Humanity is evolving, as it always has.

Alongside the evolution of humankind’s physical nature is the more profound and revolutionary process: the evolution of human consciousness.

Consciousness is the cornerstone of creation because of the Universal Law that underlies how the material world and the Spiritual world work together.  That Universal Law is “Energy Follows Thought.”

Let There Be Light

When the Creator of the world first brought matter into existence with the words’ invocation, “Let there be Lightthe significance of this principle of creation was revealed

That the Creator chose to begin the process of creation with Light seems significant. Light is the essential element of both the physical and material world.  That the Creator began with Light appears to be an important part of the myth of creation foretelling something about the purpose of life in this world.

We know, from science, that darkness is the state of most of the universe.  Pictures from the far reaches of space show us that Light is rare and special within the vast scope of darkness that makes up the universe.  Yet, it is also noteworthy that wherever Light exists, it is always victorious over darkness.  It seems that in this observation, there are truths that are worth considering.

Light being more potent than darkness is true because the essence of Light, by its very nature, destroys and dispels the darkness.  A single candle chases away the darkness.  Even spiritual awareness is often called enlightenment, which speaks to the mystery of bringing the Light into the dark recesses of the human mind where despair may fester.

Conquering the darkness and bringing consciousness into greater and greater Light is woven into the human life adventure.  The life force of humanity is engaged in a Cosmic adventure of redeeming matter by bringing forth Light and Love.

Planetary scientist and stardust expert Dr Ashley King explained that, “It is totally 100% true: nearly all the elements in the human body were made in a star and many have come through several supernovas.

Consider again for a moment that the first words of creation, according to the legend of creation, were “Let there be Light.”  It makes sense then that during the enlightenment process in which humanity is engaging, through the many experiences of life, bringing Light into the darkness is the most profound.

That seems to be revealing about the purpose of life in which we, as humanity, are engaged.  That purpose seems to be integral to the expansion and evolution of consciousness that has gone on throughout untold eons of time and continues up to today.

It is significant as we consider the Presence and purpose of Light in life that we take a moment to consider that Light is the substance, the nature of universal spiritual bodies, and the essence of our Souls.  Therefore, expressing the Light in our lives and, most importantly, in our consciousness is the way we are able to fulfill the Creator’s first command of creation, “Let there be Light.”

Let the Light of your Soul shine forth.  Let the Light of Love be expressed.  Let Light infuse the collective consciousness of humankind.

Does Evolution Ever Stop?

Evolution does not stop once a species becomes a species. Every population of living organism is undergoing some sort of evolution, though the degree and speed of the process is sometimes pure speculation because it varies greatly from one group to another.

But if we look at the rate of our DNA’s evolution, we can see that human evolution hasn’t stoppedit may even be happening faster than before.

Evolution is a gradual change to the DNA of a species over many generations. It can occur by what Charles Darwin called natural selection, when certain traits created by genetic mutations help an organism survive or reproduce. Such mutations are thus more likely to be passed on to the next generation, so they increase in frequency in a human population.

Gradually, these mutations and their associated traits become more common among the whole group and we evolve as a human species.

Yet, despite these changes, natural selection only affects about 8 per cent of our genome. According to the neutral evolution theory, mutations in the rest of the genome may freely change frequency in populations by chance.

Though scientists can see these changes are happening – and how quickly – scientists still don’t fully understand why fast evolution happens to some genes but not others. Originally thought to be the result of natural selection exclusively, we now know this isn’t always true.

Realizing evolution doesn’t only happen by natural selection makes it clear the process isn’t likely to ever stop. Freeing our genomes from the pressures of natural selection only opens them up to other evolutionary processes – making it even harder to predict what future humans will be like.

Transformation Into A New Kind of Human Being

I believe that Light creates in the human spirit an act of transmutation and the ability for transformation as an evolutionary process.

As the dawn awakens to sleeping human beings, so the Light provides awakening to the Soul to bring about the enlightened awareness of who and what the potential of a human being is and, more importantly, what a human being is becoming in this newly evolving essence of human life.

The awakening to the Light, to the Light of the Soul, and the Divine Presence of Love in life, is integral to the creative process of a new kind of human beingA process of integration and transformation occurs within the human spirit to allow Love to transform the very material substance of the human body, which is composed of universal material substance that can be transformed and transmuted by Love in the human consciousness.

This transformation of matter into Love ultimately allows both redemption but also resurrection.  Love provides the power as the eternal spark of Divine Light that resides in the Soul of the human life to heal all hurts.  This produces Light as an integral part of Love’s purpose in life to create the potential in the consciousness of humanity to be beings of Love, beings of Light, and beings of vast power.

It is in this step of the evolution of consciousness that not only is a new kind of human being created, but the Divine purpose of creation of human life is fulfilled.  It is at this step forward in evolution that the plan from the mind of the Creator finally becomes fulfilled.

Much like the Creator’s mind (or God), that plan is both unknown and unknowableIs it in the revelations of the Light that emerge during the process of awakening and the expansions of enlightenment in the consciousness that we can receive and perceive a glimmer of the purpose of life and the Divine Desire for the evolution of human consciousness as a consciousness

The evolution of human consciousness as a consciousness happens at all levels of what makes up human life, a physical and material body, an astral emotional body, an enlightened mental body, and a Soul infused by Light.  It is in the miracle of intermingling and infusing these aspects of the self with Love that humanity ultimately becomes able to fulfill its ultimate destiny of companionship and full co-creatorship with the Creator.

That ultimate destiny transforms the potential for life all across the universe in the areas of space that are now vacant and dark.  This mission of transforming matter with Love and bringing Light into consciousness is a significant step forward in evolution, not only for humankind here on planet earth but for all of the worlds and universes that exist NOW and that are still to come.

Then confirm and affirm from your Soul:

I Am…

I am one with the universal presence;

I am one with the unlimited transforming Love of the Divine that manifests as Light, Love, and Power.

As I consciously and with invitation and intention. open my heart to Love, I welcome and rejoice that this is available to me from Source.

I calm my mind as I draw forth into the essence of my self, the power of the peace that passes understanding.

I invite the Light of enlightened awareness as I open my consciousness to see what is real and authentic.

I accept and extend my eternal Soul to the revelations that I receive today in the full faith and confidence that what is right for me, to see and know, will be revealed to me as I forgive myself for not knowing what I don’t know.

As I explore new revelations, I open to the Light of my Soul and offer up my personality and ego to be integrated and enlightened into greater awareness of truth, while releasing old glamours and illusions no matter how long in my journey through life I have clung to them.

I am evolving in my being in an ongoing process of wakening…

I am Transforming…

I am surrendering to being and becoming all that I am meant to be.

Light is an act of transmutation.

Divine Love is an act of transformation.

Irradiation is a process of stimulation of the atomic substance of Light and Love.

As an evolving and awakening human being I am bringing forth the power and potential of humanity as I learn to infuse matter with Light and Love.

This is the purpose for which I was created, and I claim it with joy.  NOW…

 

Go forth and produce Light as a part of Love’s purpose in life.

-The Dynamic Power of Defining Yourself

You are the most important person you will talk to today.

And, most of that talk is self-talk.

Ironically the most compelling aspect of your self-talk comes in the form of how you define yourself, both in your conversations with others, but most importantly to yourself, in your mind.

Your thoughts are powerful. They direct the creative influence of your mind. Please don’t waste them. Instead, I invite you to use them and to actively put them to work for your benefit on your behalf.

To empower your thoughts more efficiently, there are a few things essential to an understanding of the subtle energy of the world and how the process of creating and manifesting works.

In recent times, the ways that thoughts can influence matter has become known as “The Law of Attraction.”

Now, the Law of Attraction is not new, but it has, in recent times, gained great publicity. Still, despite being the subject of much explanation and discussion for many, it remains a concept that may seem magical and mysterious.

There are many levels and many layers to Universal Laws like the Law of Attraction and the active principle that “Energy Follows Thought” that may make it a challenge to use in a practical application in your life. Since this is a subject that has fascinated me for a long time, you will find several links to previous articles and blogs on the topic at the end of this post.

I invite you to consider and explore these posts that I mentioned above. Then I encourage you to take ideas from these posts, of the various techniques and tools that are available, to experiment with them in your life to enhance and empower your life. They may stimulate your thoughts to fly out to provide direction for the creation of your life experiences.

I believe your thoughts are the impetus for creating opportunities and also for creating challenges.

How You Define Yourself

However, where you can observe this manifestation of the principle that “energy follows thought” and the results of what you invoke with The Law of Attraction are most clearly revealed in how you define yourself.

The issue of self-definition is a vital place to focus your conscious attention to make sure that who you are becoming as a result of your thinking is who you want to become.

When we focus our attention on ourselves, we evaluate and compare our current behavior to our internal standards and values. We become self-conscious as objective evaluators of ourselves.

Bruce Lee also stated, “As you think, so shall you become.

Now, this is not new wisdom. It is a teaching as old as the Bible. It is expressed in the book of Proverbs with the phrase, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” Somehow lately it seems to be a new concept. Perhaps it is a truth that each new generation must discover it for themselves.

Perhaps it may appear to be just too simple to be true. While it may sound simple, as you begin to attempt to use this wisdom to transform and empower your life, even if it is simple does not mean it is easy.

The nature of the rambling thoughts of self-criticism and fear make it valuable to be aware of what you are creating with the power of your mind.

Your mind is such a mighty force that it has stored every definition of yourself you have ever set up in its “creative database.” That also includes ways in which other people have defined you. The seemingly simple statements, even when delivered playfully or as a part of teasing, go into the “database” of self-definition and may get replayed in your mind as a part of your identity.

This factor is why with children who are in the process of self-identification, it is crucial not to be demeaning when you correct them — even overheard descriptions of them (rather than just an annoying behavior) is damaging. Words have power!

In times of success or achievement, those definitions of self that are positive tend to be replaced, and likewise, in times of mistakes or failures, the negative descriptions get replayed as a part of the mind’s uncontrolled and undisciplined “chatter.” Built-up criticism and judgment may become damaging when replayed in the minds “chatter.”

Unfortunately, the computer of the mind follows the same rule as modern technology “garbage in garbage out.” Therefore, to have a positive impact on your life, you must become conscious of how you are defining yourself. Fortunately, you can use this same axiom to positively empower your life, “constructive in and confident out.”

