how to release your fears can make your life much better.

I use as the entering invocation of every meditation the words. “Calm your mind, Open your heart, and Invite the Light.

I have found that every life circumstance, no matter how dangerous, is better when approached with a calm mind, and open heart, and openness to the wisdom and direction of your Higher Self.

To free yourself from letting fear limit your life, so that you can take advantage of the possibilities and potential that life serves up to you in the buffet of life experiences, you need to understand better the purpose of your life. When an event or opportunity presents itself, you can, by identifying and aligning with your higher source and affirming and understanding your Soul purpose, use that strength to face your fears. This is where many people throughout the ages have found using the powerful tools of meditation and affirmations can be very helpful.

I believe that every single event in life happens in an opportunity to choose love over fear.
      – Oprah Winfrey

Meditation can help you calm the chatter of your mind which too often generates fear, not from what is happening, but what might happen or could happen. The way that your fears bring you out of the NOW moment, into reliving past events and errors, is part of how they grab hold of your attention. Releasing the past with the firm realization and awareness that the past is truly over and is in the past, and there is nothing that you can do to change it, is helpful in releasing fear. Likewise realizing that the future is right NOW, both unformed and yet to be created is also very freeing.

Affirmations can also help you invoke your intention and engage your own will, which strengthens and empowers you. Ultimately, using positive affirmations can help you energetically create a future more aligned with your Higher Self and your higher life purpose.

Meditation can help you focus on what is real and calm both the mind and emotions. Meditation helps you center yourself in the powerful and potent potential of the NOW.

To be afraid and experience fear is a normal and natural response to the human experience. A great deal of fear is instinctual. Over the ages fear developed, in our evolution, as a way of keeping us safe from harm. Some fears are spontaneous responses to what is unfamiliar and unknown. A loud noise unexplained is an example of a fear response that resolves immediately upon an understanding of what caused the sound.

Freeing yourself from fear does not eliminate those natural and normal responses to a stimulus such as the automatic response to a loud noise. Freeing yourself from fear just means taking control of your life in ways that open you to explore the vast array of possibilities and opportunities that life offers you from a different perspective of your consciousness.

Learning to transcend fear does not mean that you never feel fear, but it does mean that you are the one in control in your life. This transforms the fear. This makes it more manageable and less of a presenting factor in your life.

To Free Yourself From Fear Is A Multistep Process

1) Use Discernment & Discrimination

Before you let your fears prevent you from doing something irrational use your better judgment and discrimination as the first step in freeing yourself of the limitations of fear.

2) Clarify What It Is That You Are Fearful Of

A key element in releasing your fears is to use your mind to explain what it is you are afraid of. In the clarity of understanding, what exactly you are fearful of, you can often see the absurdity of the fear itself. I am reminded of times in my coaching when upon hearing someone’s fears expressed I have fed back to them what they just said by asking them to clarify “Just what is so bad about feeling good?”

3) Face Your Fears

To transcend fear it is important to not only look at what it is that you fear in any situation or circumstance in life but to face your fears. As the saying goes “do what you fear most and you will conquer that fear.” When you do this, what is underlying the fear may surprise you and once revealed may dissolve in the light of your consciousness looking at and understanding the fear.

4) Learn From The Past

Often, the underlying genesis of the fear lies in events or circumstances of the past. Past failures, past rejections, or past events that may have seemed to justify and validate the fears may often be the most difficult to transcend. Honestly exploring the nature of a particular fear is crucial. If the fear is from your past life experiences, it is wise to evaluate and examine what caused those failures. What lessons can you learn from the past failure that can help you avoid mistakes as you move forward in your life?

This shift in your attention and intention to learn from your past errors while not letting the fact that you have made mistakes limit you from embracing the full power, potential and promise of the future is vital in manifesting your life’s purpose and your Soul purpose to fulfill your true destiny.

5) Put The Past Behind You

Once the lesson aspect of the past is clearly understood, it is equally important to put the past behind you and realize that what has happened in the past does not have to affect what is going on in the future which is still uncreated and unformed. You are a co-creator of your present and future.

6) Transcend Your Fears

It is important when you experience fear that you make a choice between living your life with fullness and abundance or letting fear keep your happiness and joy locked up so you can only take it out to look upon occasionally and wistfully. Transcending your fears and then moving forward to do and become what you know in your heart is what you are meant to do, to be or become is an important growth or spiritual evolutionary step.

To help you transcend your fears
here is a simple affirmation technique:

AN AFFIRMATION FOR TRANSCENDING FEAR

I align myself NOW with the wisdom of my Soul
that I may clearly see the
opportunities life is presenting to me.

I consciously choose to
embrace my life guided by how love is best served,
directed by my insight and intuition so that I may
manifest my higher purpose in my life today.
      – Genevieve Gerard

By affirming your choice, you take control of your life from the tyranny of fear and limitation opening your life and yourself to the freedom and the joy that are your birthright as a spark of Divine Light and a child of God.

For me I choose not to let fear control my life. That does not mean things are easy or always go right for me, but it does mean that I give the control of my life to my heart to be guided by love, my mind to be directed by discernment and my Soul to direct me to where I need to be when I need to be there to fulfill and manifest what is for me right and good.

Just remember that your unexamined fears and mind chatter may work against you. Meditation and contemplation allow you to be the director in your life instead of just the actor or re-actor when you consider your mind chatter with your higher consciousness and awareness.

Finally I will close with:

An Exercise to Help You Learn to
Transcend Your Fears

For just 3 minutes every day, sit quietly in reflective meditation. Take a deep breath while you calm your mind, open your heart and invite the Light. Open to the wisdom and guidance of your Soul.

Then, for that 3 minutes step outside yourself and be a detached observer of your chattering mind. Each time you catch your mind in a thought of fear, take a few seconds to identify the nature of the fear. If it is from a past mistake, consider where the mistake was and learn from it, then quickly forgive yourself for the error. Remember the past is finished. It is over and what is happening now is different.

If it is an intuition or warning, consciously decide not to do what you are being warned about. If it is a limiting thought or belief that could hold you back, reframe the thought (in a positive light) and look into the possibility and potential that life is offering you.

In this brief exercise you may find some mistakes in the past that you need to forgive, that’s ok. Don’t beat yourself up over them. Forgive yourself for them and let them go. They are in the past and only the present moment can be truly lived. Ponder on this.

In this way you can learn from your life lessons, release your fears and take back conscious control of your life, refusing to let fear control you.

Then go forward into the events and circumstances of your life that are happening at the moment, emboldened and empowered by this brief meditative experience to help you transcend your fears.

Embrace your personal power as you learn from these daily 3-minute experiences and if necessary, forgive your past mistakes. Relegate the past to the past; enter into what is real NOW. Free from the limitations of your fears you are now empowered to move forward into a future in which you can fulfill and express your reason for living.

When you are aligned with your Soul and have faced the fears that are generated in your chattering mind life presents you with unlimited possibilities to be and become all that you are meant to be and to manifest and do all that you are destined to do.

You have my blessing to release your fears!

Namaste,