Self-Talk

Consider your thoughts to be like a blueprint for what you are choosing to build into being in your life. By consciously planning what you desire, you enhance the ability to create who you are becoming with care and consideration. This potent force is especially significant when you are using a statement that defines who and what you are.

So, one way to use this information to improve and transform your life is to consciously consider the words you use to describe who you are. In so doing, you are welding the positive “I Am” power.

Before you define yourself by making an “I Am” statement, take a brief pause to consider whether what you are saying with your thoughts or your words is congruent with who and what you are striving to become.

If it is, you can reinforce your ability to be and become all that you are meant to be by adding the thought energy of intention and affirmation to that “I Am” statement. Defining yourself in this way helps empower you to manifest all of the success you dream of achieving.

This technique unlocks the power of affirmations. I Am statements have a significant influence in defining what you are becoming.

This self-affirmation has proven to be a useful offset to self-criticism. When we hear a voice saying we’re inferior or deficient, psychologist Leon Seltzer of Del Mar, California recommends that we try to see the evidence that refutes it in our mind’s eye. Affirmations can revise the negative messages we hear—or think we hear—from the voices of authority figures in our lives unable to show that they believed in us.

Use story editing to stop reverting to that negative cycle over and over again,” advises Timothy Wilson, a social psychologist at the University of Virginia and the author of Redirect: The Surprising New Science of Psychological Change. A story edit offers a way to reframe or revise a negative experience.

If what you are thinking is not who and what you want to be, stop the thought immediately and reframe and re-define who you are. Edit the idea and consciously create and confirm the definition of yourself that you desire.

Once you are sure, you have crafted the statement to reflect who you are striving to become, add to it your intention and your affirmation. If this is a newer and better definition of who you are, write it down as an affirmation and then work it into your conversations with others as many time as you can naturally over the next few hours and then the next few days until it becomes a part of your word patterns and your “story.”

If it is a change that is easy for you, this will be enough. However, if you think you need an extra added power or boost, then affirm the “I Am” statement while looking at yourself in a mirror, and anytime throughout your day that you catch a reflection of yourself.

Make sure each of your “I Am” statements are positive and reflect who you desire to be or become. The more of a challenge the reframed new definition of you is, the more that it will benefit from repetition and affirmation. In this way, practice helps the dynamic process of manifestation to fulfill the potential of the thought.

This technique can be tried in many aspects of your life. Approach it with an attitude of joyful playfulness and experimentation to see how many ways you can reframe and transform your life. This technique can have broad implications on self-mastery and self-confidence.

Letting Angels Teach Us the Meaning of Love

This article is part of our on-going series on Angels.

We are told in the stories of Creation that God created the Heavens and the Earth.

That may be a statement that has sometimes given you pause, or, it may be something that never crosses your mind; or something you have never considered.

The mystery of Angels is that they are beings of Spirit and Light while we, as humans, are beings of Spirit and Matter.

Tradition tells us that Angels are the messengers of God.  With the evolution of science in human consciousness, the role of Angels diminished.  Humanity has in the recent past become more limited by its collective insistence that only what is experienced through the five senses is real.

An amazing aspect of consciousness is that it is always totally subjective.  Without a concept in your mind, you cannot perceive.  This is a part of life’s mystery.  This is why determining what is real, and differentiating what is unreal is such a significant part of the spiritual journey.

There is a common folk saying that “seeing is believing.”  Yet, we cannot see the energy of radio waves but we now know they are there. Ultimately, I believe it is also true that “believing is seeing.” Ponder on this.

Understanding the laws of matter and relying on your five senses is one way you may see the world, but, it is not the only way.  Sensation and perception can open you to what is known as the sixth sense.  Just acknowledging the possibility that there is more to reality than what you might experience with your limited five senses can shift your awareness. The truth is “we don’t know what we don’t know.”

Here is a secret; opening your awareness is necessary if you want to communicate and learn from Angels.

Greater Awareness Is Coming

Communicating with Angels is something that has changed in these emerging times.  It is important to understand that consciousness is a part of livingness in every form in which life is expressed.  Consciousness is an ongoing process of both evolution and involution as an expression of life itself.

At this time in human evolution, consciousness is transforming to a greater awareness of reality.  A new consciousness is emerging that empowers the human experience to encompass more than just dense matterThe world of the Soul and the awareness of Spirit is in greater awareness.  The substance of your Soul is Spirit and LightConnecting with your Soul Light opens you to the presence and communion with the Angelic Kingdom.

The separation that has long existed between these two realms, Spirit and Matter, Human and Angelic have been thinning.  This phenomenon is sometimes referred to as “the thinning of the veil.” The tasks of the evolution of consciousness are becoming more permeable and interactive than in previous times.

This change seems to be a part of the creation of a “new heaven and a new earth” that is part of the prophecy of the emerging consciousness.  This foretold creation impacts the relationship between Angels and humanity that is compatible with the evolution in consciousness of both realms.

Messenger of God

In ancient stories of Angels appearing to humanity, the Angels were portrayed as messengers.  Angels, being more recognizable and compatible to human life arrived and were visible to communicate important messages.  The stories related often speak to the fear that humans had of Angelic Presence since the very first thing the Angels would say is “be not afraid.”

Fear is a common response of the human experience when presented with what is unfamiliar and unknown.

Special Angels, often Archangels, were chosen for these missions.  And, although these stories are rare and noteworthy, they are sufficiently common for humanity to understand that Angels are real and a part of the relationship between humanity and the Divine.

The role of a Guardian Angel is an example of how the angelic kingdom is aware of the challenges of the human experience.  A special relationship exists between an individual and their Guardian Angel.  That relationship is forged between your Soul and the Angel that takes on the charge of being your Guardian Angel in your life.

What is significant to understand and honor in these times of the thinning of the veil between heaven and earth is that both humanity and the Angels are constantly expanding their consciousness and awareness.  Angels and humanity, although on different pathways of evolving consciousness have a relationship.  This relationship is about different ways of experiencing the divine.

What We Can Learn From Angels

What is amazing is that these two very different manifestations of life and consciousness are learning similar lessons.  Learning these lessons in a body composed of matter is very different from learning these lessons as a being of Spirit and Light.

Humanity, as it evolves and ascends its consciousness to the ever greater awareness of Light, Love, and Spirit, have much they can learn from Angels.  Now, with the thinning of the veil between Heaven and Earth greater communication is possible.  The Angels remain messengers, as they have always been, but their ability to communicate, teach us and guide us is expanding.

Teaching Us The Meaning of Love

At this time, I believe mostly what they are teaching humanity is about Love.  Learning to Love, and ultimately infusing and transforming matter with Love in an epic transformation.  This lesson is integral to humanity evolving (beyond its animal nature) and is essential for planet earth to become a sacred planet.

Humanity is learning to Love, and Love infusing matter is the mystery of redemption that expands into Cosmic levels of purpose.

Angels are engaged in this Divine purpose to help and support humanity in accomplishing this transition.  The result of the separation of the world of matter from the Angelic realm thinning is an increased opportunity for communion and communication.  The presence of Angels is moving more and more into human awareness.  Perception is expanding beyond the five senses.

Meditation, prayer, and humanities reach for the Angels and the longing for the true meaning of love are revealing more and more.  The Angelic communication to human consciousness is mostly telepathic and is most often perceived as a whisper of the still quiet voice that is also the tool of your Soul (Higher Self) guiding you.

The Angels are committed to the fulfillment of what is aligned with Divine Will for you in your life.  Indeed, since Angels do not have free will like humans have, they can do no other.

What We Can Teach The Angels

As the Angels are emerging more and more to help humanity learn about Love, they are being exposed to what free will means.  I can only imagine that they are learning from humanity as they help humanity as part of their own angelic involutionary path back to mankind.

Certainly, the increased exposure to human emotion, particularly the pain of unfulfilled desire is a learning experience.  Human life, confined in matter and emotionally subject to the astral plane requires a major shift in consciousness.  In order for the Angels to support humanity in this great lesson of Love, they must become more aware of the trials and tribulations of the human life experience.

This is a great sacrifice the Angels are making.  When they reveal themselves to you in these emerging times I encourage you to be thankful for the sacrifice of service that they are offering to you.  Even to embody matter sufficiently for you to see them, hear them and sense them is different from their essence of Spirit and Light. Have compassion and gratitude and do not abuse their service to humanity.

As this process of revelation increases, the only way humanity can repay their sacrifice is by opening to the highest levels of Love and merging your Love with theirs. When they see life on earth being transformed by Love, and how their gift brings new awareness and consciousness to humanity their joy will expand.  Angels will demonstrate a new integrated way of being that is infused with Love and aligned with Divine Will. I encourage you to honor them with love as the blessing that they are to humanity and to your life and growth.

One thing that I am aware of as I pause to look at my life with an attitude of gratitude is that there is always something for which I am grateful.

It can be a very small or simple thing, for what is more important than that for which I am grateful. And it is what happens in my consciousness when I express my gratitude.

The amazing thing is that the very moment in which I identify something for which I am thankful my perspective changes, and I am invited to experience hope, love, and joy.

You might ask why do hope, love, and joy spring into my consciousness when I am thankful?  To understand that opens me to understanding one of the primary laws of the UniverseThe Law that energy follows thought.”

The Universal Law of Energy Follows Thought

That universal law is how you as a human being are an active force in co-creation with the Creator.  It is through this Universal Law that “energy follows thought” that you possess a power you can wield in the worldEach time you take the time to notice and appreciate what is good in the world and beautiful in your life, you participate in the work of creating more of what you enjoy in the world.

This concept that “energy follows thought” is the cornerstone of the Law of Abundance.  It is the mechanism through which you as a human being, endowed with the spark of Divine Light, are invited to be a co-creator with the Creator of Life.  In this statement is a profound truth that reveals deep magic. Ponder on this.

It is this understanding you can use to create the life of your dreams.  It is a power you can wield to fulfill your Soul’s purpose and manifest it in the world.

It is a powerful tool that requires clarity and consistency.  For that reason, it is often ignored or misunderstood.

What it is essential to understand the Law of Attraction is that it is a law.  It is always at work.  It does not discriminate between thoughts of what you want and thoughts of what you fear.  The energy is activated into creation by the thought.

If you wish to use the Law of Attraction to manifest what you dream and desire, you must learn to control your thoughts.  The endless chatter of your mind only creates confusion.

Whenever you send out a hodgepodge of fear, mixed in with half-formed ideas that switch to different half-formed ideas, the Universe does not know what to create for you.  It does not know what you want.

Only you can tell the Universe when you want to activate the Law of Attraction.  To do that you must learn to harness the power of your mind.

Un-disciplined mind chatter sends out confused requests to the Universe.  It is also usually so interwoven with your fears that it becomes like listening to the mindless chatter of a bunch of drunken monkeys as the Buddha described the contents of the mind, many years ago.

A Time For Gratitude

This day of Thanksgiving (in November in the US and October in Canada) is a time when you consistently and consciously focus on what you appreciate in order to activate terrific energy in your life.

Focusing on gratitude is a force to release Hope, Love, and Joy.

As I mention above, I associate focusing on gratitude as a force to release Hope, Love, and Joy.

To take advantage of this special time to empower your life and support you in manifesting your Soul Purpose and fulfill your dreams, I offer you a little no-cost simple exercise anyone can do.  I suggest you give this activity at least 10 or 15 minutes.

If you keep a journal, I suggest you get your journal and use it for this exercise.  If you don’t have a journal, just get out some paper and a pen to record your thoughts and feelings.

Gratitude & Blessings Exercise

This exercise is to ignite the Law of Abundance and demonstrate how the dynamic principle that “energy follows thought” helps you manifest in the world.

While you are doing it, it is imperative that you maintain awareness of what you are thinking.  If you observe a negative thought, fear, or a limiting belief slipping in, stop immediately and reframe, edit and bring your thoughts back into alignment with the attitude of gratitude.

It does not matter how much time you have set aside to do this gratitude exercise, you need to stop and reframe any negative thoughts. Do not let a fearful or negative thought remain unedited.  Each time you catch yourself sending out an idea that conflicts with what you want, STOP, Correct, and reframe that thought into what you desire.

I suggest you read these instructions once through and then come back and do the exercise.

Now let’s get started by relaxing and centering your energies.  Take a deep, relaxing and satisfying breath.

Then, for the next 10-15 minutes write as fast as you can as many of the things for which you are grateful…

They can be simple and small things or significant and grand things.  Just capture as many as you can on paper while making sure you do not let any thoughts that are fear based or limiting remain unedited or uncorrected.

Do this free of judgment or self-criticism.  If you catch yourself being negative or fearful, just let it go and focus on the corrections, editing, and reframing of the thought.  If you catch yourself being fearful, release that fear with a deep breath.

Let your energy re-center with the intentions of finding as many blessings as you can count to create your “What Am I Grateful For” Gratitude & Blessing List.

Return to writing and pondering the many things you appreciate about your life.

When your allocated time is finished, take the time to read over the listWhen you hit upon something or someone for which you are especially thankful, smile.  If it is someone, let a beam of love go from your heart to theirs and in your mind, bless them and thank them.

 

You might notice how happy and contented this little exercise has made you feel.  You might be aware of how much hope you feel.  Your heart may be full of Love along with the gratitude.

Then, I suggest that you take this list of written blessings and review it every morning for 30-days.

Observe the difference this makes in your life.

Remember Who You Truly Are

Perhaps, one of the most powerful and profound messages I have ever received in meditation was the instruction to, “Remember Who You Truly Are.”

This phrase not only impacted my spiritual life at the time I first received this instruction but has returned to my ponderings throughout the years.

Today, I share it with you, hoping that within your meditations and ponderings you will find insight, strength, and wisdom.

When you focus on this question I encourage you to have your spiritual journal with you.  Recording the ideas you receive helps you gain greater depth and understandings of flashes of awareness.

You might initially respond to this Koan by thinking it is silly.  You could dismiss it by giving simplistic answers.  A Koan is an exercise of finding a deeper truth.  I believe to benefit from the use of a Koan, you must look beyond the surface into the heart of the question.  In that way, the truth is revealed.

As you ponder the question, consider if you will, all of the roles and titles you have carried through your lifeMost have been descriptions of what you do, not who you are.

Once you move through the identities of what roles you have played in your life, what is left?

Are you larger than the jobs you have done or the roles you played in other’s lives?

At the center of your being, you have the answer;
you know who you are and you know what you want.
          – Lao Tzu

A Meditation To Explore Who You Truly Are

Take a deep breath as you calm your mind, open your heart and invite the Light.

Sit quietly and listen in the silence to the promptings of your Soul.  How does it answer the question, “Who Am I, Truly?”

Let your heart experience whatever comes to you.  Let your mind be free.  Suspend judgment.

Open to the wisdom of your Soul.  Invite it to reveal to you awareness you may have never perceived before.

There is no wrong answer.  Just open your heart and mind to the promptings of your Soul.

Listen, in the silence with your whole being as you ponder “Who am I, truly?”

Consider the thoughts, concepts, and feelings that drift into your being.  In the silence, you may find paths of consciousness that call to you.

Let them flow freely, opening understandings that are new to you.  You may wish to pause and record these impressions in your journal so you can return to them in another time, in another meditation.

You may experience an expanded sense of being.  Let your awareness grow to the edges of your consciousness.  Let your perception be limitless.

Taking a deep and relaxing breath, release with your exhale any stress you may be holding in your body.  That stress is not a part of who you truly are, so you can let it go.

Then draw in another deep and relaxing breath.  As you release your breath, you can release your fears.  They are not a part of who you truly are.

Now, as you breathe in another deep and relaxing breath realize you can, with your exhale, release any limiting beliefs and thought-forms you may be holding.  They too are not part of who you truly are.

Return to the silence, as you realize these burdens of stress, fears and limiting beliefs you have carried are not a part of your true self, your essential self.  They have not served you, and you have no need to ever gather them to you again.

Return to the question you are pondering; who am I truly if I am not my stresses, my fears or the beliefs that have limited me?

Allow the peace of this experience to permeate your essence.  As you breathe in, breathe in that peace and calm.  Be aware that you are breathing in peace and calm that comes from the very essence of yourself.

Let the energy in your heart expand into that peace.  Let the Love of your Soul fill your heart as you let yourself Love and appreciate who you are.

In the calm and the silence of this moment let yourself receive the grace of loving and accepting yourself.

In the pause of remembering who you truly are let the grace of self-forgiveness fill your heart and mind.

You are more than the total of the roles you have played and the deeds you have done.  You are more than your emotions and beliefs.  Within you, there is an essential Self.  Open your awareness to that Self.

In the silence, in the calm afterglow of this meditation receive the Love that your Soul has for you.  Receive the grace that is your birthright as a spark of the Divine Light that inhabits us all.

Record your thoughts, feelings, and impressions in your journal at this time.  Remember that writing about what you have experienced helps you ground and solidify that experience.

Be Open To Your Soul

Take a moment, as you calm your mind, open your heart and invite the light of your Soul, to ponder on what you have received in response to the question who am I truly.

Expand your awareness to receive the flow of unlimited love and compassion that is the nature of your Soul.

As, that Love fills your heart and illumines your mind, realize and celebrate that your Soul is an integral essence of who you are.

Yes, you have a human and material body, but you are much more than your body.

Certainly, you have emotions, but they are only experiences along the adventure of life.  They are not who you truly are.

Amazingly, you have a mind, capable of great thoughts and expansions of consciousnessWithin that mind is the power of imagining and perceiving that which is beyond what is material into an essence which is Spirit.

As a Soul, you are a co-creator with the Divine of the nature and purpose of your life.  Yet, for your Soul to work in the world and influence matter, it needs the actions of your physical body. 

 

It requires the understanding and cooperation of others that comes from the practice of compassion and the demonstration of Love that only you as a dual nature of Spirit/Soul and Matter/Body, can offer to the world.

Your personality and ego are part of a team that brings the Spirit into manifestation in the physical universe.  This merger of your Soul with the material is focused on bringing Love into the world of matter.

Love is the essential nature of the Soul and the nature of the Divine.  YOU, as a human being are the incredible miracle of life created to bridge those worlds, to reveal that truth, to learn and teach the nature of Love.

For this great task was humanity created.  For this great service to the whole universe are you here on Planet Earth, learning, growing and striving to transform matter with Love.

This integration of your Soul (whose nature is Love united with Divine Purpose and Will) with your physical body, emotions mind and personality is a divine purpose in life that has a purpose beyond what you can know and see.

Being, and becoming who you truly are, and remembering and revealing your Divine nature while in human form is the pathway that all of humanity must travel to fulfill the Divine Plan and destiny for humanity.

You are an adventurer.  You are a trailblazer. You are a child of God and a spark of Spirit merging divine source into matter as you learn to express and share Love.

In all of creation, the human being is a unique and special being.  Be who you are.  Celebrate this miracle of life you have been granted.  Accept the love and guidance of your Soul as you master your physical, emotional and mental nature and integrate your personality with your Soul.

As your consciousness returns to the activities and requirements of your life, realize that this meditation of remembering can empower you.

You can return to this meditation and this pondering as often as you like.  Each experience can deepen and reveal ever more of the mystery of remembering who you truly are.

You Can Conquer Your Fears

Many of us, in fact, I dare say most of us are limited by our unexamined thought forms that keep us locked in fear.

When you read the above statement, you might identify with it; and realize to release your fears, especially changing your life so that you can transcend your fears, may be a challenging task.

Each of us faces our life’s journey from different perspectives and with different understandings.  Your patterns of behavior may be stuck in habits that stand in the way of living the life you desire.

I believe that through meditation, therapy and life coaching you can gain wisdom and insights that are different and more enlightened.

This spiritual journey requires integrating the Soul or Higher Self with the impulses and urges of your personality.  In times of great clarity and insight, the answers may be clear to you, yet you may find yourself stuck in patterns of both thought and behavior that conflict with the wisdom of your Soul.

Habits, in both your behavior and your choices, may seem automatic.  You may observe this when you examine your thoughts, or a more accurate word might be “thought forms.”  Insight, awareness, and understanding of underlying principles of the importance of what you think are much easier than controlling the often-toxic content of your thoughts.  Especially if the content of your thoughts is lace with your fears, it can be hard to control fear based mind chatter.” 

An essential stage in your spiritual evolution, and indeed one of the most challenging and arduous, is freeing you from the limitations of your fears.

Fears unchecked limit your potential for success.  Fears often form the base for “limiting beliefs” and even distort how you interpret new possibilities.

Sadly, much of what is most destructive about fear is that the fear voice in your head is frequently based on illusion.  It is what you imagine (indeed, fear) might happen or could happen; not what is real or true.

Your fears create a whole structure of fantasy that relies on worry and imagination that can keep you trapped within your thoughts in a way that discourages and inhibits creative solutions to your life challenges.

To live the life of your dreams it is important to learn to conquer your fears.  Some fears are natural and archetypally ingrained in the human experience.  As I mentioned other fears are not real.  Luckily, these unreal fears are a part of your psychological makeup and are well within your power to change.

Learning to differentiate something that is worthy of fear from what is mind chatter illusion is one of the first steps in conquering your fears.  If something is truly dangerous, you can still face it and overcome your fears.  If it is an illusion or part of the story you are just telling yourself, conquering your fear becomes far more important.

A hero is no braver than an ordinary man,
but he is brave five minutes longer.
         – Ralph Waldo Emerson

The danger of these illusionary fears is the way they can limit and control your life.  The fear can become the problem even when there is no limitation there.  Therefore, one of the next steps is learning to transmute, transform, and ultimately transcend your fears so you can live the life of your dreams.

Fortunately, since being limited by illusionary fears limits you from achieving your Soul purpose, you can use the power of your Soul (Higher Self) to help you learn to transmute, transcend and transform your fears.

Releasing the emotions created by fear is such a significant step in one’s spiritual evolution, that it has long been incorporated into Spiritual teachings.

One of my favorite techniques I found helpful in learning to stop letting fear limit my life, is available as a guided meditation.  This method is taken from the Ageless Wisdom and has been adapted and converted by me for the Western culture and mind. It is called I Am Feeling Free.”

When I was on my Spiritual path focusing on the issue of fear, I would do this breathing meditation over 1,000 times a day.  Since, once you learn it, you can do it without anyone knowing you are doing it simply by directing your intention with your breath, I find it to be one of the most empowering meditations I have ever recorded.  It is something I frequently use in my life still to this day.

That you can use the power of your Soul to resolve such a significant part of your personality’s challenges is an example of living with the integration of “Soul personality duality” that is the next step in humanities evolution. Ponder on the meaning of this.

Your life purpose, your dreams, and your goals can best be fulfilled by you facing your fears and then learning to transmute, transform and ultimately transcend them.  Your thoughts and your beliefs are all subject to the Universal Principle that “Energy Follows Thought.”

Meditation is the portal to aligning with your Soul.  When you receive the guidance and direction of your Soul, then you, as a personality have a choice whether to live your life in harmony with that Soul direction.

Releasing your fears and learning to free your mind from your limiting beliefs is an essential step in freeing your life from the overly emotional aspects of your personality.

Parts of that action involve coming into and functioning within the present moment of time.  So, it is important to:

  1. Let your past be in your past, and move it out of your present.
  2. Forgive the wrongs of others and forgive yourself for your mistakes and errors.
  3. Open your mind to explore new possibilities and new opportunities, as you free yourself from your fears and limiting beliefs.
  4. Keep a journal near you to record any new ideas and inspirations you receive in meditation. They are more important that you might realize at first.

An empowering mantra for you to use in your meditation is:
“May the Divine Self inspire me and the Light of the Soul direct, that I may be led from the darkness into Light, the unreal to the real, from death to immortality.”

Free your life from the tyranny of your fears.

A New Year is always a wonderful time for a new resolution, a new beginning or a new insight.

Lunar New Year is the beginning of a calendar year whose months are cycles of the moon. The relevant calendar may be purely a lunar calendar or a lunisolar calendar.

Chinese New Year is the largest celebration of the lunar new year.

You might already know this but one out of every 5 people in the world is Chinese and the Lunar New Year is celebrated by more than 20% of the world in countries like Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Australia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong, North and South Korea, Vietnam, Southeast Asia, and Mauritius, but also Europe, Australia, New Zeeland, America, and Canada.

What is the animal for Chinese New Year 2020?

Western horoscopes include 12 zodiacs, one for each month. However, there are 12 Chinese zodiacs as well, but the animal is for the entire year.

Happy New Year 2020 Year of the Rat

 

For the year 2020, the main zodiac element is metal, and the animal sign is Rat, and hence, 2020 will be the Year of the Metal Rat according to the Chinese zodiac.

 

People born in the year of the Rat include the years 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008, and 2020. The years above are a rough guide; bear in mind that if you were born in January or February it may be slightly different as the new year moves between January 21 and February 20.

 

The Rat is the first of all Chinese zodiac animals. According to one myth, the Jade Emperor said the order would be decided by the order in which they arrived at his party. The rat tricked the ox into giving him a ride. Then, just as they arrived at the finish line, the rat jumped down and landed ahead of the ox, becoming first.

Rats symbolize wealth, intelligence, success and wisdom to the Chinese. In terms of the Yin and Yang theory, they are the yang and signify the beginning of a new day. They also represent the midnight hours and the Earthly Branch Zi.

In fact, Chinese astrology specialists suggest that 2020, the Year of the Metal Rat, is a good time to give birth as metal symbolizes stability and longevity. Those born in the Year of the Metal Rat tend to live a stable life and have the ability to turn unlucky events into fortune.

The Personality of the Rat

People born in the Year of the Rat are characterized as smart, resourceful and quick-witted. They have great imaginations and make sharp observations, with the ability to take advantage of several opportunities.

Strengths: Rats are clever, quick thinkers with a deep curiosity; intelligent, optimistic, successful, but content with living a quiet and peaceful life. The rat is adaptable and resourceful, has good intuition, and a strong imagination. They are kind and sensitive to other people’s emotions.

Weaknesses: Stubborn, timid, greedy, and don’t have much courage. They’re generally kind, but their weak communication skills can sometimes come across as rude or impolite, so they don’t make great leaders. In Chinese culture, rats are a sign of wealth and surplus. Because of their reproduction rate, married couples also prayed to them for children.

Lucky numbers for people born in the Year of the Rat are two, three, six, eight (avoid: 4, 5, 9) and their lucky colors are blue, green and gold (avoid: yellow, brown.) Their lucky flowers are lilies and African violets and their lucky directions are west, northwest, and southwest. Their closest western zodiac is Sagittarius.

How Long is the Chinese New Year?

The Little Year 2020

Preparations for the New Year (called the Little Year) last 8 days, beginning on January 17th, 2020 and go until Chinese New Year’s Eve.

Spring Festival 2020

As part of the celebrations, Chinese New Year officially begins on Saturday, January 25, 2020, this year with the Spring Festival which lasts 11 days through February 4th. People welcome spring and what it brings along: planting and harvests, new beginnings and fresh starts.

Lunar New Year

It is also called Lunar New Year because the Chinese New Year is based on a lunar year instead of a fixed number of days. Each month the moon comes back as a new moon on a different date. On average about 29.53 days. So, some months will be 29 days and others will be 30 days long. 12 lunar months will take 354.36 days, short of the 365 days in a solar year.

To fix this the Chinese calendar adds an extra month every third year. In the Chinese calendar, the beginning of the month is marked by the dark moon. The new year starts on a new moon. And because the Spring Festival goes according to the lunar calendar there is no set date every year for Chinese New Year.

The Lantern Festival 2020

After Chinese New Year at the first full moon of the (lunar) year is the famous Lantern Festival which preparations begin on the 5th and is held on February 8th this year. In ancient times, girls weren’t allowed to venture outside by themselves. But on this night, they were able to walk around, moon-gaze and look at the beautiful lanterns. Because of this, it’s also known as Valentine’s Day in China.

Overall the Chinese year will last from January 25, 2020, to February 11, 2021.

The lunar calendar is still important in China, even though it has officially moved to the Gregorian calendar like the rest of the world. All traditional holidays and days such as the Winter Solstice are celebrated.

What to Wear During Chinese New Year?

There is a Chinese tradition of wearing new clothes that goes all the way back to the Northern and Southern dynasties (420-589 AD). In the Song Dynasty (960-1279 AD), everyone would show off their new clothing as they visited friends on New Year’s Day. In the Republican period (1912-1949), beautiful new clothes were needed as the youth paid their respects to the elders. It’s a part of Spring Festival celebrations, just like the New Year’s Eve reunion dinner.

The Spring Festival is a time of change and new beginnings. Practically every activity during the Spring Festival has the purpose of removing the old and welcoming the new. Forget about the misfortunes and be ready for good luck. In addition, new clothes are auspicious and can protect you from evil spirits.

When buying clothes for Chinese New Year, go for red. This is the best color for the occasion. Stay away from black and white, as they are unlucky and negative during this time.

A Day for Praying to Gods

The Spring Festival was originally a ceremonial day to pray to gods for a good planting and harvest season. As an agrarian society, the harvest was everything. People also prayed to their ancestors, as they were treated as gods.

The Most Fireworks Are Set Off in the World on Chinese New Year’s Eve

According to the Chinese myth about Nian, firecrackers are supposed to scare off monsters and bad luck. So, people stay up on Chinese New Year’s Eve and set off firecrackers at midnight. In the morning, firecrackers are used again to welcome the new year and good luck.

Firecrackers aren’t the only thing that scared the monster away. Red is also an invaluable weapon and used in nearly all Chinese New Year decorations.

Things Not to Do During Chinese New Year Celebrations

The 11 days of the Spring Festival (January 25th through February 4, 2020) is a time of celebration. It’s to welcome the new year with a smile and let the fortune and happiness continue. At the same time, the Spring Festival involves somber ceremonies to wish for a good harvest.

Here are the top 10 taboos during the Chinese New Year to be aware of according to chinesenewyear.net. According to Chinese superstition, doing any of these on January 25th – the day Chinese New Year falls in 2020 – will lead to bad luck for the entire coming year. Follow these and fortune will smile on you.

  1. Do not say negative words
    All words with negative connotations are forbidden! These include death, sick, empty, pain, ghost, poor, break, kill and more. You wouldn’t want to jinx yourself or bring those misfortunes onto you and your loved ones.
  2.  

  3. Do not break ceramics or glass
    Breaking things will break your connection to prosperity and fortune. If a plate or bowl is dropped, immediately wrap it with red paper while murmuring auspicious phrases. After the New Year, throw the wrapped up shards into a lake or river.
  4.  

  5. Do not clean or sweep
    Before the Spring Festival (January 25th), there is a day of cleaning. That is to sweep away the bad luck. But during the actual celebration, it becomes a taboo. Cleaning or throwing out garbage may sweep away good luck instead.

    If you must, make sure to start at the outer edge of a room and sweep inwards. Bag up any garbage and throw it away after the 5th day. Similarly, you shouldn’t take a shower on Chinese New Year’s Day.

  7. Do not use scissors, knives or other sharp objects
    Sharp objects, in general, will cut your stream of wealth and success. This is why 99% of Chinese hair salons are closed during the holidays. Haircutting is taboo and forbidden until Lunar February 2, when all festivities are over.

  9. Do not visit the wife’s family
    Traditionally, multiple generations live together. The bride moves into the groom’s home after marriage. And, of course, she will celebrate Chinese New Year with her in-laws. Returning to her parents on New Year’s Day means that there are marriage problems and may also bring bad luck to the entire family. The couple should visit the wife’s family on the 2nd day. They’d bring their children, as well as a modest gift (because it’s the thought that counts).

  11. Do not demand debt repayment
    This custom is a show of understanding. It allows everyone a chance to celebrate without worry. If you knock on someone’s door, demanding repayment, you’ll bring bad luck to both parties. However, it’s fair game after the 5th day. Borrowing money during the Spring Festival is also taboo. You could end up having to borrow the entire year. It is better to pay off all of your debts before the new lunar year.

  13. Avoid fighting and crying
    Unless there is a special circumstance, try not to cry. But if a child cries, do not reprimand them. All issues should be solved peacefully. In the past, neighbors would come over to play peacemaker for any arguments that occurred. This is all to ensure a smooth path in the new year.

  15. Avoid taking medicine
    Try not to take medicine during the Spring Festival to avoid being sick the entire year. Of course, if you are chronically ill or contract a sudden serious disease, immediate health should still come first.

     

    Some related taboos: Don’t visit the doctor; Don’t perform/undergo surgery; Don’t get shots.

  17. Do not give New Year blessings to someone still in bed
    You are supposed to give New Year blessings. But let the recipient get up from bed first. Otherwise, they’ll be bed-ridden for the entire year. You also shouldn’t tell someone to wake up. You don’t want them to be rushed around and bossed around for the year. Take advantage of this and sleep in!

  19. Chinese gift-giving taboos
    It was mentioned above that you should bring gifts when paying visits. It’s the thought that counts, but some gifts are forbidden. Clocks are the worst gifts. Gifting clocks is a homophone of paying one’s last respects. Splitting pears is also a homophone of separation.

For the Spring Festival, these rules may seem excessive. Especially when you add in the cultural norms, customs, and manners. But like a parent would say, they are all for your own good. Formed over thousands of years, these taboos embody the beliefs, wishes, and worries of the Chinese people.

Who should be on their guard this year?

According to Chinese astrology, the year of your birth sign is believed to be one of the most unlucky years of your life. It is thought that people in their zodiac year offend Tai Sui, the God of Age, and incur his curse.

Famous names who should be wary this year include Jeremy Clarkson (1960) and Idris Elba (1972), Al Gore and Richard Simmons (1948), as well as the Duke of Sussex, Katy Perry, and Scarlett Johansson (all born in 1984).

Lewis Capaldi (1996) was also born in the Year of the Rat, plus Gary Lineker and Jonathan Ross (both born in 1960).

Also born in the year of the rat were William Shakespeare, T. S. Elliot, and George Washington.

Transcending, transmuting and releasing fear is one of the most powerful and life-transforming steps you can take on your spiritual journey.

In the Ageless Wisdom, releasing fear is a step associated with the second initiation.  As such, there is a myriad of life lessons that accompany learning mastery over your fear.

To overcome your fears is a challenge for everyone. 

Fear: False Evidence Appearing Real
       – Unknown

Ultimately learning to transmute and transcend your fears cannot be done by your personality and your personal will alone.  For that reason to transform your fears becomes spiritual work

Fear is so very deep, archetypal and integral to the human experience that freeing yourself of fear is such a significant step in your spiritual evolution because to accomplish this you must call upon the strength, the power and the wisdom of your Soul.

Find a place inside where there’s joy,
and the joy will burn out the pain.
        – Joseph Campbell

As you transform your life by transcending your fears, everything changes.  Each victory you make and each step that you take is profound and significant.

It is best to harness the power of your mind and practice the powerful principle that “energy follows thought” by using a technique that I call the detached observer.

To use the detached observer technique, I recommend that you pay attention to the random thoughts of your mind.  Realize that these thoughts are what you are sending out on an almost constant stream as positive or negative instructions to activate the “Law of Attraction” in your role of co-creator of your life.

As you use the “detached observer technique” I have over the years recommended that you catch yourself engaging in “stinking thinking” as Zig Ziegler use to call it.  Once you have noted a fearful thought, just stop and restate it into a positive thought.  All it takes is to use the wisdom and insight of your Higher Self to reframe the thought and revise it, thus activating your personal will to manifest the life you desire. Ponder on this technique!

Reviewing, reframing and restating your thought is a very powerful technique that can empower you to transform your life.

If you have ever used this method, or if you choose to use it right now, I am sure that you will find buried in your previously unconscious “mind chatter” a myriad of fears you can address.

As you explore your preconscious thoughts, you may find that fears are often a component of your content. 

Fear is often embedded in your thoughts of worry, which I call “praying for what you don’t want.” 

Take just one minute right now to center quietly in yourself and listen from the role of the detached observer to the content of your mind chatter with the critical awareness of how much your fears are reflected in your thoughts.

Amazing isn’t it?  Fear can be a large part of your life.

The transmuting and releasing of your fears is such a significant part of your spiritual journey that of all my published guided meditations I have devoted not just one, but multiple meditations to that goal, (I Am Feeling Free and Feeling Free.)

 

What is clear to me is that because fear is so deeply rooted in the human experience it is only by empowering the personality with the power of your Higher Self (your Soul) are you able to release your fears.

The personality can be engaged by seeking more enlightened awareness as you call upon the wisdom, the will and the power of your Soul (Higher Self or Higher Power) to transcend your fears.  By so doing, you are demonstrating a powerful spiritual lesson.  You are created as a spiritual being (a Soul) to work in harmony, and unity with a material being that directs, body, mind, and emotions with your personality.

In this statement above, there is both great truth but also a secret for managing your life.  Ponder of this.

To use this higher power and this majesty to be and become all that you are meant to be and live a life of joyful abundance is the reward of enlightened awareness.  It is the inherent secret ingredient in all of the ways to live in joy.

Joy spontaneously arises when you call upon your Soul and activate it as an integral part of the choices you make in your life.

That joy is the antidote to fear came to me recently while coaching someone in the release of his or her fears.  It is such a significant thought and principle that I have meditated upon it for several days now.

As I pondered upon opening my heart and my mind to the touch of my Soul and experienced the rush of joy that accompanied it, I realized simultaneously that in doing so, there was no space for fear.

Miraculously, fear and joy are antithetical to one another. That led me to consider how I can use joy to conquer fear.

Lately, in my meditations, I have been experiencing the blessing, joy, and grace of an angelic presence that I call The Angel of Perpetual Joy She is an angelic being who has had a profound benefit in my daily life.  In fact, it was the transformations her presence has created in my life that stimulated the writing of my recent article, “When Angels Come to Earth.”  As I stated in that article, Angels often choose to come to earth for the purpose of helping humanity.

In my meditations, I gained the insight that joy dispels fear.  It is important that you understand that Angels have a role of assistance and support.  The Angel of Perpetual Joy then went on to reveal in telepathic communion that Angels communicate through their union with your Soul to provide your personality a special blessing that I was charged to offer to you.

She, as an Angelic Presence will respond to your invocation by her presence to help you transcend and overcome your fears.  Therefore, with both her direction and blessing I encourage you to call upon her presence in your prayers and meditations to let joy serve as the antidote to your fears.

I invite you to invoke her presence in your life; I published in my previous article, “When Angeles Come to Earth” a meditation you can use and customize that is called,A Meditation on Angelic Presence.”

You can use this meditation to request her blessing of joy and her presence to transmute, transform and abolish your life of fears.

As you meditate upon her presence, I invite you to invoke and call upon the power and the presence of your Soul.

I believe connecting with your Soul is always accompanied by a rush of Love and Joy.  However, in my experience after calling upon “The Angel of Perpetual Joy” and meditating with her, the presence of my Soul was also magnified and expanded.  Such is the gift of angelic dedication to a particular purpose in life.

Because transcending and transmuting fear can be such an important part of your spiritual journey, I encourage you to use both the reframing technique of the detached observer and take advantage of the blessings of angelic presence regularly in your meditations.

No matter how positive we try to keep our thoughts, at times, we become discouraged.

The very word discouraged gives us a clue, both in where the problem exists and in what we need to do to resolve it.

To become discouraged is to face a situation without the courage and fortitude that you usually maintain.

Here are some simple tips to conquer your discouraging thoughts and feelings during these times of concern:

Tip 1:

To transcend this feeling, it is first important that we recognize that it is a feeling.  Whereas thoughts have the power to create and transform our world, feelings are only fleeting expressions.

Tip 2:

It is important to let your feelings wash over you and then be released, without confusing them with thoughts or empowering them by believing they are a reality.

A feeling has validity only in the brief moment of time in which it is experienced and is not truth.  It is only a feeling.  To become discouraged implies that you have allowed your feelings to rob you of the courage and the enthusiasm that fuels your life adventure.

The simple understanding of the nature of our feelings and the ability to differentiate them from our more powerful force, thought, is an important step in helping us use the creative power of our thoughts positively.

Our human nature is to jumble our thoughts and feelings together, mixing them up and then all too often, granting a feeling more gravitas than it deserves.

Tip 3:

To define the difference between feeling and thought is an important step in limiting the influence and scope of a negative experience, without denying or ignoring it.

By accepting and acknowledging a feeling, even and especially a negative feeling, and then limiting it to its true scope, we are empowering our life. This allows the positive aspects of the principle of “energy follows thought” to be harnessed for the power and control of our intention.

If we experience the emotion (in this example dis-couraged) and then acknowledge that it is a feeling, we can let it flow over us without harm.  Experiencing the feeling and then releasing the feeling, prevents you from being trapped in your feelings.

Tip 4:

Emotion, by its very nature, comes and dissipates very quickly, much like diving into a deep pool of water.  Like a dive, you enter deeply into the emotional waters for a brief minute and like a dive, it is important to rise out of the waters so you can take a new breath and bathe in the sunlight.

It is when you take this fleeting experience of emotion and empower it with your thoughts, and all too often your fears, that you feed your fears.  Living in fear of the future or past brings you out of the present moment and creates the problems of negativity in your life.

When a feeling is kept within the confines of the present, you can experience it without it causing harm.

If immediately upon recognizing a negative feeling you identify it as a feeling, not repressing it, but releasing it immediately as feelings are by their nature designed to do, you begin your mastery of life.  If you then put the feeling into a reality or truth test, you are well on your way to conquering your fears.

Tip 5:

If you ask yourself the questions, “Is this the truth?”, “Is this real?”, “Is this what I think or only what I feel?”, you are well on your way to releasing any negativity or damage that having the emotion can do.

Do not give in too much to feelings. A overly sensitive heart is an unhappy possession on this shaky earth.

This little exercise to determine the difference between what is real and what is unreal can be done in just a few seconds.  This reality check  then frees you from the tyranny of believing that what you are feeling is reality, while still honoring and respecting the validity of a feeling, as only a feeling.

To distinguish between thoughts and feelings and to then master the thought so the negativity is not empowered to sabotage your life is a powerful tool.  Learning to harness your command of your feelings puts you in the co-creator role in the universe, under the principle that “energy follows thought.”

Practicing these tips and techniques and understanding these principles, are an important step in life mastery.  Use them well.  Practice them often.

Tip 6:

You can transform, transmute and transcend any and all negative emotions.  To do this, it is important that you acknowledge the feeling while you also acknowledge your mastery over it by letting it have its moment, but not giving it the additional power of thought and especially fear.

It is a technique that once learned can be practiced anytime and anywhere to gain mastery over your most troublesome and limiting emotions.

It is a technique that earlier in my journey I used many times in a day.  It is a technique that I use frequently in my life now.  To use awareness to move, transcend, transmute and transform the strong emotions of fear and anger, gives you freedom in your life.

How Smiling Enhances Happiness

A smile is a powerful thing.

Have you ever noticed that when you smile at someone, they almost always smile back at you even if you are complete strangers. Even if they were not smiling before, once you looked into their eyes and smiled, they smiled back.

A smile is a universal way of connecting with one another.

Years ago, I lived in New York City, and the hustle and bustle of city life were at times lonely and alienating. There were times when that bothered me, so I began a little game with myself that was both an experiment in the nature of energy and the power of a smile.

Now, this was just a young woman learning about life, so this was in no way a scientific experiment. Luckily science has since proven some of the things that I discovered in this game.

The Smile Game

When walking down the City sidewalks I noticed that many people did not smile as they hurried by me. The challenge in my little game was to see if I could get them to smile.

As they walked by I would make eye contact, something I noticed people in the City seemed to avoid, and smile.

Amazingly I noticed that most of them would smile back. At times, I even saw confusion in their eyes as they did so, but they would almost always return my smile. It was a spontaneous response.

I like to think even that brief sense of connection served in a small way to lighten their life and dispel the sense of separation and isolation that can trap people in their loneliness.

Smile Research Studies

Years later I heard about a research study conducted at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) that discovered that a smile biochemically released endorphins into the body. In fact, the endorphins released were the same endorphins that are released when people are falling in love.

The study went on to say that the mere act of smiling worked to release those endorphins. It did not matter if the smile had a reason or not. The smile worked as a part of the amazing autonomic nervous system’s stimulus-response mechanism. The smile produced the reason to smile. The smile helped to make the person happy.

Now I understand, based on the research, that my little smile game on the City sidewalks long ago made me feel happier because it released endorphins and dispelled my sense of loneliness and isolation that could sometimes darken my emotions.

Since then, UCLA social scientists have done a great deal more research about this amazing relationship of body language and the autonomic nervous system. They have found that smiling or assuming a posture associated with success, happiness or victory, are the results in the feelings associated with the body language that is being created all around you.

Below, in the related links, I will give you a TED talk I recently heard that spoke of the many ways that you can use this information to have a positive impact on your life. As I often write, “energy follows thought,” but I find it amazing that action also has a dynamic influence on what you experience.

Back when I was a child, there was a song about whistling a happy tune that makes this point. I also think that the immense popularity of the emoticons on smartphones demonstrates this point too.

There is an old folk wisdom saying, “smile and the world smiles with you” that also makes this point.

I invite and encourage you to play with this concept and to create your own experiment. As you walk through your daily life, whenever you see someone, a friend or a stranger, look into their eyes and smile. As you do this, observe. Did they smile back at you? How did that make you feel? Did you notice a change in how you felt just by smiling? Did you observe a little jolt of joy in your heart when they returned your smile?

At the end of this post, there is a place you can comment on your experiment. Also, on my website I have a section called transformation stories where you can share your experience in more detail. I invite you to post there what happened in your life with this test.

You can raise it all up a notch by imagining love flowing from you to them with your smile. A smile is such a simple thing to give and can have such a powerful impact. Or as you make eye contact you can simply greet them with a silent Namaste.

Real Life Example

I remember a little incident that happened after 9-11.

I was in a bank and saw a woman with a headscarf in line. I looked at her and smiled at her thinking nothing of it. As I was leaving the bank she rushed up to me and thanked me profusely. She said that since 9-11 she had felt such anger from people, and that everyone averted their eyes from her.

My simple smile reassured her and gave her hope. We ended up sharing a brief moment of healing at a terrible time in history, all because of that simple smile. It didn’t matter that I didn’t know her and never saw her again. At that moment, there was a connection.

I invite you to use your smile as an instrument for good in the world and enter into joyful playfulness that will enhance your happiness.

Journaling is a wonderful tool you can use to help yourself in the process of transformation and growth.

A journal is a way you can share your thoughts and your deepest feelings, knowing there is no judgment.

It can help you understand yourself better and open your awareness to thoughts and feelings that seem to gain clarity when put into words. This is true when you share with a friend, but becomes even truer when you symbolically serve in the role of befriending yourself by keeping a journal.

One of the main reasons why to keep a journal is because your journal can become a way of clarifying what you are experiencing. It becomes a meditative experience, which helps you gain insight and get in touch with the perspective and wisdom of your Higher Self. In this way, writing in your journal becomes a tool for deeper insight and understanding. It becomes a way that you can heal your life.

Over the years that I have kept a journal there were countless times when a problem or issue that was troubling me resolved when I sat down to write because my thoughts and my feelings were clarified and resolved by the process of writing. This happened so frequently and profoundly that I now associate journal writing as a way of transitioning from the perspective of my personality to the wisdom and insight of my Soul. This is why I recommend to my counseling and coaching clients that you keep a journal.

It not only becomes a record of your personal growth and healing, but becomes a way you can look at your life circumstances and situation from the perspective of the detached observer, something I frequently recommend as a tool for insight when you are striving to change your life. By understanding the power of your thoughts being sent out into the universe, you can gain a better perspective.

Understanding that “energy follows thought” helps you look more objectively at the consequences of your thoughts. You then, after seeing your thoughts expressed in black and white, have the opportunity to revise and re-frame your thinking to enhance the result you desire.

At times, I have noted that what I was initially thinking was not only dramatically different from what I wanted to create in my life but also at times upon reflection was actually silly or absurd. The opportunity to consider my thoughts helped to shift my feelings and empowered the technique of reframing.

Journaling also helped me to identify and release limiting beliefs that came to my awareness as I wrote.

Keeping a journal can be a valuable and comforting experience. That is why I am always amazed when someone drops the simple discipline that regular journaling requires.

I have played with the idea of intermittently recording my thoughts and feelings, but the very intermittency of that sacrifices the primary benefit in keeping a journal, which is to reveal the process of change and transformation you are undergoing.

For that reason, I encourage you to approach journaling with discipline to make an entry daily. Even if that entry is as simple as, “too tired to write tonight,” or “too busy to write today,” those entries become launch points for your next entry.

A journal is really a record of your life over a period of time. Like life itself, some are good, some are difficult. Some are well done and some of it has room for improvement.

As a record of your life for a particular span of time, I recommend that when you decide to start a journal you get a fresh book. Indeed, a new journal is a symbol of a fresh start. At this time in my life, I like to pick a new blank book. There are many beautiful blank books to choose from. The choosing of a new book in which to record my new revelations and my new story has become for me a significant step in the process of keeping a journal. The cover, the design, and any pictures often reflect the place I am in with my consciousness at that time.

You may choose a book with lined or blank pages. Journals are certainly available either way. I like a blank book because that gives me the freedom to make lists, chart things or draw pictures or images along with the words I write.

Many, many years ago, when I first began keeping a journal I did not purchase books with a designed cover. I purchased basic black artist sketchbooks and only the dates within revealed when I wrote in them. However, when I chose a book that had a beautiful cover or image, I found that it enhanced my overall satisfaction and enticed my interest when I went back to read my old entries.

I would now recommend that you choose your book cover by what you are intuitively drawn to as part of the reason you are journaling. It is a special book, almost a sacred book, where you can capture and reveal the promptings of your heart, mind, and Soul. It deserves special attention.

I have always liked to identify a special pen for journaling. My all-time favorite is a fountain pen, although they have over the years become more and more archaic.

Another designation is to choose a particular type of pen or a special color of ink. As strange as that may seem, the shift in ink color has often signaled a shift in my growth and consciousness. It has often surprised me how significant a change in ink color can be, even over a specific period of time.

The rituals of a special book, a special pen and, or ink color, enhance the experience of keeping a journal. When I determine I will start journaling, choosing those things seem to prepare me and commit me to the discipline.

I have also found it beneficial to have a particular time of day to write. Most of my years, it has been early morning upon awakening. In that way, my journal can also serve as a dream journal where I record any significant dreams that I can remember.

I now use that ingrained discipline to do the writing that I share with you in these various articles and books. Still, a journal is different from, and in many ways more special than regular writing.

When I began journaling, I resolved to live each day so that when I looked back upon it when I got older I would smile. Now, no matter what sorrow or loss I may have been experiencing at the time I was writing, when I pick up an old journal to read, I find I do smile.

Although it may be bittersweet, I realize that I have new understanding and compassion for the person I used to be. The love and compassion that the passage of time has granted to others, put everything into perspective.

Journaling Affirmation

I find that journaling allows you to look back and affirm:

I did survive,

I did prevail, and

I have arrived in a different moment of time,

bringing with me the wisdom that those events long ago imparted.

I am able to see the growth and understanding I have achieved.

The very act of journaling has brought magic into my life with the healing way it has brought me through the dark night of many experiences into the light.

Early in my experience of journaling, I began to notice that no matter how unhappy or unsettled I was when I began to write, the process of writing would begin to clarify things. By the conclusion of the writing, my perspective had shifted and I was able to understand life and events with a greater depth and clarity. This aspect is still one of the main reasons and primary benefits of keeping a journal.

The change to a new season, a significant shift in time, such as a New Year, or a new monthly Moon which starts a new lunar cycle are all powerful times to make a commitment to starting a journal. Picking out the book and bringing it to where you can easily reach it, with your special or designated pen helps encourage you.

Whatever your choice of book, I encourage you to write the start date on the title page and when the book is filled, record the end date. This is valuable when you go back to remember specific times and life-transforming events.

For that reason, specifying a book for a special trip is often helpful. By just letting the dates record the start and end of the journey clarifies that those insights or even people who came into your life were unique to that experience.

If you chose to begin journaling now, I would recommend you take the time to choose a special book, identify a pen, and make the choice of those things special. It is too easy to lose random notebooks.

Certainly, in these days of computers, notepads and smart mini computer cell phones, any of those could be used to journal. The advantage I could see to using these new technologies is they tend to be kept with you and easily available. The cloud and new platforms open up a completely new possibility. The ease of accessing your journal from where ever you might be, opens new opportunities and potential.

Another good reason to keep a journal is it is a great way to make valuable use of waiting time. I have found it often a great way to nourish and support myself when eating alone. Keeping a journal gave me the freedom to be alone in many of the places and times that people were with others, without making me stand out of feeling lonely. In the years that I frequently traveled on business and found myself eating in restaurants alone, it also helped me to not feel lonely.

Whatever equipment and whatever platform you choose to use, I would recommend that before you begin to write in your journal you take a few minutes to ground your energy, to center yourself, to open your heart and mind and to consciously choose to be aligned with and receptive to your Higher Self. This can only enhance and magnify the benefits and advantages of journaling.

There are many signposts you can use to measure what success means to you.

It is valuable to consider what is important to you in life when you are striving to be successful.

It is all too easy to sacrifice things that enhance your happiness and give joy by focusing only on material “stuff” and let the gathering of toys become a priority to the exclusion of what is really important to you.

We have all met miserable and bitter people who upon achieving great wealth realize that money could not buy them happiness. So, clearly success is about more than money.

Defining success is unique to you. As you embark upon life’s journey it is valuable to consider what is important to you and your life. Along the way, you will be presented with many choices and decisions that you must make. Understanding your desires and values will be a great asset in making those choices.

I encourage you to take some time to consider what you want from this adventure of life. Knowing what you want is the best way to assure that you achieve success. Many profound energy laws and dynamic principles are activated by your desires and your intentions. Learning to harness them and use them to your advantage is an important life lesson.

In order to accomplish and experience what you truly desire, it is important to know what you want. How do you measure success in your life? The amazing thing about life is there are many byways you can take to get to your ultimate destination, so it is helpful to focus on what you wish to achieve. This is a part of being successful, for without that you could fail to recognize success, or its value, once you have accomplished it.

Now, before you go any further down the path of life, is the perfect time to take the time to consciously consider these issues and questions. Taking the time to focus and clarify your values and desires will help you create the life you wish to live. Now is the time to make the choices and goals that will bring you happiness and satisfaction.

I recommend that as you ponder these questions you look at them from the perspective of fulfilling your life’s purpose, your Soul purpose. I suggest you ponder on and meditate upon what success means to you. By doing so you can give your intention the attention it needs to fulfill your dreams and manifest what you desire.

I suggest that you take 10-15 minutes a day to meditate upon what you want in order to clarify it. During or just after that meditative time, while you are calm, open and receptive, record your thoughts and impressions in a special journal that you use for that purpose. This will support you in living a more conscious and purpose directed life.

You can then choose to make use of the many techniques and tools available to enhance and bring into your life the success and experiences you choose and desire. There are several categories that are worthy of being considered. Among these are:

Relationships

All people live in relationship with others. How you choose to be in a relationship with others is a key element to evaluating what you experience as a success, or conversely failure. For some, intimacy, marriage or family are essential to feeling successful. Certainly being in positive and supportive relationships with others influences one’s personal happiness. These may mean marriage and family or friendships and working liaisons. Consider what you consider success in this vital life area. Then nurture and develop those relationships.

Satisfaction

In life most of us attach meaning to how something makes us feel. We don’t really just want a house, we want the feelings the house can give us, a sense of protection over the elements, a place for family to gather, the enjoyment of seeing what we have manifested and accomplished.

Reflect on what you want to experience. What makes you happy? What are you passionate about? For me, finding ways to live in joy is one of the things that really excites me and makes me feel successful when I have reached this state of being in joy. More importantly, is my connection with my Soul, and the oneness I feel when joined with the universal presence of source. Ultimately, I find great satisfaction by being of service and supporting others on their journey.

Career or Life Purpose

Identifying what you want to generate and create in your life is a primary psychological developmental task in life. Psychologist Erik Erikson lists generativity vs. stagnation (whether you produce anything in your life or don’t) as one of the eight essential life stages that determine success in life. According to his paradigm, failure to address this issue can result in despair at the “end of life” stage. Choosing what you wish to create in life is an important part of becoming successful.

It is my observation that the more aligned with your Life Purpose and your Soul purpose you are in what you choose to experience and create in your life, the greater the sense of personal satisfaction, and happiness. For many, that is the definition of success. It gives your life a sense of meaning and purpose that empowers and supports you.

What Do You Want Your Legacy To Be?

Each of us in any individual life leaves behind a legacy of memories and significance in those whose lives we touch. Considering what you wish your legacy to be, how you wish to be remembered when your life is over, is a powerful way to get in touch with what you consider being a success. This is a time-honored way that you can let your ultimate death serve as an advisor for your life. Ponder on this as you determine what success means to you.

Once you have determined what you consider success to be, you can draw from the vast array of tools and techniques to help you achieve it.

Among these are using the power of your mind to achieve success, using affirmations to focus your intention, igniting the Law of Attraction in your life and understanding the power of appreciation in co-creation of your life.

You Must Take Action

Success in addition to intentions and direction requires action. So once you have thought, meditated and reflected on what you consider to be the measure of success for you in your life, it is time to put your plans into action.

Then the dynamic principle that “energy follows thought” can be activated as you make plans and set the goals to achieve the life and success that you desire. Let your thoughts become a roadmap for achieving what you want. Then you can plan your work and work your plan using the active creative power of your mind.

Dare To Do

It is equally important to dare to do, as it is to dare to dream. Deciding and doing is required. There is a guidance phrase from the Ageless Wisdom that advises, “to dare, to do and to keep silent.” Once you have decided what to do you need only go about the doing of it, not dissipate your energy talking about it. There is a hint in this advice.

It is also essential that you not waste your energy in the process of only researching and deciding what to do. It is a trap to be so caught up in overthinking and over evaluating how to do something that you end up not really doing anything except thinking about it, instead of accomplishing it. It is important to avoid this glamor of being busy.

Edison is quoted as saying,

Being busy does not always mean real work. The object of all work is production or accomplishment and to either of these ends, there must be forethought, system, planning, intelligence, and honest purpose, as well as perspiration. Seeming to do is not doing.

Action is essential to manifesting. It is my experience that in the process of actually doing something, the “how-to” often is clarified. Therefore, I caution you on your quest for success to remember that, “not to decide is a decision,” a decision that can stand firmly in the way of your success.

Most of the time, that you decide and move forward in dynamic action is much more important than what you decide. It is easy for your fears to disguise themselves as thoughtful consideration, but they are really just the fear of making a mistake. Making mistakes is a part of life and most certainly a part of the creative process of achieving success. In business and in your personal life it is ok if you fail forward.

The only man who never makes a mistake is the man who never does anything.

Once you know what you wish to achieve, as the saying goes, “just do it.”

Be bold; be true to yourself and the purpose of your life. Dare to dream, dare to do and celebrate your success with gratitude. It is your life. You have the power to create and experience what you want. Shed your fears. Seize the moment, which is right here and right now.

A New Year signals a new opportunity to manifest your life’s purpose and fulfill your heart’s desire.

It allows you to take the collective energies of the hopes and dreams of all humanity to build upon, to empower and stimulate you to create the life of your dreams and fulfill your Life’s Purpose.

There is no time like the present. It is never too late. As the old expression says, “Today is the first day of the rest of your life.”

Your life is a Divine gift to you, and you can make it be what you want it to be.

You Are A Co-Creator Of Life

The teachings of the Ageless Wisdom tell us that as human beings we are all created to be a co-creator with God. This concept of being a co-creator of your life is integral to many of the teachings on The Law of Attraction and the prosperity wisdom, such as the famous Napoleon Hill book, “Think and Grow Rich” that provides techniques to help you achieve your dreams.

You, as is true of each individual, are created to be a being of matter and a being of spirit. You have a physical body, emotions, a mind, and a personality, and you have a Soul.

This alchemy grants you a status unique to humanity, a being of free will who can co-create with God, your personal reality and the dynamics of your life. This power of co-creation is inherent in the energy and vibrations that emanate from your thoughts.

This co-creation enables you to use the power of your mind to influence the events and circumstance that are available through a dynamic and powerful principle that “energy follows thought.” Ponder on this!

Use the empowering techniques of harnessing the power of your mind, using affirmations to direct your creative thoughts and incorporate the Law of Attractions magnetic power of gratitude and appreciation.

The principle that “energy follows thought” is a dynamic of the subtle and yet pervasive way in which you create your life and your reality. It requires both conscious awareness and discipline to transcend, transform and transmute your fears and more negative emotions such as anger and limiting beliefs of pessimism.

It is by learning to observe, yet not judge your thoughts, which can be filled with the self-criticisms of “should” and “ought’s” and perfectionistic expectations, that you can transform your life. I call this the detached observer.

 

Three Minutes to Empowerment Exercise

 

A brief technique you can use to empower and transform your life for this New Year is to take 3 minutes each day to observe the content of your thoughts as the detached observer.

Sitting quietly and breathing naturally, review the content of your thoughts, realizing that through the creative principle “energy follows thought.” Your thoughts are instructions you are sending out to the Universe.

During this 3 minutes of empowerment exercise, observe your thoughts, without self-criticism. When you observe a thought that contains fear, any negative emotion, or limiting beliefs take that opportunity of observation to revise, re-frame, and correct that thought to bring your thought into alignment with what you desire.

For those 3 moments of the day consciously request that your Soul be in control so that your creative efforts are aligned and empowered by your life purpose.

Let this brief exercise of observation quiet your mind chatter, calm your emotions and open your awareness of new possibilities and new opportunities.

In this 3 minutes let your awareness come into the present, releasing your creativity from any contamination of the past.

Doing any meditative discipline 21 days in a row helps it become a habit. This is a habit that can empower your life, for the rest of your life. It works with the creative force of your creative energies to empower you.

Put The Past Behind You

Consciously, right here and right now, put your past behind you and open yourself to the unlimited possibility that is available for you.

The future is a mystery still being written in the recesses of your mind. Now is the call to action to create the life you desire.

Release Your Fears

Live In The Moment
& Forgive Yourself For The Past

Likewise, coming into the present, the “Now” is often enhanced when you forgive yourself from the past. Self-forgiveness is a way of freeing yourself from the limitations that are too often imposed by the mind that you are not deserving of creating the life of your dreams. Taking this important step of Self-Forgiveness is freedom unleashed. It emboldens and empowers you to be in the present.

As much as you can release yourself of the burdens of negative emotions, fears, old fits of anger, and unrealistic expectations, the more you can invite in the promise of the present, experience it, embrace it, enjoy it.

Releasing these residuals that can create resistance to the energy you are striving to invite and invoke in your life is key.

Free Yourself From Limiting Beliefs

Another important step to unlocking the potential and promise of releasing the past and empowering the present is to free yourself of, what is often called, “Limiting Beliefs.”

You have the remarkable ability to take an experience and create a meaning in your life that can disempower you or one that can literally save your life.

The choice is yours. You are more powerful than you realize. You can have more than you imagine.

Life is a banquet before you filled with delights of unlimited diversity. Celebrate it and enjoy it.

Celebrate the New Year

Now, as we celebrate the dawning of a New Year we also celebrate that you can always begin again.

Fear is probably the most limiting thing you can feel.

It stops you from doing what you truly want to do.

Learning to transcend your fears is one of the most powerful and liberating tasks that you may encounter on your spiritual journey.

Fear stops you from being who you know yourself to be truly. It limits you in many little ways that destroy the joyful spontaneity of life. That said releasing and freeing you from your fears is one of the most challenging charges you may ever undertake.

If you think back over the course of your life and consider the ways in which your fears may have prevented you from trying something new, going somewhere different, or seizing a new opportunity, they are probably vast. Of course, one of the most difficult issues you may struggle with is in determining whether something is just a fear vs. a warning of intuition. In order to actually make that discernment from a place of centered awareness, you must strive to conquer your overall shapeless fears to some extent, and so dealing with fear becomes a proverbial Catch 22.

So many little fears and worries can linger in your undetected and unaware mind chatter that they can rise to sabotage you. Because of this addressing your fears becomes a significant step in your spiritual work and evolution.

It is essential to realize that what you fear may be a real danger. Learning to release your fears and improve and empower your life can happen during certain circumstances in life that are generating your worries. War, Pandemics, environmental dangers such as fires, floods, earthquakes, and hurricanes, typhoons, and tornados are all examples of things we as human beings justifiably fear.

However, even when the cause of the fear is genuine, you are far more able to cope with the severe life changes these situations may engender if you learn to transmute, transform, and transcend your fears.

The mind is more effective and efficient if it is free from the paralysis that fear engenders. Your emotions are more effective and efficient when you don’t let the stress of a difficult situation be in control.

The spiritual life lesson of stress and even danger is to learn to let your Higher Self (your Soul) have more control. Allowing your Higher Self and your whole self to be released from the paralyzing influence of fear is both freeing and dynamically empowering. Using the opportunity of the current life crisis to learn how to release your fears can make your life much better.

I use as the entering invocation of every meditation the words. “Calm your mind, Open your heart, and Invite the Light.

I have found that every life circumstance, no matter how dangerous, is better when approached with a calm mind, and open heart, and openness to the wisdom and direction of your Higher Self.

To free yourself from letting fear limit your life, so that you can take advantage of the possibilities and potential that life serves up to you in the buffet of life experiences, you need to understand better the purpose of your life. When an event or opportunity presents itself, you can, by identifying and aligning with your higher source and affirming and understanding your Soul purpose, use that strength to face your fears. This is where many people throughout the ages have found using the powerful tools of meditation and affirmations can be very helpful.

Meditation can help you calm the chatter of your mind which too often generates fear, not from what is happening, but what might happen or could happen. The way that your fears bring you out of the NOW moment, into reliving past events and errors, is part of how they grab hold of your attention. Releasing the past with the firm realization and awareness that the past is truly over and is in the past, and there is nothing that you can do to change it, is helpful in releasing fear. Likewise realizing that the future is right NOW, both unformed and yet to be created is also very freeing.

Meditation can help you focus on what is real and calm both the mind and emotions. Meditation helps you center yourself in the powerful and potent potential of the NOW.

To be afraid and experience fear is a normal and natural response to the human experience. A great deal of fear is instinctual. Over the ages fear developed, in our evolution, as a way of keeping us safe from harm. Some fears are spontaneous responses to what is unfamiliar and unknown. A loud noise unexplained is an example of a fear response that resolves immediately upon an understanding of what caused the sound.

Freeing yourself from fear does not eliminate those natural and normal responses to a stimulus such as the automatic response to a loud noise. Freeing yourself from fear just means taking control of your life in ways that open you to explore the vast array of possibilities and opportunities that life offers you from a different perspective of your consciousness.

Learning to transcend fear does not mean that you never feel fear, but it does mean that you are the one in control in your life. This transforms the fear. This makes it more manageable and less of a presenting factor in your life.

 

To Free Yourself From Fear Is A Multistep Process

 

1) Use Discernment & Discrimination

Before you let your fears prevent you from doing something irrational use your better judgment and discrimination as the first step in freeing yourself of the limitations of fear.

2) Clarify What It Is That You Are Fearful Of

A key element in releasing your fears is to use your mind to explain what it is you are afraid of. In the clarity of understanding, what exactly you are fearful of, you can often see the absurdity of the fear itself. I am reminded of times in my coaching when upon hearing someone’s fears expressed I have fed back to them what they just said by asking them to clarify “Just what is so bad about feeling good?”

3) Face Your Fears

To transcend fear it is important to not only look at what it is that you fear in any situation or circumstance in life but to face your fears. As the saying goes “do what you fear most and you will conquer that fear.” When you do this, what is underlying the fear may surprise you and once revealed may dissolve in the light of your consciousness looking at and understanding the fear.

4) Learn From The Past

Often, the underlying genesis of the fear lies in events or circumstances of the past. Past failures, past rejections, or past events that may have seemed to justify and validate the fears may often be the most difficult to transcend. Honestly exploring the nature of a particular fear is crucial. If the fear is from your past life experiences, it is wise to evaluate and examine what caused those failures. What lessons can you learn from the past failure that can help you avoid mistakes as you move forward in your life?

This shift in your attention and intention to learn from your past errors while not letting the fact that you have made mistakes limit you from embracing the full power, potential and promise of the future is vital in manifesting your life’s purpose and your Soul purpose to fulfill your true destiny.

5) Put The Past Behind You

Once the lesson aspect of the past is clearly understood, it is equally important to put the past behind you and realize that what has happened in the past does not have to affect what is going on in the future which is still uncreated and unformed. You are a co-creator of your present and future.

6) Transcend Your Fears

It is important when you experience fear that you make a choice between living your life with fullness and abundance or letting fear keep your happiness and joy locked up so you can only take it out to look upon occasionally and wistfully. Transcending your fears and then moving forward to do and become what you know in your heart is what you are meant to do, to be or become is an important growth or spiritual evolutionary step.

To help you transcend your fears
here is a simple affirmation technique:

AN AFFIRMATION FOR TRANSCENDING FEAR

 

I align myself NOW with the wisdom of my Soul
that I may clearly see the
opportunities life is presenting to me.

 

I consciously choose to
embrace my life guided by how love is best served,
directed by my insight and intuition so that I may
manifest my higher purpose in my life today.

By affirming your choice, you take control of your life from the tyranny of fear and limitation opening your life and yourself to the freedom and the joy that are your birthright as a spark of Divine Light and a child of God.

For me I choose not to let fear control my life. That does not mean things are easy or always go right for me, but it does mean that I give the control of my life to my heart to be guided by love, my mind to be directed by discernment and my Soul to direct me to where I need to be when I need to be there to fulfill and manifest what is for me right and good.

Just remember that your unexamined fears and mind chatter may work against you. Meditation and contemplation allow you to be the director in your life instead of just the actor or re-actor when you consider your mind chatter with your higher consciousness and awareness.

Finally I will close with:

An Exercise to Help You Learn to
Transcend Your Fears

For just 3 minutes every day, sit quietly in reflective meditation. Take a deep breath while you calm your mind, open your heart and invite the Light. Open to the wisdom and guidance of your Soul.

Then, for that 3 minutes step outside yourself and be a detached observer of your chattering mind. Each time you catch your mind in a thought of fear, take a few seconds to identify the nature of the fear. If it is from a past mistake, consider where the mistake was and learn from it, then quickly forgive yourself for the error. Remember the past is finished. It is over and what is happening now is different.

If it is an intuition or warning, consciously decide not to do what you are being warned about. If it is a limiting thought or belief that could hold you back, reframe the thought (in a positive light) and look into the possibility and potential that life is offering you.

In this brief exercise you may find some mistakes in the past that you need to forgive, that’s ok. Don’t beat yourself up over them. Forgive yourself for them and let them go. They are in the past and only the present moment can be truly lived. Ponder on this.

In this way you can learn from your life lessons, release your fears and take back conscious control of your life, refusing to let fear control you.

Then go forward into the events and circumstances of your life that are happening at the moment, emboldened and empowered by this brief meditative experience to help you transcend your fears.

Embrace your personal power as you learn from these daily 3-minute experiences and if necessary, forgive your past mistakes. Relegate the past to the past; enter into what is real NOW. Free from the limitations of your fears you are now empowered to move forward into a future in which you can fulfill and express your reason for living.

When you are aligned with your Soul and have faced the fears that are generated in your chattering mind life presents you with unlimited possibilities to be and become all that you are meant to be and to manifest and do all that you are destined to do.
